I hope I manage to do this right...I'll kick everything off with a roll call if it does.

We did it! It really wasn't too bad. He actually slept until about half two which is unlike him - he usually wakes up about three times before then. We had a period of about half an hour of on off waking and crying and then he slept until just before seven!

Now that I know he can do it I feel more confident with doing the cold turkey thing.

Dareh doesn't say any words yet. Well he says dadada and mumumumum but I am not sure if he knows what he is saying. Ahh he is bored playing in the living room as he has come through the kitchen where I am!

J20 - how horrible about the hotel. Cadbury world sounds nice though!

That spider sounds horrific!

Dalrymps · 19/08/2008 09:02

Well done Stefka, sounds like you made real progress i'm sure it'll get better and better until both you and him are getting lots more sleep!
What a miserable day it is here, all misty and rainy, ah well, i'm not too bothered. I found an old yoga book and dvd so might try a bit of that when Dylan has his nap, I went on a 10 week yoga course when I was at uni and loved it so would like to get back in to it Hi to everyone, hope you all got some sleep, especially floria and choc!

Back later x

Stefka · 19/08/2008 09:06

What is everyone planning for that first birthday by the way?

Dalrymps · 19/08/2008 09:38

All i've decided so far is that i'm gonna bake some fairy cakes and invite close family round. What you gonna do?

Mine · 19/08/2008 10:45

well done skefka!! Hopefully the first night of many successful nights.

re birthday paries - DAL can you bake me some fairy cakes pls??!! I'm really bad at doing things like that

We're thinking of having a fancy dress party for babies, children and big people!!! Eren;s first birthday also is around the same time as my DH birthday, MY birthday and our wedding anniversary so we think we might just have one big silly party!!

Stefka · 19/08/2008 11:02

No clue which is why I am asking! Need some ideas!

Dalrymps · 19/08/2008 11:22

Mine - I can but not sure they'd survive the post . Sounds like you're going to have a right good old knee's up!

One things for sure, i'm going to make sure I take lots of pictures

FloriaTosca · 19/08/2008 11:45

Inzi;SO with you on the spider(yuk, yuk, yuk) thing...I hate, hate, HATE them...I have already booked my cousin to introduce Alex to the nasty, hairy, multi legged, multi eyed, creepy, scuttling critters when he is about 2ish because her kids, due to her influence, are facinated by them, not scared witless repulsed by them...
...by the way did I mention, I HATE spiders?!!!!

Dal; Enjoy your yoga, I used to do pilates and it always made me feel fabulous so know what you mean...hmmm...I wonder if I should start doing that again?[ft wanders off pandering]

Stefka; Well done on the sleep, you have all my admiration. Alexs' birthday will be on a Friday, I'm going to invite the babies from his swimming/talkfirst/bounce&rhyme/babymassage groups to the park for a lunch time, bring your own baby food, picnic if the weather is good (skin flint or what? I'll just provide cake & balloons!)...our front room if not... and I'll do a buffet for the evening for relatives visiting.

We actually had a much better night last night...he didnt wake until 1.30 and though he woke 5 times before the final 7.15 "I'm awake every one should be awake", he only demanded feeding for 3 of those and went back to sleep (when I sang to him)quickly every time.....just shows how bad the night before was that I feel that performance was "better"!!!......What I think is most frustrating was the fact that for 2 months (5 & 6mths old)we only used to wake for 1 feed at 4ish between 8pm and 6.30am...how we managed to get so far in the wrong direction from that I'll never know.

hi all - am leaping about cheering muppetgirl, dal, and stefka on for being sahm ... especially now as my proper return to work date looms large!

FT - your feelings about spiders sound like mine about birds - ugh - just typing the work makes me shudder!

Mairwen's sleep is all over the place again at the mo' - she's cutting 4 teeth on the bottom, and they are really bothering her ... last night I was up 3 times with her - and that was a real improvement on the night before, when I didn't get to sleep until 3am - in the end, I went in and asked dh to take her downstairs so I could go to bed - I was really sweet and patient with everybody yesterday, as you can probably imagine!

Should start thinking about going away next week - we're off to Tenby on Saturday for a week ... am looking forward to it!

love to all.

E x

muppetgirl · 19/08/2008 18:32

HI all

After living on a boat for 3 years (the last year mon-fri on my own) I can honestly say spiders don't really faze me. You'd be amazed at the sheer amount, frequency and different type of insects and bugs you get on a hot summers night crawling through the windows... (rememeber those??)

Well We had an okay sleep with the 2 boys in the living room in the 2 man tent. (Ollie had a sleepover last night) They were up at 5.30am and then just before breakfast Ollie came in to tell me Thomas had pooed in his camping pants (pull ups) so I asked t to come downstairs so I could take them off and clean him up. He pulled down his pyjamas -no camping pants? I asked him where they were and he said 'In the tent' We then went upstairs, he got the pants and then Ollie handed me something and said 'I think this is some of Thomas' poo.....

