I got yellow with multicolour stars on, crazy stripes and turquoise cow (ignore the previous message where i said i only got 2!!!)... also want a blue sheep one!

We are also using flat terry squares which are working out pretty well, he is only just growing into his nappy nation, which is why I have been banned from buying too many more nappies!!!
I was just going to get some funky wraps for them ready for summer, but can't find any that are so cool as the minkis!

burstingbug · 15/04/2005 12:09

Hi,
We named him George
He was weighed yesterday and is a hefty 11lbs 15oz
Gotta dash, he's yelling again - grrrr!

roosmum · 16/04/2005 18:15

starlover - big at the turquoise nappy...my favourite minki! you'll have to let me know how they perform - & then maybe i can persuade dh to let me get one too (showed him the\ patterns on kittykins, he was quite impressed ). bear behinds are also lovely pocket nappies, but quite expensive i think.

hi BB & little george - my LO was also 8lb3oz at birth, 11 days late (dh predicted birthweight exactly...spooky!) & i too should have been a jan mum - he's now 10 wks & a hefty 14lb14oz, & in his 3-6 month clothes...not fat though, just heavy & long
xxx

starlover · 16/04/2005 20:21

roosmum... i CAN'T wait til my minkis get here!
I should also have been a Jan mum! Linus was born on the 7th, so close to your DS.
He was weighed on Wednesday and is 12lb 1oz having only put on 4oz in the previous 2 weeks. Odd as he has been putting on around 7oz a week up til now!
And he was 9lb 1oz at birth!

futurity · 19/04/2005 16:49

How is everyone getting on with sleep in the day..please tell me I am not the only one suffering with a baby who won't sleep longer than 45 minutes in one go and waking up grumpy! My first did this as well so I should of been expecting it but it is doing my head in!! It only got better first time round when he was weaned at 4 months but of course they now recommend 6 months for weaning so I have a long wait if that is the only thing that is going to help!!

Nik72 · 19/04/2005 17:07

Sorry, mine can sleep for ages during the day. unfortunately she seems reluctant to do the same at night....humph, need to get her body clock sorted out.

gossifer · 20/04/2005 09:45

Hello there, I've just found out about mumsnet! My little man was born on 17th Feb, 8days late, he's called Leon he weighed 9lb 4oz at birth, which was natural and only 11 hours. He was a healthy 12lb 5oz last week and we're off for our jabs this afternoon (ouch).

starlover · 20/04/2005 12:38

sleep during the day... Linus does very well. He has little cat naps in the morning (20/30mins) and then a long sleep after lunch. Then naps in the evenings.
He will then sleep 8.30 til 4.. which is fab

Welcome gossifer! Your ds is close in age and weight to mine! He was 9lb 1 at birth and is now just over 12lb.

Has everyone had their first lot of jabs? Linus couldn't have his as we had another appt that day, and the surgery told me I would get another appt sent through... havne't had one yet, and he is due for his second lot!!!
The receptionist said that they don't do it, I have to wait for the health authority to send him an appt

futurity · 20/04/2005 12:49

When you say a long sleep after lunch does that mean you feed him just before the nap?

DS has had his first jab a few weeks ago..he screamed lots and was out of sorts for the rest of the day but that was it. Next one due in 2 weeks.

starlover · 20/04/2005 13:05

yeah, he is in a routine of sorts! his lunchtime feed is usually between 1.30 and 2.30, and he will then have a nice long sleep.

TBH I try and keep him awake during the morning, and in the evening as I know then he will have his lunchtime nap and sleep well at night

gossifer · 20/04/2005 15:18

Starlover, you are lucky with that long nighttime sleep! Leon was sleeping from 10pm until 4am but he's gone back to waking every 3hours at night, maybe i'll have to try keeping him up.
We've just been to the doctors and he's 12lb15oz now. Leon had his first jab last week, he yelled for 1/2 hour and then was very clingy for the rest of the day. At my surgery we don't wait for appointments to be sent, there is a baby clinic once a week that is a drop in, you could ask if there is on in your area?

Hazellnut · 20/04/2005 16:35

Hi All

Had second lot of jabs today. Didn't think it would be as traumatic as first lot but it was !! DD cried... but seems happy now (to be honest, after she'd stopped crying, she even gave the nurse a big beaming smile !!) and so far not as clingy as she was after the first lot. Think it might just be me that finds it so bad !!

DD is now 10lbs !! A great achievement from her 4lbs 10 oz !!

Sleep wise, I think (touch wood) we are doing pretty well. DD sleeps 10.30 to 7 or 8 am now and does sleep in the evenings but not in her cot ?! DAytime sleeps are a bit erratic and she doesn't really like napping in her cot in the day but can cope with that as we get good nights !!

Mind you, she is a few weeks older than most on this thread !

Starting to wonder if there is anyone inside my baby IYSWIM! Today he has been awake from 7:30-9am. And for about 1/2 hour mid-morning (while feeding). And for an hour at lunchtime (the hour that dd was asleep, haha). And for 1/2 hour just now, to feed again. He'll probably have another hour awake in the early evening, and wake for a feed at 3am. Actually I guess that makes 5 hours awake and 19 asleep. Is that normal? I was lucky if dd slept for 12 hours in 24. I suppose he will wake up more soon and I can get to know him (and I'll be on here complaining).

But he weighs 7lbs 5 now .

starlover · 20/04/2005 16:55

gossifer... I heard somewhere that babies of this age have a growth spurt (around 9/10 weeks)... maybe that's what Leon is up to! hence the waking a lot in the night.

hazellnut... WOW! she's doing fabulously.. whatever you're putting in her is working wonders!

fruitful... I forget how old your ds is? Linus has always been quite "alert" and over the past few weeks his awake periods have changed and lengthened quite a lot.
I don't know what kind of sleep/awake hours are normal... but I am sure he's doing fine! I'd sleep that much if I could get away with it

Hazellnut · 20/04/2005 16:57

Was also having a worry yesterday that DD was sleeping too much (but didn't want to say in case I was lynched by those with sleep deprivation !!). According to the baby whisperer (the only place I have so far found a guide to sleep it says from 1 month 15-18 hours a day so 19 hours isn't so far out !! DD was also a very little baby so maybe its something to do with that ?!

starlover · 20/04/2005 17:04

yeah.. I just read further down, and your DS was early too wasn't he fruitful? I think you said he was due 24th March? so he should only be 4 weeks old!! awwwww
Maybe that's what it is.

fruitful · 21/04/2005 11:47

Yes, 4 weeks... can't believe that really! I think I'll just enjoy the sleepiness.

jolly4 · 21/04/2005 19:02

starlover · 22/04/2005 09:32

hi all

we are also still b/f, although mixing with a bit of expressing/formula to give my boobs a chance to heal.
The right one is still cracked despite trying everything.. lansinoh, going topless, breast milk, jelonet and mothers mates.

Still, Linus is thriving, and giving him a bottle now and then isn't too much of a problem. I think we're both a bit happier than when I was constantly in pain!

Spent last night in hospital so that he could have a polysomnogram done. They wanted to check his breathing and oxygen levels because of his floppy windpipe. Signs so far are good, just have to wait for a letter from the consultant!

jayhazromie · 22/04/2005 11:08

HOPE IT GOES WELL WHEN YOU SEE CONSULTANT
