I know Holly, I am lucky. Thanks for reminding me They are home now (they just go to Waistrose to look for cheap cake ) so better go make up.

foxythesnowfox · 25/05/2008 15:53

Holly, am about your DP not taking either of them out on his own. You'd better get onto that (for the sake of his establishing an independent relationship with his children of course, not so you can have a long soak ).

How funny! I might have to go and have a look at the old threads. No, on second thoughts there were waaaay too many!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 25/05/2008 16:01

Enjoy your cake jammy!

That reminds me...I have uneaten birthday cake in the fridge waiting for me to scoff! I'd better go and put the kettle on (or make dp do it) and eat it!

I know foxy! He is a lazy fecker! Although I am quite unhealthily attached to my dcs and hate being away from them for more than an hour at a time. Dd stayed with my parents last night and it was like hell, I really missed her! I need to get a life and some hobbies!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/05/2008 16:05

I understand about the missing them bit Holly. I was so pleased at first to be walking on my own instead of pushing the buggy, but then I found I was missing commenting on the birds and the flowers and stuff. I went much faster without it too, hence the sore feet.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 16:38

lol holly, I remember your post well...."oh, fuck, my waters have just broken"..or words to that effect

boys are back now. No fish, but they did get a few bites and DS had a great time. He had a little notebook with him and has written an account of the day, bless him.

DH, by way of trying to make up asked if I wanted a cup of tea . He'll need to work a little harder than that methinks.

We are going to the local curry buffet this evening (DSs choice), but tbh, I feel soooooo tired and sick due to this blasted anaemia. I forgot to pick up my iron tablets as well and the pharmacy is now shut till Tuesday

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 16:39

jammy, sorry you've got sore feet. sore feet hav got to be the worst thing ever as you can't exactly get away from it.

It's my anniversary on Tuesday. We are supposed to be going out tomorrow night, but I really don't think I have the energy

foxythesnowfox · 25/05/2008 17:17

C'mon Daisy, you've got to try and make the effort. Even if its just two hours early on - you'll enjoy it when you get there. Probably.

Walking without a buggy? Feels odd, I don't know what to do with my arms. And I still comment on things. I dropped DD off at nursery the other morning (without dd2) and said to myself, and any other mother listening, "Come on then! Off we go!"

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 25/05/2008 17:48

Daisy, I expect Boots will be open tomorrow. Make dp take the dcs into town to pick up your tablets whilst you have a lie in. Sounds like a plan! I am with foxy on the going out thing, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself once you're there. Put on a nice top and some mascara and eat some curry for me! Glad your boys had a good time and bless mrr with his notebook!

I too feel pretty weird without pushing a pushchair or wearing a sling. I really haven't a clue what to do with my hands or who to talk to. I suppose it's a bit like going out without your handbag, you feel like you've forgotten something!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 25/05/2008 17:56

AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!! AIBU if I snap The Cat in the Hat DVD in half and stamp on it repeatedly? My dd won't stop watching it and it is driving me mental! I think I shall "lose" it when she goes to bed tonight and not be able to find it in the morning!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/05/2008 18:09

Prob a bit U to snap the dvd in half, but not at all U to lose it for a while

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 25/05/2008 19:39

Hi all, safely back home. DD has been fab the whole time we've been away. She's making up for it now by not going to sleep though.

Holly I can't believe DP has never taken the DCs out. I told DH and he couldn't believe either. God, you need a break!

DH has taken DD out for as long as I can remember. The longest was 5 hours, it was so relaxing! We both have the next 3 days off, and offered to let me go away overnight on my own. The friend I thought about staying with is on holiday, and my other friend lives too far away for one night. I would love to go and stay in a B&B or something but just can't justify it. DD is still being bfed but has started to take cow's milk while I am at work which makes things a lot easier and gives me a lot more freedom.

I remember before I went back to work though, going out on my own felt sooo weird!

Anyway daisy, hope your evening gets better. Jammy, yours too. Ouch for your poor tootsies and hope things are better with DH.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 25/05/2008 20:07

Hahahaha! The DVD is now "lost". I am a meanie !

