OMG - news just in - Charlotte Church is having another one!!!! Bless her. Lovely Charl! Thought you ladies should be the first to know!!

Anyone else watching BB, or are we taking the moral high-ground on this series? Personally, I'm sucked in already. Can't say I've really taken to any of the housemates yet.

Just ordered myself a couple of bf'ing bras from Figleaves. Hope one of them fits! I was hoping I could hold out and manage with the two I've got, but the white one has gone totally disgusting, grey and bobbly and I've got my sister's wedding next weekend and don't want gross grey bra straps making an appearance. So I've spent yet more money I don't have...

Any ideas on where we might go on a short camping trip? Dh wants hedgerows, pretty villages, pram-friendly walking and real ale. I'm open to suggestions. We were thinking Dorset - down Swanage way - or the Peak District. Suggestions welcome . Have any of you actually camped with a baby?

Oh, heck look at the time.

Take care all, night night, A xxx

crochetdiva · 20/06/2008 11:04

hi all ... haven't had time to breathe this week!

yllp - at CC - but all power to her elbow - can't think of anything worse than being pg again, but she's a lot younger then me, so will be able to take it better!

As for campsites, my favourite by far, is Wiseman's Bridge - the campsite is close to the beach, and the pub, which not only does good beer, but also great food! You can walk through to Saundersfoot through the tunnel - completely pram friendly. I realise it's not in either of the locations you suggested, but it's my favourite!

muppetgirl - I have to admit that I'm wishing Mairwen was just a little less busy ... she has now fallen down the step into the kitchen (only once though, she learns quickly ), and has slammed her fingers in the shoe drawer [bad mother]

We've had a busy couple of days ... Rhydian had sports' day yesterday - it was very windy - his school is on the highest point in Penarth, and you can see across to tghe Beacons on a clear day - a tad exposed! He had an utter disaster though in his race - he was slow starting for some reason, and then he was trying so hard to catch up that he tripped, and went absolutely flying ... fair play to him though, he got back up and finished the race - despite being in floods of tears - I was soooo proud of him for finishing it though!

This morning was nicer, we went to his school assembly - and discovered that he actually had the main part ... he was fantastic, I was such a proud mammy!

Good news from me too - I passed my Welsh exam hwre! I got 94% ... I am well chuffed, and have decided to go to the Eisteddfod to collect my certificate - because I can!

Have a good weekend all!

Dalrymps · 20/06/2008 11:07

Wow thats pretty soon Charlotte having another, weird cause we were preggers with her, was sept she had the last one wasn't it? Even though I couldn't cope with having another lo now (even though I almost did ) I'm still of her.
Been watching BB on and off and as usual, even though I said I wouldn't i'm already getting sucked in. Thought it was good last night when they chucked alexandra out (is that even her name?!) and I quite like the one who loves cookies, can't remember her name either, is it Kat?
I haven't been camping with a baby but good on you for being brave enough! In fact i've never been camping so haven't really got any suggestions on where to go, hope you find somewhere nice
I also really need some new bras, am back in my pre preg ones but my boobs are a totally different shape in them?! Has anyone else found that?
Anyway off to look on ebay for now, hi to everyone, chat soon x

crochetdiva · 20/06/2008 11:14

I've been into bb every year, but as we were on hols this time when it started, and have been going to bed absurdly early, I haven't actually seen any of it this time around!

Glad they've chucked Alex out though - she sounded appalling!

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 20/06/2008 12:13

Crochet - well done to you for your exam, and to Rhydian for his assembly and brave effort at sports day.

Haven't watched any bb, or been camping (with or without baby).

I'm enjoying being lazy at the moment - now work is sorted out I don't have much to do for the next 3 weeks. Should get organised really and fill my time with interesting stuff. Hmmm, maybe next week...

muppetgirl · 20/06/2008 12:16

hi all

cc being prgt...good luck to her I am still widly fluctuating between as YES I WANT ONE NOW and a 'we're never doing that again' kind of feeling.

Al sat here sweatily typing as I've just got back from my exercise sesh and have done 10 ins on the stairs and then 5 x 6mins (with a break of 1 min in between) so I did a total of 40 mins today non stop running/up and down the stairs. I am soooooo sweaty but mightily chuffed with myself.

