The evening is very nearly my own!!

DD down for night is very tired. Did massive poo all over herself so had to bath her which has knackered her out. She was so tired she would not take any milk screaming blue murder, but calmed down once put in cot thank God.

DS is watching an episode of In the Night Garden then he will be down for the night but naughty mummy forgot to charge is night light so there may be a tantrum about that. Ho hum..

Am going to watch the programme about large babies tonight @ 9.00. A work colleague had gestational diabetes and her DS weighed 14lbs 11. Ouch!! My DD does not even weigh that now and is 19 weeks!!

fillybuster · 11/06/2008 18:59

Hi everyone

Simpson - welcome! My dd was born the same day Oh, and my ds is the same age as yours too

Susie - I've been to the clinic twice since Tamara was born - she's a poor neglected second baby ! Truth is, she's nice and chubby so I really don't worry...

Nicky - I can do any day except Friday

Not going to wean Tamara yet, have now shifted to formula (and my breasts are killing me!!!) but am going to hold off weaning for a few more weeks...entirely selfish, I just can't face dealing with it yet and she's sleeping fine on just her milk

Hugs to everyone...had better get back to putting both kids to bed!!

simpson · 11/06/2008 19:02

Well bit of a result for me DS fell asleep in front of tv which NEVER happens at beginning of his programme too so carried up to bed nice and easy no fuss about lamp!!

fillybuster · 11/06/2008 19:49

Just fishing for some sympathy, ladies...just put both kids to bed on my own and dh is off out to 'the' Gordon Ramsay restaurant for dinner with work tonight - the posh one on royal hospital road. So he gets the jollies and I get leftoevers.... Ah well, at least I get to watch the final of the Apprentice....!!

susiemj · 11/06/2008 19:50

Any choccie ice cream in the freezer Filly?

barristermum · 11/06/2008 19:55

Hi Simpson, welcome!

Had lovely afternoon today as finished in court early so was able to pick Cerys up at 1pm and we had a whole afternoon giggling and chatting! She seems to be over he bug/ the heat or whatever it was. Work does make you especially appreciate those moments - I had such a buzz with her today and she was twisting with excitement to be playing with me. Think you were right to take the morning job MM - these are scary times for work and security is important.

Ange - Cerys was a big baby - 9 and half lbs at 39 weeks - they induced as they thought she was 10 and a half at 38 weeks! They kept testing me for GD as am overweight with family history but never had it or any symptoms - Cerys was very long tho' - 58cm and that made her estimated weight huge. Her Father is 6'2 so hopefully she''ll be a leggy slim girl unlike her built for comfort Mummy.

Can't remember who was asking but I had an emergency C Section on the thurs and was allowed home on the sat - they did my scar so well with glue that I was fine and could do stairs and pick up Cerys from day 2 pretty much. Had thought it was going to be so much worse than it was.

Nicky - what sort of test? Judging? Try and come to the meet up as I hadn't said cos it depends on case finishing early but I might be able to make the meet up and wd love to meet you as well as catch up with my gurus Gingeme, filly and jks. Is anyone esle coming?

madmouse · 11/06/2008 20:01

You deserve a treat filly

Still breastfeeding here. Tried babyrice two weeks ago but Nathan grabbed the spoon and stuck it in his eye, babyrice and all. Not interested in swallowing any and hv has advised to wait a bit.

We got the keys to our new house today and took Nathan on his inaugural trip to Ikea and then to see the house. The vendor has left it very clean with helpful notes everywhere . Nathan was very impressed by the effect of his crying in an empty room. Nice echos . It has knackered him out though. He cried when I tried to feed him, had to try for a bit. He is now full up and asleep nice and early.

Better get going. So much to do!

fillybuster · 11/06/2008 20:10

Well dh has phoned and grovelled again for getting to do this without me and has promised to attempt to pocket some of the petits fours for me....

I'm going to warm up my takeout from planet organic, pour a very large glass of nice white wine, have a bath (as soon as I finish on MN!!) and watch tv lying on the sofa. Shame I'll have to wait up until 11 to feed dd as I'd love to grab an early night, but I suspect dh will be too late/worse for wear to deal with it when he gets in !

