lexilex, my dd was 4 last week and her school do 2 intakes, Sept and Jan. Apparently they take children born Sept-Dec fulltime when they start in sept. Jan-April children half days in sept til the individual is ready for full days. I believe they're all fulltime by Oct half term. The jan intake is for May-Aug bdays and tehy start off with half days until they're ready but by Feb half term they'll all be fulltime. My dd would be fine to start in sept though, but won't do her any harm to wait a few more months. Although she'll be lost at preschool as her best friend starts in Sept

lexilex · 21/06/2008 20:19

its funny how differant things are, the april-august babies will be full time afer oct half term at our school!!!

oooggs · 21/06/2008 20:24

ds1 is going to a school where they only take 30 per year so by Oct half term all children will be full term

the other local schools, who take more intake do born 1 Sept - 29 Feb full time from day one and born 1 March - 31 August part time til Christmas then full time in January

Hello

Jake does two half days and then goes full time on his birthday (10th Septemeber) At his school all children are in full time by just after October half term even the summer birthdays.

Nl - Lovely dress.

GMM - I agree with NL Nursery looks fab and fees are good, but as it's brand new it may have some teething problems. Good idea to put C's name down at another one you like just in case.

Eddas about DD being without her best friend. TBH I'm glad J goes quite quickly. My friend's DS is an August birthday and when he started he did half a term of afternoons then half a term of mornings before starting full time in January. She worked 3 days a week and found sorting childcare around those 1/2 days a nightmare.

Feeling a bit bleeurgh this afternoon. Not sure what it is, maybe just tired. Think an early night might be in order.

Eddas · 21/06/2008 20:35

i think dd's school is a bit too ott on easing them in tbh. They only have 30 per year and it's a small village school! I wish she was starting in sept as dec/jan is the busiest time for me at work so a total pita to be off. But then i'm only in one day a week and i think dd will be one of the children going fulltime after a couple of weeks. Especially as i think half the class areher preschool friends so she'll know loads of them already. I have told dh that he will have to take fridays off work for about 6 weeks(possily) so that he can collect on a friday as i won't be able too it's only a week off in total and if she gos fulltime quite quickly he'll be able to wangle leaving ealry instead by working lunches so fingers crossed it'll be ok

that turned out quite a long waffle as per usual

Doobydoo · 21/06/2008 20:40

Mj thinking of you, hope you've had op now and it all went ok.

Runny - isnt that a year early for j to be starting school?

SOL - sorry you're feeling rough Yy for B riding her bike, we need to start helping nath to learn, im sure he could just need some half decent weather to get him to the park to practise.

have had money vredited for laptop sp should be able to get a new one next week, thank fuck!!

stayed on phone to friend till half 1 last night talking about her dh and how he plays games and how controlling he is and how he bulllys her and her dd1. arranged to go see her dd1 do majorettes this afternoon then do something with dc then her dd1 would come here for the night. This morning - 'oh dh being really love today, bought stuff to build a patio, hes coming to watch dd1 at her thing then we're going into town blah blah blah. So we didnt go and she said shed let me know if she still wanted me to have her for the night but have heard nothing so i assume not!! Im getting pissed off with it all now, has been going on for years, slowly gertting worse. I know how hard it is to leave someone like that, i had an ex who was violent and controlling and dd's dad had his violent moments too. But he is seriously affecting her dd1, shes depressed and shes scared of him. mmy friemnd knows this fumlmlm well, its not like she cant see it cos she tells me about it yet still she does nothing. Its so frustrating i just want to shake her or better yet go round and chuck him the fuck out! sorry but ive needed to get that off my chest all day and j is sick of hearing it!Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

lexilex · 21/06/2008 21:59

sol, he has crutches and his mates without familys who have nothing better to do come and pick him up, he was round his mates last night playing on the ps3 and getting pissed, he rolled in a 8am!!! at first i was understanding cos he could really do anything else but can help but feel hes taking the piss now, seen as im left to look after the kids 24/7 now, and the house, and the money, and the shopping, whilst his sits on his arse all day and goes out with his mates all night, sorry for the rant but needed to get it out,

and congrats on ds and riding his bike today, was supposed to teach o this summer somewhen but not got round to it, x

elkiedee · 21/06/2008 22:12

Post written earlier but never pressed post message.

GM, the nursery looks promising, and it mentions something about making food on site on the website. I didn't go down the nursery route, largely because of availability and price. Private nurseries here cost such a high proportion of my take home pay and often more, even Council nurseries are 50% and they're very hard to get babies into. To be honest I'm shocked at the price you quote and that that NL pays, as it would be a great rate on London wages but doesn't sound like it on Glasgow or York ones.

I do wonder about the emphasis on learning and curriculum for babies and young children (of course C and all our babies must be learning all the time, but I think I'm looking for play and caring in all senese). Also, the newness - I'd feel a bit daunted at being a guinea pig for the theories. But I think the suggestion already made of trying to register for a back up for January is a good plan.

elkiedee · 21/06/2008 22:19

Pesha, I hope your friend plucks up the courage to leave this relationship some time, sounds awful.

And Lexi, grrr at your dp, that seems very unfair on you.

lexilex · 21/06/2008 22:22

thank you elkiedee, that just men for you though. lol. xxxx

Sexonlegs · 22/06/2008 08:06

Morning. Sorry Lex, I went to bed.

Sorry to judge so early on in our virtual relationship, but your dp is taking the piss big time.

If I see a man on crutches in town I'll have a word in his ear!

Morning Elkie and anyone else around.

Good night here. B woke at 3 is, but both back until 7.15. K has a temp again grrrrr.

runnyhabbit · 22/06/2008 09:36

message from mj

"Morning! I am now minus my gallbladder! Feel ok. Very sore but the awful pain from the stones has gone. Hoping I might get home today or tomorrow. See you soon xx"

runnyhabbit · 22/06/2008 09:45

Morning all

It is early for J to be going fulltime, but he is still in the nursery class, and thats how the school runs it. Some friends dc (who are in different catchment) are going part time from Sept, for a year. We did worry at first that it would be a long day for him, but he's in a private nursery atm and he's there from 7.30 til 2, so its about the same amount of time.

GM - that nursery looks great. The cost doesn't seem too extorniate (as nursery fees go) If the boys were in nursery full time, It would be £600 each. The only I have to supply is a change of clothes. Everything else is included.

best be off. Dh working today, so I need to entertain the troops and not stay on MN
