I sent M to a Nursery that was new GM, he started on their first day. But they did have an older children's part so I had something to base it on. I pay around £40 per day for J to go to Nursery (but that's after a 10% sibling discount). I've never had any problems with them, I think you just know whether it feels right for you or not, if you've got any doubts when you meet the manager/staff then it's not. I'd advise getting his name down elsewhere for January too, for peace of mind.

this is where my 2 go

Elkie - they do cost a lot of my take home pay, but I get tax credits towards it. My nursery bill for both of them on a month where M gets his grant funded element is just over £800, then £14 for M's pre-school day, and £120 for the childminder J goes to once a week. (And I have 2 afternoons off a week so I'm not paying full-time!).I bring home around £1100 so there's not much left! The cost will come down as of August though as M will go to holiday club at his new school (which is half the price of Nursery!) and his Dad's parents have offered to have him one day a week.

I prefer the Nursery to the childminder but I think that's just personal preference.

Great news from MJ. Hope she's well enough to be home soon.

SOL - Hope K and B ok. How are you feeling today?

I'm downstairs with dc watching scooby doo. DH is still in bed. Just about to make him a cuppa then make sure he gets up!!

Hope everyone ok today.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 22/06/2008 10:59

really pleased that mj has finally got her op, just a shame they couldn't do it in time for her holiday

I've cured M's fear of the hoover - by getting him to do the hoovering for me . I need to go over it again but it got the worst of J's frosties up and is progress! Now I just have to cure J

M has gone off to the Library with my gran, he loves going but J needed a sleep and I've got loads to do at home so we asked granny to oblige.

runnyhabbit · 22/06/2008 18:23

MJ is home
Safe and sound. Still sore, but a lot better.

cazboldy · 22/06/2008 18:44

Yay Great news!

Hope she feels much better soon xxx

I am feeling a bit down today. there is something wrong with the exhaust on my truck....it's falling off. I haven't paid the last bill for it yet

We can't afford to keep the bloody thing running, but we can't afford to sell it as we owe more than it is worth!

Any ideas gratefully received!

Including fuel it cost me just short of £900 last month to have a car... and considering we only get £1900/£2000 a month - no wonder I am struggling a bit!

sorry for the moan .........

runnyhabbit · 22/06/2008 18:59

caz - is there anyway it could be converted to LPG? Dh is seriously looking into this for our next car, and thinks it will cost anywhere between £800 and £1500 for the conversion, but then gas will only cost about 50p a litre. Some cars can get grants towards the work too (think it depends on the cars age)

oooggs · 22/06/2008 19:44

blimey caz

hurray for mammyjo

ds1 started on day one of the opening of his new nursery - fantastic - no teething probs and he loves it and so do I. So much so I went back to work so that dts could go as well (I know some of you will think I am mad, but it has saved my sanity)

I won't go into costs because it is on site and subsidised so very different, but they have 'free for all' (couldn't think of the right word) that anyone can go to all over the UK as well as business ones which we have

I have been out with ds1 from 8.40am - 5pm we went on the Rainbow trip to a Woodland Park and had a whale of a time.

Dts looked after very well by dh and washing washed, dried & put away, tea on table when I got home and kitchen spotless domestic godess he is [faint]

As I backed car into garage he cycled out on his bike for work - I didn't even get to speak to him!!

NEW THREAD

That ok!!?

elkiedee · 22/06/2008 21:25

Hi all

Happy birthday to Dippy's granny

Thanks for news of mj Runny, hope mj continues to recover well, just wish she could have had the treatment before it became an emergency case.

We bought D's first shoes today, generously paid for by my dad, then took him (without shoes on of course) paddling in a park. Nothing exciting but it felt like one of the best Sunday afternoons in a while. I'm pretty tired now though!
