Thought I'd start a new thread before we ran out of space! Couldn't remember the exact name suggestion so have paraphrased, the sentiment is still the same though...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amberc · 19/08/2008 21:07

Aw! Peter is sooo cute - got a pic of Luke smiling on mine too. He's been very good lately whih worries me...

Essie3 · 19/08/2008 21:19

Hi all, been a bit hectic so not much mumsnet time. Actually been doing research. I know I sound mad, but I miss work and I do research to relax...

Just a quick 'am I normal' check (or rather, is Iestyn normal...). DH is busy trying to settle him, and he's crying loads. (Iestyn, that is!). This can continue for an hour, sometimes two... is this normal behaviour? How can we break the pattern and get him to settle?

debinaustria · 19/08/2008 22:44

Allipalli - A meet up in Yarm (in the future) would be great for our 17th June babies! Shame about the skiing though - only 35 kms of piste - what's all that about then? I had to google the place, hadn't heard about it before. If they want somewhere with great snow record and quiet pistes they should really give us a try.But I know, some people get stuck in a rut with their skiing!!

Essie - hope I is settled now, no solutions - sorry

thegreenfairy · 19/08/2008 22:44

Evening all
Was going to do a proper post but she's just starting to stir for her late feed, so just to say I've added a couple of pix - will post properly tomorrow. [happy]

debinaustria · 20/08/2008 06:26

TGF - I love the photos, what a great yawn!! Dh captured me mid yawn whilst breastfeeding - I'll pop it on my profile for you to have a laugh!

I am a very happy Mummy this morning - Ethan slept from 8.45-6.15 WOW. I had forgotten that sometimes babies do this, ds1 was OK but ds2 was a nightmare sleeping and only slept through the night from about 3 years old!

Also my mum arrives this morning for a flying visit, she goes home again on Friday evening, and she's soooo excited about seeing Ethan again(and the other 2 of course), last time she saw him he was only about 10 days old so big changes!!

Amberc · 20/08/2008 07:37

deb OMG Ethan looks exactly like your oldest boy!!!

After my two 11.30 - 5.30's, Luke kept me up all night getting wedged in his cot . I fed him at 3am when he got wedged dor the third time but he hardly bothered with it and properly woke at 5.30 again so prob wouldn't have woken if it had not been for his wriggling. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to keep them from moving in the cot? ALready got him in growbag but it makes no difference. What about wedging him in with pillows or is that too dangeous?

Spent an hour trying to make him laugh this morning - told you!! Got a half hearted one but am waiting till bath time to see if he does it again...

ErnestTheBavarian · 20/08/2008 07:45

morning all. seems funny to be back. actually have a chance to post now 2 big boys at school, Adele napping & dh taken ds3 to docs ( likely to be v. unpleasant so fingers crossed pls)

Deb, lucky you Ethan sleeping so long. How do your breasts feel tho? (If you don't ming me asking!?) Adele has sometimens gone from 11 to 6, but I've always woken up about 4ish with udders so big and leaky and painful, I've wished she'd wake up, and ended up getting a worse night's sleep than if she'd had a feed. Don't you get this?

GF, your pictures are lovely. fab smile for daddy.

Adele's doing fine, she's not so sleepy thank goodness, and is piling it on ( I asssume, I don't get her weighed, but she's looking porkier for sure and feeling quite heavy). She's a very easy baby, but proably more to do with the fact she's number 4 maybe. Am getting used to the "3 boys, and now a girl" ......... type comments, but she is so lovely it all washes off. How my boys I have survived the summer I do not know, I think we're all glad for them going back to school today. ds3 has another 2 weeks before he starts Kindergarten. It'll be very strange to have all 3 out of the huse, that's for sure.

How's Olivia doing by the way? Any news?

And finally, Deb, is it still hot in At? It's been unbearable here, but we had a big storm last night, and it's lovely and fresh at last today, thank goodness. Such a pain to have to put sun cream on 3 unwilling victims even at 4 pm just to go to the playground

bitofadramaqueen · 20/08/2008 08:51

Morning all. S's sleeping through the night seems like a distant memory... Cant complain though, another settled evening (bliss) and only up once in the night for a feed.

