hi leifmum - i am bored at work too - have been busy for the last few weeks but think the housing market thing is finally catching up with us in the office and everyone is pretty quiet.

am absolutely dreading telling work about being pg - but will leave it longer than 12 weeks this time round i think. nothing they can do about it, and they presumably suspect i would have more dc, but think the timing will be a lot shorter than they were expecting. but tough really.

lol at the cat waking you james - i certainly dont envy all those with baby pets as well as baby people - but then i've never had one so dont know much about it. bet its cute though.

all these babies and their teeth - ds still has 4 but has been drooling a river for weeks so i really hope that means some more are on their way. Surely that much dribble has to accompish something!

helibee · 25/08/2008 12:16

hiya, just a quick hello, will try and catch up again later.

Callum has been really poorly for the last 2 weeks and have had the doc out a few times, anyway, hopefully he's on the mend now.

Hope you're all ok, i also see congrats are in order conkertree

My2 · 25/08/2008 12:49

congrats conker - hope you are keeping ok? how many weeks are you (i'm sure i should be able to work it out from the dates).

i had to waken dd2 this morning - poor thing is choked again. will try and get a photo up with her showing off all her teeth [teeth]

helibee i've still got callum's pressie here. hope he's ok?

knickers - eye teeth are the incisors - either side of the 4 front ones. once she gets these through she only got her big, fat molars at the very back to get - though generally these don't come through till they are about 2ish.

james - i hope that you had a litter tray nearby and it wasn't your pillow that was getting pee'd on

conkertree · 25/08/2008 12:55

helibee - sorry to hear about calum - hope it wasnt too serious and that he's on the mend.

my2 - only 5 weeks just now so very early days yet. hope dd2 feels better soon.

meandmyjoe - meant to say - ds does exactly the same face - sometimes he does it so i'll rub noses with him - but usually just cause he can i think .

conkertree · 25/08/2008 13:17

was just reading a random thread in behaviour and development, and somebody was posting about their little girl - the title has the word poppet in it, and in her post she says that she knows poppet is not an acceptable word on mn but she couldnt think of another at the time.

I am confused - why would poppet be a bad thing to call your daughter? I remember my mum calling me it lots.

hi knickers! looking forward to going home now. generally once i knuckle down to do something i'm fine and i've actually got loads done today so feeling quite smug! it's just the initial though of it all which gets me down. i'll dig those nappies out later and hopefully get back to you in the next couple of days to let you know what p+p will be. onion bhaji, yum yum!!

i call my dd poppet all the time, are we missing something here?

conkertree · 25/08/2008 16:14

hiya and welcome jukie

my2-don't worry about the pressie-Your dd2's didn't exactly arrive on time from us

James-Callum has had a similar thing with his bottom-at lunch time on his b irthday we changed his nappy an his bottom was fine, 2 hours later he looked like a baboon, 2 hours after that it started weeping and bleeding! He's been on antibiotics, antibacterial creams and anti fungal meds and plenty of 'adheres to everything in sight' m. The following day for 15 hours straight he had a dirty nappy every 10 min-which then became green and mucousy because he was so distressed (sorry about TMI). Anyway he also wouldn't let us pick him up (even though he kept putting his arms up for cuddles) as it caused him so much pain he was screaming in agony! I cried at every nappy change at how much pain he was in! He is on the mend now though and we had his dedication on sun and all the family were up which was nice!

His cousin can't say Callum so he calls him Calpol-which just makes me giggle.

Aside from all of that he loves feeding himself with his spoon and if there's somthing on his tray he wants and his hands are full he does an apple bobbing manouvre and tries to pick it up with just his mouth

hope everyone is ok

helibee · 26/08/2008 02:14

btw the cream that 'adheres to everything in sight' was supposed to read metanium not just 'm'

conkertree · 26/08/2008 08:42

poor wee callum - he must have been miserable (and no doubt you all too). Good that he's getting better.

So have you and my2 been meeting up then? Think I've missed a Scottish meet up - I remember it was talked about for a while, but I must have missed it. Any chance of meeting up again as I'd like to do something with some mummies in rl?

Where to start...??!!!!

Helibee - It sounds to me like teething rash which is different to nappy rash I'm afraid and no cream touches it . I've found the only thing to make a difference is the Ashton & Parsons teething powders as they settle the stomach and calm whatever it is that makes their bottoms just so bad. Fingers crossed for you....

