I put ds into pyjamas last night, 6-9 mth ones and didn't bother with a vest as it was quite warm. We've had a few colder days at the beginning of the week but it has warmed back up again, was really nice yesterday but dull and grey today.
Have bought some more pyjamas, 4 pairs of short ones and 2 pair2 of long ones to go with the 2 pairs of longs that a friend had bought for me, which he wore one of last night. He does look very cute in them.

Oh there is more pics on my profile - must get DH to upload the photo of ds in his door bouncer as well!

Amani · 30/05/2008 16:13

Think I am up for plonker of the year award today

Grandma phoned me to say my cousin had a baby girl 2 months premature and although not serious, the baby is not too good, so please say a prayer for her. The thing is we conversed in Creole and my understanding of the language is not 100% so I took it to be that their baby had passed away . Sooo, I phoned my mum, sister-in-law and cousin and passed on the news (got everyone crying etc) and then my aunt called a couple of hours ago to say 'What are you talking about??' the baby is alive just not too good.

Think I might just go and hide somewhere for a bit.....

Amani · 30/05/2008 16:15

BT - love the smiliy face in the bouncer

claireybee · 30/05/2008 16:26

Oh Amani! Sounds like the sort of thing I do, I remember once in Botswana I had a meeting set up and the guys secretary called to cancel saying he was late. I said something along the lines of oh ok shall we rearrange? she said "No, you are misunderstanding, he is LATE" Me "So is he on his way then just delayed?" Her "No he is LATE" Me Her "He has passed away" Me "Oh shit!"

Amani · 30/05/2008 16:51

Clairy - glad it's not just me then...seriously am thinking about hiding from my family for the next few days (weeks ?? maybe) until this has been forgotton...

Amani · 30/05/2008 16:53

Looking at everyone's pictures today...Clairy your DD looks sooo cute with your LO...

Time for you to put some pics up Mrs!

Ambi · 30/05/2008 17:13

sorry about crazy night posting. I had an awful dream and could not sleep, though the rest ofcthe household was snoring away nicely.
Oh what a blunder amani, it'll be one of those stories recounted in years to come. Good news on the job front for you. I've been luckily allowed to work from home so that will start in the summer.
DD has finally outgrown her 0-3 months clothes so more spending needed. Blimey they're costly little things aren't they?
Coil fitting went ok, doc kept asking if it hurt, well now childbirth outweighs all pain! So not really in comparison.
Have a good weekend gals and babies.

Lizzer · 30/05/2008 18:14

Hello!

Must be quick as ds about to drop off at the boob and this would be a BAD thing for tonight's bedtime (not that there is one tbh but usually between 8 and 9)

Clairey, oh no, poo-er you (sorry couldn't resist ) Bless your dd for trying to help clear it up, so practical Still amazed your ds can hold his own weight on all fours..ds is rolling, sort of sitting and pushing up but hasn't even thought about anything else!

LOL ambi, no nothing will ever be THAT painful or intrusive ever again eh!

Just have to say congratulations to those who've made it to now-ish excl bfing, big ups to you all! We're still on between 4 and 6 bfs a day but i feel it dropping off a lot, I offer more than he asks now which is nice though...

Ah well he's wide awake and trying to type/eat keyboard.
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Caz10 · 30/05/2008 19:41

Hi all!

Lizzer my dd loves to bang away on the keyboard, I am feeling guilty as it is practically her fave toy, obviously too much time on MN in her formative months..

Lovely to hear everyone's news!

Ours in brief...

sleep - none!! getting so so so bad here...dd has always fed through the night but mostly 3/4hrly which is fine...now we can be anything from 3hrly to 1hrly - taking massive feeds every time so don't think it's just for comfort or whatever...it is killing me and obviously the thought solids keeps coming to mind...

feeding - still bf-ing, can't actually believe it when it was so hard to start with - she is still a boob monster but it is a quick and energetic/acrobatic feed these days, so less time for MN - she jumps around, looks about, pulls hair, fingers up my nose, etc etc etc!! Think we'll bf until nature takes it's course and either she goes off it or my supply drops when I go back to work...ideally would like to maintain a morning and night feed but we'll see!

dundee (I think it was you?) - is your lo taking a bottle yet? My dd is still refusing, we try EVERY bloody day, sigh.

