Aaaarggh! Dd1 has just scared me witless! Poor little mite (ok she's 10 but still) has tonsillitis. It's really nasty and she's got horrible abs. (Sorting out childcare so I could do the interview today was a bit of a nightmare to say the least) Anyway she went off to bed before 7 ok. Not hot and in quite good spirits. Right after I last posted I found her outside the study trying to open the door - I'd closed it a few minutes before because my sil rang and I didn't want to disturb the girls. Anyway she didn't seem to know why she was there. i asked her how many fingers I was holding up and she said 'four fingers and a thumb' which was right and reassuring as only my dd1 can be that pedantic but then she seemed vague and somewhere else. It was really weird and definately up there as one of my most terrifying parenting experiences! I asked her where dh was (he's in london) and she said he was downstairs then she said no he's a long way away and finally said Leeds or London. I didn't know what to do so I asked if she wanted to go back to bed and she went straight off there. Leaving me a gibbering wresck to phone dh and my nurse mil. She wasn't hot at all so we think she has woken up in a half dream, half awake state. I've calmed down a bit now, there's no signs whatsoever of any more serious problem, no high temp, no rashes and she's sleeping peacefully. Just need to resist the impulse to sleep on her floor........

mammyjo · 05/08/2008 21:26

Well done NL, fab news!! Hope dd1 is ok. Not surprised you were scared. I had to go round to my mates house last night. Her mum called me in a panic because she couldn't get hold of her and she is diabetic. She was very scary, wild looking eyes which were looking straight through me. Anyway, bottle of sprite later and she was fine!!

SOL, it has rained all day here again today. Maybe it will rain completely out before your holiday!

Dooby, such a difficult time for your family. Hope you are ok xxx

Octo, good to see you

That's me done now, night all xxx

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/08/2008 21:28

Well dne NL
Hpoe your DD is OK
Lack of sleep is getting to me

Sexonlegs · 05/08/2008 22:01

Oh NL, how scary. Poor dd1 and you.

B can be like that sometimes if she wakes up in the night. She has never come downstairs, but if she is crying and you go in she is away with the fairies. She never remembers it either. She talks in her sleep too. She slept in with me and dh the other morning just from about 6.15 until 7.30, and she shouted out "I can spell it!"

POTC, enjoy your smirnoff ices

MJ, I hope there are some things to do indoors in Wales!!

Off to bed now.

See you all tomorrow. x

Sexonlegs · 05/08/2008 22:02

Oh n SPB, things not good? x

lexilex · 05/08/2008 22:46

hello everyone, hope you are all well, havent time to read through, but should be back on here more often,

thing are still rubbish with d, found out last night hes been txting some girl, but loads of messages have been deleted so it looks dodgy, and were are bickering constantly, cant wait till his leg is better so he can move out,

so ill be able to catch up with you all now, xxxxx

elkiedee · 05/08/2008 23:04

Hi Lexi, good to see you back but sorry to hear that you're still having a rough time

NL, hope your dd is ok

D startled us earlier. He woke up at 5.30 am today and apparently didn't sleep at CM's, so was rather tired and grisly and it was a bit wet for the park. Eventually put Teletubbies DVD on as watching that was the only thing that seemed to pacify him, and dp got home. He was sat on dp's lap watching, then they had a bit where one of the Tubbies slips in the snow and slides down on his bum, then the others start doing it, and it's playing. D wailed every time one of them started sliding, he must have thought they were falling and hurting themselves. But he was so distressed. Funny little boy.

Pisha · 05/08/2008 23:25

Dooby - so sorry things are so tough fot you and your family atm

Elkie and Oooggs - sorry you're both feeling/being sick atm, hope it passes soon for you both.

Eddas - yay for new car!!!

Lexi - good to 'see' you, hope thingsd get sorted for the better soon.

Ange - at laptop. Hope you get it sorted soon.

NL - congrats on new job!

POTC - at child free night, yoyur turning into a bit of a regular drinker of late pissheadofthecommunity???

Dippy - my friend has liver/kidney type problems and when she has shaky moments she has been told to drink a bottle (the small ones!) of Lucozade to help. I'm sure you not got same thing (its extremely rare) but thought it might be something worth trying anyway. Hope dr visit on Thurs has you feeling back on top form asap

Am knackered, has been non stop here for weeks. Still Nath's birthday and party went really well, he had great time (see pics on Ellie's facebook!).

Maia came back from her week at her dads being an absolute pita though, all stroppy and whingy and argumentative but seems to be settling back into things now. Apart from 1 incident this morning of her snarling at Nathan shes been really lovely and helpful all day

I may have found a house swap!! Its only up the road and is same house as mine except they have lounge through diner which makes it much more spacious and means more cupboards in kitchen as the door to dining room is no longer there. The built in cupboards have been knocked out of both children's bedrooms upstairs which makes them bigger and better shapes for fitting furniture in. And the garden is much better lay out than mine, has bigger patio area by house and lawn is completely flat whereas mione is all different levels and slopes and generally crap! They only moved in a month ago as a favouir to a friend but have ds1, 19, who is stuck in smallest room which really is too small for him, and ds2,6, and dd,4 sharing bigger bedroom but going to be wanting their own rooms before lkong so they want my house so that ds1 can use the dining room as a bedroom and other 2 can have a room each. They came round to look for 2nd time this evening and seem really keen so just waiting on phonecall in next feew days hopefully to say for definite either way

Sorry for apalling typing but too tired to go through and correct it all!

