DP has taken the 3 children out and I've just put the baby to bed. Now sat here eating pizza! Spent yesterday doing stuff and getting pissed off with the relentless drudgery, so having a relax today.

I'm having problems with my neck, its quite sore and stiff. I am totally milking it for DP though. I need a rest!!

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 13:34

Yay! The Sound of Music is on later!

Today is a good day!

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 26/05/2008 13:48

DH has taken DD out to get ice cream

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 13:49

Is it warm and sunny where you are then?

Piddling down here, and I'm getting sucked into those SAHM threads.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/05/2008 14:00

Afternoon, we have just sorted out some boxes of stuff we were storing in DD's room. Now got a pile of stuff for charity and a few bits to find homes for and a lot more space

Peeing down here too, though less so than this morning. Got to go out in a bit to pot up some seedlings that are too big for the kitchen windowsill, so hope it eases up some more yet.

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 14:05

Hi Jammy! Your post has reminded me that I should be taking advantage of the DCs not being here and sort out their toys and books to take to the school fair.

But I probably won't

Sputnik · 26/05/2008 14:08

Whoa, mega catch up, like Fury I can't remember much. Just a quick happy brthday though to Lilkel and Natty's DDs, if you happen to pop in.

Lol at the kitchen roll Bumper. I think Baby Sputnik's birthday wishlist would be: a bog roll all his own, some hair, a shadow, a pile of dust, somebody's nostril and possiby a big sister who was a bit nicer to him

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 14:12

Ahh, LOL at Baby Sputniks wish list

Natty may be otherwise engaged - I checked out her Facebook - seems her DH has agreed to another baby

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/05/2008 14:40

and for Natty's news

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 26/05/2008 14:54

Argh! DH's work are being tosscunts again. There is a new manager at the store and she had booked 2 weeks off and they asked DH to cover those 2 weeks, which would have meant me taking 2 weeks off work. I said that I was prepared to do one week but not both as I already had this week booked off. Fair enough, the manager said fine they would mange, they have managed before with no manager and no supervisor.

This was a few weeks ago, now the area manager, who it doesn't affect, has kicked up a fuss saying that DH has to do it. This was yesterday, talking about next week. His manger tried to smooth it over but this tosswank area manager has said that if DH doesn't cover both weeks he will have to go back to working full time when his trial period ends, which is a couple of weeks away. We have no idea what to do. I am so fucked off with them screwing us over. DH could try and get another job, hopefully with similar hours but he actually gets paid well for what he does (it's still shit, but better than others in this type of job). he will have to leave, and I will have to go back to work full time and we won't be able to cover our bills. Makes me feel pretty bad for buying the wii now.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/05/2008 15:03

Aw, Bumper That's really shit of them. Sorry.

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 15:34

They can't do that Bumper.

If I were you I'd start a new thread on this. Flowerybeanbag is good on this sort of thing isn't she?

Sounds to me like a knee-jerk reaction and a company of that size should try harder. They can bring in temporary cover from another branch perhaps?

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 26/05/2008 15:45

They don't f-ing need cover, that's the thing, they've managed ok until now without cover. They never get cover in anyway. DH has refused to go off sick in the past so he didn't leave his colleagues in the lurch.

He's being a real PITA now, this would make me want to go "right I'm going to go and do XY Z until I get something sorted." Instead he is vetoing my ideas ("what's the point in going to the agencies, I've already left my details"). The think is he got all righteous about it a few months ago when they screwed him over before and promised to look for a better job, but that lasted about 2 weeks. The thing is he waits until something like this happens which panics us rather than doing something about it anyway when he knows they are a bunch of wankers and will shit on him again and again. God, we are really going to fall out about this today. He deserves better than this, fuck it I deserve better than this.

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 15:52

Perhaps he feels a bit can't think of the right word crap about it? a bit disempowered? Yes, he should do something productive about it whether it is stand his ground and stand up for the rights of the part-time employee, or to look out another job. But men are funny creatures and won't be told, will they? It has to be their idea.

Walk away from the arguement Bumper, it is a lose-lose. Have a bath.

