Forgot to say Lucky enjoy your time away am sure you and DD will love it being around horses etc.

I think coz you are aware of your auntie's feelings that will help coz you are being sensitive to her iykwim.

I have got DS quite a few cars from £shop!!

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 21:41

LuckySalem · 07/08/2008 21:48

I want to get some stacking cups but I can't find any cheap enough. I found one in a toy shop but it was £5 for 3 cups?!?!?!

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 21:54

Lucky here

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/08/2008 21:57

Oh Lilly - thanks. I keep forgetting to look on ebay even though I bought LOADS of stuff for DD on there D'uh! lol

Housemum · 07/08/2008 21:58

Asda sometimes has good toys - bought some of the stacking rings for 98p! And don't forget Woollies - I never used to think about it as it's not in the main shopping bit here, until DD2 modelled for some packaging and I went in and saw just how much they had!

simpson · 07/08/2008 22:04

Lucky - i have got a few things from wilkinsons too.

I am a real hoarder and if I see something that is a real bargain for either DC but not suitable yet ie not old enough i buy for future Xmases!! Have got DS stuff already for this xmas

LuckySalem · 07/08/2008 22:05

DP bought stuff for xmas for DD before she was born!! LMAO. They were having a sale.

Housemum · 07/08/2008 22:07

I bought a cow wheelybug with that Blooming Marvellous discount. And have a battery powered quad bike for her that I picked up for a tenner on eBay (thanks to that local bargain thingy - I wasn't even looking for it!) So a future Xmas and birthday sorted....

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 22:09

Lo, at a quad bike already housemum ds would love one !

OP posts:
simpson · 07/08/2008 22:10

At least its not just me

Also if I see something cheap I buy it and have a cardbox box in attic for cheapish toys for if invited to birthday parties for kids I don't really know then out comes crap pressie Saves lazy me legging it round shop in a panic!!

simpson · 07/08/2008 22:21

Housemum - sorry to be a PITA but could you post link to blooming marv. discount again?? Might have to check it out!!

fillybuster · 07/08/2008 23:09

Hi all - sorry, its taken me 3 days to catch up on the past 2 weeks stuff and now of course i've gone completely blank on most of the personals...

MrsMc - it sounds like you're having a brilliant time with Xavier in spain...am so pleased

JKS - how was ds1 after the trip? Did his GPs manage to look after him ok?

Lucky - sorry about the dog, but dont give up...it will happen

Lilyloo - so glad the christening went well...I know the 'clearing up on a hangover' feeling

Bluebell - sorry you're having such a hard time...I can only repeat what everyone else has said: make some space between you and MIL, but not between you and DH, and don't let yourself get into the negative 'head spiral'. It will get better, just give it time

Madmouse - delighted to hear Nathan is doing so well...fingers crossed he'll continue to exceed all expectations! Swimming sounds like it was hysterical

Gingeme - hope you're not missing your big boys too much? It must be hard for you after they've gone, even if its nice to have some space again? I'm up for a meetup soon - it would be lovely to see how all the southern babes are getting on and to see George again

Barristermum - sorry I haven't been in touch, things have been a little hectic in our household the last few weeks. Will give you a call soon

Nicky - glad being back at work was good - amazing how well the dhs manage when left to get on with it, isn't it?

Simpson - ds is getting a scooter for his 3rd birthday (aug 17th)...I susoect we will have similar issues !!

Kelix - what a brilliant catch up....competition for MrsMc!

Tamara is still brilliant, just a happy chilled little girl who seems much more together than her mother or big brother but copes just fine with us. She isn't rolling over or sitting on her own (she keep on slumping forward as she tries to eat her toes) but is spending loads of time on her front. Since ds refused to go on his tummy and didn't move until 12 months, but sat beautifully from 4 months, I'm quite interested how this will turn out. She isn't crawling and seems to be convinced she'll be able to move by lifting her arms and legs in the air at the same time and them 'swimming' frantically !! She's only just 6 months (29th jan) so I haven't started on protein yet, but she's eating a decent amount of fruit and veg 3 times a day, and having 4 7oz bottles (8am when she wakes up, 12.30 after lunch, 4pm and 7.30pm before bed).

Someone was asking about sterlising - I stopped around 7 mths with ds but various doctor friends who all have young babies have recommended continuing until about 12 months minimum for bottles even if everything else is going in their mouths all the time. The issue is that formula/breast milk is a massive bacterial feeding ground and its hard to get teats and bottles clean esp if the empty bottle has sat around for a few hours before being washed up. Anyway, I've decided to keep on sterilising T's bottles once a day since it isn't that much of a faff, but am not bothering with cups, spoons etc.

Right, far too late, sorry for everyone I've missed off (wecome isabellasmum, hi rockdoctor, betterhalf and latrucha....and everyone else!) and for another mammoth post...hope you all have a good night xxx

Isabellasmam · 08/08/2008 11:23

Morning all, been to asda and they have loads of art amd crafty things in for very reasonable prices and loads of kids books for a pound! Don't know if thats any use to you.

Food still bloody expensive though!!!

simpson · 08/08/2008 12:45

Got trip planned this afternoon to mothercare to buy DD's bumbo but DS has not had a poo for 2 days so it could go horribly wrong

DD up twice in night wanting milk this was what I had feared might happen. Grrrr. She won't have it in day though. Am hoping it will pass as she is still VERY constipated so when she is "unbunged" she might be a bit better. But she has been going through the night for ages so big shock to the system. I know i am lucky though so won't complain too much

Gingeme - Cheers for tip AGES ago about ella's kitchen pouch with prunes re poo. Guess what she is having for lunch?

LaTrucha · 08/08/2008 12:53

Hi all - thanks for the tips about the toys

Filly - LOl at the toe touching tumbles - Sabela is exactly the same. And nice to know about the differences in development in your DCs. First time mum paranoia here!

Thanks for all the tips on toys.

MM I know what you mean that the parents are the favoured toy! You have insopired me to start singing to her more. And that penguin looks mad. I might just have to have one!

Lily - the comment on the size was more a comment on the minuteness of my house than anything else!

Enjoy the sun! - and the not too much heat - at least if you're in West Wales

Where's gingeme? is she off somewhere?

Housemum · 08/08/2008 14:57

Filly - I'm with you on the sterilising - it's bottles only. On hols soon which is pain as we use microwave-steriliser - have bought some sterilising tablets from M'care for £2 and will take an ice-cream container as you need 2 litres of water to dissolve them. (Cheaper than buying travel sterilising bags for £8!!)

simpson · 08/08/2008 17:24

DD has not stopped screaming & straining for over 2 days it is starting to get me down now TBH

The poor little thing is in a lot of pain but will not take enough liquids to releave (sp) herself.

Any tips gratefully received!!!

LaTrucha · 08/08/2008 17:48

Is it constipation? When Sabela had this we found laying her on her back and cycling her legs round helped. Tummy massage too. What about giving her water or apple juice with a syringe? It's a bit forceful but if she needs water....?

simpson · 08/08/2008 18:03

Definately constipation. This is all coz she won't take enough liquid. Syringe might work....

madmouse · 08/08/2008 18:36

2 eating apples and 5 prunes. simmer in a bit of water for 10 mins and puree. feed to baby. tasts lovely, works well.

was getting concerned about the fluid intake of some of your little ones eating so much and drinking so little.

Nathan is actually pooing more than ever now.