Pisha · 05/08/2008 23:34

Elkie - bless D getting all upset at teletubbies falling down, that is so sweet!

Had my 'now your child is 5' email from mumsnet the other day. Some very true bits in there, partic the bit about him not understanding jokes yet. Nath is always telling m,e jokes along the lines of:

knock knock

whos there

penguin

penguin who

penguin pooed on his head

and I'm expected to laugh hysterically There was also a bit saying they should be able to read their own name and count to 10 or 15 which was really nice to read. With Nathan having been at school a year hes being compared to other reception children and is generally behind most of them but reading the general expectations for 5 yos is very reassuring as he can count and read much more than that. Its so ridiculous that hes had to be at school for a year already at english schooling system! Anyway I wont get into that rant again!! Just nice to see expecvtations of children his age as opposed to children in his school year iyswim.

liath · 06/08/2008 07:46

Hi everyone!

Congratulations on the new job, NL - well done!

Hope it goes well at the docs tomorrow, Dippy and you can get some kind of explanation.

Dippy, that's such pants news about your DH . Thinking of you.

Hi to everyone. Haven't caught up well as I've had a houseful of folk staying to do festival stuff. They've gone now so it's just me, the kids and an enormous pile of sheets & towels to dry. What fun.

It's tipping down today & I can't think of anywhere to go that won't be full of damp tourists....

Scottish ladies - I sent an email about possibly meeting up, did anyone get it?

mammyjo · 06/08/2008 09:28

Morning all.

Lexi, I hope you get things sorted out asap. It must be awful sharing a house with him just now. Take care xx

SPB, are you having a tough time with T sleeping again? Hope you are ok

SOL, there are things to do when it rains, thankfully! Although so far it is dry today, very cloudy, but dry

Liath, you sound like you have had a busy time lately! Hope the rain clears for you too

Pisha, I read that email from MN too and was inwardly pleased that ds can also do much more than it said would be expected of him. Crossing fingers for your house swap

POTC, what did you think of the film, any good? I haven't seen that one, but was going to get it. Let me know whether I should bother!

Not sure what we are going to do today. If it stays dry I might take the dc's to a local park. We were out at a soft play place yesterday and are supposed to be meeting a friend tomorrow for more of the same. My bank balance can't keep up with it. Those places are really expensive by the time you add in food and drinks too!

mammyjo · 06/08/2008 09:33

CD, glad you have a GP appointment for tomorrow. The waiting is awful, but at least by tomorrow afternoon you will know what the problem is, and start being able to sort it out. Hope you are ok today

oooggs · 06/08/2008 15:26

hi all

crap night a mixture of children and can't sleep myself even though exhausted

internet down in the dippy household so she can't work or MN - she sends love and thoughts to you all and she will be back when its fixed

lexi - hope you are ok

pisha - house sounds great - hope it all goes through

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2008 17:46

hi everyone

PillockOfTheCommunity · 06/08/2008 18:05

Hi all
I'm working more than usual this week, full days every day, so not about as much

Still, doing a full day meant I could go to the pub at lunchtime (and yesterday too!)

Lots to do at home, getting house ready for Skott to stay next week so have to drag myself away from MN!

elkiedee · 06/08/2008 20:06

Evening all, know you're about, as I saw a cluster of our posts on another thread, sadly a worrying news one. Misdee's dh is back in hospital .

Sexonlegs · 06/08/2008 20:40

Evening

Poor Misdee and Peter. What a rough time.

How is everyone?

POTC, why so much work activity?

SPB, how are you doing?

Oooggs, sorry you are feeling so knackered.

Brain emptied.

Had a pants night too. K was awake at 4. She went back to sleep fine, but I didn't. Dh was up t 6, and B woke up at 6.15. Luckily she played downstairs for a bit before getting me up.

Had a relaxed morning and then went to a fab country park and met up with an old school friend and her 2 children. Had a fab time and K in particular was on great form. She really is a honey

Doobydoo · 07/08/2008 11:59

Hi All
Hope everyone ok.Hope you ok Dippy.

mammyjo · 07/08/2008 12:15

Hi all. Dooby, hope you are ok

Dippy, hope the gp appointment goes ok today. Thinking of you xxx

Have been to the GP myself this morning to talk about the pill (again). She has actually recommended that I don't go back on anything and get a coil fitted. I am starting to think that it might be a good option.
And the ultra good news is that she weighed me today and my BMI has come down by 8 points I am very chuffed with myself!!

oooggs · 07/08/2008 13:32

well done mj

dippy still has no internet access

very very quiet

I am home sick, very dizzy as well as the sickness and tiredness - infact this is the worst pregnancy

seeing the midwife this afternoon so should hear the heartbeat

PillockOfTheCommunity · 07/08/2008 13:59

lots of work because M is away so only have J to find childcare for.

And because there's work to do, so I'll do the hours now then take them off another time

Been down the pub again

OP posts:
mammyjo · 07/08/2008 15:21

Very of all your pub expeditions POTC!

Oooggs, I really feel for you. Can't even begin to imagine what it must be like, feeling horrendous, and still having to look after 3 children. I struggled with only ds to manage when I was carrying F, and that was tough. Will be lovely for you to hear the heartbeat though

It has just been ds and I today. F in nursery and dh in work. We have had a lovely calm day with cinema in the lounge! I was going to take ds to the real cinema but he didn't want to go, so we had pop and sweets with a film at home instead! It was fab. He is out riding his bike in the garden now, he definitely needs a new one. He looks huge on it! One for the santa list I think
