re ex bf, we have started a few solids, baby ice, carrot n apple, no real routine with bf, but give solids at 12 and 5, just bf on demand stil, but kind of falling into a routine of
7am - bf
10 - bf and sleep
12.00 - baby rice and apple followed by bf and sleep
3.30 - bf and sleep
5pm - bf the veg
6.30 - bf then sleep

also usually wakes about 3am for a feed

this has been going great for the last few wakes, but since fri he seems to have a bug which has blown this out the wndow.

does this sound like a normal bug - projectile vomit on fri (early evening), runny nappies sat and sun, projectile vomit again tonight and and runny nappies, was crying loads fri and sat, but happier in himself yesterday and today, altho had a big sick tonight. we visited family last week and the 1 year old has it, so im hoping its a bug???going to doc in the morning. he's been off his solids (only having first tastes anyway) but stil bf (altho not as much)my mum reckons just a bug, makes me fel sick seeing him like that

fifisworld · 27/05/2008 12:59

Hello...hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
Haven't caught up yet
Ethan s just had his last set of injections until he's 1, he's about 6 weeks behind with them as the receptionist mucked up his first appointment so have had to wait until now.

Re Routine....we dont have a routine for feeds really, its usually

6.30am - Bottle then back to sleep until..
9.00am - Baby cereal
11.30am - Bottle then sleep
2pm- Bottle
5.30pm - Bottle
7pm - Pureed veg etc, sometimes a top up off milk depending on how much tea he's ate, then bed.

This can go out the window if we are out though as he tends to sleep more when he's being pushed around.
No teeth yet but he's going mad with teething and is constantly soaked with dribbles.

skidaddle · 27/05/2008 14:09

bouncing - grrrr i can;t make this meet-up eithr - going to Manchester to visit my mum while DH puts in a new kitchen Please keep teeling em about the meet-ups - i really would genuinely like to come! And have fun on saturday

kelbel - it does sound like a normal bug but I would go to the doc if it goes on for more than a few days, just to be sure. It's awful when they're ill, isn't it?

Have stopped giving DS solids now! Have been feeling so bad about it and he hardly eats anything anyway - he had nothing but BM yesterday and slept 7.30-4am!! (usually wakes every 2-3 hours) Feel much happier about it and there are only a couple of weeks to go until he's 26 weeks anyway

Is anyone else close to 26? Caz? You must only have about a week to go - is that right?

BouncingTurtle · 27/05/2008 14:26

Ahh Skid, don't feel bad! I did the same, gave ds some baby rice, but he just isn't ready.
You can't lose by hanging on a couple more week. DS will be 22 weeks on Thursday and I'll be starting again when he 25 weeks.
Will definitely keep you apprised of meetups, enjoy Manchester!

Fifi - hurrah, no more jabs until he is 1! Not fun, are they! Hope the little tyke is ok.

DS was soooo funny yesterday, his dodie fell out as he was lying on his blanket, so he rolled onto his side, grabbed it so it was pointing up and managed to grab it with his mouth, then used his hand to push it in!!
He is very clever with it, pulls it out of his mouth, waves it around then pops it straight back in. If only he would do it at night

fifisworld · 27/05/2008 15:00

Bouncing - Ethans like that with his dummy, he can put it back in if he's sitting up in his bouncy chair, but not if he's lying down, he goes cock eyed when he tries it lying down

fifisworld · 27/05/2008 15:01

I would have oved to go to the meet up....ive just said i'd go out with SIL on saturday though..having another night in town...i hope this one goes better than the last

Amani · 27/05/2008 16:14

Just popping on to say a quick 'hi', not been on for a while as I'e had family around and lots of things going on.

How are you all? did you have a nice b/h weekend?

Amani · 27/05/2008 16:20

BT and Skid - started to give DD2 some carrots (21 weeks) and she loves it - she was like a little vacum cleaner and just sucked it all up (made her poo come out orange though)

Amani · 27/05/2008 16:21

BT - DD2 pulls off inthe middle of feeds to see what DD1 is doing or just to give me a big grin - melts my heart...