Btw, went to the gynae for a checkup today after my appalling cauterisation experiences of 2.5 weeks ago - that's all healed nicely (hurrah!) but as nookie with dh over the weekend proved, there's still some more internal scarring. She checked, and apparently this is 'properly' internal - some stitches didn't break down and have formed an internal lump that will require a general anaesthetic to remove.... We've agreed to leave it a month and see how nookie is - she said there's a chance the lump will soften up now I've stopped bfing and my hormone levels return to normal. So fingets crossed....

OK, off to run the bath, hugs to all xxx

LuckySalem · 11/06/2008 21:11

Had a nice day today although turned out to be too cold to dip DD's toes in sea.

Yes we water her juice down - it barely tastes of juice. I give her just enough to make the colour change not cheating really

Right knackered. Off to bed

justkeepswimming · 11/06/2008 21:24

simpson - yey to one less poo i always have a quite smug thought whenever they have to do one at nursery
have fun shopping!

um, just realised the time, and i'm knackered, will prob be back to catch up properly at 5am tomorrow

just don't get a svan highchair!!

spk tom

gingeme · 11/06/2008 22:31

filly I still have 4 lumps from stitches from my first baby. I can feel them but the skin has grown over them so they are soft now. Sorry if tmi

simson did you watch the programme on big babys? I just sat with my mought open through most of it I so felt for those toddlers too. That bloody twin saying 'Oh I don't want him to be the biggest in the class. Weazing and not being able to breathe properly'. Hellooooo hes already there love
Lol at gurus Barriestermum . You have to come to the meet up so I can cuddle my surrogate daughter

gingeme · 11/06/2008 22:50

simpson · 12/06/2008 12:10

Hi guys
DH taken DD to go and get DS from playgroup so have 5 mins to myself!!

Filly - hope you enjoyed wine, did DH bring you anything back? Sorry you may have to have G A.

Lucky - glad you enjoyed your day out.

Gingeme - could not beleive the size of that 3 yr old. What made me laugh was when the mother said other parents didn't like him playing with their toddlers as he was too rough (well would you?!!) and they thought he was being discriminated against!!

Madmouse - glad you have new home lol at echos!!

Barristermum - glad you had a lovely afternoon with DD

Hi anyone else I have not mentioned. Brain a bit mush today!!

DH leaving for work when back with the DCs, chat later...

simpson · 12/06/2008 12:15

Forgot to ask anyone who does a dream feed at 10/11pm ish is LO awake or do you wake them? DD goes to bed at 6-6.30pm and SOMETIMES goes 12 hrs but the last few nights has woken at 3.00/4.00am. Wondering if dream feed would help. Only problem is she is in v deep sleep then. What do you think?

justkeepswimming · 12/06/2008 13:34

mixedm - well done on making a decision re job. when will you start? what are you doing re childcare?

i am going to dig out the svan and give it a good clean and use it since i spent so much on it! (even second hand off ebay ) it has a good tray for blw, bung some broccoli, etc. and let him get on with it. still waiting a bit tho so he can sit up in it properly. ds1 is still using the handysitt that straps to the chair, v handy if anyone's thinking of getting one.
must get my bumbo back from a friend...

filly - did dh enjoy it? and did you have fun at home? bad news re the lumps, hope they will soften over the next few weeks. amazed at how wrong these things can go...

barristerm - hope you can make meet up, the more the merrier sounds like you had fun with cerys. that's fab that you can pick her up early if you want.

madmouse - great that you got the keys! which house was it in the end, the one you preferred or not? when do you move?

lucky - tis a bit chilly atm i agree. glad you had a good day tho.

gingeme - dh asked for some funny real ales that are on special offer in 'daddy's shop' / the off licence! will make a card with ds1 later, cut some pics out of the weekend paper magazines and will get busy with glue...
missed that programme after all

simpson -i never had done a dream feed, too worried LO won't go back to sleep and i'll have woken them unnecessarily...and when do you stop???
my first rule has always been not to wake a sleeping baby

ds2 up at 4 for a feed, then both of them up at 6.30. dh was here this morning too, off in a mo, so i had the luxury of a long bath while he took them out to buy milk/post letters/etc.

missed toddler group tho, ah well we'll go tomorrow.
going to put my feet up for a bit (both boys napping) as to do list is boring me!

