Sorry if someone else has already started one - couldn't find it!

Much better night last night, maybe due to gripe water?

Just got the call from the Paed.
DD has her full assessment a week monday.
Just as we were considering driving to BIBIC as well!

PeachyBAHons · 16/07/2008 14:50

i'd still think about it vs, the tests (all done in a very informal setting) are much kore comprehensive, and they offer solutions which is more than our Paed ever did

Do they not screen for stsp. at your lo's schools? DS2 will be screened next year as he has signs of dyslexia

PeachyBAHons · 16/07/2008 14:51

stsp = dysp, ooops

Mum2BabyRoo · 16/07/2008 15:58

Sagitta - bit late now I know, but I will def be coming along tomorrow! See you there

scorpio1 · 16/07/2008 16:22

£240 for passports

Also am mates df has been slagging off my new hair to dh.

VictorianSqualor · 16/07/2008 16:35

Well....
Basically I wasn't very impressed with the SENCO's remarks to DD on sports day and DD's class teacher had said going to the GP may be quicker for a proper assessment than what they could do.

So..I went to my GP, who was great and referred me straight away, The Paed's secretary rang me today, he is going on leave in two weeks so trying to get all his referrals seen before then.

They offered me Monday but we couldn't make it so was talking to DP about going to BIBIC instead when they called back and offered next monday instead.

At the school all they've done is marked her on the Movement ABC scale(yesterday the teacher told me about this) her results by her teacher came back as needing a referral to Paeds and that was with half the questions unanswered so the teacher got me to do it and it was even worse

If I don't get what I want from this path (a dx, and some kind of agreement on both what extra help she needs and will get) then we'll go to BIBIC.

PeachyBAHons · 16/07/2008 16:50

Do be aware VS that some PAeds to vary but IME a dx is something that takes quite a lot of time, be prepared for that.

Just ahd aprents evening- the blardy teacher described DS3 as having a 'minor speech impediment' and not needinga statement after 2009-10....... what a load of complete and utter bollocks - its also not fair to go round telling aprents thier child is getting better becuase some might beleive it.

VictorianSqualor · 16/07/2008 17:07

Yeah, I know Peachy, as long as I feel like something is happening I'll be happy.
I'm quite surprised it has gone as quickly as it has already tbh.
It's ony been three weeks and I've already had two talks with the teacher, a GP referral and an appointment from the Paed. Was expecting to wait forever

LadyBee · 16/07/2008 18:07

ooh sorry sagitta but yup definitely coming too

LadyBee · 17/07/2008 10:48

Sal22 · 17/07/2008 12:42

Hi Scorpio and Carey.

Scorpio, Mimi's beautiful! What a cute smile! O btw, meant to say earlier, but I love your hair, it's beautiful. How do you get it in such great condition? Mine was great (or felt anyway, probably didn't quite look) while I was pregnant, but now it's quite dry. And I don't even dry it that much lately, as long as it's clean I recon "close enough".

Sorry Carey, my knowledge is extremely limited, but hope Ellie feels better soon.

I guess I better get ready, am leaving for the meetup in 30 mins or so. Wish you could all come!

scorpio1 · 17/07/2008 12:58

My hair is normally really dry, at the salon i get them to do a mega-deep conditioning treatment every 8 weeks for £7.50 - so worth it. Then i do intensive conditioner once a week at home, the brilliant brunette one. Think the dye helps make it glossy too

Carey87 · 17/07/2008 21:10

hi ya,

went to clinic and it was just me being a paranoid mummy, i think the health visitor thought id gone completely mad!

anyway, hope your all doing ok

lots of luv

Cxx

I've been having so many 'this time last year' flash backs! Am pretty sure it was around now we conceived. Distinctly remember by the time it was DP's birthday, in 4 weeks time, we knew and I was off the alcohol, which immediately meant my friend (who has just had her baby) spotted it and knew too. It was all so nerve-wracking as I'd had a miscarriage just 3 months earlier and been diagnosed with PCOS 3 months before that. We were convinced it was going to take us forever to conceive, but ended up getting pregnant almost immediately, so were surprised, thrilled and then devastated when we lost the first pregnancy.
I was thinking about all this on the way home, contemplating the conversation we'd had at the meet-up about timing next children. It occurred to me that my consultant who was treating me for the PCOS had advised me only to ttc for 6 months for the next one before seeking help, I suppose assuming that although I fell pregnant without assistance this time, there were no guarantees for the next.
Haven't quite worked out what this means for me in terms of 'planning' the next - must try to apply brain a bit more.

LadyBee · 17/07/2008 22:03

Hello LouMoose! Welcome!

Sal22 · 17/07/2008 22:42

Welcome, Loumoose. Everyone on this thread is great - I am slightly addicted.

Oh LadyBee, sorry to hear about your earlier miscarriage. On the PCOS - I too was diagnosed with it, so expected to have a lot of problems conceiving. I'm not sure how this was related (might be coincidence), but a couple of months before we started trying to conceive, I was really stressed at work, so decided to go for regular accupuncture treatments. There they also suggested I drink this EXTREMELY vile chinese tea stuff that they brewed for me, so I did that for a month, and it seemed to sort out my hormones (some skin problems prior). Anyway, I fell pregnant almost immediately, and after reading how accupuncture apparently helps a lot with fertility problems, I've wondered about the link there.

Scorpio, that's great! I'd love to get regular treatments - that's a bargain. Hmm, there is a training salon near us, maybe I should try and find out how much that'll cost. I love going to the salon, but can't quite afford regular trips at the moment...

Carey, glad all is ok. I'll share my moment of shame - I once called up the gp, explaining to the secretary that I had to see her IMMEDIATELY, as Roelof's bits were a bit swollen and looked like it had blisters or something on (this was when he was about a week or two old). She put me through to the doctor, I spoke to her, she said to try Sudacrem all over there too (avoiding the tip if this actually ever happens to anyone!), and if not better within 2 hours, to come in. My moment of shame: It was just his erection before having a wee, and the nappy that pressed his skin against it that I thought might be blisters or something... I suspect the doctor has heard that one before and was just being tactful

Sal22 · 18/07/2008 08:46

Hi everyone. Oh, I wish you were posting already - I have to share my brilliant news: For the first time ever, Roelof's slept through the whole night!!! I don't even care if it was just a fluke and if he'll be back to 3am again tonight - this morning he only woke up at 7!!! I wonder what brought it on - went to sleep at around 7 / 8 last night as usual. When I went to bed (around 11), I even tried to give him his dream feed, but he wouldn't even open his mouth (normally drinks in his sleep a bit), so I thought I'd be awake at around 12 or 1. But no! And he was so cheerful this morning, chatting and laughing away. Has since drank quite a bit (more than usual - I guess they make up for what they missed at night?), and is now sleeping again. He doesn't feel sick or anything, so I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

Hope everyone else had great nights as well. And if not, hope dh's / dp's can help out tonight since it's almost weekend. Anyone has any weekend plans? I'm quiet - will be moving Roelof's cot back to his room (moved it to ours when inlaws were here), and then throwing out some old clothes etc, as my wardrobes are a mess.

If all still well by 11:30, I'm going to the Big Screem (Summer Time with Juliette Binoche) today. I have to get the breastfeeding sorted out again, so thought I could just have my boobs out all the time there.
