Inzi; Well done!!!! You brave, brave girl!!!! You have made the first, huge step to the new you and you have all my admiration. If it is any consolation you are actually 1 lb lighter than I was when I joined Slimming World 8 yrs ago , but I never got down to a 10st size 8, my best was 12st10lb size 12top14bottom, which is what I was when I met DH 6 yrs ago and also when I married him 4 yrs ago. 1 honeymoon and 1 stone on later and I was on the slippery slope againI said I wouldnt do this.. but your bravery must be inspiring (or something)but by Jan 2007 (bfp with Alex) I was 16st 4lb..I got back to that quite quickly after having him (probably bfing)but I havent concentrated enough on what I'm eating to lose anymore since so perhaps it is time I knuckled down and joined you. One word of advice if you dont mind me butting in, SW say 1-1.5lb per week is an average weight loss...1 lb per week is 4st in a year!...though losing a lot in the first few weeks is usual dont set your expectations of yourself too high...it took me just 6 months to lose the 1st 3 stones but another 3 months to lose the last stone and a half (and I was excersising 5x a week!)
Alex frettign...got to go

Inzi - well done to Jane eating so nicely at Pizza Hut. Of course feel free to keep us updated on weight - good luck with it!

FT - what did doc say about Alex's pee? You might find it's just the warm weather or something making him unsettled.

Anya slept loads today - not surprising. She's now discovered the joys of standing up ! She still won't sit down, she just arches her back until you let her either lie down or stand up.

Off to the genetics clinic tomorrow, just for a follow-up.

Hi to everybody

Thanks for asking, Alexs pee tested ok thank heavens..I had to weigh nappies and measure wee from potty for 12 hours and make sure he drank lots of water..his out-put definately increased through the day...though he reduced his bf as he was obviously not thirsty with all that waterso I'm not keeping it up tomorrow too, as he needs the calories too...looks like I'll just have to find a happy balance. Bed beckons after such a sleepless night last night. ...night all..

Inzi-how brave of you to put your weight, we will be with you every step of the way, i must say, in you're pics you look great!

anyasmum-hope everything goes ok today

FT-hows Alex today? glad he's drinking enough, is he maybe off it with the weather? Shannon has been i think, plus her bloody teething.

i'm on my way out to college to do a skills test to see which level i need to start to do my AAT in September, so will try to catch up properly later, hope you're all ok, sorry for missing people out, have a great day!!

J20; Thanks for asking, Alex is great this morning...I'm now an officionado of how much a wet nappy should weigh...yesterday mornings was only 6g heavier than a dry one..this mornings was 130g heavier! I think things are back on track again thank heavens. It probably was the weather as you and Anyasmum said.I hope Shannons teeth come through soon for your sake as well as hers.

Our news, if there is any, is that Alex is now eating better again (half a peach, half a banana, a slice of french toast and a pot of fromage frais for breakfast this morning..big improvement on 2 teaspoons of porrige and half an hour of food refusal)His walking has taken a bit of a backward step(thank heavens)as I think his launching himself off into the wild blue yonder without warning has resulted in a few too many falls as far as he is concerned...so he seems to have reverted to the more normal method of waiting until 2 adults are on hand and using their fingers to go from one to the other...much safer (for all concerned!)but he has discovered his temperand loses it when the adults get bored of playing his walking game.
Right, must stop mning and go hang the washing out

Well just back from the genetics clinic. They were very pleased with her - confirmed all her test results were good and that developmentally she's doing well. Did measurements again - she's dropped off the bottom of the normal chart now but she's still above average on her new chart . We've still got to be careful with a few things - the curve at the bottom of her spine means that we need to keep making sure her back's well supported so that it will straighten more easily when she starts walking. Also we still can't let her do a whole bunch of things that put any weird forces on her neck - although there's no spinal damage the spine is narrower and constructed differently - so no bouncing , and even when she's older no trampolines, no skiing, no contact sports, no gymnastics - probably more but we'll have to get a list from somewhere. Feel a bit down about it - it feels really mean not letting her do stuff - though I'm sure it'll bother me more than it ever bothers her.

