Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LenniEd · 26/05/2008 20:05

PILs completely obsessed! My parents live 4 hours away so only see DD occasionally. My maternal GPs also completely obsessed. Looking forward to telling them all that there is another on the way too! Think they'll be so excited. Waiting until after our holiday though as I don't want everyone fussing just yet.

I love Loch Lomond, haven't been for a few years now. DDog1 also enjoys paddling in the Lochs in Scotland - we took him on his own little holiday up there pre-DDog2 and DD. Went camping on Mull and round Glen Nevis. Was a wonderful holiday - although got eaten alive by midges. DDog1 never had such a great time... his little tail was wagging all holiday. Although it rained most days and he was permanently soaked through. I digress....

Olihan · 26/05/2008 20:43

Ooh, Gloria, you lucky thing. Do you live up there? I love that part of Scotland. We often stop by Loch Lomond on the way up to friends who lve near Inverary. It's so tranquil and beautiful.

Lennied and Indith, looking forward to your scan news - can't believe you are both at that point already. Are you due Dec 08/Jan 09? My maths has deserted me!

Jabber, hope you're settled and surrounded by fewer boxes.....

We're on the brink of buying a tent . DH is very excited and enthusiastic about it, I'm less so - I like my creature comforts . But it's the only way we're going to get a holiday in the next few years so here's to nights under canvas for the Olihan brood!

accessorizequeen · 26/05/2008 21:02

Goodness lennied & indith, for busy pg students you're on here a lot
Fab re: scan indith, that must be quite early clearly more organised in durham! Still don't know if I'm having another at any point but they're kicking on both sides now all day so I'm not worried! I hope your scan is lovely & everything a-ok. I also found the AN group a bit too much too handle to start with, they've calmed down now. I do wish someone on there was having twins, though. and shocked at the no. of m/c's since I joined. Lennied, glad mr L is helping out more. As I said before I was really pleased with how much more dp is hands-on since ds2 was born although he was great in the early days with ds1 - he changed every nappy for weeks because I couldn't easily after the section!

I have been nightmare hormonally all weekend, I just never see it coming, I was a complete harridan yesterday evening. Broke the stair gate even . It always seems to happen when the twins are high, but I hate getting this angry doesn't seem right and I inflict it on ds1 particularly who's such a sweet boy. I know I'll cry when I see him in uniform for first time with his book bag - you and I must post photos Oli. And who else's dc is starting school in Sept, I've lost track.

Oli, I'm feeling the same way about tents, but I know we'll have to go down that road if we ever want to go away! As long as I can stand up in it, the claustrophobia won't hit too bad!

Gloria42 · 26/05/2008 21:29

Oli, we live just east of Glasgow so pretty central for both coasts and anything up north. When the weather's like it was today, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

We've been getting an extension built on our house for the last 6 weeks and the final builder left today!!! Hooray! DS had his first bath in all that time (we've been taking him into the shower) and he was sooooooo happy! We couldn't get him out

Indith · 26/05/2008 21:30

Camping is ace! And family camping once you get all the kit is full of creature comforts. A good tent with standing room and a big enough living space to sit around a table when if it rains is a must for family camping IMO. Your first time you'll just have the basics but you pick up ideas from other people on the site. But basically tent, airbeds, table and chairs (worth getting chairs with backs) and some good storage boxes for food. You then end up gathering gadgets and tricks. Oh and a spade is useful when camping on side, in a dip and it pisses it down for digging a channel round your tent for drainage!

We are borrowing a tent from friends this year but hopefully get one ourselves in the winter sales. You get some great bargains in "last season's colour". I have tents of course (you could probably guess that) but we decided my dome is fine for weekends and festivals but not so good for a 2 week holiday and I don't somehow think my other baby is practical with ds! Am stupidly excited about getting to use it again later this month on Queen's Guide expedition. Was beginning to think I'd be better off selling it, which for someone who drools over lightweight camping equipment is very

Anyway, erm, camping is ace

AQ the busier the student the more we MN Hope the hormones calm down for you.

