Hello everyone, just back from the pre-school fair. The weather was actually really nice although it looks a bit pants again now.

Thanks for the update about MJ Runny. Really pleased that she's having the op. Can understand her being scared though. Keep us informed. Send her lots of love from me.

Caz - about croup. I have heard from friends that a humidifier is good. Sounds promising about the job. I probably would ring but only if I'd talked to DH first.

SOl - Glad your night wasn't too bad. Bless B going downstairs til 8.15. Hope you're feeling better soon.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 13:55

do it Caz (but inspect the house before you let DH speak to them about the job )

weather yuck here too.

send my love to mj please runny xx

I am slightly hungover

AngeG · 21/06/2008 13:58

I just saw you had posted and wondered if you'd only just got up POTC Shame on you being hungover Hope you had a good night!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 14:08

I have not only just got up
I have already collected J from the twonk

AngeG · 21/06/2008 14:11

I'll let you off then

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 14:18

Now I need to go into town and sort out my phone. Can't be bothered though!

cazboldy · 21/06/2008 14:53

my thought aswell POTC

Yes we do have a humidifier as ds1 used to have croup really badly a couple of times a year

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 15:07

Are any of you geeky enough to know about broadband???

The twonk set mine up and it's with BT, the contract is still in his name but has now expired so I can change it if I want to. I seem to be paying ridiculously high charges for it.

Am looking at Sky and getting landline/broadband/tv from them. We can't get freeview through the aerial here, the only way is through sky so it would mean I could dump my children in front of cbeebies watch Gavin & Stacey on BBC3

Any thoughts?

AngeG · 21/06/2008 15:14

Have broadband, but am not geeky. What do you want to know?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 15:18

well really I want someone to tell me whether I should change or not and who to

I'm limited because of where I live, not many providers will do it in the sticks.

cazboldy · 21/06/2008 15:23

we are with tiscali, but i have been wondering whether to do the sky thing too - sounds quite good

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 15:36

I have found a solution - going round to see my uncle who is geeky enough to understand it all

PillockOfTheCommunity · 21/06/2008 15:39

The Sky one was less when I rang them than quoted on the website too, they've discounted it to £10 for broadband at the moment, and landline is half price for 6 mths, so I'd be paying £16 for tv, £10 for broadband, and £5 then £10 for phone.

AngeG · 21/06/2008 15:57

Sorry posted then disappeared. Sounds like a good idea seeing your uncle. Good luck xx

runnyhabbit · 21/06/2008 16:06

no news from MJ. Will let you know when I do

potc - my sis has sky tv & broadband and think she pays about £25 a month for the 2.

NorthernLurker · 21/06/2008 16:15

Can I send my love to MJ as well? Guess by now that pesky gallbladder may well be out - and good riddance!
I've been shopping today for soemthing to wear at the wedding next week. I've got a dress and scary knickers .
SOL - verybody in my house feels like that I think - we are all - even the girls - knackered and fed up - weather is lousy here today.

Arse - B has just woken up after less than 1/2 an hour

Byeeeeeee

NorthernLurker · 21/06/2008 16:29

this is the dress - what do you all think?

Also dh and I are snarling at each other because he's tired and stressed and so am I and he failed to comment on my hair cut - which I had today as well. I know it doesn't look a lot different in length but it's vastly different in finish as it hadn't been cut for 6 months! Grr!

elkiedee · 21/06/2008 16:51

Hi all, glad to hear they're finally going to do that op, but hope there'll be news of her soon.

just going out to the park briefly, see you later.

cazboldy · 21/06/2008 17:21

I like it NL

and I know what you mean about the hair - dh didn't notice when I last had mine done, and I hadn't had it cuit for 3 years!

geordieminx · 21/06/2008 17:37

Hey ladies;

Dress is lovely NL

Welcome Lexi

POTC-You know I am the tech expert... Once I have had a cuppa will explain all!

Have been to the Royal Highland Show today - twas lovely - lots of animals and tractos and yummy samples of food - we were all in our element!!!

In prep for getting a job (not the HSBC one, another one), I rang a couple of nurseries to see what the crack was with availabilty/cost... out of the 7 I rang... 1 could do 1 day and 1 afternoon a week - the rest are full til Jan

So, I have eventually found this place

What does everyone experienced in this sort of stuff think? It opens in Sept, is £700pcm, and is literally 2 mins walk from dp's work? Honest opinions would be apprecated!

Sexonlegs · 21/06/2008 17:56

Hello

Just back from an afternoon on a windy beach. Was lovely, as it was really quiet. Gorgeous homemade cake as well at the cafe

NL, lovely dress indeed.

GM, that nursery looks fabulous. 700 quid pm - is that ft?

NorthernLurker · 21/06/2008 17:57

Hi GM

Ok - well the fees sound ok - I assume that's a fulltime place? I'm paying £641 in July for B (gulp) for four days so if that is for a five day week then it sounds very reasonable. The philosophy sounds very promising and the location is great - close to your work or dh's is a must imo when looking at nursery. Either that or one close to home. You need to go and look round the site and I would want to ask how their setup will differ from a tradional British nursery - how seperate will the age groups be etc. Will there be somewhere for C to nap? (assuming he wants to ) It's new and that is either going to be great or a bit of a disaster - so I would look at some of the full ones and put his name down for January at one - just in case. Also food wise - will they provide all meals for that fee or will you have to do a pack up? Our nursery does all meals which is a massive relief for me - no way am I up to making baby packed lunch every day. HTH

geordieminx · 21/06/2008 18:15

Yeah, its full time and provide meals... I think?

oooggs · 21/06/2008 19:23

lexi - I have ds1 (4) starting school in Sept, dts g/b (14mths) & baby due Jan 09

gm - nursery looks lovely, close to work is good, all meals is good, I don't know much about costs

thanks for your tips - I can't stop the sickness unless I am sick and I can't do that either

OP posts:
Eddas · 21/06/2008 20:02

Evening everyone

GM, ds' nursery would cost £760 if he went full time. They also provide all meals which IMO is essential as I just couldn't be doing with faffing about doing packed lunches When i was looking for a nursery most of them were full until at least sept majority of them were full until Jan

Hi lexilex, i have a dd who's 4 and ds who's 15 months

It still amazes me how many of us have a 4 yo plus the april 07 baby(s). at least we'll be able to support each other in sept, or in my dd's case Jan! You'll all be able to give me tips

DH off out tonight so i'm here alone, well with dc. I should be doing some work but..............................
