He's a Charlie

Eddas · 26/05/2008 21:11

cd, how did you like lovely maidstone?

I love the name Charlie. For a boy or girl, but couldn't have it for dc. dh has an ex called Charlie

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 21:32

mine is a Charles

Which is odd, as Harry is just a Harry
his middle names are Stephen Benjamin (my dad and my brother)

at the time he was going to be the last one, so i wanted to use up all the names I liked!

originally I liked the name for ds1, but dh wouldn't let me use it then, however he was prepared to compromise, as my 1st choice for Charlie was Benjamin, but he wouldn't let me call him that (long story to do with his parents - not sure if I have told you it???) so then I tried Reuben (was still planning on calling him Ben for short ), but he said "do you still like Charlie?" I said I would think about it, but he took the older dc out to buy presents for him, and came back with a money box with Charlie on it, so charlie it is!

geordieminx · 26/05/2008 21:40

Charles wouldnt have sounded right with our surname, and dp already has a Ben.

I had a list of names a mile long - infact I think I went through a whole book of names and dp hated every single one - I kid you not!! I cant remember how we came up with Charlie but it was quite early on, and that was his name from 20 weeks when we found out he was a he.

It really suits him - he is cheeky Charlie.

Although he gets Toad as a nickname quite a lot, so much so he actually turns his head when you say it

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2008 21:57

can't believe how much your babies all sleep
T in bed at about 8.30, awake at 7.30 (although for the last few days we have had to wake him...or not if we've had a lie in too, so don't think that helps) then usually has an hour and a half in the morning, nothing really in the afternoon. Today, he hasn't had a sleep at all and has been fighting bedtime.
Anyway, just having some choc and a bit of an MN then an early night, hopefully.

Sexonlegs · 26/05/2008 22:14

Right ladies. Have updated some pics on to my profile.

Eddas, glad ds is seeming better.

Am off to bed, so see you gorgeous ladies tomorrow. xx

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 07:38

Morning - bleurgh - feeling yukky - not enough sleep ..... When DH has to go out of area for work he sets his alarm clock for 6am and then keeps hitting snooze forever I am not a good sleeper anyway and this just drives me crazy!!

I felt so sorry for the older DCs as well because they were obviously totally shattered after yesterday's little jaunt to Maidstone so DH had to wake them up to get them dressed to take them to nursery, poor things! Soooo unusual to have to wake them up, am annoyed we missed out on that opportunity for a little lie-in P still sleeping though, bless her.

I feel so bleurgh. Bleurgh. Bleurgh. Bleurgh.

Just loking at your pics SOL - B's loks fab - VERY pick Loving the pic of her grinning away and the one of K & B on the slide is cute My older 2 always want to take P on the slides when we go to the park, but she always howls

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 07:39

Should say that B's room is VERY pink, SOL

liath · 27/05/2008 08:02

Morning all.

SOL, I love that shot of your girls on the slide!

CD, hope you feel less bleargh soon.

DH had a fabulous time yesterday and came back like a dog with two tails. There was a film crew out with them filming for one of those "Helicopter morons Heroes" type documentaries so he was even more chuffed about that.....

Kids very whingy today, will need to get out of the house somewhere.

oooggs · 27/05/2008 08:58

morning - crap nights sleep, couldn't get comfy, dcs slept well even though ds2 has man flu

sol - love your photos - aren't they all growing so quick

dippy - hope you feeling better soon

liath - glad dh had a good time

right no rest for the wicked

mamiguay · 27/05/2008 09:00

Thanks again for all the offering up of routines and suggestions I disappeared last night because N decided that 9pm was a fine time to wake up and was very merrily wide awake until 10.30pm! He had a fever though which did come down pretty quickly after stripping him and giving him calpol. He then slept in our bed and woke up screaming at 2 hourly intervals Can only think it is his teeth though none look about to pop through.

The morning nap is gone, I don't think I explained myself well. He used to have an a.m. nap and if at home ill or at the weekend still does. But when he's at nursery he drops it and sleeps 1ish to 2ish. We can't draw that out any longer because dh picks him up at 2.15pm so often has to wake him up to take him home.

I will really push for him to have a sleep about 5.30pm when I get home and maybe give him his dinner when he wakes up before he gets too tired.

