Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

(((()))), rather!

jabberwocky · 04/08/2008 03:31

sorry to be so out of touch everyone. Dh has been so nice the last few days it's a little scary. I just am having trouble responding to it. I know I should just go with the flow and try to keep everything on an even keel but it's not coming easily. I'm kind of a "last straw" sort of person but with kids you have to rise above that, dont' you?

will try to catch up properly soon.

LenniEd · 04/08/2008 16:10

Hi all, back from a very tiring but productive weekend, am ready to drop but still got a bit of work on DHs accounts to do tonight and DD very clingy today so don't think I'll get it done until shes in bed. I'm going to ask DH if he can stretch to letting me have a bit of a lie in tomorrow morning to catch up - well I did do a 10am - 9pm shift for him both Sat and Sun so think he might let me.

Jabber, I am the same about things like that - I find it hard to back down sometimes and the littlest things will set me off again. If he is making an effort then perhaps set yourself an amount of time in your head that you'll go with it for and if you are still finding things hard after that then review the situation. That way you are conciously giving him a chance but also not overcompromising. I try to do that with my useless mother - it gives me chance to calm down and think things over rationally, and sometimes by the time I reach my 'deadline' I have entirely forgotten about why I had vowed never to see her again.

BP - is that a serious or a passing do you think? What does DH think?

Indith · 04/08/2008 17:50

Ah the joy of recorders.

AQ next visit will be the wedding! It is this month! I have yet to get napkins, confirm numbers with hall and caterers, do table plans, buy favors, finalise timetable and tell bridesmaids and ushers their duties and a million other small things. You lot have done this how are you still alive? Why did you not tell me to just elope and have done with it?

I redecorated my kitchen with cottage pie today dropping it when I got it out of the oven. Then ds had some for dinner (that had stayed in the dish rather than scraped off the floor) and added to the mess. I was proud of that kitchen this morning as I had finished unpacking it and everything was in the right place!

Hope you are both ok today Jabber and Margo.

Thinking of joining the club BP? Good luck for the in law invasion prep!

castlesintheair · 04/08/2008 18:35

We only had 14 gatecrashers guests at our wedding Indith and that nearly made me run to the hills. I recommend Rescue Remedy. Good luck, you have my sympathy

Week to Scotland is now cancelled. This summer holiday is just not going to plan.

I agree Jabber, everything changes when you add DCs to the relationship equation. It really does make it harder. Hope you are ok.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 04/08/2008 18:38

Don't worry I'll be okay, in the grand scheme of things all my problems except DHs nan are minor.

I took dd1 to the GP today and she gave me an inhaler just in case she gets wheezy again. Her chest is clear and not crackly, so hopefully it will pass..

Indith, I can't believe you're getting married this month! - doesn't time fly? Enjoy and remember every second, the day goes too quickly. Oh and your cheeks will hurt the morning after from all the smiling you did the day before.

OP posts:
EustaciaVye · 04/08/2008 20:02

I had 60+ to my wedding day and then another 30 in the evening. Top tip is to organise it all yourself and dony rely on anyone else (if you are a bit control freaky like me) as then you know exactly whats happening when.

Olihan · 04/08/2008 20:27

Indith, I (and dh's mum, my sis, my mum and dh's sis) were putting favours together the night before the wedding - we forgot about them! DH and I hadto do a mad dash into chester to try and find somewhere that we could get boxes and insidey bits and ribbon about half an hour before everywhere shut - I wouldn't recommend that plan . Agree with EV about being No1 bod - delegate but make sure YOU are the one delegating. It'll all be worth it.

Aw Castles, you poor thing - more ((((hugs))), don't really know what to say.

Margo, how is DH's nan today?

Left DS2 with dh while I took ds1 and dd to a playdate. They had a lovely time and Daddy was very much the favourite when I got back, for the first time ever. I think he was quite pleased . (I certainly was - ds2 is a proper velcro baby to me usually)

accessorizequeen · 05/08/2008 12:17

Very exciting, Indith! I think you'll have a fab time once the rush is over. Do you have your scan coming up beforehand?

Of course I have yet to get married (engaged about 8 years now, sigh) and with 4 dc's I sincerely doubt it's going to happen anytime soon!

Mmmm, bp is that a serious ? I must admit even I am getting quite soppy over the tiny little vests folded neatly in my hospital bag and long to hold them.

Indith · 05/08/2008 12:40

Had my scan already, everything where it should be

Vests folded in hospital bag! You are organised! Mind you it must be getting very close now!

castlesintheair · 05/08/2008 12:56

Well done on scans everyone. When are you due AQ?