It's really funny bumper because although it does sometimes get too much and I feel I need a break I never really mean it! ATM ds is still bfing every 4 hours or so, so even if I wanted to go away from him for a whole day or night I couldn't, I would die of engorgement! I really need to start cutting the feeds down to 3-4 in 24 hours, but it's just so easy to feed him if he gets upset or hurt and I never need to take any food out for him as he will happily just have bmilk instead of solids. In fact I think we would have been absolutely fine if I had started weaning him at 12 months! I honestly can't see us stopping bfing for a good couple of years

Glad you have had a good time and hope you can think of somewhere to go. A night off sounds like a lovely treat!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 20:10

Well we went out for our curry and it was really nice. Dh and I managed to get on for a bit but are back to sniping at each other over petty things. He is bloody well doing my nut in. I don't think me suggesting he takes the DCs out while I have a lie in will go down very well as he hasn't had a lie in for ages...tough though.

I've just spoken to my sister for the first time in about five weeks. She has been having a very tough time of it. They have been struggling financially as her DH had a very lean year last year and start to this year (self employed builder) due to illness and a lack of work, and although things have picked up they haven't managed to keep up with the mortgage and the bank are repossessing the house , although they have given them time to sell it. On top of that she found out she was pregnant and they decided that a termination was the only option given that they will be homeless as soon as the house is sold . I just feel so helpless as I can't do anything. She was really upset as well, about the termination (understandably she hasn't really felt like talking to me ). She doesn't even know where they will be living or even if the council will re-home them.

Kind of puts all my own worries into perspective really.

FrazzledFairyFay · 25/05/2008 20:15

Oh no Daisy your poor sister

Holly, I feel your pain

Bumper, I'm glad you had a nice time with your Dad

LittleMissNorty · 25/05/2008 20:16

that's so sad Daisy ....

Happy belated birthday to Ellen and Daisy's DS and Likel's DD

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 25/05/2008 20:19

Oh daisy, how awful for your sister. Hope she is ok. She must just feel like her whole world has caved in. Does she live in Scotland? Are your family near her?

Glad you had a good curry, but sorry dh is being twunty.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 20:27

Yes, she is in Scotland, but she has our big sis looking out for her, thankfully. They even work together. I'm just so worried about her, as she took my mum's death quite hard and now all of this, but she is so determined and self possessed that she would never ask for help.

Her DH has long been a bit of a reckless character and would splurge on luxuries (plasma TV/Wii/classic mini) rather than saving for a rainy day, and as far as we knew didn't have any sort of insurance to cover him if he was ill and couldn't work. I suppose the surprise is that it's taken this long for things to go belly up, but poor DSis, she really doesn't deserve this.

I've offered to have the kids for a couple of weeks in the school holidays, but the main problem is the limited overlap of Scottish and English holidays

foxythesnowfox · 25/05/2008 20:32

for your sister Daisy. Its an awful situation.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 20:32

DH less of a twunt. He came back from his cigar run with some diet coke and chocolate and has offered to take the kids out for a bit tomorrow to give me a bit of space and a rest........don't you just hate it when they do that

am watching a thing on Channel 5 about tiny children. I think it's called primordial dwarfism (?). It's quite heartbreaking.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/05/2008 20:37

Daisy, sorry for your sister. Must be an awful feeling. Glad your curry was good though.

Bumper, glad you had a good visit to your dad's. Sure DD will settle back into normal life soon. And hope you get a night away somewhere.

And I don't think I wished Lilkel's DD a happy birthday - sorry!

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 25/05/2008 20:46

Daisy, that's really harsh for your sister But glad DH is giving you some space tomorrow.

foxythesnowfox · 25/05/2008 20:55

DP and I are rowing (well he's shouting and I'm not listening). He's gone out now all huffy. He's complaining that noone listens to him and he's getting frustrated. I try to explain its not the content of the message but the way he presents the message (i.e. shouting) but that winds him up more

Well, a girls got to have some sport

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 21:06

LOL foxy

Am suffering from eating that curry now.....have v v v v bad indigestion. Oh the joys of pregnancy

foxythesnowfox · 25/05/2008 21:08

Actually I really want to be PG too!

Boiled eggs for me I think. Did a Sunday roast for lunch, made stock and roasted butternut squash for a risotto tomorrow .
