QUICK QUESTION do any of you have a bumbo? and if so are they any good? i was thinking of getting one for ds4 and also the play tray that goes with it, it looks quite good for plonking him in so he can sit and watch his brothers play, he usually sits in his car seat but has gone off that, i think he finds it too reclined. sooooooo nyone got any views on them? good bad i would like to know before i spend m y money

bumbos are fab. We have one that we haven't started using quite yet, but have used them with all my charges in the past. They think it's great that they can see the world, they're pretty safe, and when they get a bit older they like having their own chair like everyone else. Also dead handy for mealtimes if you have other kids, as you can have them at the table and don't have to keep one hand on them or have eyes in the back of your head. HTH
(only drawback is they're always seen as v tasty and get chewed A LOT.)

oh right thats great, any reason why you havent used it yet? the website says from 6 weeks? ds4 is big now eighteen pounds and very sturdy, good head control etc so i think he will be fine in one and i like the idea of him being able to see better plus i can keep him nearby whilst i gert on with the washing up etc hmmm i have some vouchers for john lewis i might just use them, tho they only sell it in pink or blue will look online and see if there are any good deal around

thanks for the 'review'

i'M THINKING oops of either getting a Bumbo or one of these. I can't help you 3madboys, sorry, but I'd also like to know what others think. They look really good though.

DD loves her bumbo, she looks very pleased with herself in it. She will be able to get out of it fairly soon - kind of goes rigid and pops herself up. I use it lots but not for too long each time, she loves watching me do stuff in the kitchen.

i guess if you attach the play tray that then they wouldnt be able to get out? unless they are houdini

ooh i like the look of that one mamaglam, but its more pricey? tho you get the tray and toy with it i guess and the little mats.

but i think even with a tray i can get the bumbo for about £36 so a bit cheaper than that.

also the bumbo seems to sell on again really easily? tho people do complain about teeth marks in the bumbo, that one looks a bit more durable, hhhmmmmmmmmmm decisions, decisions....

I haven't used the bumbo for either of mine so far for the simple reason that DS was too big for it by the time he was advanced enough for it IYSWIM. I have an hysterical photo of him in a friends looking like marlon brando in apocalypse now!

DS hasn't been ready til now. I am exhausted. Just worked out that in his waking hours today DS was not feeding for 3 hours. He has sucked the life out of me today-here's hoping that this growth spurt ends soon.

no idea on bumbo - like the idea, other threads i've read on this said to buy 2nd hand on ebay or something as they don't get much use out of before they get too big for the seat.

Swimming on Tues night was wonderful, LO was wary to start with, but really chilled out the whole time and half way through decided he was enjoying it lots. Can't wait for next week's lesson!

Teething continues, dribbling for Wales. Spent journey home from shops today with friends with my finger clamped between his gums while he eventually fell asleep after chewing said finger to the bone. Have ordered an amber teething necklace of ebay to see how it works for him.
Should be in bed by now, slapped wrists to me!

We've just started using teh bumbo we've been given - it seems good but I assume it's quite tiring for them at first but good to have another view on life!
can't believe it's raining again. THe good weather is so much easier - pram covers and brollies are not good!

It just occurred to me that there will soon be a Due in March 2009 thread. Yikes!

fitnfoty where on ebay did you get your amber necklace? i have one that i got given as a present for ds2, (from green baby) ds3 now wears it, tho he has finished teething, but i am reluctant to take it off him so that ds4 can wear it as well already have sibling rivalry issues. so i want to buy another one, but green baby arent selling them at the moment.

timmy yes, I worked until 39 weeks. I knew I was only taking 4 months ML so I wanted to have as much of it as possible with the baby. I suppose it doesn't seem that soon to me as I've always had it in my head that I'd be going back in July, iyswim.

PQ you're right! Wow, it's so hard to believe that soon we'll not even be the newest March thread. I remember some March 2007 people popping into our ante-natal thread last year. They seemed so sophisticated and experienced :D

OK, I'm off to google "bumbo". Thank God for this thread. I don't appear to be very with it when it comes to baby-related things.

and klast i i also got an extra 2 hours sleep, and have bounced like tigger all day, felt great. so why like that today and not yesterday after 2 more hours? i dunno. sigh and don't get me started on my one boob bigger than other obsession....

3MB, ordered from this seller but obviously haven't got it yet so can't vouch for them. At least it's nowhere near as expensive as green baby - got a shock when i saw how much their price was when i found the brochure today! Mine was £7.99 buy it now, so if it doesn't work it's no big deal.

Hello all - I've been awol for a few days as DS and I made the big drive to Manchester to visit my parents. DS was so cute when he got home - huge grins for daddy after 3 days apart but even bigger grins for his mobile and baby einstein musical star thing (baby crack indeed skidoodle!!!)

We're off on holiday (lovely villa in mountains in Majorca) for 2 weeks tomorrow - I'm meant to be packing but DS woke me 3 times last night after a week of 6 hours + and I can't get moving.

Good news from me is that DS has finally put on a big amount of weight - 1lb in 2 weeks! I'm so proud of him (and me)

Don't think we have much hope since the current leaderboard has over 1000 votes, but who knows?

fitandfortyone I just tried to vote for your lovely boy but got this error message Do I have to be registered on site, do you think?

Oh, and I can confirm that Pascal is extremely adorable.

merryberry I definitely have one breast bigger than the other. Only really obvious when they're swinging free and on photographs. Note to self, do not let DP take any more pics of my lopsided boobs. Note to DP, you see them every night anyway.

MB- lopsided boobs here too.
And to all who are listening, Glam's little (!) Charlie is to die for. I want to eat him. On toast.

HQ- great news!! Keep going, you're doing great.
Well, we hit the 12 week mark and dd has now decided she only wants to breastfeed first thing in the morning. I am handling it so much better than I thought, probably because I had 12 weeks in my head and we did it. You should see her refuse the boob during the dreamfeed- almost amusing. What a monkey.