Congrats Conker !!! Welcome to the gang! Am 20 weeks now and off for my scan this Thursday afternoon which is always a cue for some stressing and angst beforehand.

Got a letter on Saturday inviting Paddy to a 'group developmental assessment' at our health centre which I assumed was their way of doing a one year check. Was a little bit when I realised that the invitation was for a session being held on Fri 22nd Aug..... Impressive eh ?

Party went well on Saturday thank goodness and all seemed to have a great time. Kids LOVED Loopy Loo and everyone loved the evening magician too. I barely spoke to anyone properly, had nothing to eat/drink as is always the way at my own parties as am so busy running around doing stuff, and then I 'took Paddy for a bottle in my bedroom where it was quiet' at 9pm and never went back down hehehehehe !!

many congrats Conker. April sounds a lifetime away though!

Good luck with your scan on thursday TT - are you going to find out the colour of your bean again??

Sorry for everyone who has bad nappy / teething rash. Poor little mites - it sounds awful and I hope the babies recover quickly.

Sorry to hear about your rude awakening James - not a good way to start the day!

helibee · 26/08/2008 21:55

hiya, Callum is a little better but his bottom is stil not right!

TT-we already use the teething granules and to no effect either-beacuse he was just recovering from a tummy bug i think that just exacerbated it all!!! Good luck with the scan-I;m so so so broody!

conker-no meet up yet, how about the end of september what about sat 27th at Blair Drummond or somewhere like that?

Knickers-how is your wee cutie? I haven't forgotten about trying to meet up with you when we're down at my brothers-although it 'll prob be in nov now-let us know nearer the time-we don't want to overwhelm you so soon after your wee boy has arrived.

James-your kitten sounds more of a monkey than James! How have you been finding the ad's? you seem happier on here now and back to posting more often.

Anyway we just booked a last minute holiday to the hilton in aviemore for 5 days so i'll be back on monday.

helibee · 26/08/2008 21:59

p.s conker-can you email me some pics of some kilts you've made-dh wants a look!

hersetta-how's work? How is Caitlin, is your mum over from Spain again soon?

Hersetta · 27/08/2008 08:45

Hi Helibee - glad Callum is slightly better. Caitlin is generally fine, a really cheeky monkey though and thinks she can get away think anything by flashing a cute grin and a 'Dad dad dad'. She so cheeky - she knows where we keep her dummies so crawls over to the table, stands up, helps herself to one and scurries away with a grin on her face!

She's had a tummy bug the last 24 hrs though and was sick half a dozen times yesterday - just couldn't keep anything down so she got through the day on breadsticks and water. I know she must have been feeling poorly as when I got home from work she cuddled up to me on the sofa, laid her head on my chest and stayed that way for an hour before falling asleep. When she woke up she perked right up and looked more like her normal self. Didn't hear a peep from her last night so hopefully she's fully recovered. Poor DH had to change her clothes 4 times yesterday and himself twice! Washing machine on overtime last night!

Mum is over from spain in a couple of weeks - after Cait's birthday and we (me and Cait)are going over for 5 days at the end of september. Not looking forward to the flight by myself though now she is more wriggly!

Sorry you're having such a bad time Knickers - i do feel for you. Caitlin is prone to the odd tantrum when you take away an item she knows she really shouldn't have but is usually quickly distracted by another toy or by baby tv.

I must admit I really shouted at her last week (and she was poorly with a streaming cold). I'd been up with her since 4am with her and she's gone back to bed at 6am and i got ready for work, when i got home DH was going to football and she didn't stop whinging and crying. Every time I tried to put her to bed, she'd cry even though i could see she was exhausted, so i left her to cry for 5 mins in her cot and she cried so much she made herself sick, so I had to change her growbag and her bedding. She still wouldn't stop so I shouted at her 'Caitlin, will you just shut the f* up' cue even louder cries from her, which then made me cry as I knew I'd been horrid to her just because I was tired. She finally fell asleep on me at 10.15 and I managed to put her to bed. Had a large glass of wine and then I went to bed!

Hopefully it's just a phase, like mosts things with them seem to be and she'll grow out of it soon. You have my sympathies.

lizziemun · 27/08/2008 09:56

Knickers

Sorry you having a bad time.

Lexie like this you would think she is in so much pain when i leave the room. All you can hear in amongst the crying/screaming 'mummummummummum' then more screaming.

DH has been on holiday for the last week and half and he has seen what she is like and has said i don't know how you cope all day. To which i replyed because i have too, while i keep saying in my head its a phase repeat over and over again .
