Hope you all have a fantastic day and the lo's all get what they asked Santa for

Merry Christmas all!!!!

Hope the day goes well for all of you. I am scoffing Baileys and relaxing. No Christmas dinner to prep or organise yippee. Ds1 in town with mates, hoping he hasn't gone to any pubs and ds2 watching Star Wars. DD's have been asleep for ages. DH gone to have a couple of pints (1st time in 18 years) with ds1's gf's dad.

So all very peaceful here I am normally frazzled about now.

Presents all in my huge walk in kitchen cupboard ready to put out later once the ds's are in bed and that's it all done.

Here's to a fab 2009 for us all xxx

Hope everyone had a fantastic christmas. We certainly did. Our christmas eve party was a great success, and we had all Dh's family here for Christmas Day, DH cooked up a storm all morning, the lunch was really delis, then it took me the next few hours to clean up! Then we had a mammoth 3 hour game of Trivial Pursuits with me drinking gin and being scintillating and extremely clever throughout

Then to my parents on Boxing Day, which was quite a tame affair as my Dad was knackered as he has to do it all these days as my mum is incapable....

Got some great presents, Sat Nav from DH (he says he's going to program in where the oven is, ha bleeding ha), DVDs, CDs, books, make up, nail varnish, 3 pashminas, digital photo frame, masses os stuff, very lukcy girl. The boys got piles of stuff.

Anyway, onwards and upward, birthday party this afternoon, supposed to be working next week, but nursery is closed and DH is working so that should be interesting...

oh and a small mattter of.................................................................................................. ......CONGRATULBLOODYLATIONS RHINEY!!!!!!!What a beautiful name I love it! I hope she is being a good girl.

Hello all

Have had another Christmas Dinner at PIL today so am sick of food and have still got the turkey to strip and boil for soup tomorrow. I don't need a Sat Nav to find my oven unfortunately.

Need to swap some slippers and a cardigan in M&S but how likely is that going to be? Despite hinting to everyone about a Mamma Mia DVD I didn't get one so have bought it this morning from Tesco and for a hefty price methinks.

Hope all OK.

Hey all - hope you all enjoyed your Christmasses . Ours as you would expect was pretty laid back, mum cooked a roast for us and Dom was v excited by the pudding. Verity slept through the whole thing.

Feeling pretty tired, but bossing DH about to get things done and lazing around myself. Mum went home yesterday so think things may get a little scuzzy housework-wise... MIL has invited herself to stay Tues - Thurs, which I'm a bit peeved about as I asked that we didn't ahve any overnight visitors (barring my mum) for the first couple of weeks. Mum has told me to stay strong and give her a list of chores to do and retire to bed to feed the baby .

Will try and get some pics up later.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 28/12/2008 19:26

I think I have managed to create a profile and put a pic of DS & DD... Will put some more on my facebook later.

FrostyTheSnowman · 28/12/2008 20:04

Success Rhinestone-they are both beautiful children. Difficult to stay strong when MIL are around a new baby. Sending you virtual strength! {{hugs}}

thefortbuilder · 29/12/2008 17:24

Rhinestone - congratulations you clever thing! They are both beautiful, and a wonderful name as well.

can't remember what everyone else has said recently except happy christmas to you all - sorry it's so late but I've just not ahd the chance to come on here for ages.

I too was very lucky although I do have to buy and wrap all my gifts myself so I always know what I'm getting. except dh did surprise me with a lovely fancy leather organiser, and then tell me I can get a handbag if the one i want is in the sale - which it is at mulberry and I got it today

jacob has had time out a few times over the christmas period, and is trying to drop his nap.....but he is sleeping better and is staying in his own bed and waking up a little less so that's something. He also opened all of sam's gifts and kept wandering into the front room with the christmas tree in muttering "more presents" to himself!!! he'd have opened everyone's gifts if he had his way.

christmas dinner went well and jacob had goose! we did say it was chicken but he looked at it suspiciously and said "doesn't look like chicken" but then stuffed it down anyway!!!

think that's it! what's everyone up to for NYE? we are out for dinner party for the first time in a few years!

OP posts:
RhinestoneCowgirl · 29/12/2008 18:32

flick - DS was the same with 'helping' people to open their presents. He was particularly attached to a calendar that my mum got with large colour photos of parrots. Most disappointed when she took it home with her!

Thanks for all the lovely congrats messages, still feeling pretty loved-up. . Although slightly grrr that I spoke to MIL on the phone the other day and she said 'DH said you haven't decided on a name...' Which prob means she doesn't like it, but that's her issue. Trying to focus on the fact that she's only going to be here for about 48 hrs (aware I must sound like a complete bitch, she just wants to see her grandchildren, but I find her such hard work).

There are some more pics on my facebook page if any of you are interested...

