How about this?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BouncingTurtle · 30/06/2008 21:01

Yeah it was Wizzka - have to admit am curious as well.

Wizzska · 30/06/2008 22:00

Kelbel - yes it was me. I bought the book www.amazon.co.uk/Solve-Your-Childs-Sleep-Problems/dp/1405319674/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=12148 59324&sr=8-1 and tried it out on Thursday and have had good luck so far.

It's fairly straight forward really. Controlled crying. Don't feed at night. Leave to cry for 5 mins on first night, then go in but don't pick up just show your presence and leave them to get to sleep themselves without helping them. If still crying leave room and go back in 10 mins, then 15. Each night the times get longer. There are some good explainations in it and it was quite interesting.

Amani · 01/07/2008 09:59

DD2 eczema sooooo much better for the past week. Previously it was all over but now it's mostly on her legs. And she is sleeping MUCH BETTER at night as she is not waking herself up and scratching.....so pleased...

skidaddle · 01/07/2008 13:56

oh clairey, thank God. I was really worried fo you yesterday. DH asked me what was wrong when I got home and I was too embarrassed to tell him I was worried about my virtual friend's son!! How has he been today?

My DS is still really hot but don't have a decent thermometer so don't know how hot. It might be his teeth but he does seem a bit out of sorts. Nearly lost my rag with DD this morning when I had just got him off to sleep after an hour and a half of feeding/soothing etc and she jumped on the bed shouting "Milo Milo, are you sleeping?".

amani - that is great news

wow wizz I'm very - you must be feeling so much better now you are getting a proper sleep every night. Tried to get DS to settle himself to sleep last night but he was having none of it and DD was beginning to wake up so I gave in and fed him. Just don't think I've got what it takes to do anything that involves leaving him to cry at all...

macdoodle · 01/07/2008 13:58

After 6 months of successful BF I think I now have mastitis - very sore engorged boob (expressed 6oz not helped) feel dreadful hot shaky spaced out - and am work all afternoon not good - been lying on my couch feeling decidedly sorry for myself - H says go home but have fully booked afternoon would cause chaos Think my body is telling me it is time to finish

suey2 · 01/07/2008 14:00

thank goodness amani! my niece has excema and has really improved from the early days.

clairey- glad to hear your LO is ok. Those receptionists make me furious.

they cancelled my post PG treatment but have nice newly cut hair and a tidy brazilian. Also picked up a dress in the sales that actually goes over my huge bosoms- so will wear it for dinner tonight.

skidaddle · 01/07/2008 14:30

macdoodle - think your H is right this time. Can one of your colleagues prescribe you some ABs? If you treat it now you should feel better soon. Please go home and rest - mastitis is horrendous and you can't possibly work all afternoon

skidaddle · 01/07/2008 14:31

happy birthday and enjoy your night out suey - what sort of food are you going for?

BouncingTurtle · 01/07/2008 15:12

Suey2 - Happy Birthday! Sorry to hear you've cancelled your treatments, but hope you enjoy your night out and that your Brazilian isn't too painful

Clairey - so glad your ds is on the mend, you must have been so worried!

Macdoodle - not necessarily the end of bfing, but you must go home and rest. I guess it's true that doctors make the worst patients!!

Skid - how's ds is now? Maybe you should get him checked out anyway? My friend's baby is cutting his 3rd tooth and he had a horrendous night on Sunday, up every hour being sick, poor thing, he was like this when he cut his first 2 as well

Well putting ds in his own room is going well, on Sunday night he was unsettled in the evening, I think because of teething so gave him some calpol at 10pm. He woke up at 1am and 3.30am for a feed, then was wide awake so left him in his cot chatting away, eventually went to sleep 20mins later, but was then wide awake at 5am after filling his nappy!
Last night was better, down at 7.30, dummy at 10pm, feed at 11:15pm, then another feed at 3:50am! But after that feed, was wide awake, didn't want to lay awake listening to him chat so put him in our bed, cuddled him and he went straight back to sleep and stayed asleep until 6.30am! I feel like a new woman

Beanstermummy · 01/07/2008 15:45

BT - we find that with DD2 - sometimes she wakes at 5 ish - but plonk her inbetween DH and me and she goes back to sleep for a fair while. Can't really complain though as we seem to eventually cracked the sleeping bit. She went 7pm until ten to 7am this morning Feel like a new woman with all this sleep - she jsut seems to have decided it herslef though irrespective of anything we did - although I like to think she knew I was going back to work and so decided to let me leep more...

Happy Birthday Suey - hope you have a fab day - brazilian sounds far too painful though

Clairey - good news on the AB front - and a good reminder to us all to ignore crap receptionists and call NHS direct - must admit we've had to a couple of times as it's been the weekend - and think we were better off doing so TBH

Just a quick post from me today as work is getting a bit hectic - think I sort of eased back in last week but now it's right into the monthly reporting, budgets, spreadsheets etc etc - joy

Have a nice day now

cazzybabs · 01/07/2008 16:52

Happy birthday Suey - looks like you picked a good one to have off!

