I hope I manage to do this right...I'll kick everything off with a roll call if it does.

Sam got stung by a wasp yesterday he was playing in his 'den' that we had made out of the sofa cushions and blanket in the lounge, when he suddenly started screaming, I whipped off the blanket and he pointed to the wasp on the floor, I made doubly sure the b'stard was dead with my flip flop then tried to sort him out. I have never heard sam cry so much it broke my heart, I know how horrible wasp stings can be. It took nearly an hour to calm him down, I think the medised did it in the end Poor thing is now going to be terrified every time he sees a wasp.

Ben is still doing really well he has figured out how to get onto his front from sitting and I have seen him trying to go back too, but he's not there yet. He's still not mastered proper crawling but he can drag himself across the floor commando style and do a pretty mean 360 degree circle in record time He got his third tooth on the 1st August (at the top) and the other one isn't far behind - I'm sorry to rub it in but they don't seem to have bothered him at all. He is eating well, down to three bottles and he is eating very textured to small chunks of food now. Still not bothered about finger food other than toast though.

Hope all you ladies are well

Dalrymps · 05/08/2008 10:01

LLL - Sorry Sam got stung, how awful for him, i'm terrified of wasps yet have never been stung by one yet (probably because everytime one comes near me I do a stupid dance and run away).

The other day we were about to get in thecar when a wasp landed on my arm , I blew it off but it procede to harass dh, it kept flying round and round him and occasionally landing on him for what seemed like ages. I was starting to panick a bit that this wasp had it in for us when it flew at my head then I swatted it with my handbag and it finally flew off! Argh what a nightmare.

Sounds like Ben is doing really well and progressing really quickly.

I hope Dylan gets a tooth soon, I can't wait to see what he looks like with one

Dalrymps · 05/08/2008 14:16

Where is everyone today , ah well, i'm off for a nap after my disturbed nights sleep checking on Dylan and generally being too hot and having an itchy rash on my neck!

Mine · 05/08/2008 15:31

ohhh wasp stinks are horrible

where is everyone today??

I don;t have much on today.... am feeling very bored and claustrophobic.

I have an exercise class to go to tonight, but am already feeling like i can;t be bothered
I need a good kick up to bottom!

Mine · 05/08/2008 15:33

i really need to spell check!

FloriaTosca · 05/08/2008 16:31

Mine;some spelling mistakes are just too good to correct.
Dal;I hope Dylan is better today and you get to catch up on your sleep. ROFL at you doing the "stupid dance" in the presence of a wasp!!
Crochet; congratulations on 12yrs of marriage yesterday..hope you had a lovely anniversary.
LLL;Poor Sam, wasps are such evil b*stards...I'm a bit allergic to them and so avoid them like the plague, my brother, who has never been stung, was obviously traumatised as a child by my reaction to being stung (leg swelled to 3x its normal size and I had to go to hospital daily ot have it checked...on holiday too)because he goes on a murderous rampage after any one of them that comes within 6ft of him! I hope Sam isnt too traumatised by the nasty experience. Ben is really coming on in leaps and bounds isnt he? He's is obviously the sensible, sit back and observe until I'm 100% ready for it myself type...and he and you are Sooo lucky that his teeth, like him, are no trouble..I'm a wee bit but more glad for you, it is truly no fun when they are awkward!
WWAJC & J20; glad the teeth are finally coming through and the worst is over for you both (for now) .
Alice; Glad you are having such a nice time with your sis....mmm curry!

We had one of those days from hell yesterday; Alex would be fine, then suddenly start screaming unconsolably, feeling hot and clammy and clinging to me like a limpet...he wouldnt/couldnt nap anywhere but with me and had several hours of just lying listless in my arms (very scary for us..it's just not in his personality to be still)...calpol didnt help...and then just as suddenly he'd be himself again for a while....we think it was probably teething again but nothing yet to show for it. Strangely he than gave us the best nights sleep we have had for ages! Went down at 9, slept 'till 3.30, bfd for 30mins and slept on until 6.45!!!! And today he has napped for an hour and a half this morning and has been asleep (with a 30 min break for a bf) since 2pm this afternoon....I think at this rate I might have to wake him for his dinner!!!!!
talking of which...I had better go and cook something now while the going is good...

muppetgirl · 05/08/2008 18:08

Poor Sam! I've only ever been stung by a dead wasp when I knelt on it and that hurt! Glad he's better though

We had a busy day swimming with friends and then we had friends over to trash the house play. Henry is still so lazy it's beginning to be funny. I watched him reach for a duplo brick, he rolled onto his side but still couldn't quite manage to reach it so he screamed until Ollie came and got it for him, rolled back onto his back and then carried on playing. He has his own little servant so why on earth should he do anything for himself?? Going to have to have a little chat with Ollie, shame though as he's being so lovely but I think it's time to get a little tough with Henry especially as Ollie is starting school and will have to get his toys himself as I am not going to be taking over where Ollie left off

He is back on his lumpy food which he is loving. I think we're getting tooth number 8...

got to go and check the fish fingerss love to all
x

LisaLessLumpy · 05/08/2008 18:49

Ben just did his first movement crawling on his knees! Just moved one knee then the other and his hands forward whilst waiting to get in the bath Time to put the stair gates back up I think

muppetgirl · 05/08/2008 19:13

Yehey Ben!!!!
x

Dalrymps · 05/08/2008 21:59

Hey everyone!
Mine - I know what you mean about feeling bored and claustrophobic. I feel more like that when the house is messy too. Hope you managed to drag yourself ou in the end.

