Egg and Sally- and Ginger - am shocked you are feeling so bad. Although I would be sceptical about the value of a questionnaire to assess your mental state you must be feeling pretty bad to score so highly. I scored 4 and feel realy guilty now! Sally try not to let the thought of going back to work ruin the rest of your time off. It will be hard but in different ways and you may find getting out in the daytimes helps. Have you looked into child tax credits? (I've been putting off filling in the form for ages) Just wondered if there's any way you can manage to reduce your working days so as to do less than full time.

Does anyone else's LO send themselves off to sleep by themselves? If LO doesn't stay asleep between last feed and being put into cot there follows a scream-a-thon when we leave him in his cot- a battle of wills which we always lose due to his skills in emotional manipulation.

Tyaca - do feel like I have had something amputated when I brush my hair!

Not looking forward to the first period returning after your tales. I'd heard they weren't as painful after you've had a baby... If you reduce b/f slowly (say with LO between 6 and 12 months) when do they reappear?

Count - at DP's behaviour. That's really out of order.

LO is now a very stable sitter and has been riding a little rocking horse . He can only roll onto his left side though and keeps waking up stuck staring at the wall and crying. He's only rolled all the way over once (apart from the 2 week old freak event) and that was cause MIL left him screaming til he was so mad. Glad to hear DD is getting some hair Egg!

I am wierd about car crashes too - don't like going in the car with just me and LO and it's always at the back of my mind when we plan trips. Have always been a bit of a worrier though and I thought I'd worry more than I do - will probably get worse though; not looking forward to the time when LO and all his friends get their driving licences... I try not to think about these worries too much though as it's the sort of thing that could end up paralysing your life. Princess is your DH's bike a push bike or motorbike? DP cycles from Finsbury Park to Paddington most days and I absolutely hate it - it just seems so dangerous. But he loves it!

Glad you're going to see a counsellor Princess - you sound like you might have a panic attack at the moment tbh. Look after yourself and take it easy as much as you're able to. Glad you've been able to talk to DH.

at DD sticking her tongue out Tyaca. DS has discovered his tongue too and chews it, sticks it out and blows raspberries all the time. He is a bit of a mummy's boy at the moment and tries to eat me whenever he gets in lunging distance. I have a lovely set of lovebites on my shoulder which is vey cute but a litte .

Hope you can make it to visit Egg Ginger! Should be fun.

Good night.

rozzyraspberry · 08/07/2008 08:09

Princess - the counsellor sounds like a really good idea. I think what tyaca said is right - you get through things at the time because you have to but they hit you harder afterwards. I'm glad you've been able to talk to your dh about how you've been feeling.

Gill - ds3 has managed to settle himself to sleep since he started sucking his thumb. Great at the moment but I know from experience I'll pay for it when he's older and we try to get him to stop!!

I know what you mean about worrying! My dh has just sold his motorbike and I was so relieved - not just for him but I worry that if the boys see their dad with a motorbike they'll want one when they're older.

Good luck with the packing tyaca!

Dh just home for work so I better go and say hi!

tyaca · 08/07/2008 11:07

rozzy i have a v clear memory of being four and my dad having to sell his motorbike to my uncle

gingermumi · 08/07/2008 15:43

Aww Gill thanks, it's strange but i don't feel that bad, i think it's just highs and lows really. I think the point about answering it for last 7 days only is right, if i had done i think it would have given lower score.

DH fixed lock but got wrong keys cut so am off now (with the broken key) to get some more done!

Ds fine at hosp today, they don't want to see him for 6 months. It was a bit of a rush going from meeting to hosp and back to meeting again but glad all ok.

Princess, not surprised you're feeling wierd, its got to be some sort of post traunmtaic stress thing, get all the support you can.

Am amazed at number of people who have same/similar irrational worries! Must be a mum-thing, it's good to know i'm not a cazy-lady! (well, perhaps only a bit !)

Have to go and get littleman from nursey then of to get get keys, hope it's not raining again, no coat!

gingermumi · 08/07/2008 15:44

That should read 'crazy' lady! der....

omy · 08/07/2008 22:40

count - men are like having another child sometimes!

Ginger - your menagerie sounds like a lot to deal with! I get grumpy just having to feed our cat!! Great news that hospital are happy with DS

Sarah - great that you are happy with the nursery place for your DS!

Princess - that 'too much coffee' feeling sounds like pre panic attack - great that you and DH are back on the same team - and great that you are going to see a counsellor. You really have had a rough time this year! Be very gentle with yourself!

