simpson · 30/06/2008 21:35

Woo Hoo Murray!!!

JKS - I bath DS every night as he tends to roll in dirt etc everyday!! Buy don't bother with DD.

gingeme · 30/06/2008 22:09

Hi all
I don't bath the boys every night unless theyre paticularly dirty.
Discovered today George has thrush in his mouth though it seems to be on the tip of his tongue and the skin bit that joins his teeth to his gum under the top lip iyswim?
Ill take him straight to the docs in the morning. Hell get drops like ds4 did when he had it.
He slept from 7.30 pm to 5am this morning. Had a bottle and bum change then slept till about 7.45. Ah I hope he keeps this up. Better still misses out the 5am feed. Oh I can only wish.

simpson · 30/06/2008 22:16

Gingeme - sorry to hear about thrush hope docs sort it. Re sleeping that is exactly what my DD does. Goes down 6/6.30 then feeds at 5am then sleeps till 7am. Wish she would last till 7am or manage to go to bed a bit later. But can't really complain as she is good at night really. Fingers X for tonight!! I have probably tempted fate now.

gingeme · 30/06/2008 22:30

Ah yes simpson be careful what you wish for!
I have found since George has been eating a bit of something with his last bottle hes been sleeping that little longer. As soon as hes 7-7 sleeping like his big brothers his cot will be put in there room. Not that it makes any odds to me having him in our room realy its not like he snores

simpson · 30/06/2008 22:35

DD has been in her own room for a while but we are lucky she doesn't have to share with DS.If we do decide to have another LO it will have to share though. Am lucky that both DCs are good sleepers. Now i have DEFINATELY tempted fate for tonight!!

gingeme · 30/06/2008 22:48

Ha ha good luck.
Ive updated my pics on my profile by the way if anyones interested.
Off to bed now.
Night all xxxxx

Kelix · 30/06/2008 22:50

Going to tempt fate myself here. My DD sleeps well and has done for a while. She doesn't have a night time feed anymore, she goes to bed at 9pm and sleeps till at least 8am! Which is absolutly great for me. Gives me and DP some time to ourselves in the evening and means I still get a decent nights sleep!!

Am ready and prepared to be up at least twice tonight now I habe said that

Quite new here just wondering what kind of routines everyones little ones have?

simpson · 30/06/2008 23:11

gingeme - great pics George looks so big compared to my puny DD!!

Kelix - my DD is pretty good at night (again tempting fate!) She does not sleep much in day though. 45 mins in morning 20 min nap midday and 30 mins in buggy in the afternoon. She goes to bed 6pm ish. Will sleep through till 5/6am. Not weaned her yet though. she has about 30/35 ozs a day. When she starts waking up more in night may try baby rice etc. How old is your DD?

Kelix · 30/06/2008 23:31

simpson - she is 24 weeks tomorrow but she was 16 days late and apparently looks and acts a little older (according to others but as she is my first I have no real comparison).
I started weaning about 2 weeks ago - early I know but she was very ready! She has 3 8ounce bottles a day plus 2 meals which she seems more than happy with. She is in a routine which is roughly
bottle at 9am
food at 12noon
bottle at 3pm
food at 6pm
bottle at 8:30 - 9 (before bed)
It works for us and like I said she sleeps well and is a very happy little girl (most of the time )
Before I started weaning she started waking in the night and wanted a bottle every 2 hours. She naps about the same as you DD a little more in the morning and less as the day goes on. She likes to be awake during the day so she doesnt miss anything

Good to have some one to talk (or type) to who has little ones of a simular age

simpson · 30/06/2008 23:51

My DD is 22 wks tomorrow ( I think!)She has 6 ozs at 5/6am, 6 ozs at 8am, 6 ozs at 11am, 6 ozs at 1pm, 6 ozs at 3pm, 6 ozs at 5pm, 3 ozs before bed 6/6.30ish. (the last small feed done in room, dimmed light etc) God looking at it she feeds a lot!! No wonder I feel like I am permanently feeding her!! She does not always drain her bottles but then some of them she does and has another 2 ozs put in. Maybe she needs baby rice!!

Kelix · 01/07/2008 00:37

simpson - thats the stage I was getting to when I decided to wean her! she has taken to it really well which I am over the moon about

Well DD is still fast asleep so I think its bed time for me x

justkeepswimming · 01/07/2008 05:34

for the first time in my life i'm looking forward to winter, all those dark mornings....

ds last few nights:
9, 10, 11, 4.30, 6
3.30, 6
10, 11, 3.30, 4.30, 6
12.30, 3.30, 5.....

omg, i'm sooo tired.

justkeepswimming · 01/07/2008 05:40

sorry, ds1 just woke up, tried to persuade him to go back to bed...we'll see.

my mil is trying her hardest to get me to give ds2 'proper' food - don't think she's a fan of blw tho she did help yesterday.
i don't know what's best, abandon blw, spoon feed ds2, maybe get more sleep and be a better mummy all round, or stick to (new - did annabel karmel with ds1) principles and stay sleep-deprived.

seeing doc later re his eczema, was hoping to get repeat prescription for my pill but told i can just put in a piece of paper for a request. which sounds good but i can't get the pills for 2 days. if i get a new prescription from the doc i can get them straight away? and of course i've left it to the last minute and take the last one today, grrr. will just ask the doc anyway and hope she takes pity on me.

good (relatively speaking) morning all

Kelix · 01/07/2008 08:49

Good morning all

justkeepswimming - my DD had trouble sleeping when her excema was particually bad. Went to docs and her gave me some cream (hydrocortisone) and the difference in her sleep pattern was great!