Floria - sorry Alex was unsettled yesterday but glad you got some sleep. Hope he is just teething and he feels more like himself soon.

Muppet - lol at Henry having his own personal servant, sounds like he's got it sorted!

LLL - Well done Ben! He's gonna have you run off your feet soon, go Ben, go Ben

Well after hearing about Alices curry I just had to have one so I'm sat here stuffed and have had to undo my jeans, oh dear!

Dylan is a bit better today, in good spirits and his temp is almost back to normal but he's still off his food, only really eaten some baby rice today and didn't want dinner or tea , sure he'll be back to his old self in no time

Hi to everyone I've missed, of to chill with dh now

alicet · 05/08/2008 22:03

Dal hope Dylan is OK...

LLL hope Sam not too upset by wasp sting and wahay to Ben!

Muppet hope your house still in one piece!

Mine nice one on excercise class - I have booked into a 6 week pilates class (after talking about it for only about 7 months [grin[ to improve my core stability (after 2 sections and separated abdominal muscles) before starting on 'proper' exercise...

Floria sorry Alex has been unsettled but great news on the better night...

Well can't remember if I have told you but over the last week Adam has learnt to crawl. Started like LLL's ben when he moved both knees forwards but kind of didn;t seem to reliase what he's done. We now have proper crawling although it's a kind of strange combination of bum shuffling, knee crawling and foot crawling! He looks pretty comical! Also has learnt to clap a couple of days ago and is really really pleased with himself! He was sitting up in his cot clapping this am and looked super cute! Les amusing that it was only 5.45 but he was still gorgeous!

Meant to say yesterday that I saw Choc and R - not the best catch up as I had a jewellery party with several others (more later) but they both looked really well and seem to be settling in into their new house! R has grown so much I can hardly believe it and has loads more hair!

ANyway about the jewellery party - not sure if any of you have seen this - smallprints where they make jewellery with your dc's finger prints? This is what I was doing at mine yesterday and the jewellery was gorgeous - at least as good as it looks on the website! I got a bangle with a charm from each of my boys the bottom right one on this page and me and my sis also got one the same for Mum for Christmas with all 3 of her grandboys on! Can't wait to get them back next week!

Anyway must go now - off to bed! And hello (as always) to the rest of you I haven't mentioned...

Dalrymps · 05/08/2008 22:17

Just a quick note...
Alice - I've seen theat smallprints stuff, in fact I sent off for info about getting a franchise and doing it myself but can't afford it . Really lovely stuff though. The bracelet you chose is lovely

ChocolateHobnob · 06/08/2008 07:37

Hi ladies!

Quick one from me - off to see PILs today for a few days. We're flying so it'll be Rebecca's first experience of a plane! Hmm.

LLL and Alice, glad the boys are on the move! Rebecca is too, only backwards (!) and somewhat ungracefully; she hasn't got a very good technique yet.

Dal, you were dying for that curry, weren't you???!

Yes, we saw Alice on Monday, and her sister and gorgeous baby nephew (as well as Adam who was absolutely hilarious - exhausted and grumpy but somehow also extremely amusing and amused! - and Sam who is a curly-haired delight). I ordered a pendant for me and cufflinks for DH who likes wearing cufflinks and will be chuffed.

Wish me luck with my trip!!!! Back soon. Have a fun few days!

LisaLessLumpy · 06/08/2008 07:49

YAY ADAM on the crawling

Choc - God Luck on your plane journey. We go on holiday a week on Sunday to Spain, not looking forward to the flight with two of them I must admit

Dal - Glad you enjoyed your curry, we are having one on friday when friends come up because I can't be arsed to plan, prepare and shop for a dinner party

Mine · 06/08/2008 09:01

have a lovely break Choc... flighing with little'uns isn;t as bad as you might think. We took ds to Egypt a few weeks ago, he was absolutely fine on the 5 hour flight...... except for the fact that he did a major poo just as we were taking off and didn;t like to wait until the seatbelt light went off to have his bottom changed!!!

FloriaTosca · 06/08/2008 09:25

Alice; Well done Adam! his crawling sounds like Alexs first attempts ...get it on video before he gets the hang of it properly, we unfortunately missed our window of future embarrassment opportunity with that one . Love the jewellery...just wish I could afford all the items I like on that site.
Choc: I'm sure R will plesantly surprise you on the flight. Have a fab time with the pils.
LLL;I hope you have a fab time in Spain too. Im sure the boys will be perfectly behaved on the journey.