Oli yes Lennied is Jan and I'm Dec

I have my boys back Got a huge hug from ds who has been honing his walking skills in Roundhay Park and is amazingly good now. Dp has bogged off upstairs to "investigate ceramic knives" He watched a thing last night on Japanese knife makers and apparently they are sharper than steel, unbreakable and never go blunt. He is slightly too enthusiastic......

I have done most of a translation and melted my brain. Ds is fussing....Grrrrr

accessorizequeen · 26/05/2008 22:05

LOL at your dp (df?) re:knives, indith, just the kind of thing my dp would get excited about

gloria, sounds wonderful to have finally got all the work done. We're meant to be getting one done before twins arrive and it's just hit us that that's not going to happen. I just feel so anxious about it all, either builders in when I'm trying to bf twins fgs or not at all and we have closet for kitchen until next year when we have to go through it all with 4 kids underfoot. I feel like we've just been stupid really as the garden is going to be done in 3 weeks and it doesn't even matter!

Indith · 27/05/2008 12:01

One small, wriggly baby in situ

accessorizequeen · 27/05/2008 12:39

Ooh, lovely!! Did dp go too? I'm sure you both had big smiles on your faces...I shall get to see bump soon and you can feel positively petite by comparison with my largeness! When is due date?

Indith · 27/05/2008 12:53

No he was at work, have pictures for him though. Due date according to scan is 20th. So now have lmp 24th, 26th according to MW slightly dodgy wheel and 20th....wonder if I can persuade MW to agree to 24th as due date given how over ds went........

I shall get bump envy you know, I'm all stuck in nothing fits land and I want a bump to make me feel better!

LenniEd · 27/05/2008 13:14

Ooooh, congratulations Indith!! How exciting, and reassuring. I would go with the dodgy wheel date if you can - less chance of being induced. Plus Dec 26th was DDs due date

I am being booked in this afternoon, so should have my own dodgy wheel date soon too! Oh, the excitement

Family dome tents are lovely now Oli/AQ. Ours has 2 bedrooms and you can stand up/have table in the middle part. It is a bit awkward to find campsites for though - some places don't accept family domes, take up too much space apparently but they will usually budge if you nag them enough!

And I second the more uni work = more mumsnet ... I have to have something to do whilst working, and the temptation is just too great whilst sat at the computer all evening!

AQ, hope you are feeling less hormonal today. Its horrid isn't it. And I don't really realise what's going on 'til I am less hormonal again. Have you been on the multiples threads yet?

accessorizequeen · 27/05/2008 13:15

24th! Do you really want xmas eve as due date ? Always good to push it back though in case they mention induction! I've no doubt you would be more assertive than I was though. When was ds's due date? I was so surprised ds2 came early as ds1 didn't arrive until I was 42 weeks, nothing ready!
Do you have a h&m there, they do loads of stretchy trousers with roll down panel & they fitted quite well early on. I just bought some cropped ones but not decided whether my ankles will be too ugly to be on show this summer! Pls do not have bump envy, I can hardly walk some days, could barely do up (velcro) shoes this morning & dp not around to help! I'm sure you'll have lovely bump by wedding hee hee.

accessorizequeen · 27/05/2008 13:20

I'm sure the specs would suit, lennied . I've visited multiples a few times, trying to make contact with a few ladies due with twins around same time but they don't post! And I did start a home-page featured thread on twin names - does that count even though we won't use any of them! DP said he liked Erin last night and I do too I just think it goes appallingly with dp's surname and Rose which is the already decided middle name after my long-gone GM.

Did you want bump panel thingies btw, lennied?
And I know someone (Oli?) offered me tops but I suspect anything less than an 18 would no longer fit mahoosive chest?!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 27/05/2008 14:19

Yay for good scan Indith

Gloria42 · 28/05/2008 09:36

AQ, what you need are builders you are comfortable with. Ours were fab, really tidy and so friendly to DS. They were no bother at all and even had their own key so could come and go as they needed. I surprised myself how un-stressed I was by the whole thing!

Indith · 28/05/2008 11:05

How was booking in Lennied?

AQ ds was due on the 27th! Lazy sod Second Gloria for builders, if you have someone you can really trust then you will be fine, ask around, find out who friends used etc. Will check out H&M if I can on Sunday, thinkw e are headed into Newcastle then (we had better be, tis our only free day to get the wedding list done!)

