How about this?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
suey2 · 02/07/2008 16:55

thanks everyone . We had the tasting menu with wine matching. It was sensational. So nice to be out for a proper fancy indulgent dinner for the first time in ages! The last time is was actually out for a nice dinner when i was allowede to eat everything was before i got pregnant! Got a fab dress too that does go over my ginormous norks and will be versatile. Less than half price in the sale - woo hoo!

Wizzska · 02/07/2008 18:48

Just to change the subject, what are people putting their babies to bed in now it's hot? Last night was hot and I had him in a short sleeved and short leg sleepsuit and summer grobag. I never know whether he'll be too hot or cold.

cazzybabs · 02/07/2008 20:02

well I went back to work today. It was fine - dh coped brilliantly. ALthough Evie has celebrated my return by throwing up on me 7 times/

loucee · 02/07/2008 22:43

Cazzy Hope Evie is ok, DS was sick about 5 times a couple of nights ago but, touch wood, it went as soon as it came on

Wizz you say it just to make me jealous it's still really cold up here (well my bedroom says 20degrees) but when we were down south last week I just had DS in a vest and summer grobag.

Suey you and DH should put regular dates in your diary to ensure you do get out for a nice meal together. If we don't make a point of assigning a date for DH and I to go out it never materialises (which is why we haven't been out together since DS was 5wks old!) we lack babysitters though it must be said.

Without meaning to jinx it, lately DS has started to eat really well. I made some chicken with tomato and rice for DD who didn't want it so I pureed the rest and DS ate the lot! It's the only home made thing he has eaten though so I'm going to ditch the single taste stuff and just make mini meals. For anyone needing a pointer in this direction I was given an Annabel Karmel book for DD and have found it a really good thing to have around as plenty of meal and combination ideas in there.
I offer 3 meals a day (some two course, some turn out to be three courses and some are one course), he takes and leaves the food but I'm ok with that now he is actually taking some in. Beanster don't feel bad about the food in pots, DS is on quite a few of those Plum range from Boots after Lizzer recommended them

DD is literally covered in hundreds of spots with the chicken pox, poor soul I feel so sorry for her. DS seems clear at the moment but I know he can still get it.

Clairey glad to hear your little man is on the mend, out of interest with him not feeding as much are you expressing to maintain supply or are you just going by the line of thought that he will build back up the supply when he's feeding more?
Sorry to hear of your friend's wee one, we were in hospital for first two weeks of DS life and it is such an awful experience

suey2 · 03/07/2008 16:39

wizz on tuesday i stripped dd down to her nappy and put her in a summer grobag. otherwise it is short sleeved and legged PJs and summer grobag

loucee- you are so right! our nanny does one night a week, but we have been going out separately, or to meet other people- not the original idea

skid- i saw MM on another thread today too and told her she was missed

claireybee · 03/07/2008 17:46

Hot? not round here it aint! DS sleeps in babygrow with one blanket at the moment (or in bed with me with duvet up to his bum-naughty)

Cazzy hope she isn't poorly. Glad work was ok.

Suey the meal sounds great!

Clara take it you are busy packing etc?

Lizzer has the space egg arrived yet? looking forward to seeing pics of ds in it!

Loucee DS has more meals than single taste stuff too-definitely seems to prefer it. I expressed a couple of times at the weekend when he barely fed at all but since then have just fed when he wants it and not worried when not-I read on kellymom that after 6 months milk is stored less anyway and is just produced in response to suckling so hopefully should be ok. Am a bit worried the break in feeding might cause periods to come back though! Especially as I have bought a mooncup (tampons make me sore since having dd and hate towels)and it is quite scary looking, wouldn't mind putting off having to brave it!

Macdoodle how ae you feeling now? Did you get antibiotics?

Beanster are you feeling less flat today? Days like that are awful.

