Hi all,

Will try and catch up but little chance..hope everyone is ok..

I was on a course last week so havent had much chance to get on.

Am feeling a little better but sadly our friend who had cancer died over the weekend .It is a real shame as he had bought his wedding forward from September to July (as they didnt think he would make September) and as it transpired even that wasnt enough.Seems very unfair as he was only 35.

Got the proofs of the pictures we had taken of L and M back yesterday.Neither of them are smiling on any of them-they were stony faced throughout the shoot. We will have to pay to have them done again as they look miserable on every single one!

Will try and have a read up and see what you've all been up to?

Did we ever plan the Cambridge meet up?Hope I havent missed it?

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 09:28

Lupins, I think the best way to get a positive reaction to any news is to make sure you tell it in a positive way.

Pictures of the Zoom Tandem (ABC Designs) on my profile now.

Lupins71 · 01/07/2008 09:49

TYG blimey your not wrong juggernaut! looks very nice tho, A looks very happy to be sitting up ruling over everything

AprilMeadow · 01/07/2008 09:50

Scoot so sorry hear about your friend x

TYG wow that is mahoosive! A looks to have gone fairer in the hair dept....

elkiedee · 01/07/2008 09:57

Scoot, sorry about your friend.

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 10:03

I'm so sorry about your friend, Scoot. How terribly sad.

Glad you're not feeling too bad. Bummer about the pics. It's hard to get two kids on a good day, I suppose.

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 10:13

Oh and yes, A is basically blonde now, having started life looking ever so slightly Korean.

Fecking plumber is fecking back again. I am sick of the sight of him. He came at 8 this morning and is supposed to be finished by 11. Really finished this time. Please God, because I may brain him with a toilet seat if he says he has to get another part or come back another day.

DH has his "wallet open" so to speak, on house stuff. Hoorah! He's going to call our Oirish builder bloke from last weekend and get him to get his various tradesmen pals to come and sort all our little niggly jobs out. I wrote a list of things I wanted done and he basically agreed with everything, except the two items of his furniture that I wanted to to throw out. We're talking a black leather sofa that he's had for about 7 years. There's nothing wrong with it per se, but it's too big for the office, it doesn't suit any other room in the house and frankly, we don't need it. Other item is a huge antiique (?) draughtsman's desk which DH used to have in his flash loft apartment. It looked great in a 1700 sq ft loft. It looks ridiculous in a 100 sq ft study in an Edwardian house. Grrr. He has used the study about 4 times since we moved in here. I'm trying to make it nice so it's a place worth going and he won't let me do anything. FGS.

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 10:17

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH. WHY DID I WRITE THAT LAST POST?

Plumber: TYG, I have to pop down to the plumbers' merchant to get two 90 degree bends. Couldn't foresee I'd need those, yesterday.

Lupins71 · 01/07/2008 11:03

TYG you do know that only happened beacause you wrote that dont you shhhhhh go away plumber you fippiin pestRight armed with 3 weetabix in my tummy and a grumpy baby and half a million things that we "may" need I am off to town, going to the library as dd thinks it the most amazing place in the world, dd swimming at 4.30 then diiner (pasty & cake) in the park and long walk home - oh I fancy a tea with no milk

Themasterandmargaritas · 01/07/2008 11:23

Scoot, so sorry to hear about your friend. What a tragic waste of a life.

Tea with no milk is the best Lups

TYG, count to ten, deep breath, in and out. Now go and get the toilet seat and bash his brains out, you'll feel so much better You'd think he'd know better not to mess with a heavily pregnant Irish lady.

We also have a 'plumber' on the job, he has dug the hole to unearth the pipes right outside the front door. Along the path to the driveway. Yesterday. And is he there today? Oh no, no sight of him. Just a hole. It must be a genetic plumber issue, worldwide.

Wow also at that beast of a pram, it looks amazing, even to one with little buggy knowledge. A looks a lot blonder, we need some mother daughter close ups please!!

We have been to dd's ballet display, with FIL and a surrogate granny we borrow from time-to-time. She was amazing, the best one there! I am going to try and find her a proper ballet teacher in town and see if it can be her 'thing'. Much better than winning races at sports day

So FIL is about to pop off in the taxi to the airport (I can't take him as it takes about 1.5 hours to cross town and ds has a gymnastics display!!)He is so amazing, quite some stories, though getting a little forgetful. I have the utmost respect for people who deal with small children and elderly folk. Both have much more patience than I have.

TillyScoutsmum · 01/07/2008 11:34

Scoot - sorry about your friend

Hi to everyone else. Where's my fellow ginger beer swigging non impregnated chum ?? And PJ ? No need to hide just cos you're too much of a wuss to do cc. We won't hold it against you

I've added a couple of pics to my profile. All mine were old

And - Tilly has just taken her first couple of steps on her own . I wiped away a little tear. I know most of May babies have been walking for ages but Til hasn't been the quickest of the mark when its comes to gross motor skills. She was fairly non plussed by it and had merely toddled closer to the telly to get a better look at Justin on Something Special. I think he's her first crush

elkiedee · 01/07/2008 11:34

So have you hit the plumber yet?

