ooh simpson sounds yummy, but how do you clean the dried basil?

Madm - clearly Nathan and Tana were conspiring together last night

Barristermum - I do sometimes look at T and think 'you're not a little tiny baby anymore', and then I get a bit broody for a moment....think I'll leave it for a bit before trying for another though or my marriage may never recover!

LaT - I have a mothercare travelcot, which is a nightmare to fold (seems I am the only one who even has the patience to wrestle with it!) - prob will use that as playpen and just leave it up all day, and fold at night.

Anyone looking into buying a second stroller? I have been debating this for aaages - am now stcuk between bugaboo bee (cute, but v expensive and maybe too small), Maclaren techno xt, and the babyjogger city mini. Any advice from you mums who have done this before? My silver cross 3d is now just too heavy, but still want one that can lie flat so T can sleep.

simpson · 09/09/2008 13:41

Fragolina - I have bought a maclaren triumph which is great but can't put shopping on it as buggy very light and tips over also doesn't lie totally flat though but DD likes it. Although not used every time we go out.

I washed the basil first then dried it in the oven Did loads of it so hopefully will last a while.

AngeChica · 09/09/2008 14:39

Bought a Maclaren Quest off Ebay, bit battered but will do just fine - v easy to throw in car etc. though it doesn't go flat. The Loola was quite hefty to lug in and out of car so I just use it to walk from house now.

I'm looking to get a back carrier ATM for our dog walks, Mothercare have just started doing one. The Little Life ones look good but v pricey, will keep lookng on Ebay.

justkeepswimming · 09/09/2008 15:34

everyone i know ends up with a mclaren, tho i haven't got one...yet!

we have a little life backpack, absolutely fab. it was pricey, but we are now using it for ds2 and he loves being in it, so would recommend. (we got one that has a pouch for putting stuff in too, v handy).

ds2 still being weird about feeding, fed at 11am this morning but not earlier or since....trying some new ideas, lying down in the spare room for a change of scene and position, not giving him any ebm for the next few days in the hope he realises it only comes from mummy, etc. fingers crossed, i do not want to stop yet!

meant to be doing jobs while ds1 at nursery so best get on with them!

(still not a full night's sleep here either...)

justkeepswimming · 09/09/2008 15:47

oh and we had development check today - all fine except he doesn't roll but she accepted that he moves himself around to get to toys, sort of!
he's 19lbs,11 now, nearly at next car seat weight hooray! he is SO ready not to be in the baby seat!
and tall, above the 91st centile for height, tho i take that with a pinch of salt as he's so wriggly when she measures him!

hi barristermum
and everyone else, right, jobs get going girl!

betterhalf · 09/09/2008 15:52

JKS I so know what you mean about the baby seat. Toby has his check at the end of the month so I hope he's hit the 9 kilo mark so we can get him into the next car seat.

simpson · 09/09/2008 17:27

oops just realised I don't have a quest but a truimph too Bought it as a buggy either Ds or DD could go into. It is fab though and DD loves it as she has a great view of everything.

Well Dd has just had her first BLW meal pizza and broccoli. She gummed some pizza don't know how much she ate though. And she ate 2 raspberries for pudding

Lilyloo · 09/09/2008 19:29

Evening all

Lucky agree with LaT think it's a bit much for dp to expect 9 hrs uninterupted sleep too. Would give him the ear plugs and tell him to get used to it she is only to get bigger and louder and def will manipulate the situation as she get's older. Agree wiht trying to arrange activity out of the house though for them few hours every day.

JKS dd refusing bf too for most of the day prob having two but still 3 at night!

Simspon she seems to be enjoying blw!

MrsMc rain

LaTrucha have you looked onlocal ebay bargains for collection only ?

Ange the back carriers look fab!

MM happy anniversary.

Frag of full night sleep! We have had stroller for few months now hate lugging big pram in and out of car. Just waiting for dd to grow out of car seat then going to put it on ebay.

Barristermum wow sounds like you been through the mill. Glad your better and Cerys sounds lovely.

Betterhalf good luck with check.

We got dd's development visit off hv in a week. I still haven't had her weighed has been months now. Will likely get told off by hv However she is growing , eating same as us pretty much, crawling, has teeth etc etc so i am not worried.
Just preparing for dp going away on Sunday for week by doing bath on my own tonight went ok but am shattered and took about 45 min longer I take my hat off to all single mums!

Spent whole morning trudging round Newcastle today waiting for car which was at garage. Treated ourselves to breakfast at Fenwicks and marvelled at the astounding baby clothes in there (£125 for a Baby Dior dress anyone? ). I had a good look in shops and got a new handbag, some jeans and tops, haven't really done that since he was born! Then got back to garage and was told nothing wrong with car and paid £90 for the privilege .

Last night was an eye opener - DS woke at 11pm and started roaring, tried to put dummy in and he was just screaming like I 've NEVER seen him do before. Then I noticed top teeth had broken through gums and they looked really sore, cue Calpol; when he calmed down he then slept through till 5am. Had no warning like previously, no drooling or chewing, and he's been as right as rain today though DH gave him a rice cake at tea time and it made his gums bleed .

Leaving him at childminder for a couple of hours tomorrow for the first time. We've been for a few visits so he gets used to her.

Throwing it down AGAIN. We're sick of wet dog in this house.

simpson · 09/09/2008 21:08

Got both Dcs down to bed ok tonight but DD is definately teething poor thing. Can't see any white under the gums though. She is also a real snot bag too

DH got appt at hosp on thursday morning and another x ray so hopefully he is healing ok. He is in lots of pain now though.