spk soon

gingeme · 12/06/2008 13:42

Afternoon ladies. Had to cancel lo's jabs today he still has a horrid cold . Took ds4 to the docs though. He has 2 round dry patches on his cheek. I thought they might have been ring worm but the doc says thats not very likely as we don't have pets. Its just a bit of excema so he's given me some quortisone cream for him.
Simson I know. I thought I had big babies but they were mahoosive
Had an eventful early morning. Lo woke at 2.30 as usual fed him but he proceeded to bring it all back up so while I was on the floor wiping that up ds4 then woke crying a bit so I went in to shush him. He dropped off again so I carried on cleaning the floor by which time ds3 had woke shouting for a drink. Got him a drink and tried shushing ds4 again as he had woken up. ds3 trying to have a chat with me too. Took about an hour in all. Got back to sleep at 5am. Luckily no one woke again till 7.45 so feel like Ive had some sleep.
Well lo's yelling for his lunch now so better go.
Take care all xxx

lilyloo · 12/06/2008 14:09

afternoon all am mneting instead of baby massage i had jut put dd on her changing mat on the floor and she has now come completely off it and is half way across the floor , it must be the huge thighs she takes after me
Simpson i dd always wakes herself for dream feed so not much off a dream feed i guess , she isn't a great sleeper though!

MM great news about the house!

Gingeme what a morning , poor you !

Thank goodness i am not to behind on the weaning then!

Better go dd is howling now !

Dh didn't get home until about 1am and said dinner was fab and the wines were even better...sadly, even though we could probably stretch to eating at the restaurant for a special occasion there's no way we could ever afford those wines without a 2nd mortgage ...! He was a bit worse for wear but did manage to fix our dishwasher before falling into bed (it got stuck mid-cycle full of dirty water and I couldn't get it to move on last night) so I was reasonably (well, a little bit) sympathetic to his sore head this morning!

He explained to the whole table (lots of clients) that he had to bring something home for his wife but none of the food was at all portable...although the 'maltesers' made of white chocolate filled with strawberry ice cream on a bed of dry ice sound amazing - I told him he should have managed that for me!!

Simpson - I'm the opposite of JKS...I regularly wake sleeping babies as I'm fairly (not rigidly) routine driven, so like to limit Tamara to two 2hour sleeps each day, with another short nap before dinner/bathtime. We wake her for her dream feed but keep the room dark (just use light in the hallway with the door a bit open), she sort of wakes up for the actual feed, drains the bottle then conks out as soon as I put her on my shoulder to burp her. The whole thing lasts about 10 minutes max and she's usually asleep again before I even get out of the room

Right, had better run to collect ds from nursery.

Hugs to all xxx

mixedmama · 12/06/2008 15:24

Hey ladies,.....

Filly- my sympathies re the GA.

Gingeme - your night sounds awful. Hope you are not too tired.

JKS - the other lady leaves on 27 June so will start from then. I am going to just let the ILs do the childcare for July as I dont want to pay nursery fees for August as we will be away for the whole month. When we come back they will both go to nursery for the short day 9-3 altho I think i will be able to pick them up by 2. Can you even do this or does it disrupt their day.

So jealous about the meet up - but since i am goign to be off for 4 whole weeks i have no allowance left, dont even have that much to start with.

simpson · 12/06/2008 18:57

Hi all,

Filly - we are pretty routine driven here I do wake sleeping babies too. Never let DD sleep for longer than 2 hrs in day unless ill or just had jabs. She is very good sleeper usually I think I will give her another few weeks to see if things improve first. When she wakes in the early hours it is only 10 mins to feed and she goes down ok.

The evening is nearly my own!!DS about to go to bed.

Oh quote of the day from DS "How do trees sleep mummy, do they have to take their leaves off!?!"

fillybuster · 12/06/2008 20:14

Simpson - brilliant quote! I told ds we were going to Devon on holiday this summer and he asked if we were going to see his grandpa (who died a few weeks ago) there. It took me a few minutes before the penny dropped....and I explained that Devon is not the same as Heavon !!

fillybuster · 12/06/2008 20:19

oops

nicky6 · 12/06/2008 21:17

simpson - i try not to wake charlie up for dream feed so she takes the bottle kind of half asleep.

The 4am wake up is quite common at this age apparently - nothing to do with hunger its to do with them being so much more stimulated by their surroundings and getting more mobile so it knocks their pattern a bit. From dreamfeed charlie normally slept through til 8-9am but recently 4.15am wake up crying but eventually goes back to sleep until the morning without a feed. Thats just what HV told me anyway.

Am hoping to make meet up - yes barristermum judging tests - as i will be applying later in the year. but looks like it will be ok.
