Am doing the same - expressing from the cracked side to let it heal & giving it in a bottle. Feel much better about feeding now as I know it won't be sore which makes me feel better full stop.
Went out for lunch with DH today which was lovely & she was so good - feel as if there is some normality coming back though the nights are still pretty rough.
Has the thrush treatment made a difference do you think, Starlover?

starlover · 04/04/2005 17:11

definitely Nik! No longer getting the really sharp stabbing pains when I feed, or between feeds. Am still feeling some pain but it is bearable, the pain from the thrush was excruciating.
And still a bit of pain where they're sore... but it is getting better!
The doctor said that after 7 days, if I am still getting pain then I can ring him and he'll make up a prescription for some tablets for me, at the moment I am just using canestan cream on me and nyastatin for Linus. His mouth certainly looks better as well!

Glad you're feeling a bit more back to normal now! It's nce when things start going right isn't it?
I actually enjoy expressing (aside from the washing and sterilising all the time)....it's quite satisfying producing a bottle of milk!

hello there i am a feb mum my 3rd son was born on the 4th but have only recently found your site ,he is 8 wks old now , bf is going really well now but at first he preffered feeding off the right side mw said it was really common , he is a fab sleeper at night (sorry) he has little sleeps through the day so theres no chance of me dozin off for an hour
hope all your babies are doin fine

starlover · 06/04/2005 08:45

hi jayhazromie! welcome to the feb babies thread.

my ds also sleeps well at night (thank god)... still not "enjoying" the breastfeeding...but Linus is thriving, so can't complain!

futurity · 06/04/2005 11:56

hi all. just had DS weighed..12lb 13oz at 8 weeks..piggy!! he has jumped up a centile and the health visitor said he was over eating a bit as he possets alot as well. she suggested cutting down the time on the breast by 5 minutes or just feeding on one side (he normally has both). I looked at the book for my first son and he was this weight at 11 weeks ..I obviously provide good milk for my porky boys!

DS sleeps well at night..feeds at 10.30 and then sleeps until 5 but in the day he would rather not sleep if given the choice..he would just feed!!

Harrizeb · 06/04/2005 16:33

Hi bunjies, just a suggestion, I bought a gadget that you use to suck the snot out of babies noses - used it for months when my DS couldn't blow his nose - does make them jump a little bit, and is really gross but also clears enough snot so that breathing and eating is easier
nuk nasal decongester

Hope this helps and sorry for the crash

starlover · 06/04/2005 17:44

wow futurity you're doing fab!
Linus is was 11lb 13oz last wednesday... so am guessing he is around the 12lb mark now, also 8 weeks old!

I wouldn't worry too much about how much he weighs just yet, and I would imagine he'd get a bit upset if you don't let him have what he wants/needs... i know ds does!

I was only 3oz heavier than Linus at birth, and yet at 6 weeks I was already 12lb!
I went on to become a perfectly healthy toddler... child... etc

starlover · 06/04/2005 17:45

half the time they're moaning that b/f babies aren't putting on enough weight, then they moan cos they put on too much!!!

SOMEONE has to be on that top centile!!!

jayhazromie · 06/04/2005 23:27

havnt had mine weighed in ages , but he is getting done on friday so i will let you know its his 6-8 wk check , even tho he will be 9 wks old , they couldnt fit us in any earlier.
he is very greedy tho !he would too ,just feed all day long ,then it becomes 8pm and sleeps till about 12 has another feed then sleeps till about 6.30 -7 am
i cant believe hes nearly 9 wk they grow soooo fast

Hazellnut · 07/04/2005 18:33

My Mum keeps joking that soon they will tell me dd needs to go on a diet as she is growing so well after being so little. She has little faith in HVs and weigh ins as she was always told not to feed my brother so much as he was hungry all the time). I don't think she ever took me to be weighed - perhaps explains my aversion to scales now

OP posts:
starlover · 08/04/2005 13:44

isn't it scary how quickly they grow? I can't believe that DS is nearly 9 weeks old.
I have been putting his pictures into a photo album, and I can't believe how tiny he was when he was born (well, compared to now!)...

time goes by too quickly!

jayhazromie · 08/04/2005 16:42

my poor baby had his first imms done today hes been fast asleep all afternoon , i think hes in shock, got him weighed 13 pound 9 oz the liddle piggy hes gone up a centile and a bit

Nik72 · 09/04/2005 20:52

Developed breast thrush - luckily managed to get in to GP yestaerday and treatment started to work fast - what a difference! No more pain! Thanks to MN actually realised what it was because of the symptoms having been discussed on recent threads. Seems to be such a common thing doesn't it? Honestly, this breast feeding seems to be one problem after another but hopefully can start to enjoy it at last now.