Amani · 27/05/2008 16:24

Caz - hope you got some more sleep.

whoops sorry for the numerous small posting - don't know wht, think I'm feeling a bit as I am a bit sugard up (ate a big bag of Malteasers).

Oh, DH next month - thinking of getting him a Wii, then will try and persaude him to buy the Wii FIT

claraquitetirednow · 27/05/2008 16:42

Hi Amani - I have just ordered a Wii but can't get a Wii Fit anywhere for love nor money! So shout if you see one for sale!!!

Everyone else - here's hope for all of you whose LO's are going through a bad sleeping patch. After all my worries about going away for the weekend and having to sleep in the same room with dd2, she behaved impeccably! She didn't quite sleep through but when she woke it was just for a bit of a shift around, a little scratch at the side of the travel cot, a bit of a chat and then back to sleep - so we didn't even have to get out of bed.

Result!

claireybee · 27/05/2008 17:49

Argh busy weekend here! DD enjoyed her birthday and it stretched out til sunday with presents/guests etc so she felt very spoilt!

DS is starting to crawl but has been really grumpy and barely sleeping again. Think I jinxed myself on wednesday by saying he was napping better cos he hasn't since! Can now see the top of a tooth though so that must be why.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a grizzly baby!

DD was eating an apple yesterday and gave it to him, he was holding it in both hands an sucking on it and scraping at it with his gums-wouldn't give it back to her! Not sure whther that is blw or tlw (toddler led weaning)! Still waiting another couple of weeks to start properly though but that is mainly cos I can't get him weighed til then and I want to be able to see how heavy he has got on breastmilk alone [loser emoticon]

Beckle sorry about your dh's job

Skid if Milo didn't seem that keen then maybe he wasn't ready but you couldn't have known that without trying so don't feel bad about it. Easy for me to say I know cos I am still being a stubborn bugger about waiting but thats cos I regretted starting dd before.

Am toying with the idea of introducing some formula to try and get more sleep (not that it made any difference to dd!)and am already feeling bad about that. Main issue is having to fork out for formula when we don't have to, there is no reason for me to give him formula-i have plenty of milk so why pay for it?!? It's also a pride thing I think- I want my milk to be enough for him and for him to sleep well on it (ha!). Guess will wait and see if solids make any difference first.

claraquitetirednow · 27/05/2008 18:01

Claireybee - glad your dd's birthday went well. Two is a real milestone - now she is a proper toddler

My dd2 also does that with the apple, she went mad today when she saw me eating one and loves chewing on it. I wonder whether it feels good on their gums?

Well done to your ds for crawling! He must be very strong, but I remember he was super baby before and sitting very early too. My dd2 wants desperately to move but can't work out how other than randomly rolling around until she gets somewhere else. She is so different from dd1 who was always relatively still in her cot. I usually find this one in a totally different position from the one I put her down in - usually face down squashed into her toys and facing the end of the cot!

claraquitetirednow · 27/05/2008 18:55

ps all those trying to buy wii fit I just ordered one from www.gamingextreme.co.uk/index.php
they said it was in stock, would only take 2 weeks and was at the normal price of £69.99. It sounds too good to be true so I will wait and see.......

becklespeckle · 28/05/2008 00:00

Hi all, thank you all for your good wishes for DH. He is in the process of pricing a job which could mean 6 months work so have everything crossed that he gets it!

Have not started weaning DD yet but bought some pots and spoons today in preparation. She doesn't seem unsatisfied with milk but she is incredibly interested when I eat and loves it when I let her have a suck of fruit! I also noticed when I gave her some Calpol the other day that she was able to swallow it without pushing most of it out of her mouth so I am guessing her toungue muscles have matured enough to swallow food now. Bought some baby rice too, it says on the pack you can mix it up with water, has anyone else tried that? Doubt I will be able to express any milk by hand and don't fancy using formula just yet!

Wizz, hi again! Welcome back, it feels like you have lost an arm or something when you have no internet access doesn't it?! Sounds like your DH is doing well working on his own! It is worrying though when they do such seasonal work, my DH usually does driveways and other groundworks so work is always slower in the winter too.