We are just a week or so off 6mths, going to try to hold out as long as poss but think we may be a few days early, as I have a long morning in work 2 days after she turns 6mths - I reckon if she's still refusing a bottle then the next best thing will be if DH can at least spoon in some porridge or something made up with EBM to get her through the morning

work - anyone else back yet? Good luck to those of you who have it coming up soon! I was due back in 3 weeks but have chickened out and going back in August now, just doing a few days here and there befor the hols to get a wee bit of money in as it's going to be tight...but worth it I hope! Means dd will be 8.5mths rather than 6 - feels better! Although it will be hard whenever I do it!

Caz10 · 30/05/2008 19:49

beckle sorry about dh's job...horrible isn't it? I was off on long term sick for a while a few years ago and they threatned me at every turn...not a nice feeling but fingers something positive will come of it.

claireybee lol to your poo story! (sorry!)

amani - fantastic news re your work! I am going back FT but hoping to put in an application for job share in the new year - can't wait!

Oh - rolling/sitting/etc - dd loves to flip up onto her side but then looks a bit worried about going face down, and flops back onto her back instead! Def no crawling, in fact she still hates tummy time, but loves to be held up bouncing on her feet. Sitting quite well in high chair/bumbo but keels over if not propped up!

lizzer did you decide re tripp trapp? Was that you in fact? I'm all confused. Anyway we got cherry with art stripes, it's very cheery!

loucee hello and remember please don't buy a door bouncer unless you really can't wait hee hee! I'll get dh to try ours this weekend

loucee · 30/05/2008 23:06

Hi

DH is back to work on monday so now we're back online I'll be posting a lot more!

Caz mine is also a lindam door bouncer and yes I would be very glad of yours if it doesn't fit your house but I would have to buy it off you or at the very least send you some items in exchange (I have two brand new sets of Babylegs you could have).
Glad you have been able to postpone your return date to work, takes the pressure off a wee bit doesn't it. How are you fixed next week - do you fancy meeting up for a coffee or lunch? Haven't seen many posts from Anna so will text her to see if she's around as well.

Amani well look at it on the positive side, at least it was a better situation than you had told to your family, least they were relieved when they found out the baby is alive.

Clairey just replied on your thread in the feeding forum, ahhh how cute!

macdoodle · 30/05/2008 23:08

Where does everyone get their grobags - I have 2 that I was given as gifts which are now both too heavy and too small but they are so bloody expensive ??

BouncingTurtle · 31/05/2008 07:36

Tesco and Asda do them.... I got mine from Tesco, think there about £10-12 each.

BouncingTurtle · 31/05/2008 08:02

DS slept through from 7:15 to 1:15am!!!
I went up to bed at 10:15, he was still asleep, but stirring slightly, so did shush-pat (stroking his head rather than patting), and went to bed myself. DH said he came up to say he was staying up a bit longer and we were both fast asleep!
Pity it was the only 6 hour stretch he managed! He stirred at 2.30am, gave him his dodie, then woke up again an hour later for a feed, so fed and put him into bed with us, then he slept until around 6am.
I'm just wondering whether I should try introducing a dream feed now at say 9.30pm? IS it possible to give him some EBM in a bottle while he is still lying in his cot?

fifisworld · 31/05/2008 10:35

BT - I used to dream feed ds1 when he went through a stage of early wakings, used to just give him a couple of ounces.
Just leave him in his cot and put the bottle in his mouth, he'll just think he's got his dummy and probably wont even wake up

buzzybee · 31/05/2008 12:22

Hello all
BT and Macdoodle. Thanks for asking after DD1. I am very proud of her. In the end she has not started at the "One Day School" this term as we decided she is not quite mature enough - very easily distracted (although I sometimes wonder if that's just boredom?). Will revisit again next term or may even leave it until the beginning of next year (school years here start in Feb). She's only just 6 after all.
I've been back at work 4 weeks now 3 days per week and its really not too bad. Each is kind of a break from the other if that makes sense. Helps that I never work 2 days in a row!
DD2 now able to sit up on her own unassisted for 10-20 secs - usually folds slowly forwards which is quite funny to watch poor poppet!
We have a Tripp Trapp rip-off and they are great, highly recommended. DD1 was still using hers until last week when I converted it back for baby use now that DD2 is big enough. So far the only thing that she's slurped down with a passion is pear and banana and as someone said I don't want to get her in the habit of eating sweet things only!
Took her swimming again today - actually my Mum took DD2 into the baby pool while I swam with DD1 which worked really well. Have been neglecting poor DD1's swimming the last few months and she was coming on really well before that so good to get back into it.
Birthday party season here - 1 every weekend for the next little while. Actually quite good given its winter!
Lizzer - we had the kidney scan last week but yet to get back the results. My intuition tells me its much the same - i.e. still a bit dilated but nothing serious enough to justify intervention and we'll continue a watching brief. Will let you know when I hear more.