Looks like Alice has set us all off on curry nights...I made a chicken tikka last night, Alex loved it (so he should too, he got cream in his portion, we just had yoghurt)...I'm not lentil weaving enough to make my own Nan yet though, I bought that

Meeting up in York...can everyone interested make the Mon 18th?(the following one is the bank holiday and York will be swarming, besides which I'm sure we will all have other family orientated plans)Failing that we are into September and getting close to 1st birthdays!

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 06/08/2008 11:01

Choc - Have a great trip, sure the flight will go without a hitch and you'll be there before you know it... I'd rather fly than drive any day after my recent trip to Cornwall!
Oh, and yes, I really was dying for that curry, looks like alice tipped me over the edge.

LLL - curry when your friends come sounds good to me and it means you can relax without all that cooking faff. In fact you don't want an extra dinner guest do you

Mine - how you feeling today? I didn't manage to get out for a walk yesterday with Dylan not feeling well but did pop down to the pils for a bit. I had planned a walk today with sil but it's raining now , hope it clears up soon, if not i'll just have to tidy this house some more!

Floria - How's Alex today? Get you making your own curry, you sound like a very good cook, the only time i've made curry from scratch was at school in cooking class , rest of the time it's froma jar or the takeaway i'm afraid. I'm not totally useless though, I do enjoy baking .

About mon 18th, in theroy I can make it, as in I have no plans for that day. It just depends on whether I can afford the train fair (a bit strapped for cash at the mo), also i'm a bit scared of travelling to York on my own with Dylan (silly I know but i've never done it before), I suppose if alicet and choc come they'll be on the same train from newcastle???

Off to give Dylan his milk, he ate all his breakfast so hopefully he's feeling a bit better today, still a bit warm though, maybe he's teething?

Chat soon ladies, hi to everyone I missed out x

Dalrymps · 06/08/2008 11:03

Oh keep forgetting to say... WELL DONE TO ADAM ON THE CRAWLING!!!

J2O · 06/08/2008 11:49

MON 18TH IS THE ONLY MONDAY I CAN'T MAKE!
oops caps sorry, on the phone so just writing uickly

Mine · 06/08/2008 13:27

am envious of your york meet up!! I wish i was close enough to make the trip, but from london, its a tad too far for the day!!

Anyone fancy resurrecting to impossible london meet up...?

Congrats to all the crawling LO's !!!

I'm certain Eren is going to skip this phase and go straight into walking, he can walk around the whole lounge and kitchen with me holding his hands, but can;t be bothered to crawl

Dal - im doing ok thanks. I don;t know why i just seem to think that everything takes just so much effort and enegry out of me. I didn;t make it to my exercise class last night, but i did pop out to the shops with DH this morning which was nice. I'd been cooped up at home with ds for 3 days and i REALLY needed to get out. Weather here is unpredictable so its hard to find something to do that doesn;t involve walking around in the rain.

We might be off to a small zoo in hertfordshire tomorrow, weather permitting so that should be nice.

Dh has a couple of weeks off at the end of the month so have a few things planned.. we're going to Bath for the day, and Canterbury, and anywhere else thats close enough to drive!! Ideas welcome, as long as they are within driving distance from london.

I'm really cross with our baby clinic as i asked a few weeks ago about Eren's 8 month check.. the HV told me that they have stopped doing these now across the whole UK because they didn;t have enough HV;s to cope with demand, but i have since noticed that many peopke on MN have been having their checks, and my cousin who lives 4 miles away had her twins 8 month check!! WTF!

I'm going to ask again on monday and have a bit of a pop at them about it.

Hi to everyone (waves)

ps. I can;t believe there is talk of having more babies already!!!

muppetgirl · 06/08/2008 19:02

Hi all

HENRY JUST ROLLED FROM HIS FRONT TO HIS BACK TWICE!!!!!

Not the most amazing feat I do understand but in our house this is groundbreaking (quite literally with Henry's weight )

...amd he didn;t cry, just giggled.

Am definately up for a London meet up

Love to all
xx

LisaLessLumpy · 06/08/2008 19:31

LOL - Go HENRY!

FloriaTosca · 06/08/2008 20:12

Henry;Way to go big lad!!!!!

OK 18th is out if J20 can't make it. Next is the 1st of September...how does everyone feel about that one?

OP posts:
Mine · 06/08/2008 20:32

Good on Henry!! There'll be no stopping him now!!

re london meet up - I think natural history museum was mentioned before as an easily accessible place for most... maybe we can meet there??
I'm easy on the dates.
Anyone else up for it!!
(getting excited emoticon!)

alicet · 06/08/2008 21:31

Hello all! Sorry no time to catch up...

I think 1st Spet will work for me though if I am brave enough to bring 2 boys on the train... Esp as I think we might finally be entering the terrible 2's...
