October '04 babies - anyone fancy a kip?!!

I certainly do. Bean is becoming more and more unsettled in the night as the weeks go by and it is taking its toll. Florence, you have my utmost admiration for still being alive, let alone managing a trip to NZ!! Hope its going well.

Bean is 3 months tomorrow, and people are already asking me if I am going to start weaning him soon? I would like to keep bf until he is 6 months, but how do I know if he needs to start sooner? Or will I know that is a stupid question when I have a permanently hungry baby on my hands?!!
What is everyone else planning to do?

Btw, am reading a marvellous, marvellous book called "What Mothers Do (especially when it looks like nothing)" by Naomi Stadlen. It talks about what a shock it all is, what we provide for a our babies and crucially, what I find missing from so many other books, how we actually feel - exhausted, sometimes angry towards db, unsure of ourselves etc etc. It does not tell me what I "should" be doing - hurrah!!! Cannot recommend it highly enough. Is doing me the world of good and we like that.

Bean - you are an amazing mum!

Looking after bean is a full time job without all the other bits - so don't beat yourself up. It is hard to juggle both and my philosphy is that dd won't be this small for long so I am going to enjoy it - the ironing and the bathroom will be there a lot longer (and they don't complain if left alone ).

I am also with you at keeping dd stationary for now as I will obviously need to grow the eyes in the back of the head first

hi everyone, it is a very long time since I last posted! Hope you are all OK.
DS has his last jabs next Thursday but DD1 has chickenpox so am expecting DD2 to get it and not sure if I want DS to get it so young or not. Not that I can do anything about it. I am still breastfeeding him so it might give him some immunity, apparently. Better they have it now while I'm on maternity leave, I guess.
DS doing fine and is very lovely. Feel a bit sad that this will be our last baby and am trying to enjoy every stage!

Well DS2 should have had 3rd jabs this week but had to take DS1 to hospital (only 3 times this week ) So he missed it, next appointment 9th of March, DS1 has 2 appointments that day but will try to squeeze jabs in too.
Bean know how you are feeling, trying to juggle needs of 3 is starting to get me down, DS2 is definately a stay at home boy and screams all the time in the car or buggy, me and the other 2 go stir crazy in the house, seems like my trips out at the moment involve taking DS1 to school or hospital - the glamorous life of a stay at home mum, a class of 16 year olds is starting to sound appealing

beansprout - i know what you mean by everything gets on top of you as i have days like that and i ended getting angry with myself but DP has to calm me down....but you should look back and see yourself as a proud mother to your proud baba

also the reason why ive bought baba a walker coz one day DP passed baba over to me and baba was walking steps.. so we thought "Hmmm, she shouldnt be doing that as she is too young" and she was 8 weeks old, so we thought it must be the flexes.. but since that day, she stand her up and she knows what to so with her legs of knowing how to walk steps so i thought ill get a walker and she loves it....2 weeks ago she found her "hands" and is amazed by them

biglips · 13/02/2005 10:13

(baba's walker got a stopper and it lifts the walker up abit so she is not heavy on her legs and she doesnt move as much)

Well ds is doing really well on the sleeping front he is managing to go all night without any feeds.

I spoke to hv today as i was a bit worried that he was sleeping too long overnight but she has reassured me that its fine.

Ds is getting on ok with the baby rice only habing a little bit each day but his milk intake has really gone down. He is still putting on weight but not as much as usual. Hope it will pick up as this has been an issue for us in the past.

Hope everyone had a good weekend x

Ah, the varied fortunes of mumfolk. Ds fed every 2 hours last night, so I got, um, 1.5 hours each time before the next feed. I am comforting myself with the thought that it surely can't get any worse (except I know it could). Am trying to go with it though, and not pit myself against the Bean in a sleep war, as I know who will lose. And hey, he is one happy little fella today, so it can't be all bad.

Rickman sorry didn't see your thread yestaday, I probably could have done it, we can be cowards together! I have one less than you but as DS2 goes into meltdown everytime we leave the house i'm getting more and more nervous about doing so, which is totally unlike me normally I can't bear to be in the house, especially with DS1.
How are the teeth going? Will you still feed? This has never appealed to me, i've already fed DS2 longer than DS1 and DD got 2 teeth the week after I stopped feeding her, so we'll wait and see.
Bean know how you feelabout the night waking, only once last night here but that was the best for AGES.
When are we going to meet up?
One more question, then i'll shut up, what toys are your babies into? It amazes me that despite having shed loads of baby toys DS2 still goes in for snake wrestling with a long catepillar thing which was DS1's first toy

Sorry Rickman, Tuesday is my one reprieve, oldest 2 in nursery, so I will bow to DS2's preference to stay in the house!

play gym is definately the favourite in our house although he's a right wriggler and i keep finding him half way across the living room! Hope he doesnt get carpet burns on his little head!

rattles are the favourite in our house - as long as part of it fits into dd's mouth!

Report
KathH · 16/02/2005 11:51

have just found him with the playgym frame collapsed on top of him - he's not bothered in the slightest, in fact he's trying to see whether he can get the whole of the frame rammed down his mouth! (so far has only managed the dangly mirror!)

ds kind of likes rattles too and i think he likes his gym except he doesnt like lying on his back or really on his own (unless hes asleep)!

Anything he can get in his mouth. Also likes the big blue octopus, which has the standard thing-with-bell/crinkly-thing combo plus a variety of textures..... it's the size of his head so always a good comedy moment when he is trying to get it in his mouth.

Sooz! Bibi!! Good to hear from you!

BAD night here, roadworks outside, Bean keeps being sick (once with blood in, yeuch), won't sleep... I'm not even dressed yet. This is the stuff I dreaded when I was pregnant . Geogteach and Rickman - I take my hat off to you both. To even contemplate a day at Leeds Castle borders on the heroic. Tomorrow will be better, tomorrow will be better......

ds quite disinterested in toys (takes them, tries to put in mouth, drops them, isn't bothered...). nothing beats chomping on his own hand it seems. although dp reads him that hungry caterpillar book every night and he absolutely adores it, squeals with delight every time!
