Well the car boot was shite!! Only made £15 after paying for the pitch. Was fecking freezing too. Will be sending DH to the next one lol.

Got a nice dolls moses basket thing for the dd's tho.

Having a gin and tonic and thinking about what i want for dinner. Gonna spend my £15 on take away

Then an early night i think. DH thinks he's getting his leg over tonight. I could be persuaded after another few couple of gins!!

Have a good night, off to get my lovely dd's to bed. I need some quiet before dinner.

thefortbuilder · 17/11/2008 08:44

am thinking of taking the safety rails of ds's bed for this evening and making a big deal out of what a big boy he is? also going to get a new duvet cover for him so it's a big incentive to stay in the bed... it has been better last 2 nights - didn't come down till 230 this morning and has also again stopped peeing in his nappy so that's also a plus.

they are both full of a cold again and i'm thinking of starting jacob on ab's as his cough is not shifting and it's now been over a week. that'll be fun...

not much else to say - dh away till wednesday now, and i am out for drinks tomorrow night with a girlfriend. maybe some dinner too

did anyone see the ladybirdsbutterflies etc thread? was a great double troll bluff!

OP posts:
HumphreysCorner · 17/11/2008 09:34

flick-you will have to do a link as I can't find the thread.

Clever Jacob not weeing in his nappy. Dreading starting potty training Sophie as she wees for England and permanently wets through nappies. I would take the sides off as Soph has only fell out approx 3 times.

Big wave, full of a rotten cold.

well they are those low safety rails, not cot sides so he's half way there and has been for a while, and he's had a duvet and pillow for quite a while as well and doesn't really move around much, except to kick the duvet off

sam is cutting more teeth! two came through last week and he's on for at least one more so he is very crochety today and refusing all solids!

not much else to report hope everyone else well and so sorry you still have lurgy HC

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 17/11/2008 12:55

Morning ladies,
Just a quick catch-up, been struck down again with the lurgy! Off work today again, been to the doctor, all of us, luckily it's not a chest infection this time, but a 'virus', i.e. he hasn't a notion what it is... Both babies conked on the couch right now, the in-laws are gone out with DH for something to do besides Peppa Pig!!
HC, hope yours clears up too soon. It's never-feckin-ending...

And! My sis had a baby boy yesterday, 9lb 9 oz!! Yeouch!!! Haven't heard a name yet.

Well best be off to mooch some more... too early for hot toddies I think...

ceebee74 · 17/11/2008 13:09

Hi all

Spin I am also that Josh prefers his Igglepiggle PJ's - he does, of course, have a Thomas pair but would always choose the Igglepiggle ones first - strange child sometimes

Flick it'll be fine with the safety rails off. Josh does fall out a bit but he has definitely stopped moving round now he is in his bed. It is weird - in his grobag, we often used to find him upside down etc and since he moved to duvet/pillow, his head is always in the right position (the duvet is usually on the floor though )

Annie congrats to your sister And poor you with having 2 ill ones - hope they pick up again soon.

Well only 3 more 'sleeps' to go!! Am starting to get a little nervous now tbh. Have got a pre-op appointment with the MW this afternoon so hopefully that will calm my fears a bit

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 17/11/2008 13:25

Pulled out of going to WW as felt too rough. Friend was understanding as she quite rightly said 'we don't want it'.

Off Christmas shopping again today. Mum and dad are taking me out for lunch as they are shopping too in the same town.

Big wave!

ceebee74 · 18/11/2008 08:52

Morning all

Am much calmer today - yesterday wasn't that bad - just bloody infuriating! Had appointment with MW at 2 (supposedly), sat in waiting room till 3 before going in. MW did the usual AN checks, took blood and then I had to wait for another hour to see a doctor to sign consent forms. Then MW came back for final chat and then I had to go to the pharmacy to get the drugs I need to take - cue another 30 minute wait there. By the time I left the hospital, it was well after 5 so all the staff were also leaving cue a 20 minute wait to get out of the carpark..........grrr!

Flick - how is the controlled crying going? Has Jacob fallen out of bed yet?

HC/Annie - hope you both feel better soon. It feels like we have had a constant cold in this house for about a month now - Josh might as well wander round with a muslin square attached under his nose

thefortbuilder · 18/11/2008 12:21

last night went ok. no falls out of bed but there were pillows there just in case!

he woke at 1130 but 45 mins of reading a book and then snuggling with ted and he was back to sleep til 545 this morning, so much better! he came downstairs till 720 at that point as he wasn't actually showing signs of going back to sleep (shows how much i know!)

sam is grotty as h*ll today - more teeth i suspect...

OP posts:
PixelHerder · 18/11/2008 18:35

Crikey - the old fred's been busy over the last few days! Have grabbed a large glass of red and am trying to do a quick catch up...

oooooh Ceebee, only 2 more sleeps now (is that right?). So excited for you. Does Josh have an inkling that something's up? How annoying about making you wait yesterday, just what you totally DON'T need at this stage, grrrrrrr

Sending big recovery vibes to all those struck down with lurgy, it's a grim time of year for all that stuff isn't it. Emma had a puking bug last week (at least I assume that's what it was) - about half a dozen HUGE pukes between 5pm - 11pm involving mucho laundry and (eeuuch) carpet-mopping, thankfully the vomming passed fairly quickly, I think she's still a bit under the weather though, poor thing (pale and grouchy).