Thomas then threw up at breakfast and then again into the downstairs loo

...we won't be having a sleepover for a while

Re Henry's party he's a Nov 5th boy so it's always going to be a struggle to find something when people aren't doing something for fireworks night and halloween so we are going to have a halloween party for Ollie and his mates and invite some babies along too. We are clearing dh out of the dinning room ready for it to be re floored and decorated so I think it's the perfect opportunity to have a party -empty room that is going to be decorated. We are going to have a search for 'Oliver's naughty ghost' around the house with no lights on and the kids just have to bring torches. Jellied spiders (Floria/Inzi -fingers in ears!) apple bobbing, a treasure hunt for sweets hidden on the green outside our house and other spooky games.

Stefka · 20/08/2008 07:22

Morning all.

Well last night was a bit harder. He did sleep through until half one again though which is great progress. Had two bad wake ups but didn't feed him and he was back asleep within fifteen minutes. It just seems a long time in the middle of the night! Then he started the day at 6:20 but I can handle that if he starts to sleep through.

I feel a bit ikky today. Ate like a pig yesterday so now I feel bad! Being a woman is crap sometimes.

Dalrymps · 20/08/2008 09:40

Morning Stefka - Well done on battling on with the sleep, you'll get there i'm sure!
Sorry you're feeling ikky, I don't seem to be able to stop eating chocolate bars, even though I want to lose weight?!
I go through stages of doing that though and then talk myself round and manage to be sensible for a while. I'm sure a day of eating like a pig now and again is good for you, I certainly enjoy it anyway

Just thought i'd let you all know that I have pregnancy paranoia at the moment, we got jiggy a few days after my AF and before using protection we 'dipped' it in a few times . Now I know that you're supposed to ovulate in the middle of your cycle so it's very unlikely but my breasts feel a little bit bigger and i've been getting occasional, very subtle waves of feeling sick. Will keep you updated, my next AF is due 2nd sept.

Hope everyone's ok today

Oh no Inzi! I often do the same as I also heard that it was good for them to go around without shoes and socks on so don't feel bad - you didn't know that was going to happen.

Dareh is not crawling yet, he just goes commando style everywhere.

Wow Dal how do you feel about possibly being preggers again? It would be too soon for me - I am still in shock from the first time! My period hasn't returned yet anyway. My aunt thought I was pregnant yesterday because I felt ill but I had just done too much at the gym. Not sure she believed me. I am not ready for another bambino yet - maybe I will think about it next summer.

Inzi - I leave Dylans socks and shoes off all the time, sometimes I put socks on but usually just if it's a bit chilly, you wern't to know that would happen. They're stronger than we think anyway, i'm sure she'll be fine in no time.

Stefka - I would feel totally fine about it, not too soon physically or emotioinally but the reasons I was going to leave it till jan would make it slighlty irritating but not enough to actually be bothered. Ideally I wanted the bathroom and kitchen finished and also fancied having a slightly bigger age gap, eg: at least 20 months. What i'm trying to say is, I would be incredibly happy and excited about it but if i'm not i'd be ok with leaving it a few months just for convienience

Dylan is commando crawling everywhere still too, he was rocking on his knees and elbows yesterday occasionally so hopefully he'll get the hang of proper crawling soon

Dalrymps · 20/08/2008 10:21

Oh inzi - glad you're not bleeding like that anymore, must have been tiring and awful to deal with. I had to have toast yesterday night too!

Dalrymps · 20/08/2008 11:02

Glad you feel better now inzi . Janes feet will be back to normal in no time, maybe put some savlon on before she goes to bed, that stuff is magic!
I can't believe HR still haven't called you, what a f*ing cheek , hope they call you now you've demanded they do again.

Stefka · 20/08/2008 11:13

They are so bloody rude Inzi - can't believe the way they are treating you.

I have had some cramping but no period. The dr was a wee bit concerned but I am still breast feeding so I put it down to that.

I am not even dressed yet.

Dalrymps · 20/08/2008 11:20

I often don't get dressed till lunch time, don't sweat it Stefka. I've lost count of the amount of times the post woman has seen me in mt dressing gown, she must think I live in it

FloriaTosca · 20/08/2008 11:44

Inzi; I'm sure Janes feet will recover in no time...actually you were absolutely right, it is supposed to be better for them to learn walk barefoot as much as possible for foot growth and developmental reasons. I'm sure if you just use socks when she is on the laminate it will be enough to prevent friction burns. Though Alex has been walking for 10 weeks now he only got his first pair of shoes last week (Pedipeds; supposed to be the next best thing to bare feet)and I only put them on when we go out because he now wants to walk round the shops rather than sit in his buggy .{angry] at your HR department for you..perhaps they are having to double check their facts? [grasping at straws emoticon]

Dal; wouldn't it be wonderful? I'm if you are...One of the mums at our Talkfirst class is a doctor whose Oct. DD was conceived while she had a coil in!!!(it had apparently slipped out of position)I keep dreaming of a similar mishap happening to me

Stefka; well done for toughing it out last night...I hope things really start improving for you from now on. Wow on the no AF yet! I'm bfing and af is all over the place but I'm still getting them

Crochet;lol at your "sweet and patient" mood on Monday I'm so with you on that one it is frightening! I hope Mairwens teeth come through quickly for you...and her too of course.

Muppet; ROFL at the sleepover/camping pant incidents...I'll bet there wont be more sleepovers for a while. OMG I just can't wait for that stage![not!] Also LOL at Ollies "naughty ghost"..I reckon Alex will have one of those soon!
