Morning Ria

I'm only here for a little while.....feeling very sorry for myself......finally got myself to the doctors and she can't give me anything until I'm 16 weeks.....and will book me an urgent counselling appointment ....I broke down in there.....I've never done that before ......blardy hormones...

How did DH get on with his interview Ria?

Sputnik · 03/07/2008 10:18

Oh Norty, can't advise really but hang in there, and take care.

LittleMissNorty · 03/07/2008 10:23

Thanks Sputnik.....doctors advice was "keep yourself occupied"

You and DCs well?

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 10:33

why won't they give you anything until 16 weeks Norty? I started taking my ADs when i was 13 weeks pregnant as it;s usually only the first trimester when anything will go wrong if it's going to iyswim. The doctor and my psych were more than happy with this, and the psych deals with pregnant and new mums all the time. Have they referred you to anyone? I would try and see another doctor and push for something. You can't go on feeling this anxious for another 10 weeks before the meds would have kicked in.

gotta shoot out now for my ECG (v exciting, never had one of those before). Take it easy Norty and I'll see if I can pull out some links for you on drugs and pregnancy when I get back.

got some of my nappies through this morning...these. I'm intrigued by them as they seem very slim. Got five plus a couple of nighttime boosters and a lovely wash bag to store them in. They were designed by Clare Scott (attachement parenting guru) apparently

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 03/07/2008 10:50

Norty, sorry you're feeling so bad and the doc can't/won't help. Hope you do get something to help soon!

Jamlet has found the eject button on the DVD player ( and at the same time). I have also just cleared out her toy box and put some things asidde to get rid of, including a toy she likes, but we hate because it plays blinking annoying music. Is that really bad of me?

andiem · 03/07/2008 11:05

morning all sorry been awol for ages

Norty so sorry you are having such a hard time I agree with daisy that 13 weeks onwards should be fine all development is basically done by then and it is just growing to be done hang in tehre remember we are here for you well some of us

jammy I am ruthless with the toys have just got rid of a load of baby baby ones

morning sputnik
anyone remember the request to test isofix car seats well I'm doing it wonder if I get to keep them

LittleMissNorty · 03/07/2008 11:08

Oh fab Andie ....I'm going to have to get a new baby car seat now we have isofix, so am interested in what you get to test and what they're like.

I've got 4 highchairs coming between Sat and Thursday next week!

13 weeks....interesting....lets home I'm 12 weeks when I'm scanned on Monday then ....although its more likely to be 9-10

LittleMissNorty · 03/07/2008 11:09

hope, not home....god I'm going mad I tell you!

andiem · 03/07/2008 11:28

norty if I get to keep them you could have one

justRia · 03/07/2008 11:46

norty, sorry you're feeling bad. AND is fecking horrible. I can't remember when I started my ADs. But honestly, don't forget we're all her or on FB if you need us.

I have bought ANOTHER 2nd hand buggy. It's a McClaren - I've never had one before. It's filthy but I couldn't resist. Its brown with purply-pink circles -please tell me that's manly? Think I will lose money on the Graco 3-wheeler though, I wish I'd never bought it. Sorry, waffling.

DH doing his prep for the elderflower champagne. We went harvesting this morning.
He is having a working trial at the job after he has recovered from the weekend. He thought the woman in charge was fab (he doesn't normally like female chefs ). SHe is an ex army catering Sargeant Major and she said "I don't want any F-ing jumped up Jamie Olivers in my kitchen" (a quote from Giordon Ramsey I believe). Now that's howe to win over my DH

Must stop blathering and go to work... YR5 TODAY I hope (3 staff off and only me to cover

Norty, some links that might be useful, including the phone number for the National Teratology Information Service. this can only be accessed by health professional though

antidepressants in pregnancy

and again

and more with some info on tapering the dose towards term to reduce withdrawals on the baby

and some links on specific ADs....fluoxetine seems the safest all round, which was what my GP and psych told me as it has the longest track record.

citalopram

fluoxetine

sertraline

nortriptyline

I could only find stuff related to ADs nothing specifically on anti-anxiety meds, but I know ADs are often used to treat anxiety.

There is also the MIND helpline who may be able to help with questions on which drugs are suitable and when or info on talking therapies/CBT etc.