I am so over my baby-making days. Feel nothing now except TG I'm not doing it again. DH still has other plans

accessorizequeen · 05/08/2008 13:14

Sorry your 2nd holiday got cancelled too, castles - 3rd time lucky or are you giving up? I'm due 1st Oct, will be induced by mid-Sept if I get there.
Glad scan went well indith, keep forgetting you don't want to know sex! Lennied, yours isn't till sept is it? I figured with dt's they could arrive that early getting bags packed essential. Nothing else is done really, but I am cleaning & organising my kitchen between surfing . Unfortunately no cottage pie to spatter all over the floor...

castlesintheair · 05/08/2008 13:21

Trying to find somewhere in Scotland for 18th August. Not looking good. Have been offered bothy on river so far. Ideal for DH but not for me thank you very much

Not long to go AQ!! Definitely a good idea to be organised early. My friend's twins turned up at 30 weeks.

accessorizequeen · 05/08/2008 19:59

Oh, dear, 18th isn't far away is it? I'll ask my dad if he has any contacts, he still has a house on the Black Isle, would that be alright as it's quite lovely up there?
I get really nervous when people say I could have them any time though of course I know it's true!

LenniEd · 05/08/2008 20:24

Just saying hi - worn out and going to bed. Don't think these iron supplements are working am not well.

Indith, hearing about your wedding makes me wish I could do it all again - you'll have an amazing time. Glad the scan went well.

AQ - I came across a few newborn clothes whilst rooting around in the loft for my maternity things and they do look so adorably tiny! I think we are going to ask the sex now - DH has convinced me - as we will know whether or not to give away DDs things to my sister.

EustaciaVye · 06/08/2008 07:31

Glad your scan went well Indith.

AQ - I saw some newborn twins the other day. Very gorgeous indeed. (but then they were asleep )

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 06/08/2008 20:38

Lennied - I hope you can get some rest. Make sure you're keeping up your vit c - this helps absorption of iron (or something like that)

We went to see dhs' nan tonight. She seems in good spirits although more forgetful. (she has dementia) They are doing an ultra sound on her and hopefully discharging her tomorrow. Poor nurses were completely overstretched. While we were there, there was a lady who was in the next bed who was sick and a lady opposite calling out for the nurse during our whole visit. Dh went to get a nurse but couldn't find one.

I am waiting to see how dd2 is - she's not well now. She has thrown up three times today. Shes been quite phlegmy. Dh tried to give her nurofen and she threw up down him and then over me too 10 mins later. I have put her on the sofa for observation and she is dropping off to sleep. I don't know if I should put her in her cot now.

I've had a look at nhs direct and they say to phone them. I reckon I'll have to ring up em-doc for advice.

OP posts:
LenniEd · 06/08/2008 20:51

Sorry to hear about DD Margo - think NHS direct is your best bet. 'Tis so hard when they can't tell you what is wrong. Hope you get some reassurance from them.

Am in bed now! Am really suffering with the iron thing now - having bad headaches all the time and dizzy spells plus my eyesight is going blurry at the sides and the tiredness of course. Apparently all normal when anaemic but still not very nice and a bit scary. Am having my blood done again next week and if still no improvement am having jabs instead of tablets. Think it is absorbing the iron that is the problem, apparently it can be difficult to get your iron levels back up once they are low and your stores are depleted. Who'd be pregnant eh - oh yeah, about half of us! Good job you don't have to listen to the others moan as much as I do!

Castles - hope you have managed to sort your holiday out.

accessorizequeen · 06/08/2008 21:19

I hope you get some advice soon re: dd2, Margo. We always use emergency doc as we can get in there quicker than a normal gp appt but depends on your area doesn't it?

Lennied, that all sounds really awful, no wonder you're tired. Do you drink your tablets with fruit juice? It must be incredibly low for tablets not to be taking effect. I have constant dizzy spells but it's the low bp that affects me. I can't seem to force myself to eat during the day either, which would certainly help! Ravenous come evening.

Castles, dad suggested Sykes Cottages as they have a lot in Scotland?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 06/08/2008 23:13

I spoke to emdoc and they said to keep her cool - I gave her a cool bath this evening and just dressed her in her nappy for bed. She just had an ice lolly and really perked up. (sometimes you have to be naughty and give treats, eh?)

I've given her calpol and I'm going to put her to bed now.

OP posts:
EustaciaVye · 07/08/2008 08:16

Hope DD is a bit brighter this morning Margo.

accessorizequeen · 07/08/2008 13:11

Yes, hope she's better Margo. I think an ice lolly works in just about every situation to perk them up. I had a whole box of them to myself last week as I was so bloomin' hot!

LenniEd · 07/08/2008 17:31

Hope DD is feeling better - have you taken her to your GP? Poor little thing, must be worse in this weather too.

AQ - I have low BP too - think that isn't helping. Don't know how I manage to have low BP though since I have already put on half a stone and probably a bit more that I don't want to think about .

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 07/08/2008 18:59

Dh took her to GP this morning - she has antibiotics for a throat infection. She didn't get much sleep last night, bless her.

Did you have any luck with booking a holiday Castles?