Erin sounds ok with your dp's surname....just a bit of a tongue twister to say quickly! Would annoy the hell out of her future teachers! Erin Rose surname sounds lovely.

babypowder · 28/05/2008 11:39

It was only after we'd registered DD1's birth that we realised that her names don't go terribly well together, and that she's probably be in for a tough time as she got older. Hey ho - kids are cruel, and if it's not her name, they'll find something else to pick on. (That's me all over - sympathetic, understanding, gentle )

Glad your scan went well, Indith. DD2 was born on the 20th, and it seems to be as good a date as you can get around Christmas. Better than 26th, which was the date we were first given for the C-section. She actually wasn't due until 6th January, so I'm really an interloper on this thread. Too late to get rid of me now, though

DH and I have taken a few days off work without the kids to sort the house out. We've decided not to sell now, but to extend instead, but we're still decluttering like mad things. It's amazingly cathartic. And restful without the kids. It's been nice just spending time together [sloppy ]

bebespain · 28/05/2008 13:47

Ooh I love de-cluttering bp, t´is my favourite thing!! Trouble is DH is such a hoarder and hates me getting rid of things, even clutter!

DS just had a major tantrum over lunch! And I thought it was the terrible twos, or am I missing something...

AQ - I really like Erin, its a lovely name

Off to see a Gynae tomorrow to see if I can get my PMT probs sorted out - wish me luck gals, Spanish medics are not my favourite people!

Good luck for any looming scans (have you had yours yet, Indith?)

bebespain · 28/05/2008 13:51

FGS - Forgot to ask, how´s kitty cat?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 28/05/2008 13:56

bebespain - Cat had his dressings off yesterday and all seemed good. He can walk on it a bit and is happier without the dressings but today he has been licking the wound and has made it bleed. It doesnt look great so I have to take him back to vets again this afternoon. I'll have both DDs with me too as I cant get anyone to have them. Could be interesting...

DD2 has also been fighting sleep all day and has had no nap. She went to softplay today and loved the slide.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 28/05/2008 16:39

Good luck BebeSpain.

We had a terrible nights sleep. We didn;t realise how late it was and DH did tumble drying while I washed up. Then we had a thunderstorm which left our dog unsettled and barking. We actually took her upstairs and put her in our bedroom (that lasted all of 20 mins, before her sniffing and wandering around the room drove us mad). Then dd2 woke up and I took her into our bed. Finally got to sleep at 3.30am and was woken by dd2 at 7

I must keep this bumped up as I can't keep up with alll the news.

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 29/05/2008 13:49

I can't keep up with all the news either. But well done/good luck with scans and stuff. Everyone seems to be pg except me and I feel very happy about that. DH and I had a massive row at the weekend about more DCs. What a joke.

Hope the 'mones are behaving themselves AQ.

Just back, early, from my mum's. What an effing nightmare. I'm surprised I'm not receiving therapy

I'm so tired at the moment I keep falling asleep on the sofa by about 9pm

EustaciaVye · 29/05/2008 13:53

Hi guys.

FGS here, having changed my outfit

castles - family visits can be hard work cant they!

castlesintheair · 29/05/2008 14:00

Not 'arf Eustacia. Like it btw. I'm just wondering if I feel brave enough to take the DCs out to my father's place in Portugal over the summer. Fancy the big villa, pool, seaside location, don't fancy the company much, apart from my 4 year old brother

bebespain · 29/05/2008 16:19

Aaaarrghhh - horrible, horrible, horrible.

Just back from seeing the Gynae a.k.a caveman from dark ages, a repugnant man with the people skills of a knat.

I explained my problems with PMT since having DS and how it was making my life a total misery etc, etc. It was a bit like talking to a brick wall and then he said wanted to examine me er why? I refused and told him I thought it was unnecessary, no legs akimbo in stirrups for me thank you very much Well he didn´t like that one bit and told me to go away and do some sport - wtf?????

I am muchus annoyednus and thats an understatement. Sorry for the rant ladies but I am fummmming.

(bebespain goes off to boil her own head in a pan of water)