Macdoodle - I have mastisits lots - for me it was unrealted to my cutting down when I went back and infact with dd1 I never got it all!
But it is horrid and I hopw you feel better soon. I tmade me feel sorry for all those pigs that got it in all creatures great and small.

A friend of mine ran a baby resuscitation course yesertday just for a few friends 0 so at oeat I know what to do but god it was quite scary holding the dummy thinking it was a similar size and weight to Evie.

suey2 · 01/07/2008 17:02

thanks guys we are off to a restaurant called the square here

claireybee · 01/07/2008 18:28

Looks very swanky Suey! Let us know what you choose to eat-looks yummy! Happy birthday!

Skid I was glad for my digital themometer this weekend although I did think it was malfunctioning when his temperature read so high! Tested it on me and dd though and we were both normal. Know what you mean about your dd-mine always seems to do the same when I've spent ages getting ds to sleep.

Hope you feel better soon Macdoodle

Caz10 · 01/07/2008 20:20

Evening all!

amani that is great news! So glad for you and of course your dd.

Well tis the season of sick babies it seems, another one here! I think it is just her teeth but she's been so so out of sorts, crying and clinging and whimpery, then yesterday I panicked as she came out in the most awful red, raised rash all over her legs and bottom . Cue mother of PFB dash to the GP's, but she says it's probably just a non-specific virus, or bad teething symptoms. She has been refusing ALL solid food and even BFs almost all day, but thankfully just had a big feed before bed and has been taking a wee bit water.

Oh clairey that sounds so so scary. Can't believe you weren't going to be allowed to see the doc. grrr. Your posts made me realise that although I have a digital thermometer I have NO idea how to work it, must practise!

loucee and BM sorry we didn't get to meet up! The DCs can smell a meet up can't they?! How is your wee DD loucee? Poor wee thing hope she's ok, chicken pox is miserable. Have you had it as a child?

wizz - well done!! I have cracked getting dd off to sleep without feeding now, for about a month, but it has made NO difference to her night wakings, booo. It does make life easier though in that dh can put her down for a nap etc. I guess the next stage is saying no to night feeds but I am SUCH a wimp...maybe when I go back to work tiredness will force me into it!

macdoodle - OW poor you. I had a painful blocked duct the other week, it didn't progress to mastitis thank goodness. Hope you got away from work. Mine took days to clear, expressing didn't help at all, but I called the BFN and they suggested "combing" over it in the shower, lots of soap and draw a wide tooth comb over the bump towards your nipple, also depending on where it is, try to get your dd to feed with their chin facing the lump (in my case that was impossible as it involved flinging dd over my shoulder and she just thought it was a hilarious new game!). Good luck.

Happy birthday suey! Enjoy your dinner!!

Caz10 · 01/07/2008 20:24

Oh - food...

well apart from the last day or so dd is doing reasonably well I think, but it's me who's getting fuddled!!

Do all of you have sort of regular things you offer your dcs? I am feeling that I am being a bit too random, different things at different times etc. Could anyone post an example of their days food please, just to give me an idea? Very confuddled.

Having said that I think she is doing well - not too keen on mashed up stuff on a spoon apart from porridge (normal porridge), but has happily wolfed some weird and wonderful "sticks" including watermelon and asparagus!

BouncingTurtle · 01/07/2008 22:10

Caz - we're pretty random here too. I think at this stage it is more about experiencing different tastes. There has been days he has missed a meal or 3 because I've been a bit disorganised!
New foods we've tried recently - pineapple, a BIG hit, he happily sucked away at a finger. He has also had a bit of pizza crust and a tiny bit of blueberry muffin, thanks to DH!

fifisworld · 02/07/2008 09:06

Clairey - you must have been so worried, i hope your ds is feeling better

Suey - Happy birthday..i hope you enjoyed your meal!!

Amani - Glad to hear dd's exema is better

BT/caz - We often have random days with the food as well, all Ethan had yesterday was his breakfast, he wouldn't entertain his tea.
Breakfast is just about the only thing he has at about the same time. He might not have a proper dinner if we are out as he tends to sleep in his buggy. Tea is usually when ds1 is having his say about 4.30, but can be as late as 6.30 before we have ours

Hello to everyone else
I had my night out on Sat..was very drunk. I ended up arguing with a footballer in a vip lounge in the club we went to coz he spilt his drink all down my dress and legs but he sent a bottle of Moet to our table so all was forgiven
Also had a good talk with dp last night about having another baby, he says we can see what our situation is like after our wedding next year..so we are making progress

Lizzer · 02/07/2008 09:26

Fifi, you're soooo going to win that argument I bet

Clairey, oh thank god everything is ok with ds, was really worried. but at the dragon receptionist though..