RE Baby Led Weaning - how many people are attempting this?

My DD is happy with finger foods as a snack (healthy & not very often!) but still has puree for main meals. This all came about when the cheeky little monkey stole a carrot from my plate and started munching. I did consider baby led although my mum babysits every friday (miss DD terribly but its great to get some adult time with DP ) and she really wasn't keen on the idea. As I wasn't 100% sure that was the way to go I stuck to puree which seems to be going fine.

gingeme · 01/07/2008 09:47

Morning ladies.
Justkeepswimming your a brave woman doing blw. I tried it with ds4 but he just gagged on everything and wasn't happy about it. Saying that once he got past the puree stage he realy did go for our food just mashed up rather than the jar stuff.
George woke at 4 this moring as usual then a bottle bum change and back to sleep till 7.18 am
Buying a bread maker today. My Mum has one and the bread is always so yummy. Decided yesterday after paying nearly £1.50 for a loaf of decent bread
Well better get someones bum changed.
See you ladies later. Have a good day all xx

Amani · 01/07/2008 09:58

Just keep swimming - my DD2 has had very bad eczema since she was 2 mths (in and out of hosp and GP for it) but for the last week it's been much better. Previously it was all over but now it's mostly on her legs. And she is sleeping MUCH BETTER at night as she is not waking herself up and scratching.....so pleased...

lilyloo · 01/07/2008 10:15

JKS but thankd god it's not just me !
I am really at a loss now with dd
She has been going two hours at most for about the last week!
She goes down fine and settles herself really quickly but then she usually wakes 45-1 hr after going down and will resettle with her dummy. But then she just goes two hours at most until 6/7 ish.
She will only settle if i feed her. She is awake for 5 min at most but i know it's becoming a habit.
Last night i expressed a bottle to see how much she was drinking and it's prob 1/2 oz at most each time!

Help , i am currently giving her some cereal in the morning and then she is having the odd bit of veg off my plate at tea time if we have it.

JKS i am with you me and dp are shattered, i have a mouth full of ulcers and he is full of a cold which i think is being run down!

susiemj · 01/07/2008 10:43

I can't believe Sabela is 6 months old today! Yay!

Lilyloo and JKS - I'm still with you on the appalling sleeping. I'm shattered. She's waking really frequently - sometimes every hour. Although she did go for 6 hours one night a few days ago. I keep trying to keep in mind that she used to sleep through and will do again one day!

I'm trying the No-cry Sleep Solution book, but apparently it can take weeks to have an eefect. DH is all for controlled crying but I feel I have nurtured and protected her and I don't want to terrify her now. I like the book. I feel I at least understand why she wakes up now. There's a chapter on sleep patterns etc. It's very tailored to individuals - for example, there are things to try if you co-sleep, things to try if you also want them to go in the cot etc. You pick and choose what you think might help. And last night she did go into her cot a little bit awake and did go to sleep and I feel this is a small victory (even though she only slept for and hour and forty minutes!)

I'm hoping for a gradual improvement, just hope I can keep being patient. It's bloody hard when you're knackered.

On BLW front - I'm doing a bit of both. But she only likes porridge and tomatoes at the moment??? I'm not bothered. I've tried carrot, sweet potato, courgette, pear and banana but she's notimpressed. I just bung it in the freezer and will try again soon. She can gnaw a rusk perfectly well!

Sorry no personals - have read but feel totally incoherent!

gingeme · 01/07/2008 10:47

susiemj keep at the book. It realy does help
Do you mean porridge and tomatoes at the same time
Anyone tried Fromage Frais with their lo yet?
I give George one every other evening and he sleeps like a dream. Probably totaly naughty but it works for us.

lilyloo · 01/07/2008 11:12

Susie i have that will dig it out and read it, anything worth a try.
DS was such a bad sleeper and i am crossing my fingers dd2 won't be as dd1 was fab and was sleeping through at 6 weeks
I wasn't really prepared for another bad one!
Gingeme not tried fromage frais yet what age can they have them as George is older than dd ?

OP posts:
simpson · 01/07/2008 11:15

Most odd. DD always goes to bed with feet at bottom of cot. When I went in to feed her at 5am her head is where her feet should be. Totally moved round. Has shown no signs of rolling etc and has not done a repeat performance today..

susiemj · 01/07/2008 11:24

LOL Simpson - I noticed Sabela on a half cartwheel the other day. It seemed to be a little game for her. She was shuffling and kicking.

Thanks Gingeme - I darn well hope so! Porridge and tomatoes! Do you think I'm a maniac? ! Porridge on spoon, tomatoes on the end of my finger. Not sure why!

Lily - I wasn;t prepared for Sabela to turn bad. She's been so fine up until a little while ago. She even went 10-7 some days. I'm a bit shell shocked too!

susiemj · 01/07/2008 11:25

Gingeme - I remember you psoting a bit on withdrawing the nipple if the baby isfeeding to sleep. Can I ask, did you do any rocking with this? I'm a bit confused.

simpson · 01/07/2008 11:41

Kelix - am planning to do BLW but as the time approaches I may chicken out a bit am worried about choking etc. May do a bit of pureeing too.

susiemj · 01/07/2008 11:46

Apparently the key to not choking in BLW is big hcunks. Then they can nibble off what they can handle. She's not really done that yet though. Apart from with a rusk.