Friend of mine has really annoyed me. She had her first baby in December and completely unprompted has sent me a really patronising email basically telling me that ds' screaming in the early months was a bad habit caused by me, same for the night wakings and advises me to do CC "as it is so worth it and otherwise you end up pandering to them and perpetuating the bad habits". Just want to tell her to f*&@ off! I don't mind advice and i really like hearing other peoples stories of what has worked for them etc (like how we discuss it on here) but the tone of her email was so patronising and how dare she say that ds' screaming was my fault? Plus unlike her I have 2 children and if nothing else that has taught me that a one size fits all approach does not work-they are so so different to each other.

BouncingTurtle · 03/07/2008 18:17

Clairey at your friend, hope you told her where to stick her 'advice'

Suey - Glad to hear you enjoyed your night out

Not been feeling to great, have had horrible migraine sicne yesterday. DS's naptimes went all to pot and ended having a nap from 6.40pm to 8pm!! Then of course he wouldn't go back to sleep. So got some EBM out of the freezer and told Dh to feed him around 11pm (I went to bed), ds started getting upset and frazzled because his whole sleep routine was cocked up, and DS tried to feed him but he wasn't having it. Ended up me feeding him and he spent the night in our bed.
Done a lot better today he woke up just before 6am, had an hours nap at 8am, half an hour after lunch and then 2 hours this afternoon. SO he is playing atm and will be awake when daddy gets home. I think I will put some formula in a bottle (I have some ready made stuff) and ask DH to feed him at bedtime and see how we go, I'd rather waste some formula (which I didn't pay for anyway!) than waste any more of my precious EBM!!!
I just have to mkae it very clear to DS that mummy won't be available at bedtime, often when he has a bottle he still wants a breastfeed after!

BouncingTurtle · 03/07/2008 18:25

Oh forgot to mention!

Ds is now startting to roll onto his back from rolling onto his front! Can't manage it everytime, but he is starting to get the hang of it!
He is also starting to clap, he did it just before I did this post

mixedmama · 03/07/2008 19:12

Hi everyone...

Suey / Skid and one other I cant remember (sorry) I have come back for you all...

Absolutely no chance of me catching up but am back at work p/t so now have time for MN and to be on two threads (was on Jan and Dec ante natal)... couldnt keep up.

Hope everyone and their LOs are doing well and thriving.

We are doing well. Both DSs getting on great, DS1 not talking loads in 3 different languages so very proud and DS2 has recently started on solids.... we are going to be way behind all of you as he was eventually born on 11 Jan.

We are off on hols on 31 July for 4 weeks, cant wait.

Will try and s#do abit of catching up might fear i will fail miserably!!

mixedmama · 03/07/2008 19:16

Obv that should be DS1 talking loads - duh

Amani · 03/07/2008 20:44

hi everyone,

hope u are well, finally sitting down and eating some yummy cart d'or ice cream [yum] - the chocolate one....

Put DD2 wrapped tightly in a blanket and then in a grow bag to stop her from scrtaching. If it's hot we put the fan on..

claraquitetirednow · 03/07/2008 20:47

Hi MM, welcome back. I saw you on another thread the other day too, your thread about childcare. I hope you got it sorted out.

Hi everyone else.

Claireybee - glad to hear your ds is ok. And ignore your stupid friend, of course your ds's screaming wasn't your fault, it's just the way he was/is. All babies are different and we all parent differently. And all those people who smugly tell you their baby's always sleep through the night are lying!

Amani - you must be so relieved your dd's exzcema has improved. I hope it continues to get better.

Caz (was it you who asked?) - I give dd2 three meals a day; breakfast is always cereal (weetabix or porridge) with some fruit and possibly some toast and marmite as well; lunch usually a main course (eg a lentil dish, some veg with cheese or something with fish or tuna) and a pud, usually fruit possibly with yoghurt; tea is usually fruit. She eats at the same time as dd1 so roughly 7am, 12 and 5pm. As we already have that routine I find it easy to stick to. She also has a few snacks in the day, but she doesn't drink a huge amount of milk - possibly about 15oz.