Happy birthday for yesterday Suey, restaurant looks fab

Caz10, we're totally random with food and I'm so disorganised..but that's life in this house and ds will get used to it, didn't do dd any harm Also ds completely went off his food when his top tooth came through, must have hurt sooo much

Its a gorgeous up here in the lakes, going to head out to the beach i think and get some sun, sod the housework... have a good day everyone

Amani · 02/07/2008 09:50

Skid - Hope your DS gets well soon, but your DD2 sounds like such a madam ...just like mine!

McDoddle - get well soon hun, make sure you get down to your GP incase you need some AB

Suey - Happy belated B'day! Is there any cake left??

Fifi - another one???

Caz10 - your LO sounds awful - hope she gets well soon too. My DD2 LOVEs buuternut squash pureed (so do I - I usually end up eating half the portion that I make for her - taste better than roasting it in the oven) Also offered her Watermelon and Courgettes (which tasted vile) which she loved.

Was woken up at 6am by DD2, but feeling good as I've had a good night kip (she woke up 2:30am for 10 mins as a result of DD1 waking up crying for her Dora toy.....)

fifisworld · 02/07/2008 09:59

Amani well not just yet..end of next year we'd probably start trying...depending on how these 2 are by then

buzzybee · 02/07/2008 10:11

OK well left Bea at her creche for 3 hours yesterday. Its just around the corner from where we live. Was quite successful, she even had a sleep there. Came home and hung around waiting for them to call me back!!! Eventually I couldn't hack it any longer and went back anyway. Very weird to be home without her. Going to do another dry run tomorrow morning and then she starts for real next Monday - school hols here next week tho so she will only go for 3 shortish days. Can't believe she had her half-birthday on Monday

So glad excema is better Amani - horrible, horrible.

Hope you feel better Macdoodle.

We have tooth number 3 now and number 4 on the verge. These top two have been much less painful than the bottom two tho which has been a mercy.

claireybee · 02/07/2008 10:52

Caz dd always got really bad nappy rash when she was teething and it would spread all down her legs too. Sometimes it would get so bad that her skin would blister and bleed, we found canesten helped even though it wasn't actually thrush she had. Metanium was also better for clearing it up than sudocrem.

Um food, ds was being offered food at roughish times but not set times. Hasn't had solids since saturday though.

Fifi ooh that sounds promising, give me some tips to work on my dh! (erm other than actually getting around to havig sex that is!)

Antibiotics seem to be working, his throat is obviously very sore now but temp has gone down and he is feeding a little bit, doesn't seem so weak and pathetic now either! My friends 4 week old has been hospitalised though, is on a drip and in an oxygen tent-I feel so bad for them, was scary enough with ds but when it is a tiny 4 week old...

Lizzer enjoy the sunshine, we have rain today

Beanstermummy · 02/07/2008 12:04

Having one of those days today - need cheering up I think. Suey - did you havea jolly night out - very jealous

Caz10 - Is Ella any better today? Loucee - how about your big girlie?

Re food I constantly feel a bad mummy as I remember with DD1 cooking from scratch each night for her and by now she was having finger food, toast etc, but this time tea time just seems so chaotic that she ends up having bought food nearly all the time. She eats really well though and is havign 3 meals a day - Porridge for Breakfast, Pot and fruit mush for lunch then pot and fromage frais for tea - as well as 4 7 oz bottles a day (yes I know - piglet!!), but I can't help thinking she should have moved on more by now??!! told you I was having one of those days

just keep trying to chill and remind myself that she's eating well and I vary the flavours etc. How do you stop them from choking on finger food? I'm sure she'd love it but just need to try

Also having a major confidence blip at work as project seems far too big for me to manage etc etc - ah ah ah - and my bloody period has started and I feel crap - oh hang on - after 15 months without, I'd forgotten this is how they make me feel!!

Need chocolate but not allowed as slimming world weigh in tonight - if I go and don't just go home to sleep.....

Beanstermummy · 02/07/2008 14:10

nobody around boo hiss

Have decided to do a runner early and go shopping for baby stuff for friends new little girl - should cheer me up

Wizzska · 02/07/2008 15:42

Beanster I've been thinking about giving up bf, but periods are a major drawback to that idea. It is so nice not to have them.

Suey, happy belated birthday.

Random meals here too and DS tends to dislike anything I cook for him so he often has rice, porridge or fromage frais, or a jar if we're out and about. I often cook some carrot or sweet potato and take it out with us and he'll refuse it so I end up buying something in the end. He seems to like his food now and my going cold turkey on him with night bfs doesn't seem to have made him hungrier at all in the daytime.

Macdoodle - mastitis is hell, hope you feel better. I found ABs and feeding DS the only way to clear it.

Just had a visit to Broadstairs, it was so hot yesterday we jumped on a train and visited our friends there. Swam in the sea though very cold. DS liked splashing in the warm shallow bits.
