I know what you mean NL. When SIL has asked me my opinion, I've given wooly monologues about how "big the window of development can be" I've tried to be positive with them but you're right - it's hard for them not to worry.
Right definitely going bath now.

StealthPolarBear · 28/05/2008 22:15

Sounds as though you're going to be a busy Grandma oooggs!
leaky - sorry to hear about Eva's developmental delays, glad it sounds like they can do something about it. Can understand your BIL and SIL being worried She sounds a lovely baby.
IKWYM about seeing babies everywhere when you don't have yours - guess who was sat on the table next to us in the restaurant - yes, a baby of about 2!

elkiedee · 28/05/2008 23:28

Good to see you back NL

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2008 06:10

Morning everyone
Amazing how little sleep you need when it's all in one big chunk!

mamiguay · 29/05/2008 08:33

Morning! Hope you had a nice night in the end SPB.. what was the occasion of T staying with his grandparents, did you have a night out or something?

I am due to go visit my sister in a couple of weeks and will tuck N into bed on friday but then most likely not see him again until Monday morning I am feeling very apprehensive about it and most days I think about trying to get out of it but then I talk to my heavily preg. sis who is so excited about us having a bit of time alone together and I feel totally torn.

Mammyjo - sorry you have been let down re. your op, really hope something comes through soon x

Caz - for you about the appeal, that is really unfair on all of you.

NorthernLurker · 29/05/2008 08:56

Morning all

I've got the day off today
And the sun is shining
And B's eyes look much better
And our Sky thingy is being installed today
And I can get tidied up a bit........

mammyjo · 29/05/2008 09:25

Morning all!

NL, welcome back! Glad the house is fab and work is not to horrific. Should be a good sign that they have taken up a reference, have you been shortlisted for interview? They wouldn't normally call for references if they weren't planning to seriously consider you for a post (we wouldn't where I am anyway).
What is the PALS service you mentioned yesterday? Working in paediatrics we have no hassle with waiting lists, this experience has really openend my eyes to the adult services (or lack of).

SPB, hope you had a good evening in the end I thought about making a fuss about the op date but I really wasn't sure who I should be making a fuss to iykwim!

POTC, glad things are sorted out. Assuming it is in a good way for you xx

Leaky, poor little G. Have you got a syringe to give him the medicine? Can make things a little easier. F still fights me using one, but much easier than a spoon!

I have just phoned to speak to the man in charge about the new job. Haven't actually submitted my application yet as I need to clarify a couple of things. Typically he was out of the office but is due back by about 10am so will call again then. Fingers crossed!

NorthernLurker · 29/05/2008 09:43

PALS is Patient Advice and Liaison service - they field complaints, pass on positive feedback and act as an advocate for the patient. Their job is to find things out, talk to staff and patients and help staff and patients find solutions. They are really good - I work with ours quite a lot BUT I'm worrying now that you don't have them in your part of the world Ever considered moving?

Eddas · 29/05/2008 10:56

hi everyone, how are things? have read thread but in my usual crap manner have not retained anything

Another eventful week in the Eddas house. Went to collect dd from her friends house yesterday and ended up having to call the breakdown people. Something wrong with the brakes, as in feels like the handbrake is permenantly on it's in the garage as we speak. Am expecting it to be costly but we need the car oh well

I'm wondering if there will ever be a few weeks when something doesn't happen. Just normal home/work/sleep/eat some hope!!

Anyway enough doom and gloom. Fingers crossed it'll be sorted today and i'll be able to get to work tomorrow. I'm off next week so only one day in the office til 13th June am quite liking this one day in the office lark. Although I didn't go in last friday as wasn't feeling 100%

and I only have to get through today and it's not half term anymore the dc will be going to nursery tomorrow even if i can't get to work as we can get a bus to nursery

I think I have verbal diareha(how is that word spelt coz I know that's not right)

Eddas · 29/05/2008 11:00

dd is really irritating this am. She won't stop wittering, asking questions eandh is bringing her dds round, not sure what time as i said anytime since we're stuck in, but dd keeps on about what time we were going to soft play but with no car we can't get there. DD MUST run off some energy

Sorry, needed to tell someone

NorthernLurker · 29/05/2008 11:23

Hi Eddas - hope dd wraps up soon!