claraquitetirednow · 31/05/2008 14:59

Hi everyone - sorry not to reply to personal messages, just in a rush, I'm off away tonight for the first night since Martha was born! Hopefully my dh will cope on his own with two, he's only ever done it with dd1 once so it'll be a good experience for him. She had her "bad" night last night (I ended up sleeping in bed with her as the only way to get some sleep) so hopefully that means she's due a good night tonight.

Anyway I'm having dinner in Oxford tonight and then staying with a friend. My dd1 keeps saying "I will miss you" but I think she realises I'll be home tomorrow!

Hope you're all having nice weekends.

BouncingTurtle · 31/05/2008 15:38

Have fun tonight Claraq!

Just got a letter from Surestart confirming a place on Tiny Signers - starting Friday 18th April.
I'll just jump in my time machine then

claireybee · 01/06/2008 17:23

How was your night Clara?

LOL BT, how silly! Hope you get a place on one that hasn't already been and gone.

Is anyone else stupidly hungry ALL THE TIME? I just can't stop eating at the moment, I suppose that where DS is still exclusively breastfed he must be taking quite a bit from me but still!

macdoodle · 01/06/2008 17:58

oh god me too eat eat eat cannot stop
Am desperately trying to lose weight for sisters wedding next sat - have been going to gym walking loads but starving all the time and fruit and veg just does not do it
Who says you lose weight when BF not bloody me thats for sure !

BouncingTurtle · 01/06/2008 19:26

Same here - have been an absolute pig this weekend!!

claraquitetirednow · 02/06/2008 09:09

I lost about half a stone when I STOPPED breastfeeding - I think your body holds onto some fat so it can use that for the baby if necessary!

I had a great night out - we had a couple of drinks before we went out, a (very expensive!) cocktail before we went to the restaurant, then a delicious meal with some more wine, back to the house and resisted more alcohol (saint emoticon), went to bed sometime around midnight, was woken by the dawn chorus about 4am but in the end slept until about 7.30am - bliss! The best thing was just rolling back over in bed and being able to close my eyes and go back to sleep in the morning.

And as my friend doesn't have children we also had breakfast in peace.

Hi all! Well a bizarre thing happened yesterday, dp officially asked me for his hand in marriage (we'd discussed things before a lot but never had a proposal) I've got a ring and everything! Thought I'd just want a quiet wedding but now i'm thinking otherwise

We went out for the afternoon, just me and dp, for the 1st time since ds was born! Ds was fine with my mum and dad (its just me, i'm so rubbish at leaving my babies, dd was 18m old by the time i went away for the night, i think i'm just a worrier at heart ) That said I'm off out for dinner and to watch SATC movie on thurs with my friend-can't wait for my first night out, we will be discussing weddings a lot as hers was so lovely...

And in other great news we got a (free) dishwasher this weekend (dp's work connections) Yipee-its the 1st time i've had one and i'm in luurve

Glad you had a good time ClaraQ, very restrained on the drinking-I think i'd have had the worst hangover ever if let loose

Clairey, oh yes still troughing for england here but I definitely have lost all but half a stone of baby weight (think your point is v valid there clara) but I reckon if i start actually trying to cut back (again, lol) it will come off, i'll have to be really careful as ds's feeds start to drop off after 6m though. .. Have to be in bikini in 7 weeks

Caz10, yeah t'was me asking about tripp trapp, me and dp are having a disagreement about colour (i want natural, he wants bright red ) Think we'll order one this week though... do you love yours?

Buzzy, thanks for keeping me posted on your dd2's scan-fingers crossed for the outcome. Ikwym about work being a break from homelife and viceversa, i'm looking fwd to going back a bit more now

...Wow i just keeping catching sight of this sparkling ring on my left hand....

lots of monday loveliness to you all