Well the 'deadline' for potty training is here (well the one that the HV suggested anyway). Just can't imagine how it's going to work. The few attempts we've had at removing the nappy and sticking her on the potty have resulted in what seems like deep suspicion and paranoia on her part, sigh. I can just see it going the same way as trying to encourage her to eat something she has decided she's NOT going to eat, ie completely pointless and counter-productive.

Also the HV said something about not using nappies at night from the very start, which means putting a potty beside her bed (bit tricky when she's still in a cot). What's everyone doing about night-time nappies?

Gotta go, whiney child to feed [groan]

Love to all xxx

HELLO HELLO HELLO !!! It is I! The Bloss-ster! Back from me travels, t'Egypt!

Had a really really really great time. When I can remember my Photo box password I will post some pix. It had it's highs and lows of course, but no cleaning, no cooking, no tidying, 80 degrees every day, rooms fantastic, cleaned every day, 4 pools with slides and loads of floats and water guns, beach, 4 restaurants, kids club for H, creche for T, entertainment every night. Fabulous. We have booked to go back again next year.

One of the best things was our kids den room, the boy's thought it was ace to have their own room with bunk beds (H on the bottom, T on a mattress on the floor, didn't trust them up a ladder) it had a TV and DVD player and bean bags, home from home for them, and we were able to shut them in there and have peace and watch films etc on our own. Talking of moving them into beds from cots, I really need to do that with T now, he would be fine, although still managed to fall off the mattress and bloody his nose - from 3 inches off the ground!! The boys slept very well, mainly cos they were up till 10ish most nights but it was bliss to have some lie ins. We are all very tanned, but one wonders why I bothered now that I am wearing 4 layers of clothing!

H had swimming lessons, and did his 5, 10, and 15 meter badges. They both met Bob the Builder and Barney the dinosaur, we all learnt all the dances at night, really good fun. And taking the MIL worked a trest, she baby sat so we could go out for dinner and to the Adults only bar which was really classy.

Have managed to catch up on all the posts, sorry about all illnesses, congrats on Chilli the Prodigy Spin! He's such a cool dude. Not long now CB, hang on in there.

Hello to all the rest of you, will fill you in with more bits and pieces as I think of them.

Love,

Bloss

xxxx

TheGoddessBlossom · 18/11/2008 18:38

oh and T is completely dry, very proud of him, did manage to convince him to wear nappy pants on the flights and had to resort to them for a few days on hols as he got a runny bum, but back home now he is back to normal and it's big boy pants all the way! What is it about little boy's bums in pants.....

HumphreysCorner · 18/11/2008 19:33

Yo Bloss-great to see you back mate! Can't wait to see those pics.

Pixel-your HV is not on this planet methinks. Emma was not interested in potty training until nearly 3 and she was nearly 4 before she was dry at night. Sooo, am not starting Sophie until well into the New Year. I refuse to be pressurised like last time!

Oh, there is an eeny baby on Eastenders at the moment.

Laters!

Bloss welcome back Sounds like the holiday was fab and the accommodation sounds just what I am after for next year - what company was it with? And well done T for being dry!

Pixel I would just ignore the HV - what do they know?? Potty training is one of those things that varies so much between children, how can they 'set a deadline'?? Josh is nowhere near ready and I am in no hurry (despite MIL's little digs ) so I really wouldn't bother right now if you don't think Em is ready either.

Not sure if Josh has any clue about what is going on - he knows 'BabaSam' is in mummy's tummy but I do often wonder just what he thinks 'BabaSam' is Nursery have been really good and have been doing some 'work' on families etc and said they will make sure he knows what is going on on Thursday and maybe he can make a card for the baby ready for when DH picks him up to come to the hospital to visit. Plus I am sure his Thomas carrycase that the baby has 'bought' for him will go down well

TheGoddessBlossom · 19/11/2008 06:55

CB it was the First Choice Holiday Village in the Red Sea, Sharm ek Sheik. You can find it pretty easily on the First Choice website, it will make you do a search for a particular holiday with dates.

The place is totally geared up for people with young kids. There were teeny tiny babies there, 3 month olds in the creche, the nursery nurses give you a mobile phone when you drop your child off in case they don't settle, lots of them seemed to book their child in to have ther day time sleep in their pram in there to give the parents time in the sun instead of having to hole up in their room while they slept. Security was very good, signatures were checked when signing in and out and only the adult that dropped the child off could pick them up.

aGalChangedHerName · 19/11/2008 07:05

Bloss glad you had a good holiday.

We were at the First Choice holiday village in Turkey last year and we loved it. Were going to try it again next year but going instead to the in-laws place in Paphos.

Been to apartments before in Cyprus and it is lovely there. The flights were £2700 for us 6 and ds1's GF (ds1 and his gf are paying for their own flights tho as they are both working) and we don't have to pay for the accommodation so has worked out ok cash wise.

Got docs this morning to discuss poss op for my gall stones. Gonna ask her about the Mirena too as my AF is still a nightmare

Have a good day all xx