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 12:25

No, but I'm about to. He reckons there's something wrong with the toilet seat fittings and he'll have to come back when we get them replaced and take off the cistern to fit it? I don't farking think so. Whoever heard of not being able to replace a toilet seat without a plumber? I just want him out. Once all the pipes are reconnected and the toilet is working he can bugger off. My FIL can fix the rest. Jeeeesus.

JamInMyWellies · 01/07/2008 14:32

Hi all,

Scoot am so sorry about your friend how awful, I dont think even when you know its going to happen it makes it any easier. x

TYG fookin plumbers hope you get it sorted. BY the way that buggy us like a juggenaught you are going to have some muscles on you in a few months time.

Everyone who was talking about mat clothes earlier does anyone have summery skirts can no longer fit into any of my reg clothes and got a couple of pairs of shirts but would like some skirts you know floaty type ones. Would be most grateful and and pay you in cash or krispy kremes. Oh am a size 12 but reckon if they are strechy or tie waists 14 would work. Have been on every mat clothes website and nothing.

Buy the plumber a cornetto..see if it doesnt spur him on..

It is sooo hot.I have just walked one of the customers round to his rehab project around the corner and was practically forced to buy a Magnum and consume on the way back.

scootermum · 01/07/2008 15:13

CONGRATS Lups BTW? (Did I read right?!)

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 16:31

Scoot, if you send me your address, I can send your dresses back. Remember those??? You forgot to pick them up from the post office that time and they were sent back to me. Or if you still pass my house, you're welcome to call in for them. (Or for a cup of tea any time. )

MKG · 01/07/2008 17:25

Scoot--I'm so sorry about your friend. Cancer sucks! I know with my dad he was doing so well and then all of sudden "I'm sorry Mr. Knight, you have 2 weeks to live".

Good afternoon everyone. I've had a busy day Cruz woke up at 5 for some unknown reason, and because I didn't eat last night I was super hungry and couldn't get back to sleep so I went downstairs and a breakfast shake, got on our eliptical machine for an hour, took the dog for a walk, came home read for a while, and then just came home from grocery shopping. Oh I did manage to take a shower in there too.

Tomorrow is testing day. I have the tests downstairs, but dh is off today, and a girl needs her own space to do stuff like this. Plus I want you guys to be the first to know.

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2008 18:57

MKG! I didn't know you love us that much! I'll be thinking of you.

Plumber just gone. The two and a half hour job we started with, which was going to cost £150 plus £70 parts, has taken four visits over nearly three weeks about 20 hours, help from two of plumbers friends plus his brother, demolishing half the bathroom, a new toilet (£160) plus nearly £200 in parts and £330 labour due to his inability to actually see what the job involved. I'm playing a lot of this down to DH as he was hitting the roof earlier. It was far, far cheaper to have a carpenter and two plasterers here last Saturday to do a much bigger job. Stung or what? Am seriously considering buying a very large DIY book and tackling some of these jobs myself in future. I couldn't be any less inept than this guy was.

Lupins71 · 01/07/2008 20:21

TYG jeepers thats a heck of a bill, hope dh has checked it very carefully and got them to show reciepts for everything they claim to have needed - can you tell I watch rogue traders

SCOOT yes its true at present I am with child , have a great weekend I love festivals I have convinced dp to let us all go with the dc it will fab - must be glasto tho, my fav

Well we all got soaked cold and soaked and cold and very wet and cold, when we left tis morning it was a perfect summers day not too hot not too breezy just a light wind, we arrive at tavi and it is clouding over by the time dd had done swimming it was chucking it down still had an hour and a halfs walk, we were all drenched and freezing bless the little ones they were fab, dd jogged nearly the whole way home, arlen kept pulling of his raincover - I think te penny may have dropped today that rain and wind equals being bloody cold

Was most shocked in the shoe shop as well dds feet have has a growt spurt this week, I got her measured about 3 weeks ago but yesterday she couldnt get on 2 of her pairs of shoes - shes only gone and grown 2 full sizes! I work with the girl in the shoe shop she also works in the pub and we were having a giglge about it - thank god I didnt get some grumpy moose who thought of me a bad mother

Right am off to my lovely bedroom that has the heating on as its floopin chilly in devon

elkiedee · 01/07/2008 20:58

Lupins, at the growth of your dd's feet.

Sorry about your plumber troubles TYG - if you need someone out again before you learn the DIY (and I'm sure you'll be great) my cousin recommended someone from Friern Barnet who came over and fixed our shower/tap thing over the bath fairly efficiently in well under an hour. We also have a builder guy who doesn't pretend to be a plumber but always seems to be able to find someone to do the jobs that are outside of his knowledge.