Well I have just had two nights on my own in a very, very nice hotel. I was on a security course which my dh had already done. The course was quite useful but the best thing was lying on my huge bed, ordering room service, eating chocolate and watching tv! The hotel was set in beautiful grounds, with an enormous golf course and also a health spa and pool.....I did of course miss the dd's like anything, especially the baby. But it was fabulous to have a bit of time to myself. And dh survived looking after them on his own!

OP posts:
Ambi · 03/07/2008 22:09

Ok, again I?ve loads to catch up on!

Clairey ? poor DS going to hospital. I hope he?s much better now bless him ? I?d be beside myself. It?s so frightening when they?re as poorly as that. I also hate doctors receptionists, they think they?re qualified to diagnose now, snooty madams. Your friends poor baby, I hope he/she is out of danger soon.

The mooncup is fab, I do rave about it (only when someone mentions it ? otherwise I come across a bit strange) It is odd and at the size at first use, and even though it seems a bit yuck, you?ll feel much cleaner. My tip is cut off the stem (it causes friction) and pinch the bottom of the cup to take out, it releases the pressure iyswim.

I?d be furious at your friend too, wait til she has no2 or 3 that doesn?t conform to her ideal.

Claraq - When is it you?re off? Must be soon, wow, it?s so exciting but very stressful I imagine. I hope you made the most of the luxury hotel

Kelbel - DD is the same as unactive. She?s only this week started to sit unaided, she?ll jump and stands on my lap whilst being held, but hates tummy time and therefore won?t be crawling anytime soon. Not rolling either.

Beanster - Super about your yummy mummy cocktails weekend. DD slept fine in her own room straight away too, I think they know. DD does choke a bit on finger foods, but always shoves more back in, so it can?t have upset her too much.

Wizz - that?s fab news on sleep front. I bet you feel rejuvenated. I?m with you there on the dummy though, I?m now starting to wonder how we?ll get her to sleep without it at some point. Our house still gets cold at night so she?s in a full sleepsuit, no vest, a light grobag and a blanket over the top. When the days are very hot though, no blanket. Her hands are still freezing in the morning though.

Amani - I?m glad DDs eczema is healing well.

Macdoodle Mastitis is supposed to be horrible, I hope you?re feeling better asap.

Suey - hope you had a happy birthday. Brazilian doesn?t sound like too much of a treat, ouch. I?ve have only one in the past, but couldn?t do it again, if not for the pain then the indignity.

Cazzy - I hope work wasn?t too bad for you. Has she always been a sicky baby?

Caz10 - Yes random feedings here too, bit of toast or rusk or banana. She takes the jars down really well. She eats 2 or 3 times a day with half a bottle to follow, she seems happy enough and will now go 4 hrs between feeds. I?d make her more if I had a blender ? note to self , must pick one up next time I?m out.

Fifi - get you, consorting with footballers! Good for you for telling him off, and I bet you enjoyed the champers

Buzzy - wow, tooth no4 on it?s way! Not even a bud here, but all the signs and grumpiness means it should imminent. It is strange without them at home isn?t it, Mum had DD a couple of weeks back whilst I had a bad cold, it was weird having the place to myself.

Lizzer - bless DD with the chicken pox, from what I remember it?s very itchy and you end up covered in calamine lotion.

BT - Congrats for DS rolling. Sorry you feel rubbish, I?ve been a bit under the weather these last couple of days too. Hey, he can clap? ? that?s really good.

Skid - is Milo feeling better now?

Mixedmama - have a fab holiday.

Sorry if I?ve missed anyone, I?ve tried hard there to get everyone!

There?s actually not much to report here, that?s why I?ve not been on much. DD is very almost out of her 0-3 months clothes, finally sitting unaided, no rolling, crawling or teeth.

