Advice please.

Toby is driving me nuts at the moment at nighttime. He keeps moving onto his tummy if he's laid on his back, then after about 5 minutes will start whinging as he hasn't worked out ( apart from about 2 times of doing it) how to roll back onto his back. As a result I am up and down like a yo-yo turning him onto his back, only for him to start the cycle all over again.

Any help gratefully received.

Kelix · 07/08/2008 16:48

Ah the rest of em dont know what they missing up here in the sticks lol

Yeah sounds good to me!

Would be good to get together when all our babies are a full year old.

bluebell82 · 07/08/2008 16:51

Hi betterhalf- Ruby was doing this a couple of weeks ago. The problem is she liked to be asleep on her side but she was over rolling which meant she was stuack on her front. They soon learn how to roll back but in the meantime I spent about a week rolling her back onto her side and just keeping my arm in the way to stop her rolling and she would fall asleep.

It drove me nuts too, but honestly he'll start rolling all over the place, Ruby combat rolls thats quite funny.

Hope this helps x

Kelix · 07/08/2008 17:24

Betterhalf - Had the same here a few weeks ago, drove me mad for a while. Kept having to roll her back over and as soon as I had done it she would roll again! They do learn to roll back eventually but bluebells advice is good or maybe put a rolled up towel or something at each side of him until he drops off then remove them? DD did get over this phase pretty quickly - about a week or so, but felt much longer!

betterhalf · 07/08/2008 17:54

Thanks Kelix and Bluebell. Truly hope it soon stops and I can SLEEP! I'm shattered.
DH being away in Europe doesn't help either as it has to be me getting up every single time. Ah well, this too shall pass.

LaTrucha · 07/08/2008 18:36

Symapthy betterhalf. DH has just been away while dd in the grip of HORRIBLE teething. Waking every 30 mins. It WILL pass.

Housemum · 07/08/2008 18:42

Bluebell - not heard of Babyshake/shack? We're with Bruce & Brown - some reputable agencies do charge a fee, but a lot don't nowadays, particularly as a lot deal by website rather than model books. This is a good website for info - this should link to a page with a downloadable list of agencies Alba model info The "big 4" at the moment tend to be Bruce & Brown, Kids London, Urban Angels and MOT. Older established names include Elisabeth Smith & Norrie Carr. Loads of others. The 4 I mentioned don't have huge fees - I think we paid £40 or so to B&B, plus we get photos done once a year costing about £120 but you get a CD of the images for that.

Hope that helps!

simpson · 07/08/2008 19:27

Hi all

Typical isn't it!! When you actually have money and want to buy something (clothes) there is never anything you like. Of course when I am totally broke and not getting paid anymore there will be loads.

This is the last evening i have with DH here to help until we are in Holland to he is busy washing hair and cutting toe/finger nails etc. Bless

LaTrucha - My DD doesn't really play with much just watches DS and laughs. She does like her learn & groove activity station though.

Betterhalf - I hope DD doesn't decide to start teething now as I am going to be on my own too!!

All this talking of camping!! I used to love camping as a kid but the thought fills me with dread now as I like my home comforts too much But am definitely going to have to grin and bare it as DCs love it and I know DS would love to go.

More later...Am starving have to get Ds in bed and eat ASAP!!

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 19:33

What do we think of this and anywhere i can buy direct to cut on p+p ?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 07/08/2008 19:35

That's a major piece of equipment! If I got it for dd, I think I'd have to move into the shed.

simpson · 07/08/2008 19:37

lilyloo - its just like what DD has She loooooves it!!! Can't help you on P & P though sorry but I think they retain their value well and can be sold on when finished with it.

simpson · 07/08/2008 19:41

LaTrucha is right it is big!! I wanted to take it Holland with us so DD could sit in it while we have BBQ on grass outside but will take up too much space in car hence buying bumbo

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 19:43

Simpson i not too bothered about it being big.
How long do you think they could use it for ?
Is that a good price then for them ?

betterhalf · 07/08/2008 20:12

Any of you been reading 'The Motherhood Delusion' thread under 'parenting'. So funny.

Housemum · 07/08/2008 20:19

Amelie has one of those and loves it - we bought a 2nd hand one off eBay from a local seller. Try this site - Local Bargain Finder - put in a distance from home & yr postcode - it'll bring up everything under a certain amount - you can then narrow to eg baby. That's how I found ours. Look on "completed listings" to see how much they have been selling for. The leapfrog ones are most expensive - ours is M'care. A bit like this one.

simpson · 07/08/2008 20:23

our one was on special offer at early learning for £50 but has now gone up to £90 again I think.

DD is still on the smallest setting as her legs are so short If yours is the same you can make the leg bits taller as DCs grow iyswim.

DS had one too and he used it till he was about 18mths but not in it he used to cruise round the outside and play. His one broke and we got a full refund despite him having out grown it so we bought garden toys for him Saw it on special offer at ELC when I was 25wks pg with DD and bought one for her knowing how fab they are.

Seems a good price if you look in argos, elc, mothercare they all do something like that and they are nearer £80 I think...

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 20:24

wow thanks Housemum and that is literally 15 min away from us

Nathan's favourite game is mummy and daddy. He loves humpty dumpty (throws himself backwards by planting feet in your stomach at just the right time ), flying above daddy, this old man, row row the boat, you lying down then him sitting on your chest chatting away, him crawling over you, clap your hands everyone together - stand up- sit down. Reverse peekaboo, where nathan does the peekabooing (for real - it is hilarious, he dives behind my shoulder to beam at however is next to me, then dives back and repeats endlessly). Shredding magazines and crumpling newspapers. Also this is still a hit.

Lilyloo, it is a lot smaller, but this is a real hit. The sounds the thing makes are insane though, Nathan quickly learned to kick it then kicked everything else to see what sound it made (including me )

Re camping, you may actually find they sleep better (as long as they are warm) as the fresh air knocks them out.

simpson · 07/08/2008 21:11

Betterhalf just read it Very funny!! LOL

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 21:13

Right i'm here.... Lol. Been so busy today and its not over yet. I've still gotta pack as mum and dad have invited us all to go to Newmarket to see my uncles (they work with racehorses) Dp is working so it's just me and DD again. I'm abit wary of going in all honesty cos one of my uncles wives' (obv auntie but by marriage IYKWIM) has just had to have her pg terminated cos of problems with the "foetus" so I'm worried that by taking DD it'll upset her but I'm being told that all will be fine so we'll see.

RE: Development DD does quite a few of the things on the list although nothing about crawling - no matter how much she tries she can't understand it. She gets onto all fours and then kinda jumps forward but doesn't move. If that makes any sense at all. lol She can roll back to front but only the other way if I hold her leg down so she's got some leverage.
She is making no attempts other than "ha" to talk. I've been reading the book and it says you have to speak very slowly and repeat things alot. Also worth repeating the noises they make for a min or two and then switching it so you say something and wait for them to repeat you. I tried this today and DID NOT work.

We've got a walker from ebay but DD can't reach the floor with it. It would do her brilliantly at the moment as she loves to walk but can't hold her weight. we have to do it for her and she's so frustrated if we don't go at just the right pace.

lilyloo · 07/08/2008 21:32

LaTrucha was it you who asked about toys ?

If so link here to reccomendations.

Some good toys there ladies!

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/08/2008 21:34

Oh toys - I've just bought a few good ones from poundland of all places! lol DD LOVES them as she can whack them and they don't break.
