Got a rare spare moment to myself, so thought I'd pop in and say hi to everyone !!

Lovely day here, nothing much planned today just a bit of a lazy day really .

CONGRATULATIONS to the mummies-to-be-again . Good luck with the pregnancies [still no envy here].

Have decided that car boot sales are the way forward in clearing out all the junk unwanted and unused items/clothing/crap and making a spare bit of cash on the side, not too impressed with the 4am starts though . Have managed 3 now whooppeee!

Back to work tomorrow, am thinking of job hunting, but maybe when T is slightly older and things a bit more settled. Am thinking about a total change in direction this time, not quite sure what yet ?

T is still a cutie. Walking everywhere, not yet running (thank goodness), the occasional "daddy", laughs like Barry White and is starting to get really picky with his food which is not a good sign and soooo frustrating to see half of it thrown all over the floor .

Ermmm think that's it - really should be doing "other things" rather than sitting here.

Happy Bank Holiday - what's left of it !!

MWAH/kisses/hugs !!!

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 13:38

sorry I forgot the other pg ladies

thanks GM for putting us straight!

mamiguay · 26/05/2008 18:32

good evening! Congrats GT! such happy news!

Hope you all had a nice bank holiday! Wasn't a holiday here but the office was so quiet with all the english clients away that it felt very skivey indeed.

Feel relieved to read Pinions' post about fussy eating, felt moved to make a special effort to come on tonight after yet ANOTHER night of N crying the second he is sat down to eat and wailing through every mouthful until we give up He used to be such an easy eater, scoffed everything we put before him. Now he refuses everything and even things we know he likes get a couple of bites before the tears start. We go give him his own spoon but he chews on it and then chucks it away. I often end up offering him a second choice (sandwich or something quick to make) in the hope of getting something into him but that's always refused too.

Tonight he ate 4 spoons of pasta and sauce and I didn't even offer him dessert. He obviously wanted a b'feed and has now conked out on the sofa is it a nap? is it bedtime? who knows?

He started adaptation at nursery at the start of April but with one illness and another we are still not in a regular routine. At least he has started sleeping there which he resisted forever in a day. It means he wakes at approx 7am, sleeps at nursery 1pm-2.30pm (at home he would have a mid morning nap and this later sleep would be his second and last of the say) and then just about makes it to bed about 7.30 without collapsing. I think this is the problem at dinner, he's too tired.

I think we need to get him to have a late afternoon nap about 5.30pm-6.00pm, then he would make it to 9pm bedtime and hopefully sleep later. Is this wishful thinking?

Sorry to burst back in with a moan, just really needed to get all of those thoughts out of my head and see what you ladies think. Fingers crossed he won't come down with anything else for a while, manages 2 straight weeks in nursery and I guess we'll have a fighting chance of getting into some kind of routine.

mammyjo · 26/05/2008 19:29

Mamiguay, think you might be right about the tiredness but it is difficult to sort out quickly. What about putting picky bits of food out in bowls for him to take as he passes? I know he is still young, but F loves the idea of picking things up and feeding herself. I know it may be a bit random (how much he actually eats), but may help to kick his appetite back in.

How about getting him to bed earlier in the evenings? F is in bed by half six every night and will sleep 12 hours or sometimes even more. She doesn't nap a huge amount in the day, half to an hour normally but it doesn't matter when she is in bed early iyswim. I was just thinking that if he doesn't go to bed until 9pm then up by 7am he only gets 10 hours which isn't a huge amount for a young baby I don't think.

Not sure if that is any help at all, but hope you get the idea of what I am talking about!

oooggs · 26/05/2008 19:34

Erin sleeps 6.45pm - 7am, 9.30am - 10.15am & 2.30pm - 3.15pm ish - she likes a good 12 ish hours at night and two smaller naps during the day.

Jack............... no comment

I don't spoon feed them anymore just chuck food in a bowl and put it in front of them with a spoon (which they rarely use)

give Jack his due he has slept 12 hours the past 3 nights but likes a longer nap 10.45-12.15 in the middle of the day

mamiguay · 26/05/2008 19:44

Thanks for the input, no he normally sleeps 11hours approx 7.30pm or 8pm til 6.30am or 7am. Then if at home he will sleep again 9.30am-11ish and then an early afternoon nap for 30mins/1.5hours depending on his mood. But he starts nursery at 9.30am i.e. exactly when he wants to go back to sleep. Then he obviously holds out and holds out until he can't stay awake any longer. This is why I was thinking maybe a late afternoon nap and later bedtime would have him up nearer 8-8.30am and not so long in the morning before his first nap.

Sigh.

A later bedtime would fit in better with our life anyway, culturally we are very out of step having a baby that goes to bed at 7.30pm, family and friends think we are nuts, I'm sure they think we force him into bed and don't really believe he set this routine out for himself. LOL. Most babies here don't go to bed til 9.30-10pm.

Mammyjo, that's not a bad idea, what kind of food do you give for 'grazing' though?

How have I managed the last couple of months without you ladies??!

geordieminx · 26/05/2008 19:46

C sleeps 6.30 til 6.30, then 9am til 10am. He sometimes has half an hour at unch time but if its any later than 2 its a battle to get him to bed.

