Does it say a lot about me that it never occurred to me MRM would use it for xmas etc?

mustrunmore · 23/09/2008 10:46

Lol, mrm woulsd use it for lots of grown up fun at xmas, yes

Ok, so here's the next q then... what shall i get ds1 for xmas? For birthday he is having a Sec head (sale; 7.95!), a game from ds21, and some more lego cos we get 50% off (windows, extra 8ers, and skeleton battle pack). For xmas he needs 2 items that in his head equate to waht ds2 is getting from us (playmobil kitchen.. £2.50 in charity shop still sealed and elc dino track we got for a tenner )

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/09/2008 12:55

John Lewis - 'never knowingly undersold' - my arse! They weren't bothered about the fact that I can buy the tiles online for £39 per square metre - they still want to charge me £75. And this is despite telling me that the tile that makes up more than half of the design usually sells for £55, but because we want some of the pink one in as well, they up the entire quote to the £75 that that one costs! Was quite shocked by their attitude tbh.

Anyway, whilst in there ranting about the quote, the man who was laying their amtico demonstration area gave me his card and said that he'll fit it for me if I want to buy online . He also fits and supplies Karndean (great minds think alike Friz, as I ordered some samples from them the other day), which I'd just been to look at and get an idea of cost of from another shop over the road. Looks like I could have a nice wood effect Karndean floor for about £950, so half the price of the amtico. Might have to tone down the bright pink wall that we were planning though, as not sure that it will go so well with a wood effect floor . Another customer heard me ranting about the quote too, and got a card from the fitter, so I might have lost JL some more business too .

Just need to drag dh to the shop to have a look now, and wait for my other samples to arrive in the post (also considering it for hallway).

EachPeachPearMum · 23/09/2008 14:39

mrm- what is a sec head??????

Jas · 23/09/2008 17:38

Its a dalek thing

FIL is here irritating me, and we are beyond broke and out the other side

I did spend 1/2 my birthday money on new shoes and boots and the rest went on food and £shop birthday presents for dd2. Thankfully she is very easy to please

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/09/2008 17:45

Can you get fil to pay rent?!

EachPeachPearMum · 23/09/2008 19:23

Or keep sending him shopping for food that you've 'run out of, oh dear'?

Jas · 23/09/2008 21:21

I've already done the food one

I've managed to sort out presents from me and dp, dd1, ds and my mum for £20 total though

mustrunmore · 23/09/2008 21:25

And the presents are..?

Jas · 23/09/2008 21:32

Mobile phone from us (funded by cash back from Virgin, so costing us £3.95 delivery charge)
Phone sock from dd1 - £3.99
Photo album from ds -50p
Fleece jacket from my mum reduced to £6 in M&S

I also bought a bag of lollies for giving out at school, and happy birthday candles for the cake from the pound shop

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/09/2008 13:15
mustrunmore · 24/09/2008 13:27

Explain cashback from Virgin? Do you mean just a cashback on the contract? 100%? Or have i missed something exciting and diffrent?

I have often looked at phone socks in Claires

OMG, I had an hour and a half alone otday . At home, With no one likely to return home and shatter my peace. Luxury. Think I've only been alone at home maybe 5 times since we moved here, and then always knowing dh could bring the kids back at any minute.
Dropped ds1, then ds2, then had 9.30 till 11 alone. Looked at the mess and the stuff to do, and read a book instead

Jas · 24/09/2008 16:07

No contract. We are all on PAYG, and they give £10 for every £100 topped up. I've only just got my frist 10 as I never use my phone, but dp uses his alot, and I had £30 to spend on an upgrade

mustrunmore · 24/09/2008 18:14

Ah, I see!

EachPeachPearMum · 24/09/2008 19:44

1307!
I have sent about 50-60 in my WHOLE life!
Who do you send them to?

Phone sock.... Sec head..... These words have meaning but together they make no sense! I don't think I live in the same reality as everyone else!

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/09/2008 21:58

1307 . How do you find the time?!

I have 50 per month included in my contract, and most months seem to send between 40 and 50, despite a complete lack of monitoring on my part.

Phoenix · 24/09/2008 22:13

1307?? I get 1000 in my contract but i don't think i go near that many i certainly never go over . I wouldn't go back to PAYG now cos i get bored of phones so quickly and couldn't afford to buy myself a new phone. My contract is due for upgrading on Monday i can't wait to go pick a nice new phone

Was the carpet worth getting excited about csws?

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/09/2008 22:27

Oh yes Phoenix. This evening we have narrowed 5 samples down to 3, chosen paints (woodwork and wall) to go with each option, and considered which hall flooring would go best with each sample (carpet is for stairs and landing). Have the carpet shop man coming out on Monday to measure up and quote (and advise whether he thinks the stripes will be okay for the odd shape, but I think they will be), and then I just need to convince him to sell me the carpet for the £27 per metre that I can get it for online, as opposed to the RRP of about £48.

I haven't changed my phone since just before dd was born. I like the one I have, and haven't seen anything better since (except poss i-phone, but don't want that network).

Phoenix · 24/09/2008 22:41

I like the i-phone too but i'm on Vodafone. I'm leaning towards a Samsung Tocco at the mo which is similar to an i-phone but it depends on if i have to pay for it. I won't pay to upgrade a phone when if you're a brand new customer they'll give you phones for free.

mustrunmore · 25/09/2008 08:29

Does it help if I say I've cut down?biggest month was 1448! Dont forget tho that if you send a long one and it goes it 2 or 3 parts, that counts as more than one on the total. Send mostly to 2 friends, lesser to a third friend and Lex's old teacher, aerobics teacher, dh, other random friends. Its def worth being on contract, esp as its on a 50% back deal.So is £17.50 a month for unlimited texts and 500mins.

Lol at reducing choice from 5 to 3 csws! How long did tht take?

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/09/2008 09:03

Too long mrm!

Which network is that with? I pay just under £15 for 50 texts and 100 mins (which I almost never use), but have no intention of moving from vodafone.

mustrunmore · 25/09/2008 09:22

Orange.Shit customer service, but it was a good deal! I think t mobile do a marginally better one now though.

Ideas for ds1 for xmas... comments invited pls...
rock tumbler
scooby doo dressing up
night vision goggles (may hinder bedtime)
metal detector (may wreck garden)

But there needs to be one bigger box one smaller to equate to ds2

(hopefully funded withth amamzon vouchers!)

My Dad is going to get him the anatomical torso from Tescos

And Mum is gonna have to get ds2 a Hush Little Monkey; I've never seen him so captivated by anything bless him. He was convinced it was real He is monkey obsessed.

Phoenix · 25/09/2008 10:21

My Vodafone contract is 500 mins and 1000 texts for £35, Dh's is 150 mins and 500 texts for £25. There are loads better deals around but i want to keep my number and can't be bothered messing around, plus i'd have to wait another 2 month til my contract ran out before i could go to another network and get a new phone.

It's my day off today, no idea what we're doing. Dh is at work so it's just me and Lewis. I really need to sort out our spare room that is still full of crap we didn't sell at the car boot sale. I'll have to see if Lew will play in his room while i try sort through it

WeDoTheWeirdStuff · 25/09/2008 12:54

I send embarrassing amounts of texts too.

EachPeachPearMum · 25/09/2008 13:26

yes- but you do have about 5 different personalities at the moment !