Ollie's part of the school (nursery + pre-prep) was inspected last week (no one knew apart from the staff) and the were graded as oustanding so that's fab news. Let's hope they can sort out the prep part before Ollie gets there! (they got satifactory with some unsatisfactory lessons + Planning )

am off for a shower before the keyboard starts to smell

muppetgirl · 20/06/2008 12:17

crochet -so sorry well done on your exam, I am so proud of you you wonderful thing xxxxx

Apricotle · 20/06/2008 15:20

Crochet - 94% - well done! clever you! thanks for the campsite tip. If not this time, we may well pop down there one day.

Muppet - I wish I could muster the energy to run up and down the stairs. I know I'd feel better for it. Good on you! I'm getting lots of walking exercise, and of necessity lots of it is uphill, but I havne't got round to any other form of exercise yet.

Dal - yes, boobs after baby and bf definitely never quite the same again!

Well, I've a wee poorly boy asleep on my lap as I type. Huw's got a nasty cold - runny, runny nose, watery gooey eyes, the works. He's not been sleeping well this week (probably cos he's feeling rotten) and he seems to be catching up today - two sleeps so far from a boy who usually takes brief catnaps but no more in the day. I don't want to move him cos he's sure to wake, but I'm running out of things to do on the computer !

ChocolateHobnob · 20/06/2008 16:13

Hello everyone! Long time no type and lots to read...

CONGRATULATIONS Crochet! 94%. Wow. I never give students that...

Bon courage YLLP with the camping. I havent camped since I was a kid and I was hopeless at it...

Not going to try to remember what everyone said cos it's been too long, other than Floria, fab summary, and Muppet, your energy puts me to shame! And Henry on the move-fab!

I am not watching BB. This is not because I have become grown up and sensible but more because I go to bed at nine o'clock mainly. Sad as this may sound, I get very little sleep and have to maximise it. I suppose I've long lost a semblance of an evening life!

We haven't exchanged. Was meant to happen Wednesday but there was a problem with fund transfer in another part of the chain. Then Thursday a solicitor was off and today another one is. Monday is pencilled in now... and completion for next Thurs...but will it happen? who knows. It is incredibly stressful; it makes me feel sick. Or maybe I feel sick cos I've been to a friend's for lunch and had too many scones with clotted cream. I feel like a stuffed goose.

OK, R calling me now. More soon, hugs all.

PS - Saw Alice on Weds - her mum is here - she was fine.

FloriaTosca · 20/06/2008 22:35

congratulations crotchet!!!! I hope you are justifiably proud of yourself. Poor Rhydian falling but well done him for getting up and soldiering on and for doing so well in his school assembly. Totally understand the wishing the lo wasnt so busy, Alex has me run ragged finding all the dangerous things I had never noticed in our house

YLLP; Let us know how it goes with the camping, we are (with trepidation)considering getting the tent out for the Aug bank holiday..the last site I remember really loving (with a caravan) was in Canterbury so no where near where you want to go,sorry not to be of more help

WWAJC; you enjoy your last weeks of freedom, you have earned them.

Muppet; your work out puts me to shame..well done you.Glad H is getting mobile...dont wish him doing much more too soon, you will need all the stamina building step fitness to keep up...(I wish I had got myself fit again sooner)

Choc; So sorry the exchanges aren't going smoothly, its the last thing you need on top of your sleep deprivation...fingers crossed it happens soon and thanks for keeping us posted about Alicet

Apricot; so sorry poor little Huw is ill. Hope he is over the worst soon

Inzi; Well done on losing 2 lb (I told you it would add up to 4st in a year)I unfortunately gained 1.5lb just after posting last week but managed to lose it again this week so am still the same as when we started. Hope you manage to keep up the good work this coming week.

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 20/06/2008 23:10

Crochet - Well done you!!! What a smartie pants [grin. I feel for Rhydian falling over during the race, just the kind of thing that used to happen to me, he's very brave for finishing though. Bet you were so proud watching him in assembily too
WWAJC - enjoy relaxing, do exactly what you want to do, even if thats nothing at all
Muppet - I too fluctuate between 2 feelings with regards to more babies 'lets get pregnant now' and 'I really must wait until Dylan is at least 18 months old and I have my figure back so I can ruin it all over again'. You sound like you're doing really well with the excercising, I've considered the stair thing myself but worry I just trip and fall down them knowing me!
Apricot - Sorry to hear Huw is ill, hope he catches up on his sleep and feels better soon.
Choc - How annoying you're having so much stress over the house, We had all this a year ago, awful. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you that by thurs it will all be done and dusted and you can breathe a big sigh of relief. Thanks for the alice update.
Floria - hope you're not too tired after all the running around after alex, thankfully i'm not at that stage quite yet as Dylan can't crawl yet, can't sit either, anyone elses lo only got to the rolling stage? Well done on loosing the 1.5lb you gained, it's better than gaining more and at least you're going in the right direction! Oh, and I knew i'd heard that 4st in a year thing somewhere but didn't realise i'd just stolen it from you so sorry for my fact stealing .
Well, i've received my appointment through to see the arse consultant in Newcastle on Tues. It's basically a referral to check everything is ok 'up there' after my 3rd degree tear. I got an information leaflet telling me they basically put lots of different types of probes up there to measure different things. Needless to say i am not looking forward to it AT ALL. I do have a choce in whether I go or not but I think it's my chance to find out what the risks are for delivering any further lo's and I kind of want to know what the situation is regarding that so even though i've had no problems down there of late i'm going to force myself to go... oh the things we have to do. Anyone else been for anything like this????
Oh look at the time, must get off to bed. Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned and chat soon

