Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

jabber, thank you for the sincere southern sympathy. It really is all my own fault, I shouldn't have tried to lift the buggy & will swap over now to the lightweight one mum has. Makes me think twice about massive double one! I have been overdoing it, let this be a lesson to me (but also let my dratted back feel better before the weekend!).

It's v.hard to let go of the resentment that builds up over several months/years, I absolutely know what you mean. I genuinely thought I had stopped loving dp for a while when ds1 little, but we've managed to bounce back from it (sorting my depression played no small part I think). But I guess couples can come back from affairs (my BIL & SIL did and have just had another baby), never say never but god it's hard work! I still think you need to think of yourself more in all of this, you're earning all the money, sorting all the childcare, taking all the responsibility, who's looking after you? hugs.

Awww, castles, really sorry you've had to cancel the holiday and hope you can rebook for something else after the funeral. I know you're not soppy (neither am I!) but sending hugs your way.

twins do not stop wriggling all day long, bless em. Boy twin (I think) waved at me on Monday when I was scanned!

lennied, weekend away sounds v.lovely, I know you'll miss dd but you'll enjoy her even more when you come back! I think we left ds1 for a weekend when he was 15 months, I could not stop thinking about him! Now he's meant to be going to gp's for a week, which is too much I think so maybe 4 days. How's the bump, any movement yet?

Indith · 31/07/2008 13:41

Hello!

Been on holiday and moved house, have done far too much the past few days but the old house is empty and clean and I handed the keys back today. Just a load more boxes to unpack then.

Catch up later unless anyone fancies giving me a summary!

Hope you've all been behaving

LenniEd · 31/07/2008 20:14

Hi Indith - lovely to have you back. I would love to do a summary for you but I just couldn't do everything justice so am not going to try.

Am all packed and ready to go - 5.30am departure in the morning so going to have to be an earlier night than we've been managing recently. Midnight is the earliest we've finished working this week with all the preparations for the tradeshow and other things too. I'm at that so exhausted I feel confused and ill point, and I have to keep reminding myself and DH that I am pregnant. He has promised me a relaxing week next week... we'll see...

Have felt quite a lot of movement really considering I am only about 17weeks. Am starting to get a bit more excited now although I still feel surprised when someone mentions being pregnant - I just haven't had the time to think about it that I did first time round.

castlesintheair · 01/08/2008 14:03

Thanks everyone for being so lovely. Holiday cancelled. When I told DS today and explained why he just said "Don't worry Mummy we'll still have the best summer ever". Aww schucks.

Completely forgotten details of everyone's woes (or not) but hope everything is picking up generally - Jabber, AQ??? Hope you are ok.

Is is normal to feel 'hungover' 3 days after having food poisoning? I still can't eat properly. Not a bad thing given the tonnage I have to shift since being on ADs ...

accessorizequeen · 01/08/2008 20:23

Welcome back, indith. Another summer, another house move for you! Hope all well with ds & bump

Castles, your ds has always sounded like such a sweetie. FP can really take it's toll, dp seems to get it a lot (dodgy chinese usually) and feels rubbish for days afterwards. I'd say take it easy but there's not much chance of that is here?

Lennied, enjoy the trip but take it easy. You might have forgotten you're pg it's still knackering! Movement excellent, I still enjoy it even though it bloomin' hurts sometimes (one is breech).

Oli, how are nappies going I got big parcel of newborn ones yesterday from a mumsnetter, sooooo cute & tiny!

Olihan · 01/08/2008 20:56

Hullo Indith! Welcome back, happy new home. How long til the wedding now, surely it's only a matter of days now, isn't it? Are you sorted and calm or morphing into a proper Bridezilla ?

Castles, sorry about the holiday but bless @ your ds. Dear of him, as my Devonian friend would say.

AQ, nappies are going very well thank you. None of my new ones have arrived yet - boo - but the ones from Amphibimum are fab. I much prefer the pocket ones and I'm completely in love with the night time wool shorties (I may have mentioned that once or twice ). How's the back?

Teething again here, so nights that have been pretty good (one quick wake up) have gone to pot a bit. But we're doling out the Medised with a liberal hand and he is finally settling without needing to be cuddled to sleep - hooray!

accessorizequeen · 01/08/2008 21:28

Phaps I should consider wool, Oli, someone suggested less washing was a boon with dt's! Have never used it. Great about ds's sleep! Back much better thanks, dp was so lovely & took off yesterday and today so he did nursery runs etc. It's all mounting up at the mo', asthma, low bp, back argggh. Thought I was doing so well clearly overdid it last week in the heat.

jabber, how're things dh-wise this weekend?

Olihan · 01/08/2008 23:18

I think wool would be a good idea for you as it only needs washing then re-lanolising once a month or so, if they don't get poo on. You can re-lanolise with baby shampoo and Lansinoh so there's not even any extra outlay. Do it, go on, you know you want to.....Look how cute the pants are and the shorts for night time are even cuter. You could get the longies and only have to wash vests and t'shirts for a month .