roosmum · 12/04/2005 11:01

hi to all the feb mums...ds was born 02.02.05...so can I join the club??
hope everyone's enjoying their new babies

starlover · 12/04/2005 11:53

hi roosmum! welcome to the thread...

i am doing ok, though still having a lot of pain on the right side during feeding. think it's because I have a nasty crack that just won't heal.
i expressed for a day to give it a break which helped a bit but am now back to square one!

does anyone else get "bitten" by their gummy baby?
Linus bites down really hard if he is cross and it hurts like hell! I often finish feeding (particularly on the right side again), and find a gum shaped red line around my boob where he has been biting down on me! OWWWW

roosmum · 12/04/2005 12:17

hi starlover...love your ds's name - unusual but cool (my ds is Rufus, seems similar kind of name to me - apologies if you don't agree )

sorry to hear about painful feeding - ouch!
haven't experienced anything like that, lucky me, but ds has been odd with his feeding for last couple of days - seems hungry, but screams when I offer him a breast, gets quite upset & takes a little while to calm down again. he's still feeding quite well anyay tho, just a little unusual stuff - might he just be grumpy?! hmm, 10 wks & grumpy already...doesn't bode well

roosmum · 12/04/2005 12:18

ah, better answer question...no biting here, tho I'm wondering how it might change when he gets teeth (one day!)

starlover · 12/04/2005 12:36

roosmum... ds has also been like that! i had to give him his dummy and calm him down and then start again because he was just screaming!

I like the name Rufus, it was on my original list of names!

I have heard that they have a bit of a growth spurt at this age, so maybe something to do with that? DS has been wanting feeding every 2 hours! which doesn't help with the sore boobs!

jolly4 · 12/04/2005 19:57

hi all hope evry 1 well have read new threads welcome too new mums it is quiet i think we are all busy still bf katy got the snuffles at the mo it is so pitiful and she crys alot she dosent have different crys for difrent things she just screams whatever green poos have stopped but i have started omiting dairy products out of my diet an it does seem too have helped so fingers crossed i am typin 1 handed as she on the boob again !!!!!!!!!!see you all keep up the good work xxx

burstingbug · 13/04/2005 17:04

Hello, just come accross this thread and thought I'd say hi
My DS was born on 21st Feb after a 31hr labour! He was 6 days over due and weighed 8lb 3oz.
He's now just over 7 weeks old and is cooing at us and trying to laugh which just melts mine and DH's hearts.
Looking forward to hearing from other Feb mums

starlover · 14/04/2005 09:36

welcome burstingbug!
and another little boy for the feb thread!
my ds has been attempting to laugh for the last few weeks too (is now 9 weeks), but it sounds more like a little cough!

What is your ds's name? if you don't mind me asking

roosmum · 14/04/2005 12:22

hi burstingbug...welcome to MN - I'm new here too

starlover - saw your post on minkis, did you find any good ones? I've been thinking of trying a minki or fuzzi bunz - I have a happy heiny & an angelbabes, really really like stuffables (though mainly using bambino mio prefolds & wraps). Would love to chat abt cloth, if you're as nappy mad as I am (dh thinks I'm REALLY sad - but he does his fair share of changing roo anyway).

starlover · 14/04/2005 16:39

roosmum... i have bought 2 slinki minkis to try out... will let you know how I get on. Think they may be a little bit big for him right now, but hopefully will fit in the summer and he can just wear a nappy and t-shirt, cos they're so cool!
I got one from kittykins and one from twinkleontheweb
At the moment I am using Nappy Nation no-fold which are quite good as i live in a flat and have no tumble drier or radiators so it has to be fast drying! Apparently the minki's are good as they are fleece and dry really quickly!

jolly4 · 14/04/2005 18:01

on the nappy side have you seen the little lamb type ?

roosmum · 14/04/2005 18:40

hi jolly,

yes have seen little lamb - a lot like totsbots?? but no experience of using them sorry...they look cute tho! getting on well with the prefolds, virtually no leaks now that we're used to them & really happy with roo's cloth bum! have to admit to sharing starlover's thing for cute nappies that'll look good with just a top in the summer...minkis have such funky designs, yum! also love my TB polkadot fleece wrap & rainbow wrap...hmm, can I persuade dh to let me indulge nappymania & get some more (minki maybe?? would love cowprint one ). which patterns did you get SL??