She?ll feed her self quite well. If she chokes, she drops the food immediately but if I give it back to her, straight in the mouth it goes. The dog is soooo happy now finger foods are here ? and usually dropped in her direction.

I?m counting down to our hols in August and trying to get everything I need like a parasol for the buggy and UV swimsuit for DD. But being excited to go away is short lived as I?m back at work when we get back .

We?ve started at a new toddler and baby group at our local church, it?s very good but sadly it?s only termtime so it?ll finish soon.

Not much else, except I MUST watch Heroes before bed.

BouncingTurtle · 04/07/2008 06:50

Morning everyone.
Feeling much better today, thank God as I have Tiny Signers this morning then I'm off to my friend's house.
DS rejected the bottle of formula, when he woke up, DH tried to settle him then tried to feed him but no joy. I ended up going upstairs to bf him instead. I offered him bottle but nooooo he wasn't having it.
I really do think the only way he'll take a bottle is if he knows I am out of the house.
I suppose the only way to know for sure is to organise a night out!

mixedmama · 04/07/2008 08:21

Claraq - is this the move to Pakistan happening or is this somethien different?
Childcare still not quite sorted.... def wanna go with the nursery I think but just the picking up that is the problem. Think I am going to need a childminder and may ask the nursery about any that already pick up.

Brazilians - not sure I have much diginity left in that department after 2DC, but do feel a little quesy about it, but am thinking i will go and get one done for holiday as I cant be bothered with bikini lines etc and am away for a month (whoopee).

Amani - you are truly amazing to have been on both threads all this time.

Did I miss a meet up? Was it in London and are we havign another.

Is anyone back to work here, or due back soon?

suey2 · 04/07/2008 08:56

welcome back mm!
i am back at work now 3 days a week. Macdoodle is back too, but poor thing she got mastitis this week.

mixedmama · 04/07/2008 09:41

Oh dear... that sounds awful.

I am back part time. 8.00-1.30 every day. Seems to be workign ok and I am much calmer than I was last time.

buzzybee · 04/07/2008 10:18

Hi MM and Ambi!
Yes I'm back at work 3 full days per week (for last 2 months) and so far so good. DD2 only starting creche next week tho as we've had the student nanny up until now.
I have to admit she's driven me half balmy (does a load in the dishwasher with 3 bottles and 2 plates so that she can avoid just washing the bottle by hand, never hangs out clothese to be dried even on fine days, takes washing out of the dryer and then just leaves them in a pile in the playroom...I could go on!!! And I'm not a particularly tidy freak ) so will be very glad to get my house and routines back even though it does mean I won't have regular babysitting available.

She ate LOADS tonite - first time she's wolfed down a fair bit of veges followed by a whole jar of "blueberry and apple muesli".

Off to make mince pies now for our little NZ Mid-winter Xmas affair tomorrow (cum Bea's half-birthday!)

skidaddle · 04/07/2008 14:28

yay mixedmama - glad you came back to the nest!! and great to hear your Ds's are doing so well - DS1 tri-lingual - that is impressive - what are the languages?
I am back at work too - 3/4 time and all going well although I do get severe DS withdrawal symptoms after a few hours

ambi - wow what an impressive post - think you got everyone in there, glad your little DD (still in 0-3 months, musy be so tiny and cute) is doing well

clairey - i had a mooncup and found it really uncomfortable and eventually got rid of it. But I think the problem was that i snipped off the stem without really waiting to see how it would have been with it - think stem trimming depends on your ahem anatomy as to whether that makes it more uncomfortable or not. Otherwise I think it is a great buy - think of all those trees and pounds you will save..
also at your frien'd advice - how on earth did she think that would be helpful telling you it's your fault. Let's cross our fingers that her next baby is a right old screamer

claraq at your hotel stay, oh how I would love that. Was the security course about how to be safe in Pakistan? How many weeks to go now? Six? Feel a bit butterfly-y on your behalf!

loucee - hope your DD is feeling Ok despite all the spots, poor little thing

re solids: DS barely eats anything is still a boob addict extraordinaire. Am not worrying yet though as he is still young and sleeps quite well. He was quite keen on a courgette and feta filo parcel DH made yesterday though - maybe his tastes are just a bit more sophisticated than mushed up carrot...