Well I've been brave and rung up about whether I was shortlisted for that job - and I have been!! It's a good job I rang up though as the interview is on Tuesday (gulp) No idea where my letter has got to but hurrah anyway!!

elkiedee · 29/05/2008 12:13

Ooh exciting good luck for Tuesday

oooggs · 29/05/2008 14:33

good luck for tuesday nl

katy - you were up early with no 'T' alarm clock

eddas - hope dd has run off some energy

Jack spent day home with daddy, very bad cough, Erin is quite happy to go to nursery on her own (different room from James) I don't think Jack would like it if it was the other way round. We I got home from work I don't know who was more tired, ds2 or dh

He is currently asleep and we will pick the other two up at 3.45pm

leakyR · 29/05/2008 17:00

Hi all

Feel exhausted this afternoon. G slept better last night. 19.30-5.20 then did hour at 8am. Think its PND, there's loads I could be doing but I cannot be arsed bothered.

He hates his medicine, I'm literally having to wrestle with him to get the syringe in his mouth. I've had an easier time giving medicine to the cat!

We had a picnic in the park at lunchtime and a wander round Bury. I still need to suss out where things are.

Good luck for Tuesday NL. I'd give you a job.

Hope your day got better Eddas

PillockOfTheCommunity · 29/05/2008 18:20

Hi all
I went to bed really early last night so didn't catch up, and can't get on at work anymore so I'm well behind!

Just popping on really to say SPB - you said your breastpump was broken, do you want me to send you mine? I've finished feeding Joe completely now (he takes all of a mouthful at night from me so stopped it completely while we were away ) so I don't need it, and was only going to offer it on the 'for free' bit of MN, so you'd be welcome to it

PillockOfTheCommunity · 29/05/2008 18:20

I think I have if I can remember her RL name! Off to look, thanks for keeping us all informed POTC.

oooggs · 29/05/2008 19:48

blimey yes she is must be something in the water

Eddas · 29/05/2008 20:11

Need to ask a question. DS has a rash on his body, more than likely a reaction to the MMR , now the nurse warned about this and said it is not infectious and not to worry. But ds is due in nursery tomorrow. he is ok with it, no temp(did at weekend but not since) so can I still take him? He is a little grizzly but i think that's down to teeth aswell as when you look in his mouth he looks like he's getting a good few IYSWIM.

I really can't take tomorrow off work. I could see if MIL is available to have him? I called the nursery this evening and said ds has a rash due to the MMR, will he still be ok to go tomorrow and they said yes.

I don't know what to do.

Child related dilemmas

PillockOfTheCommunity · 29/05/2008 20:22

I've sent M in similar circumstances Eddas, and would do the same with J

OP posts:
Eddas · 29/05/2008 20:25

Really POTC? my gut reaction is to send him as it has to be the MMR rash(have found pics and looks like it, plus timing etc) He is ok, a little off food, a little more tired but nothing that can be passed on, which i wouldn't want to do. They will look at him when he gets there. I would leave work if he needs picking up, but would rather go to work first IYSWIM.

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2008 20:59

Well done NL - good luck!
That's really kind of you Pillock, but I think it's a part anyway, ad I have a spare. Ended up hand expressing and got loads!!
I only really need to express to relieve engorgement anyway
No advice Eddas, just sorry to hear your DS has a rash

elkiedee · 29/05/2008 21:10

Eddas, you've talked to the nursery and they're ok about it, their response seems to match your gut reaction, and POTC would do the same.

Hope tomorrow goes ok for you.

D has a set of jabs next week - though I can't remember, I think MMR may be 4 weeks later.

oooggs · 29/05/2008 21:18

dts have MMR on wednesday next week

how you feeling elkie?

eddas - I'd take him to nursery and run like hell they will ring if they need to