LisaLessLumpy · 21/06/2008 18:38

Hello everyone, I'm back

alicet · 21/06/2008 19:55

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Just wrote f*cking long message and compute crashed!

No timt to repeat now as mum and dad are here but wanted to say I'm thinking of you and I'll be back soon xxxxxxxxxxxx

muppetgirl · 21/06/2008 20:11

hi all

A bit worried about Ollie as he has had diahorreah on and off since a bout of it 5-6 weeks ago. Not been right since but not been ill...then 4 weeks ago he was extremely tired and weepy, almost hormonal we thought. Then 2 weeks ago he developed a rash all over his body like sandpaper with flushed cheeks -like a clown's make up, 2 red circles that peel - and very sore lips all which fluctuate in intensity from day to day. (the rash has been a constant though) took him to the drs on Fri. but got to see a nurse (he saw the nurse at school a week ago who thought it could be slapped cheek but then not) who didn't know what it was but remembered there was some illness associated with a sandpaper rash...She checked his throat, tongue and neck glands -which were like solid lumps ([ I am a bad mum, I never noticed]

She called in a dr for a 2nd opinion who looked at his cheeks and then said 'dermatitis' it will go soon, don't know when, come back if it doesn't go. I asked how long as he's had it a fair while and he said he didn?t know. I asked about the swollen glands and he said that that can happen with dermatitis. The nurse didn?t seem impressed and asked if I would like another opinion, I said yes and she tried to find another Dr but he was busy so she prescribed emollient for his bath and a cream called doublebase to put on. She said to come back early next week if things hadn't improved.

Ollie has had diahorreah again and still seems overly emotional and I'm beginning to get quite worried.

Anyone got any advice/suggestions at all?

Dalrymps · 21/06/2008 21:27

Muppet - Sorry Ollie is under the weather It doesn't really sound like dermatitis to me unless it's that plus something else but don't ask me cause i'm not a doctor and am probably wrong. The only thing I do know is that you know him best and if you feel he's not been diagnosed properly and he's not right then I would get a second oppinion. Have you tried ringing NHS direct? They're nice and can advise you over the phone to a certain extent, number is 0845 4647, theres a website too Here , maybe you could get some help/info from it... Sorry I can't be more helpfull than that ((hugs))
LLL -welcome back
Alicet - bummer the computer crashed, hope you're having a nice weekend, chat soon!
Hi to everyone else, must get back to BB back soon

FloriaTosca · 22/06/2008 00:34

Awww Muppet;Poor OllieI didnt think dermatitis gave you swollen glands and an upset tummyIf you are concerned you should definately get another opinion. Do you gave a drop in clinic nearby?
On the subject of health; does anyone know the incubation period for German Measles?...our friends 11 mth old who had chickenpox just a few months ago has now got it, we were at a party together last Saturday so I need to know how long I have to watch for symptoms and avoid being in the company of pg women
Just left Alex with mil and fil tonight for the first time so Dh and I could go to the cinema (for the first time since last August)...he took an age to settle but fortunately slept solidly for the whole 2 hrs we were out [phew emoticon]It was nice to get some "us" time for a change. (Alex has inbuilt 'parents are getting amorous' radar and obviously dissaproves Dont know why I bothered getting an iud; we dont need any other form of contraception than Alex!)

muppetgirl · 22/06/2008 09:49

Good morning all!

Ollie still has the rash but his face is looking alittle better just very dry so I think the cream could be working. If there's no improvement on his yummy then I'll take him to the drs on tuesday. He's just not 'right' at the mo -do you know what I mean?