Gosh this is long, sorry - have alovely weekend everyone

macdoodle · 04/07/2008 19:59

thanks all for sympathy god that was horrid - much sympathy to those that had it in the difficult early days...
Didn't get antibiotics in the end - lots of fluid 2 days rest from work and LOTS of feeding from that side seemed to do the trick but didn't do much for cutting down the BF - not sure how we will stop we both enjoy it so much Lots of comments at work about "time to stop feeding now then" but no offers to help - was very ....and these are health professionals - she's only 6 months FGS not SIX!!!!

BouncingTurtle · 04/07/2008 20:29

Macdoodle - glad to hear you are feeling better!! I've had the odd comment too but form non-professionals, so I share your at the attitude of your colleagues. Actually I went to my doctor on Wednesday and he asked me what painkillers I've been taking for my back pain so I said paracetamol due to me breastfeeding and he said, after I told him ds was 6mo that oh well you can't been feeding him much then. I said well actually since i've only started weaning him he is still bfing loads! He was a little surprised, but didn't comment further, I was expecting to say something tbh!
MixedMama - welcome back! I take it that annoying colleague of yours has gone now? Has her replacement arrived?
Wizz - i've been dressing ds in shorty pjs and just putting a sheet over him. Though 3am this morning I did put him in his grobag as the temp had dropped quite a bit.

Wizzska · 05/07/2008 18:43

Clairey - at your friend. Just sit back and wait, she's bound to have an awful toddler or something. Every child has their moment.

Hi Mixedmama.

Loucee - DH and I have only been out twice together since DS was born. Am starting to get a little babysitting circle together though with my nct class mums so the future seems a bit better. I'm more confident leaving DS now he's sleeping better.

DS has started to pull himself up to standing now. No interest in crawling at all.

Gotta go, must watch Dr Who. Hello to everyone else.

claraquitetirednow · 05/07/2008 20:31

Hi everyone

We're hoping for tooth number three to make an appearance very soon - she's been terrible at night recently, although better last night after a spoonful of Medised. I thought I saw a little white spot on her top gum this morning so here's hoping....

Otherwise she's doing great - crawling properly now, pulling herself up to standing and enjoys being walked around the room holding our hands.

Skid, Ambi, MixedMama and anyone else who asked: yes, our move to Pakistan draws ever closer.....two weeks today we fly! Yikes. I would say I'm getting nervous but we're too busy to think about it much!

Skid - ha ha to the feta and courgette filo parcel, get you!! We laughed at dd1 when she was about a year and turned up her nose at expensive shop-bought food when we took her away on holiday but happily tucked into thai-spiced mackeral....

Oh, I feel very sad, I have given all my newborn - 6 months clothes away, as well as the Moses basket, baby bath and a few other bits. I put them on Freecycle and they have gone to a pregnant teenager. I hope she gives them a good home. I know we don't want any more babies but it's still sad

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 05/07/2008 21:01

Hello, how is everyone, been bloody awful weather today!

Been to see inlaws, who are an hour and a half way. Each way ds has either been sound asleep or sobbing, we had to stop a couple of times get him out of the car seat and calm him down. I tried to feed him each time, but he kept having a bit and then just craning his neck to look around!
My DSS was in the back trying to keep him entertained, but ds just wanted out of the seat!

Caz10 · 05/07/2008 21:49

evening all

no sleep city here as dd has been spotty with a virus...easing off now thankfully!

wow i feel like we are miles behind - no teeth, no crawling, not much solid food going in....is it only me?!

so tired, off to bed, but hope to catch up properly tomorrow

hello to mixedmama!

hope everyone is well!