Gill - my LO cries when she hasn't had a burp! So If she falls asleep at the boob you can be sure she will wake in 20 mins or so for a burp! I don't stress about picking her up from the cot if she cries, just cuddle her for a few mins then put her back in cot. Sometimes we do this 3 times before she goes to sleep.

Darling LO has slept through the night twice more! Reluctantly I had to wake her this morning at 5am for a feed, then 7am for another feed as I had to leave for work at 7.30 and I knew she had to last till 1pm when DH brought her up for lunch! When I got home at 5pm she was VERY hungry - she had BOTH boobs (normally has one per feed) and grunted crossly while feeding! Only 2 more days of work before the holidays!!! yay!

sallyforth · 09/07/2008 02:18

Hi to everyone, and thanks for your kind words.

Well went to HV and did the test again with her and had a lovely long chat. She says I do not have PND, I'm just having a normal reaction to a worrying situation - she commented that DHs long hours were "a recipe for disaster for us all" Have now had a chat to him re long hours and he is going to try to be a bit more sensible

She suggested to help me prepare myself mentally to get ready for work that I practise getting up at regular times and doing housework/chores in the morning and fun stuff in the afternoon so I am gonna try that, it sounds manageable and should stop my life being entirely ruled by the caprices of a PFB!

Have decided that HV is blardy fantastic as long as I don't expect her to advise on bf!!!!!

leesmum · 09/07/2008 08:26

Hi there, i've hardly had chance to get on here AGAIN DS2 now has his two bottom teeth and a top one is just about to poke through!! Thankfully he hasn't been too bad at night but the days have been a bit rough. He's become very clingy which is understandable. Tyaca he has settled into his room fine and bedtime is the only time he gets himself off to sleep, we just put him down and walk out of the room and he's gone within 5min

I havent done "the test" because to be honest i know some days are better than others and i dont want to do it and then put ideas into my head if its high but i'm sorry if some of you are struggling i'm guessing a man invented these sorts of "tests" because lets be honest they know f*@k all about everything!!!

Princess i hope it goes ok with the counsellor tomorrow, i'll be thinking of you. I't best that you go now while everything is still fresh and you dont leave things till you get in a really bad way xxx

Hi to everyone else, Egg i can't believe your two are nearly 6 months!! just think what they'll all be up to in another 6 months time

Bye for now x

beansprout · 09/07/2008 08:49

I still haven't caught up with everything yet, but I don't have much to add. Ds2 is not sitting up, rolling over, has no sign of any teeth and is waking up loads in the night. Arghh! I was up 6 times last night although it is usually twice.

Have not done the test, I think that more sleep would go a long way with me at the moment. We are also trying to move house (arf!) and I am trying (unsuccessfully) to sort out childcare for when I go back to work and anxiety about those things is very normal.

Pouring with rain, both boys at home, have had about 4 hours sleep. This is not a recipe for success!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/07/2008 09:01

DD is rolling all over the place now, she has two bottom teeth playing her up- though they are not through yet, She is very good-

She settles herself to sleep for her naps and bed time in her cot- if we are out and about she is harder to get to sleep as she is so nosey!!!!!

She has a dummy which i didn't want her to have and i am really thinking i should take it from her as i hate it!!! Ds had one, but from the age of 1 he left in in his cot, and happily handed it to santa when we visited before his 2nd bday- so it should not be a problem for Rosie either- but i really hate the horrid thing(i ws determind she would not have one)

Where has the time gone- she is 5.5 months old!!!! Its gone far too fast- i am broody already- (although we have said no more)i really would love one more, and if we had another bedroom wei would not think twice but i hated sharing a room with my lil sister when i was growing up, it would not be fair-

Whats more i have a boy and a girl who are happy, and healthy so what more could we need!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is ok- and not too wet with all this horrid rain!!!!!!!

Love the first dip in the sea photo gill!

Glad HV came up with some good suggestions sally, I'm only back at work in November but already dreading it and I used to like my job.

Egg DS has been standing from about 3 months too, I remember taking him to the cinema and he stood on my lap for the whole film. He will roll onto his side and stay there unless he wants food and I am lying next to him then he can roll right over for it. Men and their food!

Where do all the rescued animals come from ginger?

Glad the nursery got sorted sarah, bet you are really glad now.

Princess - good thinking making DH read the posts! Glad you have been offered counselling, you have been through so much, hope it helps.