Does anyone know the weather forecast for sat? Got DS's 3rd birthday party. Don't know what I will do if it is raining and I have 6/7 active kids running around and 4 Los.

Any ideas would be gratefully received for indoor play with not loads of room, asking a miracle I know

Lucky - hope your day was a bit better today.

LuckySalem · 09/09/2008 22:01

DD crawled only a couple of steps and she kept getting her feet tangled as she was doing it but still she crawled!!

She's got a HUGE rash on her "area" which is very sore so been nappiless most of day and loads of cream.

I'm gonna have to do more with her as we were at my mum's and she barely made a noise except when she had a wee in her nappy (I think it stung) so i'm obviously boring her. Although I don't know what activities to do with her.

simpson · 09/09/2008 22:16

Lucky - well done to your DD

Am sure you are not boring her its just that she knows you are always there for her iyswim.

My Dd's favourite thing ATM seems to be singing nursery rhymes, well me and Ds singing and her laughing at us She does like her activity station too.

Me and Dh have made up these really daft songs with her name in and whenever she hears them she goes MAD giggling etc. Am convinced she knows her name now.

Ds starting pre school on 25th sept which is 3hrs in the afternoon and am determined to get to a baby/toddler group then too.

Poor Ds has been watching Cbeebies for most of the day today as weather so bad and DD not very well so he hasn't had enough attention today really

LuckySalem · 09/09/2008 22:46

DD likes songs with her name in and she likes to play on her mats with loads of toys but its the inbetween bits. lol

I'm gonna try and think of more things we can do in the daytime but I find it really hard to motivate myself to go out so it's hard. I'm too lazy lol

simpson · 09/09/2008 23:07

i know how you feel!! Today was a prime example the only reason I went out was because we had NO food in house for my or DS's dinner because we have been away. Otherwise I would have stayed in.

Crap weather doesn't help either. When the sun is shining both Dcs like eating in garden which is pretty big then we play football (well me and Ds obviously but I carry DD & she loves it!!)

DS is quite getting into the library though so we go there for book reading once a week (unless DH off then he takes him!!)

I actually think it is sooo much easier when they are walking as can run around and tire them selves out but then you have the endless questions LOL. DS is currently fascinated with the colour of peoples' wee

LuckySalem · 09/09/2008 23:08

LMAO... bless him

madmouse · 10/09/2008 08:58

Hi all

Will be back later for more but just had to share that

NATHAN SLEPT THROUGH WOOHOO

9-5 (in-the-way-burp at 10 does not count) and 5.30 til 8.30 (last member of the household to wake up)

Just a shame I was scrubbing kitchen till 11.15.

Aaliyah well done on crawling

betterhalf · 10/09/2008 10:05

MM congrats on the wedding anniv. We had our 18th last Monday. Didn't manage to do much as still had foster sons off school and LO. Spent a very romantic evening mopping up sick as youngest foster son had epileptic fit and threw up all over ( and I mean all over!) his bedroom. We'd had a curry about half an hour before! Nice and romanntic eh? .
We are off to St Ives at the end of the month for a week just myself, DH and Toby so will try to celebrate it then!

betterhalf · 10/09/2008 10:08

Forgot to add:

Well Done to Nathan for sleeping through.

LaTrucha · 10/09/2008 15:35

Just popping in.

Well done to nathan for sleeping - how's the bottle/bf going?

Well done to Aaliyah for crawling!

Congratualtions on the wedding anniversaries!

Hi all!

simpson · 10/09/2008 16:24

Go Nathan

DD not well at all today grizzly, runny nose etc.

Hope she is better for party on Sat. Just been out and done a massive shop for it.

Going to have to economize over the next couple of months as EVERY bill has come through at the same time and I am not earning now.

Does anyone know what Aldi nappies are like as they are cheaper than tescos but might be rubbish?

simpson · 10/09/2008 16:38

Just had an email from cow & gate - to say they are changing their packaging from end of Sept.

Lets hope they don't change the price like farleys did

Good thing I have changed DD's milk today anyway to follow on Hipp organic as its cheaper.

madmouse · 10/09/2008 16:42

simpson i find them fine have used them, just tesco is better fit for my skinny boy, but had no leaks with aldi.

simpson · 10/09/2008 16:51

Madmouse - cheers for that Think I will try them, especially for DS who only has a nappy at night time.

fillybuster · 10/09/2008 16:53

Not caught up but attempting to type with Tamara bouncing and wiggling on my lap Just to say..."aaarggh"!!! she's lovely etc etc but omigod - i just went to the loo [bad mummy emoticon] whilst she was awake and wanting attention...

...honestly, from the screams you would have thought that, at a minimum, a sabre-toothed tiger was attempting to chew off her foot. Or something

Not sure about this, but don't think I like it...

Off to visit my mum, catch up later xx

Gingeme · 10/09/2008 19:39

Evening ladies.
Aaagh Dh is going back to work next Thursday after having 5 weeks off cause of his back Were realy gonna miss him. He has been tols he is to be put on light duties so he won't actualy be driving a train for a while which usualy means he'll be allowed to come home early
Wenst to Morrisons today and had lunch in the cafe. We got a free jar of baby fodd if we spent over a certain amount. George was very impressed
Nathan sleeping through though saying that George did sleep from 7-5 bottle then till 7. Not bad as we have to get up at 7 to get ds3 ready for big school now which he is loving.
Trying George with follow on milk tonight (dh currently in bedroom putting him to bed) lets see if it helps him sleep any better, though dh has probably fallen asleep too .
Well off for a shower now I have a smear test tommorrow.
Hope you are all well.