Deb was it Ethan who was going in his grobag for 1st time? Sounds like he was happy in it! S has been in his since he was around 2 weeks old - he looks super cute in it.

Essie I'm sure Iestyn is perfectly normal! Is there any kind of pattern to his crying? Evenings/after a feed or anything? Could he be a bit colicky?

Oh dear, S has started grumbling so better go and check on him. Typical, have just run a bath while catching up on MN!

Josie57 · 20/08/2008 09:17

Essie - a couple of times when my ds got in to a crying pattern we tried giving him a bath just to break him out of it and it worked a treat. Fortunately for us this only happened a couple of times as I know this is no long term solution. But if I has been crying for ages it might be worth a go.

Josie57 · 20/08/2008 09:24

hedgehog - 35 pairs of jeans

I thought I was a hoarder but it's nice to see someone is worse than me

The forecast for here today was supposed to be sunny but it really looks like it is going to rain. I've promised my ds that I will take him to see the ducks this morning as we had to stay in all day yesterday because of the rain so it looks like I will be getting wet

hedgehog1979 · 20/08/2008 09:29

Morning all,

Josie - you need to see the rest, I have three drawers full of T-shirts, 2 full of sweatshirts and jumpers. Feel the local charity shops will be doing very well out of me.

No ill effects from the jabs here yet, although when DH took the cotton wool off for his bath yesterday there was my babies blood on it. That was hard.

Weather looking rubbish here for today but am going to walk to Tesco's later as then I can justify treating myself to Starbucks whereas if I go in the car I can't always justify it. Also have to start stocking up on 3 - 6 sleepsuits (white) as I need to dye them before he will need them. Think he looks cuter in bright purples, oranges and turquoises although we do have the standard BLUE for when we run out

katyjo · 20/08/2008 09:29

The 1st september would suit me fine - don't have much in the diary anyway!

Laura Hopefully see you on friday!

Ernest so lovely to hear from you, glad to hear all is going well.

Better go, ds not dressed yet and its 9.30 (mummy dressed and showered though!)

pleasechange · 20/08/2008 09:57

essie if A is anything to go by, then the crying is normal! We had 2 hours solid crying from 2-4am last night - what a nightmare. I really don't know if A has colic/silent reflux/whatever, but I do know he's in pain when he cries. I've managed to get a doctors appointment for him this morning. No doubt I'll get told this is normal/nothing I can do etc. I'm going to try a cranial osteopath as well, just need to find one first

hedgehog that's some amount of jeans! I have so many clothes in my bedroom but only a few items which actually fit me . Obviously most things are way too small, but then a couple of pairs of trousers I've bought since the birth are now too big! I shall just have to look silly in them until I lose more weight, can't afford to keep buying things that only fit me for a few weeks

hedgehog1979 · 20/08/2008 10:12

Amber forgot about the flat thing. Have you thought about hanging them in the window? When I was a student I had to use my windowsil as a bookshelf and all the spines of books got bleached so that might work

Essie most of the jeans are too small (12/14) I was a 20 before I got pg am now in an 18 but some of those are too big so have some 16's as well. Belts have become my new obsession

LauraT · 20/08/2008 10:16

katyjo I'll be there, am coming with another Mum from my RL antenatal class and her wee girl Evie, come over and inttroduce yourself (and Mia!)

meanwhile, where is Neenz she had been posting very frequently and she's vanished over the last few days??

also whinegums does the 1st suit you? 1pm by the ice cream place outside JL in Buchanan Galleries...

am pleased today as my jeans that I bought last week a size bigger than pre pregnancy are definately looser, despite being washed. hoorah. not so pleased with C though as we've had a massive vomit of at least a million oz of milk, followed by a huge poonami, and then a very hungry baby who fed for 45 minutes. I'm waiting for a repeat of the vom again now after the guzzling! Yesterday she vomited all down my cleavage in the cinema, I was soaking right through to my bra, and we were only 20 minutes into dirty dancing! she did, however avoid the cinema upholstery.

bitofadramaqueen · 20/08/2008 10:42

Quick question - can anyone suggest any kind of gadget/lamp/contraption that projects lights onto the ceiling. S loves looking up at the ceiling so much and at lights generally, I'd like to get something to help ease him into his cot. Have seen this kind of thing before but cant think where or what to google.

