norty, could DH go with you? when I eventually sought help when I was pregnant with DD, DH stood over me while I called the docs and then came with me. He was able to tell the doctor how it really was (I'm of the "oh, , not bad, everythings fine" school when asked directly how I am doing), and when I got myself into a bit of a state, he was able to interpret what I was trying to say. I really couldn't have done it without him being there.

Of course, he was at the receiving end of most of my panic attacks and anxiety, so he had a vested interest in getting me sorted

hadn't thought of that one....I'm not sure how he would feel - I know he would come if I asked him, but he doesn't really understand what mental health is all about and is a bit of a "pull yourself together" type....although he's learnt over the past 6 years how much it affects his life as well as mine as there are really mundance routine things that I just cannot do. When we talk about it, I do all the talking and currently he supports my need for medication but says that must be my decision....difficult to get feelings out of him sometimes....

Anyone needing a laugh this morning check out the cakewrecks.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/08/2008 11:00

lol sputnik, some of those are hysterical....although the ads for naked twister and the jiggly boobs at the bottom of the page were somewhat disconcerting!

norty...tell him you just need him there for some partnerly moral support

Hi all

I was looking at those cake wrecks at the weekend. Very funny.

Hi Ria - very good to see you back again. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Saw GP this morning, told to provide a stool sample. Have been given one of the little narrow tubes like I normally get for a urine sample and not quite sure what I am meant to do . Aim? Scoop some out of the toilet bowl? Collect in a bigger (disposable) container and decant? It's bad enough aiming wee into one of those little tubes, never mind poo!

LackaDAISYcal · 21/08/2008 12:21

jammy, the poo smple bottle is usually wider, with a little spatula built into the lid. I think he's given you the wrong bottle!

i would poo into something bigger and then decant some of it.

lol, what charming things we talk about.....from cakes to poo in one post

Got my free sample of Skin Bliss this morning....so off to hope my shower is deciding to be kind and actually heat the water today and have a shower

Bagpuss does rock! I had the video and as we got rid of our video player we gave all my children's videos to our parents to help them in their grandparenting duties later, so I look forward to watching it with the Jamlet one day.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/08/2008 12:27

I thought I'd been given the wrong thing. I think I'll make use of one of the many plastic tubs we have from soft fruit and the like. It won't hurt too much to divert one from the recycling box.

sillyRiaforgothernickname · 21/08/2008 13:23

Hi Jammy and sputnik. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bagpuss. And the toad, obviously.

I haven't moved in to my mums. DH has been applying to Hull Uni on-line and I've come round to turn it off. (He has finally given in and is applying for a lecturers course, and a creative writing diploma as advised by Connexions - WTF, the man only passed his level 1 adult literacy last month!!!)

I am a bit thick. Given DH fell out with Sky round about the same time I broke the modem, I thought he'd cancelled our internet and that was why he hadn't fixed it at home. Nope.So I have 84 emails to catch up on and probably a couple of pissed off mates!

Sputnik · 21/08/2008 14:01

Jammy your sample container would have to be 100% sterile.

Sputnik · 21/08/2008 14:05

Oh sorry, just understood what you meant to do. As you were on the poo front.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/08/2008 14:17

Oh dear, bear has got (or did have) worms! I just brought jamlet's baby walker in from the garden and it was full of water, so drying it off and I could tell that the toy bear that goes with it was waterlogged (plastic but with an air hole thing where water can get in). So I gave him a good squeeze to clear him out and out came an earthworm! Rather skinny looking, obviously been a starvation diet inside bear, but a worm none the less.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/08/2008 16:13

lobs some worm medication in bear's direction

DD has just been helping herself to.....

The Sudocrem

At least two of her handfuls and then what she didn't eat she smeared all over the arm of the sofa

It says seek medical attention, so I called NHS direct who said not to worry, unless she has a reaction to it; breathing difficulties, swelling lips etc, but she seems fine, if not even more mental than usual! she might have a bit of an upset tummy....but I'm looking forward to lavender fragranced farts

Morning, last day of our stay here in the Homeland. DD has taken a shine to a dolly that belongs to my mum's friend's grandchild, not sure how we are going to extract it from her. She keeps patting it's back and going "ahhhhhh". She has got a dolly actually, she got it this weekend as a belated birthday present from an aunty who knitted some clothes for it, but it is about half her size atm! She can't carry around as easy as this smaller one.

Just out of curiosity does anyone else start their holidays with a row with DH. DH and I always argue when we leave, because he wants to be all relaxed and take his time and I want us to pack up and go. I get stressed because he spends half an hour looking for a charger for the video camera while I rush around like a mad woman. We then spend the first half hour of the car journey not talking to each other and then when we do it's another row because he is the one to make the first move and was I "going to spend to whole journey not saying anything" (actually I was appreciating the peace and quiet!).

However he has been fab since we've been here. Been into London twice and he let me drag him into lots of lovely shops ("Oooh Origins!") and let me do all the things that I wanted to do. But we still always argue about leaving because we are so different.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/08/2008 09:03

lol bumper...perfectly normal. sounds like DH and I

glad you have had a good time though. Can you get her a smaller dolly?

DD has an unnatural attachment to a "baby" that she saw in a charity shop. It has a scabby head and no clothes, so the soft body is filthy, but she loves it (DS bought it for her when I wasn't looking). I must get knitting for it, but I've lost my preemie baby knitting pattern book! I have to keep an eye on her when running the bath, cos if I don't watch her like a hawk, baby gets thrown in the bath when it's filling

We are all bathed and dressed (with a bit of slap on in my case) and ready to leave the house already this morning . Off to Harrogate for the day, and just waiting on DH to make a couple of calls and answer his emails before we set off.

LOL at the arguing because you wanted to sulk for longer!
You should be grateful, I had a friend whose partner could sulk for days on end (they split eventually)