Anyway, we have a referral to the occupational therapists who will make sure her posture's ok and help us with her physical development.

FT - glad Alex is better.

J2O · 11/06/2008 15:58

Inzi-that was another thing i meant to mention that should be taken intop consideration, what is you're ideal weight?

FT-so glad Alex is back to his normal self at his temper, Shannons got a right temper and is pretty bossy, thinks she's queen of this household, she does

Anyasmum-its great news they where so pleased with her, and try looking at it as in she'll be able to do stuff like swimming and other extra curricular activities, like musical instruments, and if she can't do things, like trampolining..etc then she'll be more likely to stick to whatever she can do and maybe excell at them iyswim, take it from having a child that has done drama, ice skating, swimming, choir, recorders, netball, gymnastics, cheerleading....and she got bored of all of them, it may not be such a bad thing

news from me, i did the skills test, bearing in mind, i last did accounts 3 years ago, I had no bloody idea! I got 58% and it said if you get under 60% start on level 2, but i think its borderline, so hopefully the tutor shall ring tommorrow and tell me to start on level 3!

muppetgirl · 11/06/2008 18:29

HI all

Thanks for what you all said re the depression piece. I love writing and would love to write for a living, I just don't really have anything to write about as I'm crap at making up stories!! Ho hum....

Anyasmum - {smile} and for you at the same time. J20's right in that although there is a list of what Anya can't do there is an equally long list of things she can but it is hard as a parent being told your child can't do a certain thing, especially when they are so young.

J20 - hope you get onto level 2! Brilliant that you're going back to college though x

Floria - Glad Alex is on the mend and I'm chuffed to finally have an authority on how heavy nappies should be that I can consult with, should the need arise seriously though, very glad Alex is on the mend.

Inzi - How's Bob???? Good for you for taking the bull by the horns and posting your weight. Are we all going to have weekly weigh ins? Can I join in with how long I can run?? 5 mins this week -not a lot I know but far better than I could do 5 weeks ago!

Well Henry moved in his cot last night as he was out of his growbag. WOOOHHOOOOO! I told dh to go and take a look at him when he came in as H was so funny. He'd rolled onto his side and got both his legs stuck through the bars of the cot and then promptly fell asleep! Very cute, would have taken a photo if it wouldn't have woken him up. He was sideways in his cot this morning so at least he's on the move.

I am watching Ollie's ballet lesson tomorrow -are going to film it as I'm sure it's going to be an experience! Ollie, doing ballet?????? (they have to at school till yr2) Then on fri morning he is the hungry caterpillar in the nursery's assembly. ('I'm the caterpilla? then I'm gunna be a butterfly mummy') Yes, I will be the mummy crying with pride in the corner...

Hope you all had a good day
x

J2O - so close! Hope you get onto level 3.

Thanks for comments about Anya - I have felt quite upset this afternoon. It didn't help that the genetics doctor suggested I check out the restricted growth association website, which I've looked at before - she thought they might have a proper list of what Anya shouldn't do. They didn't (I've actually found it elsewhere and it's only about 5 things) - but I was browsing it and found photos of other affected people - mainly teenagers/young adults. I don't know why I look at stuff like that because it always upsets me - I've got years to get used to how Anya's going to look and it's such a shock when I suddenly see forward a few years without having those years to get used to it (does that make sense?). Anyway, there's a programme on Virgin tonight about dwarfism so I'm recording that (it clashes with the Apprentice) - I might have to watch it in tiny tiny chunks.

Got to go
x

AnyasMum07 · 11/06/2008 22:04

Sorry for that rambling.

Muppet - glad Henry's on the move.

Inzi - well done dh!

Hope everybody gets a good night's sleep.