Olihan · 01/08/2008 23:20

AQ, meant to add, my asthma always gets worse from 30wks or so, I imagine that would be even more so with 2 squashing everything. I can't imagine having 2 lots of movement. Can you tell which one's moving or is it just a mass of limbs?

Indith · 02/08/2008 11:23

Ok just about caught up...possibly......

Hope you are ok Jabber, sounds like you are having a very tough time of things.

Castles I'm sorry to hear about your gran.

Lots of nappy talk! Yay! I shall not be buying more nappies though, just some more muslins for the early weeks. Wool wraps look great, am a bit wary of them though as we tried fleece with ds and couldn't get it to work for us, at night all the wee evapourated out of the wrap alright but soaked into the sheets

Was some buggy talk earlier too, the MBs seem very popular, how heavy are they to push with a toddler in and how do they fold? And can you steer with one hand? Ds is wanting to walk more and more so I want to sell the pile of shite that is the loola (best not put that in the advery) and get something that either child can use, folds well and can be steered while holding onto a toddler...asking too much? I want to go and play with a M&P Luna though from what I hear you either love it or hate it.

Holiday was lovely, boiling the whole time. Ds thought camping was ace and after a couple of confusing days we managed to get our days organised as a good approximation of his usual routine and he was a star, even going to bed somewhere between 8 and 9 leaving us to sit outside the tent and read, chat, eat cake etc My Mamie was in fine fettle too, I was very worried about her before we went as she had been very low following the loss of her last remaining sibling, she kept forgetting that we were coming etc but she has picked up and was as happy and active and energetic as an 88 year old can be She is still coming over for the wedding! My uncle took us all out for the day by the lake on the coast which was great, I spent a lot of time there as a child. Ds loved it. A lot. I took him down to the water to paddle and 2 seconds later he was stipped naked and fighting to get as deep as possible!

Heat has certainly done funny things to ds' diet, he is made entirely of fruit. Mostly apricots in France though I can't find any for any money back here (bad harvest in France for all fruit so they are keeping it to themselves). Makes for some fun nappies!

Ds and Dp have gone into town, I must hit another box.

accessorizequeen · 02/08/2008 12:13

Oli, the woolly wraps look gorgeous but I have just bought a couple more airflows for ds2 so can't really justify it. Phaps when the twins are a little big bigger I'll try some out! Didn't get on with fleece either, like Indith tho suspect they might have been too tight. I must force myself to use muslins or terries in addition to my little stock of sandies/kissaluvs for newborns, there is a huuuuuge bag in the corner of their nursery. I'm just trying to force myself to use cloth on them as I know life will be stressful and I'll want to use sposies.
I didn't find asthma more of a prob with other pg's Oli, interesting you should say that. But it's been bad several times already since about 25 weeks I guess. I started hyperventilating 3 times yesterday and once already this morning. It does just feel like a mass of limbs to me although I roughly know where they're lying (assuming they have no more space to switch over!).

Indith, holiday sounds wonderful. I feel so guilty we haven't taken the ds's anywhere this year (aside from loads of day trips) and can't now. When you're next over (is it soon?) come & investigate my MB. I find it an absolute doddle to push even with ds1 in it (and he still fits!). Folds very easily, but v.v.bulky & it's awkward to lift. Went to the Baby Depot on Witham this week, huge range of buggies there & very helpful.

Indith · 02/08/2008 12:41

Over again very soon but somehow I don't think I'll have the time to visit! Will go play with some buggies in the autumn. I think the bulk thing puts me off, the luna is reputed to fold to fit into the boot of a mini, I'm rather hoping I like it. Don't you start beating yourself up with cloth and the twins, I think with 3 under 2 you will be more than entitled to use sposies at times!

accessorizequeen · 02/08/2008 13:17

Is this the pre-wedding visit or the actual wedding (I've forgotten the date!)? Either way yes I can see you might be busy!

I have enough (eco friendly) sposies for a week or so, we'll see after that, not going to beat myself up about it.

You couldn't put an mb on a bus (well I wouldn't) but god it's lovely to push!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 02/08/2008 21:10

Jabber, AQ & Castles - you've really been through it, haven't you? {hugs} for you all

Also here are some virtual ear plugs for EV

''

(who I'm sure is being driven slowly mad by a misplayed recorder for the last 10 hours )

We've had a run of bad luck this week. I didn't get the job, my dog had to be sedated to remove a grass dart from her ear, Dhs' nan went to hospital after a fall and vomiting and I think dd1 has asthma as she woke up breathing funny this morning, she seems better now though. Oh well, we'll get over it.

OP posts:
accessorizequeen · 02/08/2008 21:16

Sorry about all your bad news, Margo. If it's any help, ds2 has had suspected asthma (i'm asthmatic) for 9 months but dr said at a&e that it was the wheezing that gave it away and he wasn't wheezing just had a rattle (it's kind of permanent). Does it sound like wheezing?