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 29/12/2008 20:41

Rhinestone - just checked out your photos - gorgeous!! How is Dom coping with the new arrival??

Glad everyone had a good Christmas - ours was good but very hectic. Having said I didn't want to do much, obviously with having a 5-week old in the house, I ended up doing Christmas lunch for us and MIL, Christmas buffet tea for the above plus my parents and then Boxing Day lunch for us, MIL and my parents - no idea how that happened - but I survived

Me and Dh didn't buy each other anything to open on Christmas Day - I had already bought some jewellery and DH had bought a Blackberry so those were our presents!

Josh also helped everyone else open their presents It was quite funny as one of my friends had given him something which looks quite babyish and as soon as he opened it, he tossed it aside saying 'Baby Sam's'. DH's aunty had also got the tags muddled up on Josh and Sam's presents so he opened up Sam's, which was obviously a baby toy, and again tossed it aside saying 'Baby Sam's' - the lad is very clear about what he feels is appropriate for him anyway

Flick - no plans at all for NYE - I hate NYE anyway so we rarely do anything but definitely not this year. It wouldn't surprise me if I am in bed for 10

FrostyTheSnowman · 29/12/2008 21:10

No plans here either for NYE, nobody really to babysit.

Hope all OK and not too full.

aGalChangedHerName · 30/12/2008 07:07

Morning all!!

We are in for NYE (as we have been for the past 17 years lol) I like to spend it at home with the ds's (dd's will be in bed tho) and we have a drink and see the Bells in together.

It has been a very weird Xmas for me this year. I feel like i am being punished for daring to live my own life and stop pandering to my db and my parents. My mum had to be asked outright if she was going to see my dc on Xmas day as she dropped off a card with money in it for each dc on Xmas eve?? I mean WTF is that all about

Haven't seen her since the 3 hours she managed to spare on Xmas night. I think my db is up in court today (drunk driving and assaulting a police officer i have heard) and my mum hasn't mentioned it at all. I only hear about this stuff from my db's ex. Ach well what can i do? DH says it's her loss if she loses touch with my dc and us. I can't see why she would put my brother before my dc and i? He's not exactly a great guy is he?

Have you all been reading about the moldies thing??? This place is strange sometimes huh?

Eilidh has made the transition to her own bed in her big sisters room like a little star!! Has slept from 7.30pm to after 8am most mornings and never up during the night. Has made all the difference to how not tired i feel these days.

I am doing a Christmas dinner for us and ds1's gf on New Years Day as we had curry on the Day itself. I am so loking forward to it!! It's not been Christmas without turkey etc lol.

Hope things are going well for you Rhinestone. DD looks beautiful,i feel How daft eh? x

Hope you all have a good New Year xxx

FrostyTheSnowman · 30/12/2008 09:37

Oh agalch, New Year is going to have to be you trying to ignore their ways and live your own life. Dear me.

I knew someone that got fed up of waiting for a taxi so jumped in the car and smashed into a lamp post, left the car and went home. Of course the police found it and went to his house and he denied all even though he was blind drunk then assaulted a police officer. He was an accountant and travelled in his job. Was banned for a year and fined but he got through it all and your DB will too. It will be the shock he needs to stop him doing it again. Have had to threaten my FIL not to drink and drive.

Yes, sort of go the gist of the Moldies thing but who has a right to decide who is to be invited?

Everybody else OK and ready for the New Year. Think we may be going to SIL's now.

Big wave!

aGalChangedHerName · 30/12/2008 12:11

I don't ever even have a glass of wine if i am going to drive. I can be merry on half a glass so wouldn't dare.

DH reckons you can get jail time depending on the circumstances of assaulting a PC. I honestly don't care anymore I haven't the energy to be worrying about any of my extended family anymore. It would be different if it were a two way thing but it's not lol.

Just been shopping and spent money the girls got for xmas and had a great time shopping with them. Got boots and trainers each from Clarks for £53 and 2 prs trews each/2 tops each/1 skirt each and a new parka style jacket each from H & M for £64 so bargins galore!!

Off to watch a DVD with girls (prob Mamma Mia again lol)while DH and DS1 are at work and DS2 away at a sleepover yeehah. Peace perfect peace

thefortbuilder · 30/12/2008 17:39

i kind of read a few things about the moldies thing but is it a sep group that has been going for ages and they've all just been outed or is it a thing that we're all supposed to be desperate to join as we are all desperate to find out just what has happened to cod etc..... [yaaaaaawn]

sorry it's just such popular girl at school which i all thought we had all grown out of.

rant over!

we have been invited out to a dinner party which should be fun as we normally just stay in and end up falling asleep by 10, wake up just before 12 and then curse everyone who has fireworks in their gardens [bah humbug emoticon]

not much else to report except i have done without a hairdryer for so long and treated myself to one with boots points just before christmas (says the girl who shanked a load of money on a fanc new handbag yesterday ), and my hair is straight again!!!!! have had 3 compliments on it already this afternoon - makes me wonder how shit it was looking previously

off out for dinner with dh on a date tonight, although he has a work call at 9pm so it's early out and early back! plus we both have sore throats...

