Evening all

Well Jks it's no secret i am with you on the lack of sleep.

Dd has never slept through far from it. i think a good night was 3 wakes we now pretty much up at 11/3/5 still for feeds !

We also blw here too so she eats pretty much anything!

Well ds dropped at grandmas for few days so a break from the arguing although dd1 been asking for him since

Hope you all ok

we had lunch at i'ls too today Simpson makes a break from cooking i guess. Are you excited r/e hol ?

Very of meet up !

Gingeme hope you catch up on your sleep it's so hard doing one night out never mind two!

Lucky as a dog owner i wouldn't do it again. It was ok when there was just me and dp and even when we had ds but 3 dc's later she just doesn't get the attention she needs. I think the fostering idea is much better.

Madm at Nathan jumping all over dd does this too but it get's wearing on the arms after a while , oh well that's where the jumperoo helps!

everyone else

hello all- Looking forward to the meet up too! I'm going to park at Brindley Place so will meet you outside - I'll send you my mobile number via facebook private message so ifwe get lost etc.

I haven't tried Ruby on any jars yet her favourite dishes that I cook are:

Cod, sweet potato and Paprika
Plaice, tomatoes and sweet potato
Cottage pie
Spag Bog
Chicken, tomatoes, basil and onions
Chicken stew with parsnips, swede, onion, potato, leek and green beans

Cold chicken and cottage cheese
Cold chicken and sharon fruit

Baked beans, potato and cheese
Cauli cheese with bacon
cheese and potato pie

avocada and banaa (looks gross but yummy!)

Chicken, spinach and leek

liver and sweet potato

she loves bananas, has them mashed in weetabix and also mashed in yoghurt.

I tend to make two big dishes a week and freeze portions in plastic cups covered in clingfilm so I can just chuck them away..

Will defnitely try some of the fruit purees you've suggested!

madmouse · 10/08/2008 21:06

Must be Amani then. Amani were are ye and are you coming too. Please

Susie no just prunes and apples. Nathan has had some today. I have only given him that and some parsnip/butternut squash as he has not pood today or yesterday., although that is not unusual for Nathan.

Susie, we need to find a safe way of swapping mobile numbers. You on facebook?

nicky6 · 10/08/2008 21:09

am shattered not because of charlie but because we went to a friends son 1st birthday spent about 4 hours in car driving so now had it.

charlie has only had one jar of savoury cottage pie which she woofed the whole lot, but i make her eat my food . SHe had salmon with vegetables and potato in cheese sauce followed by strawberry yoghurt. for lunch and then a bit of water and rusks mashed with milk and organix fruit puree for tea. Cant get her to eat weetabix unless i mix it with some sweeter baby cereal. so giving her baby muesli with fruit or baby porridge banana flavour.

oh my the thought of packing to take her away for a week to morocco

any way sure it will be fun

have good meet up me off for food.

me 6lb off pre pregnancy weight so if i can lose 9lb i will be cool, need to start doing some exercise other than once a week pilates as still cant fit into any pre pregnancy trousers or skirts.

simpson · 10/08/2008 21:17

Bluebell - you are making me hungry

When Ds was small his favourite was carrot, potato, lentil & coriander all blended together.

Lilyloo - am very excited about holiday am going to start packing tomorrow DS wants to "help"

JKS - definitely sending very strong sleep through vibes

Isabellasmam - how did DD get on with tea?

Madmouse - LOL at kangaroo jumping

simpson · 10/08/2008 21:21

X post Nicky

DD wouldn't eat weetabix unless there was some fruit puree in it too. Definite sweet tooth my DD has methinks

When i do start to give her something other than fruit puree for breakfast am going for baby porridge this time but going to leave her for a few days. Might even wait till we are away.

LuckySalem · 10/08/2008 21:25

DD's fave puree is sweet potato and carrot but she much prefers something she can hold and chew so they're getting few and far between now.

madmouse · 10/08/2008 21:38

Birmingham meetup lot: I have posted my mobile no on the facebook group wall.

LuckySalem · 10/08/2008 21:56

I've put mine there as well just in case.