FloriaTosca · 11/06/2008 23:07

Just a quick post before bed.
Anyasmum;((((BIG HUGS)))).I'm sorry the consultant upset you...you dont need me to tell you that Anya is Anya,a wonderful (big)character in her own right, not a genetic condition and when she is a teenager/grown up you won't see her as anything other than "her" and she will excell in so many things that she wont even notice she has a few restrictions put on her...hang on in there honey...and dont appologise for "rambling" this is exactly what we are all here for each other for.

...right I'm off to bed..late again...and his lordship may be feeling better and eating properly again but doesnt seem to have made the least difference to his bad sleeping habits. G'night all.

J2O · 12/06/2008 06:30

morning all

what a crappy night we've had, ttething and now also cold so she cant breathe through her nose, so can't suck her dummy, cue non stop sobbing, ohg choc-how on earth do you do it!! am trying to bring myself to use the snot sucker that alice sent me! maybe in a bit.

inzi-thats so sweet of dh, you're both just a pair of softies.

Anyasmum{{{{hugs}}}} ft is right, i hope you're feeling a bit better today

oh she's fallen asleep, shall i go back to bed for an hour, oh no, dd1 is getting up, grrrr

FloriaTosca · 12/06/2008 08:02

J20(((hugs))) deep sympathy...we had identical nights(except for the dummy bit..he doesnt have one)I do have a snot sucker but couldnt find it in the dark, got it at 5am when the sun came up and he was still whinging (I think he has a sore throat too)and once he had stopped screaming over the indignity of me using it we got a solid hours sleep..we have just now spent half an hour in the shower (cold bathroom+warm water=lots of steam!) and he seems a lot happier...well he's doing his impression of the crazy frog revving up so he sounds happier. Pluck up the courage and use the sucker, if it is the same as mine it has a filter in it to stop the snot coming all the way up the tube so you wont get any ..however if it is like mine it'll block up easily so I have a bowl of water to wash it out with on hand {cue image of FT sucking and blowing the tube in water like a kid blowing bubbles through a straw...but with bogies!}Lets hope our days improve, eh?
OOps sounds like he needs his potty...got to go

Morning all - am feeling a bit better today, thanks for the sympathy. I think part of my upset yesterday was the fact that last time we were at that clinic it was to get her diagnosis so it brought all that back. But I even managed to watch 5 mins of last night's programme this morning without getting upset. It's a bit weird - on the one hand it helps to see other dwarfs (I hate writing that word but I'm going to have to get used to it!) doing normal things but on the other hand it always comes as a bit of a shock to see them. But you're right FT - although she's more clearly got little arms and legs now, how she is at the moment doesn't bother me at all - so hopefully that will stay true as she grows up.

J2O & FT - sorry you had such crap nights. Hope you both manage to get some sleep today and that Jane's/Alex's colds are better.

Inzi - lol at cat eating cactus!

pondering · 12/06/2008 23:22

oh crap, I namechanged earlier but never used the new name for intended purpose and forgot to change back... It's me, Dalrymps

Dalrymps · 13/06/2008 11:29

I'm back again, where is everyone???

Dalrymps · 13/06/2008 13:10

Would take me too long to catch up with all the posts as i've got to go out shortly to get dh a fathers day present but just wanted to quickly say
Anyasmum (((hugs))), everyone else has kind of said what I want to say already but just wanted to say glad you're feeling a little better and that you've managed to watch a bit of that program without getti upset. The main thing is that regardless of any diagnosis Anya is her very own individual little person as you well know and she always will be , she's absolutely gorgeous by the way, dh and I were looking at her pics on facebook, shes soooo sweet.

Well, my news for today is that I changed my name yesterday because my AF was late and I thought I was pg but it's arrived today and i'm not so all is ok. To be honest, i'm very excited about number 2 but not the best time to do it just yet.
Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, chat soon when i've got more time
