OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well it appears I have some kind of selective reading disorder when it comes to school letters. I honestly could have sworn the letter said the visit was for parents too, so DS2 was not prepared for being abandoned and was quite upset. The letter doesn't actually say either way though

The Dr Who audio stories read by DT are fab because his voice is SO relaxing. He is a bit thin for me. I was tempted by the Captain Jack poster from this weeks magazine but as my friend has decided her DS, who DS1 plays with, is gay (and I mean she really seems to be pushing him into it, not in a jokey way. He is 8/9), I thought maybe not

justRia · 10/07/2008 13:45

I did clean his room in the end, it wasn't too bad, just need to hoover. In his school bag I found a reading book that he has had since MAY and he has written in his reading diary it was rubbish, and then tried (badly) to forge DH & my signatures, and he's had to cross them out becuase they were rubbish so it looks a right mess. I should be but I am a bit

Best get on, the teacher made a point of telling me to collect DS2 in ONE HOUR!!!

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 14:05

lol andie...I was just thinking I've never heard of whispers formula....obviously only available down south!

The kitchen is half done and the hall is tidy and hoovered. One dishwasher load in, another load to go (it's only a narrow one before you all go ), and the floor is swept.

Why does my house have sooooo much effing clutter? Where does it all come from?

DH will be home early tonight and the last thre weeks has come home to a bombsite so I'm determined to have it looking at least hlaf tidy before he arrives.

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 14:06

and Ria...ikwym...it's hard not to be pleased when they come up with some creative subterfuge......although mustn't let them see that under any circustances

justRia · 10/07/2008 16:18

well, they both had a good time at their respective tasters, and are now both in their rooms in disgrace for fighting over a silly plastic toy

and I am really drained from the stress I've created for myself. I feel really again.

andiem · 10/07/2008 16:20

Had a little party for her today - gonna open some more pressies in a minute with her Daddy

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 18:32

I knew there was somone else in july jbm....sorry

Happy Birthday to DD2

I've found all my salary stuff and not only will I be entitled to SMP...i'll get about £270 a week for the first six weeks . I thought I would be on the basic amount throughout. thanks heavens for company sick pay

andiem · 10/07/2008 19:04

happy birthday to little jbm enjoy the pressie opening

good news on the money front daisy

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 19:16

every little helps andie

Am watching the One Show about the wee boy in Biscester who dialled an ambulance for his mum when she went into a diabetic coma. It made me cry, silly emotional sap that I am.

AIBU to wish that I'd never had bloody kids. I'm sick spending my days saying the same things over and over again, repeating the same act of tidying up over and over again, cooking the same bloody meals over and over again and picking up the effing sodding wipes that DD has pulled out of the packet over and over and over and over agian.

They are in bed already tonight; I'd had enough

and DH was supposed to be home tonight but they have a major packaging disaster and he is trying to sort it out.....bits of plastic in the food apparently for anyone who gets their "not just food" in a certain store . If they have to do a product recall, his company will be fined £40K

andiem · 10/07/2008 19:18

daisy I know what you mean my one regret about being a sahm is that there is no respite from the chores
hence ds2 is starting nursery in sept to keep me sane and dh happy as I will not be screaming vixen when he gets home after a trip

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 10/07/2008 19:38

IKWYM daisy. I'm very bored at the moment. Going through the motions every day- get up, get dressed, try to stop dcs from trashing the house, watch some tv, eat lots, go on MN to actually speak to some people, wash up, hoover, do laundry, eat dinner, go to bed...repeat!

I think I will find it a bit easier when dd is at preschool for 5 sessions in sept. She is absolutely doing my head in lately! She is very lovely and wonderful, but she never shuts up! That sounds awful, but when you've been asked the same question for about the 50th time in a row and given the same answer every time you start to get a bit annoyed. This goes on throughout the day and it is like nails on a blackboard! I think we need the time away from each other!

Happy birthday to annobal's ds and jbm's dd. Hope you've all had a lovely day.

I cried at Hollyoaks just now ! It was Max's funeral though and it was very !

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 20:02

I think once the baby is born I'm going to start a course on a Saturday morning, or try and organise some book stuff to do...just to get out of the house for a bit, on my own, with no children.

just had DS up...again....and then DD started screaming. I think she must have been having a dream or something as everytime she looked at DS she started screaming anew. It took me about 20 minutes to settle her down again

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 20:05

DS didn't stop talking from me picking him up from school through going to the shops and then home again......it was literally constant how he managed to take a breath I just don't know. I eventually yelled at hime to be quiet

this too shall pass; this too shall pass; this too shall pass....repeat ad nauseum.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 10/07/2008 20:23

Good idea daisy. I think I might start to do something ON MY OWN! Dp plays golf all the farking time (like right now for instance), so why shouldn't I do something I enjoy? I can't think of anything I could do right now, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Shopping?

I feel really bad about my dd annoying me so much, it's lovely that she wants to talk to me all the time, but all I get is "Mummy, what's his name?...Mummy, why?...Mummy, who's that (to random strangers in the street)?...Mummy, what does that do? AAARRGGGHHHH!!! I feel like wearing earplugs sometimes!

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 20:29

after a whil it just washes over me and I do the absent minded...."hmm....yes.....no....really.....that's great sweetie", although he is getting old enough to suss that out now. Damn the school for reinforcing the "listen with your eyes and ears" message

My limbs are all aching. I feel like I have climbed a mountain than dangled from a tree for three hours.

andiem · 10/07/2008 20:43

holly and daisyI know exactly what you mean ds is better now but he still has moments where I say can we just have silence for 5 mins

anyway he has just got back from cubs and has had a fab time

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 20:50

Glad cubs was a success andie.

DS wants to go to Karate/Kung Fu lessons . DH thinks it will teach him discipline, i think he will be "haya"ing all over the place and will put someones teeth out at school as he shows off his "moves"

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 20:51

Oh, and i sometimes do it (the constant chat) back to DS to give him a taste of his own medicine...it gets him very confused

andiem · 10/07/2008 21:25

I am with you at the karate too daisy

I have a problem at the moment that ds1 continually shouts no at ds2 when they are in a room together I have taken to shouting no at him all the time to see if he likes it not sure that it is the best parenting strategy

btw daisy you were very tactful on the KA thread

justRia · 10/07/2008 21:34

HI again. I went to my mums and DS1 didn't get back from the play til 8.15 (they started at 6.30) - 5 mins after DF had gone to look for him.

I'm with you all on the no respite from the mundanity/circular-breathing-talking etc. Of course we all love it and them, but by Goawd do we deserve a break!!! And our (mine anyway) DHs think being a SAHD would be a doddle (because they would do no effing housework, or start it and leave it for us to finish after work like a certain SAHBIL I know).

I would agree with your DH on a martial art for discipling daisy (sorry) but on my DHs recommendation I would go for judo or aikido(sp?) which are a bit less hi-ya and kicking and more disciplined and controlled.

I am watching the new Hotel Inspector. DH burst into the bathroom to tell me he had met her in the days when he was a successful young chef in a big posh hotel in York. How peoples lives take different paths hey?

justRia · 10/07/2008 21:35

Sorry, HAPPY BIRTHDAY baby JBM.

when is the foxcubs b'day?

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 21:36

it's all in the training andie ...after my first foray into trying to be helpful on a feeding thread got me a whole new thread started about how I'd made someone cry