I'll be wearing a red top (something borrowed something blue red. Lol) and I'm sure I can find something red for DD.

Gold Citroen.

justkeepswimming · 11/08/2008 06:54

simpson - are you sure you sent them to the right place??lol. ds2 up at 1 and 5
and i woke at 11 - no dh in bed, rolled over back to sleep
at 1am still no dh
went down after feeding ds2 to find him crashed out in front of tv (still on), woke him up and told him to go to bed (think he had a huge small whisky after i went to bed, fool!

so have come down with ds1 to let him get some more sleep - surely reinforcing the bad behaviour but felt sorry for him!

he's taking ds1 to hospital later for a check-up on his testicle-descending surgery he had last year. will be just at ds2's normal nap time and don't think ds2 needs to be exposed to hosp any more than necessary - don't like the places myself either!

then meeting a friend's new baby, then off for lunch/afternoon at another friends. they have a swimming pool! so really hope it's warm enough. tho the thought of me in a swimming costume in front of other people did keep me awake at times last night !
(my mil thoughtfully bought me a size 14 costume when i was pg with ds1....i was an 8/10 when i got pg ah well it fits now so maybe she knew best all along...)

simpson - have fun packing! esp with 'help'!

lily - sympathies on poor sleep
dh really wants a dog but i'm with you i think. had them growing up abroad and they weren't much work then but here with walking/poo scooping/etc i think they would be.
have said will reconsider when ds1 starts school as hopefully will be walking twice a day then anyway so dog can come too?? maybe.

betterhalf - re rolling in bed q - is it still a problem? you could roll up towels and put under cot sheet on either side of him?
or just try to settle him on his tummy so he doesn't mind sleeping like that? good luck

right, need caffeine, back later after cup of tea

gingeme · 11/08/2008 07:55

jks how did you do all that so early in the morning?
Good morning ladies trust you are all well?
Had a better night as far as sleep concerned. ds went to bed at 7.30 had a feed at 3 straight back to sleep to wake at 6.48. Feel alot more human today.
Not nearly as exciting day as jks. We are getting our flat screen tv delivered at some point. They rang Fri and said it would be delivered between 8am and 4pm. Real helpful I don't think
George is definately sitting on his own now. He crawls along, stops, then sits up with a big smile. So clever. I am going to try to get him weighed today. Havn't been for ages. Will be a nice suprise judging by how much he eats .
Right time to get some breakfast.
Have a good day all xxxx

lilyloo · 11/08/2008 09:30

Sounds like a nice day JKS hope the weather better than here!

Gingeme me too haven't had dd weighed since before we went away at end of May i will try and go this week i think. Do the hv ever chase you up if you don't go i wonder I know she is putting weight on though and she is sitting up , rolling back to front and getting up on all fours rocking so not worried!

Not much planned here need to do a shop and dd1 got her swimming lesson this aft!

We all had a lie in until 7.45 this am , dp late for work without ds usual wake up call at 6.45

Hi everyone, your meet-up sounds fun, gutted i'm stuck up here in the north.

Off topic but gingeme's delivery reminded me that i've been waiting over a week for a parcel from ebay which I paid £10 1st class P&P and I can't get in touch with the sellar. How long should is normal to wait before contacting ebay about it?

lilyloo · 11/08/2008 09:53

Isabellas where bouts 'up norf' are you ?
Me and Kelix up here too maybe we could have 'norf' meet up ?

I would contact ebay now i think a week is long enough to wait especially if seller isn't answering your mails. I would mail them first and tell them what i was going to do see if that makes them return mail.

Hi all

My DH is getting all packed to go away. He is leaving in about 30 mins and I have DCs for 4 days by myself

JKS - sorry vibes didn't work maybe tonight?? I regularly find my DH crashed out on sofa in the early hours. He gets home from work 11pmish has a glass of wine and is so knackered he falls asleep.

Gingeme - am very of your flat screen tv but pain in bum to have to stay in all day. I bet you they arrive 5 mins before the cut off point.

Isabellasmam - I have not bought anything off ebay for ages but it always used to arrive within 3/4 days. If you can't get hold of seller definitely contact e bay.