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 26/05/2008 16:02

too late

justbeme · 26/05/2008 16:17

Oh sorry Bumper for all the crap you're going through.
Foxy, you made me smile "It has to be their idea" - so true!
We've just had a mini argument as well - I've not left the house today, its still pissing it down.
we were going to go to the shops 2hrs ago, so I got changed and then my friend phoned and then DP said "Its too late now".
He just heard me saying to another friend that I was bored and then when I reminded him of the above - he said that I should have insisted on going out. WTF???
I hate bank holidays!!

Hi MHC! how's the new place?

RiaButterflew · 26/05/2008 18:48

Hi all. Not keen on bank holidays myself.

sorry for you arguments bumper and jammy and and for you about DHs work stress bumper.

of your pizza foxy.

I am really tired and dreading having to watch Springwatch with DS1 later.

lackaDAISYcal · 26/05/2008 19:01

Evening all

bumper, that is really shit about your DHs work. I hope that things get sorted so that you can keep this arrangement going. they must surely realise that you can't just change your working/childcare arrangements at such short notice.

hi mhc.....I hope you get your broadband sorted soon. why worried about Vit D? is that in connection with DS2 having no teeth yet?

fury, say hi to derlor from me. I must get round to e-mailing her soon.

sorry for all the bank holiday stresses . things have been good here for a change. We have done more in the garden and DD had a ball, digging and eating dirt and stones , and then turning herself into an oompa-loopa with her pasta sauce at teatime. I'll try and get some new photos up on FB soon.

waves to everyone else.

am feeling much better today, and we had another good day in the garden (bummer aboout the rain down south though). We have cleared another two spaces 6ft x 1ft for DS to grow his own selection of veggies.

Am reading the thread about the chicken rescue and wishing we could have some chickens, but DH says NO!!!

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 26/05/2008 19:14

I would love chickens!

Bank holidays are shit.

Why am I the bad in this situation. Apparently I am not supportive enough. DH wants me to tell him it doesn't matter and it will all be ok. It feck does matter and it will be ok if he goes out and gets another job. I don't think about him enough, just how it affects me and the financial implications. But it does affect me, it affects us all and I am sorry if my solution is to be proactive and try and do something about it.

Oh and apparently I got my job because I was lucky, and he hasn't because he is unlucky. So nothing to do with the fact that he sends application forms of at 2am without anyone else reading them. Or that his idea of job searching is getting the Echo once a fucking week. Arrgggghhhhhhhhhhh!

FrazzledFairyFay · 26/05/2008 19:16

That really sucks Bumper, twunty twunts

I'm glad you are feeling better, Daisy

Helloooo everyone else

Pretty dull bank hol here. The weather was terrible - we had planned to got to Kew Gdns but were rained-off so Dh's brother and his wife came over for lunch, and then we played wii.

FrazzledFairyFay · 26/05/2008 19:17

I feel your pain Bumper, that would drive me bonkers. Whenever Dh has a bad day, I offer solutions and he complains that he doesn't want me to tell him why things happen or what he should do - rather I should pat his head, say 'there there'.

HellHathNoFury · 26/05/2008 19:20

Evening all!

Sorry to hear about your woes Bumper. I don't think YABU.
Sometimes tbh I feel very lucky, DH and I never ever row really, we just seem to peacefully co-exist. Except when DS has drained us of our will to live when he has had a grumpy day.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/05/2008 19:37

Evening all.

Sorry about shit Bank Holidays. Amazingly we haven't rowed. Normally i feel the need to go out and do something, to make the most of this extra day, and DH just wants to close the curtains and watch some old films in the dark, so there is often an amount of negotiation to be done. but today we just muddled along, getting on with a few bits and playing with the jamlet Got the tomatos and courgette and pumpkin plants potted up in planters outside - even if I had to go out and redo it after DH had had a go because he'd put them in too small pots, and hadn't put in any supports so they were drooping all over the place.

And after chickening out of teeth cleaning last night, we managed to do milk-teeth-jamas-cuddle-bed tonight without any tears at going to bed without milk immediately beforehand, and she went straight off to sleep I hope that if we get into this new routine well I might be allowed to bow out of bedtime on occasion (after the milk step at least).

Got my sister coming to visit Weds - Sat this week, so prob won't be around after tomorrow. Her children are all grown up but she's delighted to have a baby to cuddle again And she's agreed to babysit one night