Its been glorious here for a change... park/zoo this morning, pub lunch then home to play in the paddling pool!!!

In the middle of a mountain of ironi9ng - will be back later

xxx

oooggs · 26/05/2008 19:48

no way gm!!!!!! we have had down pouring rain all day glad you had a good one

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 19:56

same here Oooggs..... we got soaked clearing up the horse muck in the paddock - not the most pleasant of jobs in nice weather!

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 19:58

also do the same as you re putting the food in front of Molly and letting her get on with it, although she is very dainty, and tries to eat like a big girl!

she doesn't like getting dirty hands

Molly is rarely in bed before 8.30

up at about 7.45 (but only because I wake her)

sleep usually 11.30 - 12.30 ish

again about 5ish for about half an hour

geordieminx · 26/05/2008 20:15

God I wish I could get C to sleep til 7.45

It was 5.30 this morning.... Although he was poorly bless him. He is constantly pulling at his ears, I took him to the drs on Friday, but she said it was just teeth.

Its been nice most of the weekend up here -quite windy but at least the sun was shining!

Off to my mums tomorrow for a few days, back on Thursday, then off to see dp's family on Friday, leaving C with them on Saturday as we are off to a wedding on Saturday night in Aberdeen - I will be ratted after 2 glasses of wine!!!

2HotCrossBunnies · 26/05/2008 20:25

Good evening ladies! It's ben an age since I last posted but I do lurk every now and again. Congrats to the pregnant amongst us . It's lovely news and I admit to feeling pretty broody myself!

Sorry to see a few in the posts. Hope the poorly ones are on the mend.

mamiguay - i agree that N might be too tired to eat. I follow GF's routine with the boys - with my own tweaking here and there. However I think that there are plenty of other "routines" that work. Personally I think the total number of hours asleep in a 24hr period is important - at this stage DS2 is sleeping approx 11.5-12hrs over night and 2.5-3 hrs in the day. He wakes somewhere between 6.30 and 7.30, naps for 20-30 mins between 9.30 and 10.15 ish (don't let him sleep later than 10.15) and from 1-2.30/3. He's nearing the stage when he will drop down to 1 nap a day - some days he already is. I think this should be the sleep after lunch so he's not too tired during the afternoon - this is why I deliberately limit the morning nap. You could try to encourage N to have a longer sleep mid afternoon (perhaps cut out morning nap altogether) and see if he lasts longer in the afternoon? Good luck!

Bramshott · 26/05/2008 20:27

Helloooooo. Wow - congrats to GT! Will keep fingers and everything crossed for you!

O is getting very picky with food now too, and won't be spoonfed so I just give her what we are having cut into small bits and she eats it with her fingers. Went to Pizza Express for lunch today and she packed away garlic dough balls and half a margherita!

Am embarrassed to say that I slept in until 9.30 this morning . Not that my children did but N will play happily in her room and O will quite often burble away in her cot (although I think she didn't wake very early as it was 3.00 before she'd have another nap).

Haven't caught up with anything else and now rushing off again!

goodtiming · 26/05/2008 20:44

cheers Bramshott

I am shattered so off to bed

did I mention that I will be 12 weeks on the weekend of some 'huge' family occasion, the one I wasn't going to go to. Well I think we all may just pop along now

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 20:53

gt - that's naughty

GM - but she goes to bed later than C

and my Cis always first awake - usually about half 6!

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 20:54

Bramshott - I was awake at 7, but none of us got up until about 9 as we had a power cut so couldn't see the point!

geordieminx · 26/05/2008 20:55

It must be a Charlie thing!!!

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 20:57

does he have a middle name?

cazboldy · 26/05/2008 20:57

Is your C a Charlie or a Charles on his Birth Certificate?

CaptainDippy · 26/05/2008 21:04

Evening ladies!

Eddas · 26/05/2008 21:05

gt i hadn't realised you meant that ocassion may aswell pop in

Re sleeping, ds is in quite a set routine, all of his own making or really he fits in with dd because he has too. He sleeps 12 hours at night from about 6.30-6.30, it does vary but not by much. Then he'll sleep from around 9.45 to 11.45, which is whilst dd is at preschool. He will then sometimes have a small nap for half hour in the afternoon. If he misses his morning nap i just put him to bed in the afternoon and he sleeps for a couple of hours.

Children are a nightmare when they get overtired, dd quite often gets that way and is such a joy

ds seems better this evening, not so hot

Sexonlegs · 26/05/2008 21:06

Evening ladies

Lovely to see Bugmum, Pinions and hotlips! Must be something about the Bank Holiday - you are all creeping out of the woodwork!!

Liath, how did your dh get on?

GT, sleep well flower xx

Mav, sorry you are having issues. K is a really good eater as long as she is hungry. She is desperate to feed herself, and I do let her have a spoon and just get on with it with pudding, but not her main meal .
Hope you get in to a good routine soon.

Eddas, hope your little man is ok.

Brain now emptied .

Need to Tesco order, so back later. God I know how to live!!

CaptainDippy · 26/05/2008 21:07

My routine is the same as Eddas' Even more reason to meet up!