Lilyloo - I haven't got much planned here either today. Also need to do a shop.

Isabellasmam · 11/08/2008 10:10

Lilyoo - thanks for the advice on ebay, I'm in Northumberland. Where are you and Kelix?

Simpson - thanks for the advice.

lilyloo · 11/08/2008 10:21

We are in Lancs !

OP posts:
Isabellasmam · 11/08/2008 10:23

Not good at geography but thata quite far away isnt it? Is that where Liverpool is?

lilyloo · 11/08/2008 10:26

No we are situated between Manchester, Leeds , Liverpool, Preston , Blackpool all about 30/60 min from us via car!

OP posts:
Isabellasmam · 11/08/2008 10:31

Still quite a hike for me, I'm about 60-90 mins north of Leeds.

betterhalf · 11/08/2008 11:16

JKS rolling in bed still a problem. Night before last was ok, but last night was a nightmare. I am shattered today and so is he the poor thing. Will try the suggestion thanks. Have ordered something off kiddicare that they reckon should alieviate the problem. We shall see.... .

DH and foster lads still in Europe so am now on my 9th full day of it just being LO and me. Have enjoyed the peace although some help at night time would have been nice. Think they're coming back Thurs or Fri, so I will be praying for the peace back.

simpson · 11/08/2008 11:46

I have to confess DD is very good at night (sorry!!) and does sleep 12 hours but she is hell in the day for her sleeping. She is back to normal now in terms of poos etc but has been whining ALL day to be picked up etc because we have done it for the last few days knowing she is in pain. Have not had a chance to do anything!! Grrr... Just wish I could have 10 mins peace.

Housemum · 11/08/2008 12:31

Day sleeps are a pain here, though not in same way - she will go to sleep, but usually when feeding. If she has already had milk, it takes a good half hour of whinging and rolling around in the cot. (Though an excuse to go on MN as office is next to her room! only problem is concentrating when can hear her)

Nights are improving - was waking once or twice until a couple of weeks ago, then once at 4.30 - in last week we've had 3 nights from 8.30 pm to 7 am. Am keeping fingers crossed...

Isabellasmam · 11/08/2008 12:48

dont know if this helps anyone but i read it on another thread. in order to get LO's to sleep during the day you need to start settling them as soon as they show signs of tiring, don't wait until they're wingy. if they are overtired they will fight sleep.

have tried this by cuddling dd as soon as she shows signs of being tired(in her case she rubs her head) and talking to her gently or reading a book and she just drops off. hth

fillybuster · 11/08/2008 13:02

Hi all,

JKS - sounds like you might need a night away from both boys - I guess you'll have to wait until you stop feeding in the night unless you were willing to leave an expressed bottle? On the whole we haven't had much more than 9 hours sleep straight since T was born, but that's mainly because dh and I are so bad at going to bed on time...both our kids go down at 7.30 and get up around 8 but we rarely turn out our lights before 12ish. Having said that, we got up around 8.30 both days this weekend and realised that both dcs had been happily lying in bed wide awake and totally silent for an unknown amount of time....I think thats a good result but we were quite bemused by it!! Ds did tell me that he hadn't been awake for very long, but we've discovered that Tamara stays silent for absolutely ages when she wakes up, just cuddling her elephant and tiger and only starts making noises when she gets really really hungry...

Gingeme - any more thoughts on the London meetup? How was clown town yesterday?

Tamara is having weird food things....I think she basically wants to copy whatever everyone else is doing, so she'll only eat her breakfast cereal if I feed her at the same time as dh and ds are eating theirs. If, for example, they are onto their toast already then she refuses to open her mouth for her cereal and whinges until she has her toast in her hand....

Bluebell - those recipes look brilliant. I am now inspired to start cooking more for Tamara, especially as I think its time to start her on protein...

By the way, I find weetabix a great way to get loads of milk into the los....just keep adding milk and then wait until it soaks it all up. Amazing how much milk a single weetabix will hold!

OK, got to run to Brent Cross to do some returns before resuming childcare at 2pm....catch up later xx