Skid, is scary stuff when you can't see where the money will be coming from in the future isn't it? I'm sure something good will come up for you or DH before October, its good you have a little warning to prepare.

Sausagebear, hi and welcome! Was going to suggest the same as Bouncing for the long trip, if you are going to be driving then sit in the back so you can entertain LO.

NBG, 6 months old! Blimey. DD will be 5 months old 2 days later and I just don't know where it has gone either! Glad that your DS is settling better at night, hope his mornings get a little later soon though.

Kelbel, how is your DS now? Sounds like a nasty bug he has caught, its awful when they are ill, especially when they are so small, but at least he is still taking some milk from you.

Bouncing, sorry to hear you have had to postpone DS's christening, thats a really thoughtfull thing to do for your DB. I hope that he and Dsil manage to sort things out. Did you get stuff sorted with your Dad? Families can be a nightmare sometimes! I have not started weaning just yet but I am still BFing and have a rough schedule for feeds - 7.30, 10.30, 2.00, 6.00, 9.30 - sometimes the feeds are half an hour later or earlier than that but it is always around those times.

Clairey, well done your DS for his crawling!

sausagebear · 28/05/2008 07:54

Hi

Just wondering how many of your babies are still sleeping in your room with you. My ds is still in our room, and he used to sleep through but seems to be waking up a bit more now. I thought it might be me and my dh waking him when we roll over in bed or something???

Lizzer · 28/05/2008 09:57

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on for ages...trying to catch up with your messages but haven't got long...ITs half term here and I have my 14yr old sis staying, which in some ways is great as she's really helpful but dd and her wind each other up so sometimes its a battle ground! Ds loving the attention from his auntie though

Hi sausagebear, I would just recommend lots of stops and to prepare for the worst when it come to lo's and long car trips-we've just done 2x6 hr journeys-they weren't that pleasant (esp having dd in the car needing a wee/feeling sick a lot) but not getting stressed and lots of stops helped-was quite wired on giant m'way coffees by the end though (me, not ds) As for your other Q we put ds in his own room at 4m-he slept through (more or less) from that point so yes i think we were waking him up!!

Clairey-Wow at your ds crawling, that's fab!!! Mine can't sit unsupported yet, and is only just rolling about...

BT, your dad does seem like a bit of an unhelpful grandparent-rant away, don't think i've ever seen you so riled

Amani-I love the pull off/big grin combo- except when ds still has my nipple in mouth as he turns-oww!

I want a wiifit too but a tripp trapp chair is our next purchase, ds has beem sitting in high chairs all weekend when we were away at wedding (and the million m'way service stations previously mentioned) so think the time has come to invest in one-now need to decide which colour-argh!!

Anyone got a bugaboo? The small metal rivet has come off the side of mine, contacted retailer but no answer yet and can't find bugaboo helpline for UK online....??

claireybee · 28/05/2008 13:38

I now have two snotty teething children, isn't life great?

Ok I don't want to have mislead you all, don't think ds is racing around the room on all fours or anything He is getting up on all fours and rocking backwards and forwards and kind of humping his way along-can cover the ground eventually but is still very frustrated with it. Clara dd did the rolling thing too, ds rolls over once but doesn't use it to get places.

Insy I missed your message when I was scrolling through yesterday. We were meant to be having toddlers over for dd's birthday too-we got her a small bouncy castle so the plan was the kids could play on that in the garden but luckily for me it bucketed down so we decamped to my friends house (she has a massive house whereas mine is a shoebox!). From your experience it sounds like I was very lucky!

becklespeckle · 28/05/2008 14:20

Sausagebear, DD is still in our room but she does sleep through still (thankfully!). She was supposed to be in with us for 6 months but apart from DH buying the paint when she was born, nothing has been done in her room yet! It needs carpeting (rolled up in there, bought 2.5 years ago!), painting and a bigger radiator fitting. DH likes to take his time! He needs to fit a bannister before she is crawling too and DS2 was a proficient crawler by 6 months so he might be cutting it fine! Sorry, went off on a bit of a tangent there

Hi Lizzer! Hows it going?