EV, is recorder such a bad idea, was going to add one to ds1's list for Christmas/Birthday as saw nice wooden ones the other day? I'm sure they'll all be playing them at school come sept anyway. DS2 so cute at the moment learning all the movements to songs like Ring a ring a rosie, wind the bobbin up. About 15 times a day he makes it clear which song he wants me to sing!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 02/08/2008 21:30

It was wheezey - I took her to work with me this morning. She had only just woken up when I was due to go to work and wanted to see if she got worse (which she didn't). So she was in her pjs with birdsnest hair and I had to give her a currant bun for breakfast. She was sitting behind me, colouring in and eating her bun while I was serving on the till. Not very professional, but what could I do?

OP posts:
accessorizequeen · 02/08/2008 21:33

Oh. Poor dd. If she is asthmatic though, this is the worst time of year isn't it so she mightn't always be wheezy? And exactly so, what else could you do?

EustaciaVye · 02/08/2008 21:40

Recorder going ok. It was only 99p from woolies and she keeps going to her room to practice. DH actually showed her how to do different notes earlier so it isnt quite so painful to listen to ''

EustaciaVye · 02/08/2008 21:42

I get asthma during the winter only, normally. But I've been wheezy the last few weeks. I've been wondering if the weird weather has something to do with it.

Worth keeping an eye on it and go to Dr if you are concerned. It could just be the start/middle/end of a virus though.

castlesintheair · 02/08/2008 21:52

Poor Margo & co ((to you all)).

DS has been playing tunes on ILs piano by ear recently and to encourage his talent they have offered to give me the smaller of their 2 pianos. Please can I have some large ear mufflers like F1 teams use?

Have been offered a place to stay in Scotland week after next so feel all fussy and warm ... helped along by the wine I have consumed this evening

castlesintheair · 02/08/2008 21:53

Poor asthma sufferers How do you know if your DC has it? DD2 seems to have a cold/cough/catarrh (sp?) all the time. Teething?

accessorizequeen · 02/08/2008 22:19

I think this weather def. making mine worse I am much better today as it's rained. My dad (pediatrician) said that under 1 or so it's v.difficult to diagnose asthma. Don't know how much easier it is at this age but when I was diagnosed it was the distinctive wheeze of my breathing as well as reduced lung capacity (how do you test a 19 mo?). Seems so long ago now, and I've never had it that seriously unless pg.

castles, fwiw, ds2 is full of cold/chesty a lot of the time too. Holiday in scotland sounds fab, carry on feeling warm & fuzzy! I think piano sounds a fab idea, I'm sure he'll take to it really quickly as children do to music or languages & you won't need ear muffs at all! (we're considering french classes for ds1 at the moment as we can't find any italian, my stepdad is italian).

ev, I'm definitely going to get a recorder for him as a present from ds2 or the twins. Bless him, I asked him yesterday if he'd like to buy the twins a present when they were born and he listed a HUGE detailed list of what he thought he should get them. Best take him shopping whilst the sales are still on (why red socks for the girl, I don't know!).

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 03/08/2008 11:44

Wow, I wish my mum was as supportive of me learning a musical instrument. She made me practise in the shed

OP posts:
babypowder · 03/08/2008 22:31

Let them play anything they can get their hands on! (well, maybe not recorders ) I used to teach piano, and it's incredible how quickly little ones go from banging tunelessly on they keys to picking out tunes with one finger.

What a bloody exhausting week. Big summer party on Saturday (followed by hangover Sunday), family lunch with DSDs on Wednesday, DD1's 'little' party on her birthday on Thursday (ex-childminder, DSD2, and kids from next door), then 'proper' birthday party on Friday (4 girls, grown-up restaurant for lunch then an afternoon in the Science Centre) I am beyond tired now.

MIL phoned last night and - thankfully - dropped into conversation that they would be arriving at approx 7:00pm on Friday. We didn't even know they were coming! They live in the Southeast, so this has clearly been planned for a while. So now I have to get back into cleaning and organising for next weekend. [faint emoticon]

And neighbour has fallen off the wagon again, so I've spent the weekend looking after her kids

Am secretly very of all you pregnant ones. Am trying very hard to contain that!!

Olihan · 03/08/2008 22:47

((((([angry))))) That would be me if one of my dcs had a recorder . I made the mistake of taking recorder club when I was teaching and there are no words to describe the horrific noise made by 10 small children blowing as hard as they can. No way. Never. Over my dead body. (Am I making myself clear?)

Margo, sorry life is rough atm. Hope it picks up a bit over the next few weeks.

Castles, holiday to Scotland sounds perfect. I love Scotland, we've got friends on the west coast and it's so calm and beautiful there. The perfect place to unwind, even with 3 dcs in tow. Whereabouts are you going?

Indith/AQ, wool wraps are lanolised so are waterproof afaik. We've had no leaks overnight at all with them.

My asthma gets worse in really cold weather or when I over exert myself (ha ha, yeah right!). I was diagnosed at 5 when I had several attacks during the winter. Don't really remember any of it and it's so mild I can go months and months with no symptoms. I'm fairly certain ds2 will develop it at some point as he already has eczema and it's all linked, isn't it? Another reason to keep nursing, I guess.