I went for a run at 7.30 this morning (I am being smug but still proud that I'm still motivated) after 10 mins on the stairs and then finished with holding press up position but resting on forearms for 45 secs x2. Not as knackered as fri so an improvement. Am going to try to go out on wed eve but that depends on what time dh gets home.

We have found a girlie to help me with the kids on mon eve so I can go to college. SHe's a friends daughter and is 17 and very responsible. She can also do babysitting so dh and I are going to start going out a bit more (well, actually for us to go out would be good!) I'm glad you had a good time Floria and that Alex was a good boy for your Il's.

Alice - sorry the computer crashed it's such a shite when that happens. Liked your other thread and totally agreed with you!

Dal - really glad to hear you're feeling a little better.

Whoever was asking about camping we are off this year as we bought a tent 2 years ago but haven't actually been out of the road with it. -Dh and I tried to put it up on the green outside our house but after much 'discussion' about the best way to do it, dh snapped a pole (! -even the man in the shop said he's never heard of anyone snapping that pole before!!) and a neigbour adding a running commentry to the proceedings we packed it up and it's stayed in the garage ever since

Speak later

Wow! well done inzi, thats great, so nearly half a stone in 2 weeks. I've lost 3lb this week so thats a total of 8lb but thats over several weeks. I had a treat day yesterday where I stuffed my face, have one every sunday to stop me falling off the wagon through the week. Have to say though I ate too much and went to bed uncomfortably full so will be a bit more tame next sunday. Off to give Dylan breakfast so hello to everyone elso, might be back later

strawberrylace · 23/06/2008 11:12

Hello everyone!

Well, mad week is over now, but everything went well. DS had his 8 month check and was 20lb 12oz at 36 weeks, so up near 75 centile, when he used to be on 25 centile - his head measured quite small in comparison tho! he is doing well on all other measures - crawling like a mad thing now and pulling himself up on furniture - he is fast asleep at the moment, so i can have a cup of tea in peace.
Its his first swimming 'lesson' tomorrow, and we have a few meet ups planned, but a bit less frantic this week

Inzi/Dal - well done on the weight loss
Crochet - excellent result on the welsh test
Muppet - i hope Ollie's rash is clearing up
Floria - glad alex behaved himself for your PILs; we left DS with a mum friend on Sat eve to go to SIL's wedding meal, and he was well behaved too, so a big phew here too!
Choc - fingers crossed for house things going ok this week
hello to everyone else!

Apricotle · 23/06/2008 16:03

Hi everyone

WE've been properly struck by the lurgy - Huw and I, that is. We both have stinking colds and are currently feeling very sorry for ourselves, though we show it in different ways ! Because he has a cold, he's not been sleeping well, and I suspect lack of sleep may be why I have succumbed too. Anyway, hope we both get better quickly, we're going to Leeds on Friday for my sister's wedding at the weekend.

Muppet - am v impressed wtih exercise regime - you are rightly smug, enjoy it!! Like the stroy of the tent ! It was me asking about camping. We're thinking of going to Dorset for a few days. Nothing too adventurous. - hope Ollie gets better soon. It does sound like it might be agood idea to get a second opinion. Poor little love.

Alice - Hi again, bummer re the post. I hate that.

Inzi and Dal - well done losing weight. I'm pleased with self on that front too, though must confess, not through any effort except walking a lot and breastfeeding, but I am fitting into another pair of pre-pregancy trousers - still can't wear the majority of my clothes, but glad there's progress.

And Dal, hope all goes ok at your appointment, and it's not too bad for you. I sometimes think I ought to have got myself checked out down there after I had ds, but never got round to it.

Floria - glad you had time out. What did you see at the cimena? We watched A Beautiful Mind this weekend - I love that film - love Russell Crowe.

I went for an eye check the other day and descibed an episode I experienced recently and teh optician was pretty sure it was a migraine. I had no idea you could get a migraine without a headache. Must look them up and ifnd out more. Tho will no doubt regret it if I do!

Right, gotta go.

Take care all

A xx

Apricotle · 23/06/2008 16:05

oh, and meant to say Strawberry, hope you enjoy the swimming

ChocolateHobnob · 24/06/2008 16:14

What a profound relief.

Hugs to everyone!

LisaLessLumpy · 24/06/2008 16:20

Congrats

Great news Choc!

Just popping on to catch up - my parents have been over since Wed so no chance before now. Tried a few days ago and computer crashed!!! So just saying a quick hello before I go and catch up so that you all know I'm still alive!

Back later hopefully or if I don't manage that def tomorrow as dh is away and have a very lazy evening planned!