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 13:18

well my ECG was normal; bloods fine (iron levels 12.6) and no thyroid problems. pah!

what I did notice was that the cold I think I have is probably hay fever (as it comes and goes) and this might be causing my very mild asthma to flare up. I had a puff on DHs salbutamol inhaler over the weekend and felt better so I'm going back to the GP tomorrow to see what he thinks. If that's all it is, at least it can be dealt with, but I haven't had any asthma symptoms since before having DS and haven't used an inhaler for at least 8 years.

Saw my HV whilst at the surgery and she asked how I was feeling and I just burst into tears . Poor woman, she was only being nice!

LittleMissNorty · 03/07/2008 15:15

Thanks ladies and thank-you Daisy for those links ...I shall have a look later when DD is in bed.....its just as well I'm a health professional then isn't it . btw citalopram is what I've taken before as it has an "anti-anxiety profile"....I took a weeks worth before I realised I was pg

The counsellor called me in for an appointment this afternoon (blimey, I must have been bad this morning) and a chat has helped. He said something that really struck a cord that "anxious people feel they have to be in control of everything around them, even to the point of feeling responsible for other peoples feelings and their expectations of themselves are unachievably high"....

Daisy....are you feeling low as well? Are they just putting the tiredness down to preganncy then?

I might look into yoga or aquanatal classes for a bit of "me" time and "release of tension".....has anyone got experience of these? (need to get over the anxiety of actually going first though )

HellHathNoFury · 03/07/2008 15:16

Afternoon all!

I am sorry to hear everyones woes and I really feel for you Norty, I am really struggling myself with things at the moment and I have nothing like a pregnancy to deal with.

DS is well but crazy. He wanted a hobby horse - so we got him a little cheap one from the horse show - and now he will not be parted from it and all he does is tear around the house riding it and kissing it. I didn't think 1 years could ride hobby horses. I think we are going to have an equine addict, at least it runs in the family!

HellHathNoFury · 03/07/2008 15:25

Norty the GP says I am the same, that I am suffering with anxiety. It's horrible

HellHathNoFury · 03/07/2008 15:29

The worst bit for me is the forgetfulness and the stress-illnesses. But so far have avoided meds.

Sputnik · 03/07/2008 15:36

I guess as an early walker he has a good sense of balance Fury. Sounds very cute.

LMN, glad you're feeling a little better and you got to talk to someone, yoga or aquanatal sounds like a great idea to me, I'd go for the water myself but that's just me.

Daisy, good about the ecg. Are you still getting palpitations?

Oh and chocolate raisins are evil. Under no circumstances should you go within a mile of them. DH came home with a 400g box yesterday evening and I have eaten the lot. Thats 1732 calories

Sputnik · 03/07/2008 15:40

I had forgetfulness and stress-illnesses when pg anyway, and I'm not really an anxious person. Oh and tiredness tiredness tiredness. Not that I'm feeling to fresh even now: DS still waking at 6 and using me as an assault course.

HellHathNoFury · 03/07/2008 15:50

!!!!

I am so happy... I finally found my old best friend from 10 years ago...I have been looking for her on and off for about 2 years! aaahhhhhhhh

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 03/07/2008 16:14

Daisy, glad there's nowt serious wrong. Norty, have you considered reflexology? It can be done during pg, as long as the person knows you are.

I think I have food poisoning. I left baby group early as I felt ill and was sick 4 times on the spot half way home, and 3 times since getting in. Can't get hold of DH to tell him to come home early. I feel sick, overheated, and faint

LittleMissNorty · 03/07/2008 16:22

thanks Jammy may give it some thought.

Have you eaten something suspect? Did DH or DD have it as well? Take it easy....put lots of toys in front of DD, cbeebies and lie on the sofa....

Hi Fury & Sputnik.....with being pg as well, its very difficult to tell whats due to hormones and whats due to anxiety....

justRia · 03/07/2008 17:44

Anxiety is terrible

Your DS sounds cute fury.

Glad your blood tests are OK daisy. Does anyone know what the protein test shows? I have googled it and terrified myself. Apparently my blood count and the other test are fine, but the GP hasn't seen the protein test yet. Should I panic?

Also, do you really boil soaked dried chick peas for 2 1/2 hours? (threw the packet away after put them into soak)

Must go and feed the kids...