Clairey, my DCs are not snotty but they are all teething at the mo! DS1 lost a top tooth last week (he sobbed when the tooth fairy came as he wanted to keep it...), DS2 has 2 wobblies on the bottom and the new tooth growing behind and DD has 2 bottoms just cut and I suspect a top one is on its way too (can see the shadow of it)! Hence we had 3 very grumpy children yesterday, was relieved when the rain cleared up in the afternoon and they could play in the garden!

Has anyone else who is BFing got a LO with teeth? DD is not biting me but her teeth are definitely chafing a bit when she feeds! Is not as bad as those early days though but it does sting a bit!

becklespeckle · 28/05/2008 14:21

Bless her, she's managed to roll from one side of the living room to the other and is facing the opposite direction! She's too quick!

Ambi · 28/05/2008 20:48

Sbear, we moved dd out at 3 weeks, she's a noisy sleeper.
Hats off to those co-sleepers, we went back to bed for an afternoon nap and with the squealing and hand in my face most of the time, wasn't really a success!

right, bed and bath for lo. Will try to pop back later.

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2008 08:08

Morning all!
DS is still in our room, luckily our bedroom is big enough to have the cot in it. The nursery has a double bed, and we are planning on moving ds into the nursery when we get rid of the double bed - which won't be until the end of June, when my mum is visiting.

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2008 09:45

Oh dear last night wasn't very good... Am trying out some new night time nappies and not quite got them right!
Put him down at 7pm, he woke up at 9:45, and his nappy had leaked right through to his mattress sheet. So changed everything, fed him put him back down and finished watching end of BSG. Next wake up for feed at just before 2am, then he woke up at 3.30. Feed, back in cot - wouldn't go back to sleep so put him in bed with us. Few grunts later.. he fills his nappy. So get him strip him off, take pooey nappy off... and he poos again all over the changing mat! Fortunately DH had woken up so he helped me clean up and change him. Put him back into bed with us, first he wouldn't settle but a lovely cuddle from daddy got him back to sleep and then DH and I managed to get back to sleep as well!!

claireybee · 29/05/2008 13:29

Sorry BT, ours was slightly better last night-still 4 wakes ups but straight back to sleep after a feed and no poos (aren't those 3am ones a killer?!)

DS still in our room, although DH isn't! He sleeps most of the night in his cot but after a few wakeups I get lazy and just lie him down next to me. If he had his own room to go to I'd try him soon to see if he slept better but he'll have to go in wth dd and he will disturb her too much. She already wakes up if I don't see to him straight away...

This morning DS was being a nightmare, got him to sleep three times but every time I lay him down he woke up again. In the end I put him in his cot and went for my shower. He started crying about 5 mins before I finished but I was feeling annoyed so took my time. Then came downstairs to release dd from the sitting room only to be confronted with POO. POO EVERYWHERE. She had done it in her knickers then obviously tried to put it in the potty. So there was poo all down her legs, all over her feet, on her top, her hands were covered with it and it was even on her face and in her hair. There were two big lumps of it on the carpet and more all over the chair. Bless her she had tried to clean it up with tissue but had just smeared it everywhere. So I had to clean her up then clean all the poo off the carpet etc (DS still screaming in his cot). Half an hour later it was all clean and miraculously DS had stopped screaming and gone to sleep. He has never cried to sleep before but tbh I couldn't leave him that long in normal circumstances so it isn't a cure for the rocking to sleep!

What a day! DS slept for 1.5 hours though and seems in good spirits now so it hasn't traumatised him too much. He also just moved a metre or so across room by walking on his hands and feet bear style but then crashed down onto his forehead!

Beckle his tooth isn't through yet but I can feel it scraping when I feed him, can only imagine it will be worse once it is properly cut!

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2008 14:11

Claireybee - oh dear!! What a disastrous morning you had! IKWYM about going in the shower and listening to baby scream - ds does this sometimes, and I just ignore him - tell myself it'll take even longer if I get out, soothe him and go finish my shower.