Amber if drying space difficult have you thought about a pulley for your ceiling? Saw one on 60 second makeover yesterday (my new guilty pleasure) - they sell them in lakeland. Am seriously tempted to get one for my kitchen as fed up having the airer up constantly.

allnew infacol did nothing for S, but have to say that we saw marked improvement in his crying when we switched to dentinox. Took him off it for a day last week and crying returned. Quickly went and bought another bottle...

goingfor3 · 20/08/2008 10:45

BDQ how about this

bitofadramaqueen · 20/08/2008 12:36

Ooh, that's exactly the type of thing G43 thanks! Will have a look at that - anyone else able to suggest anything similar?

pleasechange · 20/08/2008 12:52

Thanks bdq - I forgot about dentinox, heard people talking about it before also saying it was good (it's the only thing I haven't tried yet, so a trip to the chemist this afternoon then !)

btw I have this www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3486968/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CNursery%7C10199769/c_2/2%7 Ccat10199769%7CNursery+toys%7C10199824/c3/3%7Ccat_10199824%7CCot+toys+and+mobiles%7C10199827.htm

pleasechange · 20/08/2008 16:07

OMG, now I know what a poonami is - had A in the sling while I popped out to the shops. So I heard some rumblings while in the chemist, so went to change his nappy as soon as I got home. Basically it was everywhere - had escaped from nappy, through vest and down the leg of the babygrow! Had to cut him out of it

Anyway while I was out a couple of people stopped to look at him, as he looked so cute with his head popped out of the sling looking all around him - then the shopkeeper told me I should be careful, because his head would fall back if he was tired and he would hurt his neck!! Does he think I'm stupid (funnily enough saw a thread the other day about the disparaging remarks people have received while having baby in the sling, guess I'd better get used to it!)

FiveGoMadInDorset · 20/08/2008 17:19

Just had tonights guests cancel as it is against his principles to stay next door to an army base, needless to say I was very unprofessional and told him to fuck off which I bitterly regret

Laura you don't have any principles about that do you.

alipalli · 20/08/2008 17:46

Fivegomad what a nutter that guest must be. It's not as though you ARE the military base. I would have responded in the same way.

Amberc · 20/08/2008 17:50

allnew see yesterday's post from me - I had the same thing and had to cut Luke out too (lucky he was wearing a crappy outfit!). Had a massive poonami again today (of course while I was out not at home) so I think he has an upset tummy. He was terrible this morning - really crying which he never does in the a.m. He must havehad a tummy ache poor thing - I feel bad now for gettin pissed off

bitofadramaqueen · 20/08/2008 18:03

5gomad at your guests. How on earth can it be against principles to stay near an army base FFS. I hope you have a deposit to retain!

Thanks allnew another good suggestion re: light show. Can it be projected onto ceiling? On the subject of dentinox the good thing is it takes effect immediately so no need for it to build up in system. Cant remember if you FF or BF but if FF you can put the dose in the bottle too.

Trauma - has anyone seen the news about the hairdresser who's gone to jail for stealing thousands of pounds of hairstraighteners and selling them on ebay? Its my hairdresser, and while I wouldn't condone what he's done, WTF am I going to do for a hairdresser? He's really really good!

spongebrainbigpants · 20/08/2008 19:50

Hi guys, I apologise in advance if this sounds hideously paranoid (I'm very tired and emotional at the moment), but I haven't posted much in the last few days cos I feel like the last few posts I've done (questions I've asked and suggestions I've made to others) have been totally ignored and I'm not sure why .

With a couple of exceptions, other posters will come on and respond to everyone else's post but mine - just don't feel part of the post natal club anymore .

Have I said something to upset someone?