It's just constant guesswork, isn't it? Anyway work getting busy again now the UK contingent are back in the office so I'd better dash but hope to pop on tonight to say hi.

cazboldy · 27/05/2008 09:59

Dippy - my dh does that when he is tired - but at 3.45 am!!!!!

SOL - gorgeous picture of your girlies on the slide!

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 10:44

OK, feeling slightly better now Caz Sorry for moaning!

Doobydoo · 27/05/2008 11:10

Of f to look a t a school for ds1 today. The lifeboat people are giving a talk so I can chat with headmistress while he is watchingI will have M on my hip though and friend is coming round with her mindees soon a baby and toddler so M won't have had his nap and will be bad tempered wish me luck. Then ds1's friend is coming for tea.I am knackered already.
Have a good day all

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 11:40

I feel knackered just reading all that Dooby

I am just catching up on work bits 'n' bobs while P is napping, then I need to get her up, give her lunch and hot-foot it to nursery. Looking forward to this pm Having lunch with PG friend then got to buzz into town to see my friend as it is her 1st day in her new shop and pay in cheques for work, then I might just have to stop in Costa for a coffee and a read of my book

elkiedee · 27/05/2008 13:06

Good luck Dooby.

And yes, Dippy, I hope you do get your coffee/reading break - what book are you reading?

cazboldy · 27/05/2008 13:28

Good Luck Dooby!

and have a good afternoon Dippy

Got ds1 packed and sent off with my brother to look after the cattle at the Suffolk Show we are off there on Thursday

this afternoon, I am going round Harry's teachers, who we are friendly with. She is a sheep and beef farmer, and we are going to feed her 4 orphan lambs!

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 14:06

So much for my nice afternoon. Sigh. It does rain, but it pours in DippyLand. Got to nursery in time, hung up P's coat and bag, went to hand her to keyworker and lo and behold VOMIT EVERYWHERE!!!! She's been slightly off colour (cold, whinging, clingy etc) for about a month now, so I hoping this just the culmination of it and we can be ill, get over it and go back to being our normal happy self!!!? So anyway, no nice afternoon Stuck indoors with vile little vomit monster instead Ok OK so it was the vomit that was vile, not P .... she is still cute, even though what came out of her was not!!

Sigh.

FYI I am reading Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. I don't normal "do" war novels / films; but it is good so far. What are you reading atm?

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 14:07

Should be "doesn't rain .....

elkiedee · 27/05/2008 14:36

I'm reading a "knitlit" book - The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. It's a good read but I preferred the other one I just read "Divas Don't Knit" by Gil McNeil, more. The one I'm reading now is American and sometimes too schmaltzy, I think English chicklit writers do humour better.

I've borrowed Suite Francaise from my mum - I've always quite liked reading war novels, even the very male ones which are very far from what I mostly read, though I guess I think of this as a more civilian one.

elkiedee · 27/05/2008 14:36

Sorry to hear about the vomit Dippy

Doobydoo · 27/05/2008 15:22

EEk sorry re vomit Dippy.
Well ds1 likes the school.26 kids in total in the school.Quite laid back but plenty to keep his brain occupied i think.
Am at mo about prospective landlored. He wants 2 months deposit and 1 months rent as he wants to carry out some work on the property. He isn't short of cash and i can cope with rent being abit more than it should be as its in a lovely position but the house is quite old fashioned.Dp is going to go mad when i tell him so i don't hink we will be moving there.TBH..He would need to do the work anyway as house needs some tlc.Feel like we are being taken for suckers
Have made home made pizzas for the boys.M is grizzling as had no sleep was fab at the school tho.
It is too early for wine!
That is a book i wouldn't mind reading Dippy.I have just read Room At The Top which was great.
Don't know what reading mood i am in now tho.

StealthPolarBear · 27/05/2008 15:23

hi eevryone

CaptainDippy · 27/05/2008 15:26

Glad it is nice school Dooby, but @ your landlord!!

P just woken up, poor love so think I'll take her for a little stroll.

Doobydoo · 27/05/2008 15:37

Enjoy your walk P hope you feel better
Am dreading telling dp he will go madarooney!
I shall be very surprised if we move there now. They can't rent it really as everyone wants modern which is what makes me really cross. Also he says he may have to spend a couple of thousand euros but they wouls be getting way more than that in rent for the year.Have to keep looking.x
