we favour an arguement just as DP is about to leave for somewhere (preferably long haul). Usually follows him asking for a selection of photos of the kids/the multi-plug/the speakers for his ipod/any other random thing he has decided he needs but I can't put my hands on immediately 12 seconds before he is about to leave.

sorry to hear about the row Bumper. I noticed Lcy hasn't been on her thread. Is she OK?

Hi everyone

Bumperlicious · 22/08/2008 16:41

No news foxy, assuming her phone has been turned off and have stopped texting her as it seems to be making her more stressed! Don't really want to ring home phone either. I figure she'll communicate through her thread if she needs me.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 17:12

I usually leave off ringing pregnant friends when it's close to (and certainly past) their due date. I reckon it must get really annoying and that they are capable of picking up a phone if they want me.

Had a lovely afternoon round at a friends. Her DS is 6 weeks younger than jamlet and they played nicely together

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 17:15

We usually argue the night before we go anywhere, when I'm running round like a blue-ar$ed fly getting everything ready, and DH is watching TV or something until I tell him he has to go pack his clothes.

Sputnik · 22/08/2008 17:22

Now I come to think of it we row very little but leaving for somewhere is 1 of the things that can spark it. There is usually a plane/ferry to catch and we have rather different ideas of how much time to leave as a margin of error.

We did miss the ferry once and had to stay overnight at the port which has at least given me the chance to remind him about it everytime. Another time we had planned to get a ferry to Croatia, missed it and drove instead, not a great idea.

He's missed planes for work a couple of times too. But will he listen to me? No.....

LackaDAISYcal · 22/08/2008 17:36

DH is usually more organised than me ...but I have me, DS and DD to pack for, where he just has himself. It's always me who organises bedding, towels, tea-towels and the food, so maybe I can be forgiven for running around hopelessly. He does all the loading and unloading of the car though!

Had a lovely day in Harrogate and have made some potential contacts for both the nappy and usborne book business. Feeling quite bouyed up by it! Jammy, I noticed you had entered the prize draw! Had a momentary panic incase it was me who had to provide the prize, but it's an Usborne-wide draw

Your household sounds similar to us Daisy. I wash everything in advance, pack for me & DD, organise & pack any bedding, towels, food, stuff for DD etc, get maps, important documents, directions etc organised. I make sure the house is in a reasonable state before we go, that cat sitters are arranged, that there's cat food, litter etc etc to hand for them. I make sure there's nothing left in the fridge or the veg rack or the fruit bowl that'll go rank while we're away. All DH has to so is pack his stuff. He actually packs the car but I help carry everything to the car ready to be packed.

justbeme · 22/08/2008 20:07

Snap Jammy!!

Am waiting on my friday fish n chips

also waiting on Freecycle people to respond to my email as Im offering some stuff - god its a pain!

L is doing more and more steps today and she pulls a funny face with her mouth in an inwards circle when she does it!! Bless!

Fury - have you ever eaten in that Yates bar in Reading that was on TV last night??

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/08/2008 20:35

Evening everyone.

Hope all that went to the meet up (did anybody go?) had a lovely time. I am very that I didn't get to meet everyone, but when I have passed my test I can do what the fuck I like and go to all meet ups and meet all you lovely ladies! Can't wait!

I am very sad about holiday packing, I love it! I always start to pack weeks in advance, it makes the holiday build up so much longer and more exciting! I actually pack dp's stuff for him, so he doesn't even have to bother with that. I buy all his clothes for him anyway, so I know exactly what he has and what he wears when. I feel I mother him too much! Oh well, he doesn't have a mummy, so I like to make up for it a bit and look after him. He has a good life !

I am going to my swanky wedding tomorrow and my right knee has swollen to twice the size of the left! It was really bad a few days ago and I couldn't walk at all, but it has got a bit better after using copious amounts of ibuprofen gel and my knee support. I stupidly went to John Lewis earlier to pick up the wedding present and didn't wear the support...doh! I was walking round town dragging my right leg behind me (I can't bend it to lift it up) and nearly crying with the pain, and that was with using the pushchair as a walking frame! Now it is even worse. I will be fine for the wedding, but won't be able to wear my lovely new shoes and I don't know what to do about the knee support. I am going to have to wear it, but it will show and it is really ugly and old lady beige! It'll ruin my outfit! I have this dress, do I just let the support show or do I wear leggings? Either way it's not a good look!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 20:44

Holly, sorry to hear about your knee. Not sure what to suggest about your outfit. If it were me I'd consider a complete change and wear trousers instead. But I suspect looking at that dress that you are more stylish than me, so what do I know?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/08/2008 20:48

Thanks jammy, I would have considered an outfit change, but I don't have any trousers that aren't jeans or pjs! I think I'll just wear the support then at least people will be able to see the reason why I am walking like I've shat myself !

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 20:50

LOL Holly! I guess that at least if people see the support they'll think "Poor Holly" not "what an idiot, ruining a lovely dress by wearing a pair of leggings"

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/08/2008 20:57

PMSL! I think showing the support and showing the pain on my face may be the way forward, then people might buy me drinks too!

Sputnik · 22/08/2008 21:15

Good plan!
Nice dress

foxythesnowfox · 22/08/2008 21:17

lovely dress Holly! sorry about your knee thats shite.

LOL Jammy! Its the same in our house. I'm usually making a packed lunch (for 6) in my pj's when he's loaded the car and starts hassling me "why aren't you ready?" Funny, when he packs the car we struggle with any footspace not taken up with bags. I packed it last week for 5 of us, got it all in the boot (travel cot and buggy included) and in the floorspace infront of the baby.

Shit. Forgot the Euromillions draw.

DPs back on Monday for a week. Its going to be shite, I predict. Plus my period is due then. What fun it'll be!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/08/2008 21:17

Hi sputnik x

Is it still hot in Italy?

foxythesnowfox · 22/08/2008 21:17

'lo lovely Sputnik! x-post. How are you this fine evening?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 21:19

Ooooh, speaking of periods, I might be getting them back! I noticed signs yesterday that I used to get when I was ovulating. So see what happens in 2 weeks time.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/08/2008 21:21

Hi foxy too x

Are you looking forward to dp being back? How long is he going away for after he has been home for a week? That's a bit crappy bollocks, you poor thing.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/08/2008 21:22

I got mine back last month, yuk! Fortunately having babies has made them lighter and much less painful. I still hate them though!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 21:22

Sorry to be so dense and all, but what does Mr Foxy do to take him away so much?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/08/2008 21:24

No, I'm not looking forward to it, if it is that Holly.

Izzybel · 22/08/2008 21:25

Hey!
Sorry I've been a bit quiet recently but I've been a bit of a misery guts so you wouldn't have wanted me anyway!

The dog has gone . I'm missing her like crazy. The house feels so shit and empty without her. I feel really empty without her it's the hardest thing I've ever done and it feels like someone close to me has died. Although on the other hand she is better off as I felt selfish keeping her when she wasn't getting the attention that she was used to. Now she will have more attention than she will know what to do with which will be great for her as she is a very needy dog!

So anyway... how is everyone? I haven't caught up (sorry) as it would take forever!

Izzybel · 22/08/2008 21:27

Grr at periods! I bled for 8 weeks after having DD, then stopped and then got my period the week after!

foxythesnowfox · 22/08/2008 21:28

wouldn't mind, but I've had mine back for ageeees and I'm still bf.

ummm, he's a secret agent. No hes not. He works in telly. Can't say too much as don't want to be outed. But he is not on the telly, so I am not Mrs Huw Edwards

He's back to China for another 3 weeks.