HC did you see 39 steps the other night? it had adam carter in it and i'm v of anyone that saw it!

OP posts:
FrostyTheSnowman · 30/12/2008 18:13

flick-of course I saw the 39 Steps. Am still swooning over it now especially when he stripped off!

Blossomingintoachristmasfairy · 31/12/2008 08:08

I Sky plussed 39 steps - is it one to watch on my own or with DH? It was that or lions for lambs last night and we watched the latter, quite good!

Came home yesterday, and found DH had added an item on my to do list on the blackboard - "Have Sex" LOL!

Got a stinking cold again.

Had a lovely day yesterday, a walk by a frozen lake, boys had a great time trying to break it with sticks etc. Took my mum which was nice, but then went back to her house to give the boys lunch and she spent the whole time looking for her coat. I mean she was wearing it when we got back, walked in the house, took hat and scarf of and somewhere in the process put her coat somewhere and it was nowhere to be seen. The upsetting thing is that I know when I left (having looked everywhere for it and telling her don't worry it will turn up) she would then have spent the rest of the day walking around and around the house trying to find it. She does it with everything, keys, her handbag, wears paths out round the house looking looking looking......drives my dad to distraction because even if he finds what she is looking for and gives it to her, she puts it down and then forgets and the whole process starts again..... She knows she is confused, which makes it even worse....

Anyway, then went to my friend's for tea, she has 2 boys too, and is 7 weeks off having a third baby, and I think she is really starting to completely crap herself TBH!! Rather her than me.

Tonight we are off to friends' early doors for chili, wine and Trivial Pursuits! We have all agreed we can have a phone a friend, how hilarious! I'm going to prepare two I think. Boys will be sleeping in their new inflatable spider man beds.

Think I might take them swimming today, despite my cold, as it will really tire them out for tonight...

Don't want to go back to work next week!

Algach, I agree with your NY Res re your family, you have been give give give to them, enough is enough.

Flick, your new handbag sounds lovely. I do love mulberry bags - but could never justify buying one myself as I get bored of a bag after a few months and want to change it and if I'd spent £100s on one I wouldn't feel I could IYSWIM.

Happy New Year to all if I don't get back on!

Bloss

FrostyTheSnowman · 31/12/2008 10:56

Bloss, if you are going to drool over Rupert like me then watch alone. Quite a few holes in the story so your DH may question it but I loved it. Not sure I would have loved it as much if Rupert wasn't in it.

Difficult to know how to help your mum manage better. Must be hard for those close by.

We are deffo off to SIL's tonight so if I can shift the start of my migraine which is lingering then all will be well. Really into playing Yahtzee at the mo so hopefully we can play that.

I too am a handbag fanatic but the most I have paid was £49.99 from Bank for my Playboy bag. Otherwise £5 will suffice as I change them as often as I change my socks.

Better go and play with the girls. New Year's resolution-play more with them and less MN/Facebook time.

Happy New Year !

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!!! Hope it's a good, peaceful one for everybody.

Secondly CONGRATULATIONS to Rhinestone! Saw pix on FB - Verity is gorgeous! So happy for you all. Another friend gave birth on Xmas day - so lovely! I know it's rubbish when the kid is older, presents-wise, but I think it's a lovely xmas pressie for the parents!

Also Verity was born on our wedding day - which should help remind me of my anniversary . Had a WONDERFUL day and thanks to everyone who left lovely messages on FB. Had quite a few hiccups on the day - sprained my back in the morning, my brother nearly didn't make it and the music CD I spent ages selecting didn't work for the ceremony. But despite that (and the crappy weather - it had been glorious the day before!) we had a FAB day. V romantic and special. Ryan loved wearing his kilt and was a complete star. It was a great celebration of our 15 years together.

Then had a wonderful four days in Copenhagen. Recommend it to everyone - so much to do for kids. Fantastic.

Anyway, enough about me! Sorry about your parents again Algach. It really is their loss. You sound like a wonderful daughter and mother. They don't deserve you.

And sorry about your mum Bloss. Must be devastating watching her decline like that. So sad...

Lovely pix of the kids Annie and CB. And lovely to hear about all the now big brothers helping out opening pressies for their younger siblings! So cute.

Quiet night in for us tonight. Our flight back to Madrid was delayed last night - so we're all pretty pooped (I had to work this morning too). We don't generally do much anyway. DP whoops DH will probably cook something yummy and we'll get pleasantly pished while listening to Mark Kermode's film review of the year - bliss!!!!

Hugs to all.