I too have become a bit of a worrier, I remember going in for my c-section thinking my life insurance only starts tomorrow

Sorry you only got 4 hours sleep bean, hope you haven't got anything too tiring on today and the boys don't keep you too busy!

thequietone · 09/07/2008 13:30

I've been sitting here getting rather down that DS2 hasn't done any of the developmental stuff the rest of your children have. Not rolling over yet, not sitting up unaided, no teeth. Beansprout, good to see you're in the same boat. Maybe everyone's babies are a few weeks older than mine. Mine was born 25th Feb. I'm just waiting for him to do something major!

beansprout · 09/07/2008 14:25

Ds2 was born 23rd January!! There's still lots of time....

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/07/2008 14:28

thequiet one- your ds will do all the developmental things when he is good and ready- (my DD was born 7th feb so a fair few weeks between them) - babies are all different, so please don't get down about it!!!!!!

Been to see a friend this am, we ahd a good old chin wag- she is feeling fed up (her DC's are 13yrs, 4yrs 2yrs and 11mths-ALL GIRLS) cannot afford to go back to work but really wants to go back her DH is not really much help etc so she had a good moan and looked much brighter when i left!!!!!

Makes me think maybee two are enough!!!!!!

Hope everyone is ok!!!

rozzyraspberry · 09/07/2008 14:41

ds3 is 5 months on Friday and also is not rolling/sitting and doesn't have any teeth. I must admit I like this stage when you can put them down and know they can't go anywhere - I'm dreading having to keep all the lego/small toys out of his reach. I do like it when they can sit though as they can keep themselves amused easier. I'm sure my other 2 were around 7 months when I could plonk them sitting on the floor and be confident they wouldn't wobble over.

Hope you get more sleep soon Beany. Ds3 is not waking any more frequently but somehow I am finding it harder and harder to deal with. Can hardly drag myself out of bed some mornings which isn't like me. I think part of the problem is I tend to go to bed early (especially since ds1 and ds2 get up around 6/6.30) but as ds3 gets up for his last feed around 10/10.30 I have to stay up for that which is later than I would ordinarily. Then up around 1 and 4 - needless to say I'm not the cheeriest of mums when the older 2 want to come in and 'cuddle in' in the mornings!

Your poor ds2 leesmum to have lots of teeth all coming in at the same time. On the positive side I suppose it gets it out of the way at once.

Better go - ds3 is getting a bit cross with his gym now.

beansprout · 09/07/2008 17:26

Have been to the docs and he is still a bit concerned about ds1 (either that, or he fancies me - joke!!!!! ). Have to go back again in 3 weeks. Sigh.

omy · 09/07/2008 18:09

Oh Beany - what a bugger - what makes him still concerned? I guess it is good he is keeping an eye on things though.

LO can't roll over yet and no teeth here either! Lots of dribbling though and she likes to stand (supported) all the time. She likes to sit supported too! I will get one of those funny pod seats soon.

bovrilsarnies · 09/07/2008 21:43

Hi all, thought I would pop on and say hi to you all and chip in on the baby development conversation. My LO isn't sitting or rolling or have any teeth yet, but she can sit up if you support her lower back. (She was born 23rd Feb).

She is sleeping a lot less in the day than she used to, and I am starting to wonder what on earth I can do to keep her entertained all day! especially on days like today with it pi**ing down with rain and we can't even walk into town - coz I can window shop for Britain and she loves sitting up in the push chair looking around at everything!

She still wakes every 3 hours through the night for food and other times when she loses her dummy or has kicks her covers off etc.

omy · 09/07/2008 22:20

Every 3 hours! My heart goes out to you and Rozzy! Though last night LO did wake twice as I think she thought she'd better get in some eating at night as mummy keeps abandoning her during the day! Just bought some nice holle organic formula online and am determined LO will be drinking it long before work begins again in september!

omy · 10/07/2008 09:24

Morning all! Much nicer day than yesterday. Hope you are all enjoying your babes.

alkar · 10/07/2008 11:51

Had to go to the doctors this morning after another night of breathlessness I'm finally starting to admit I have asthma. First happened in the middle of my pregnancy then I ended up in a&e a couple of weeks ago as I couldn't get up the stairs without wheezing and now it has happened again. Its just weird that I have been fit and healthy my whole life and now at 32 I develop asthma

On the plus side though a neighbour has just knocked on my door with a load of strawberries out of his garden for us - I love living here!!

Off to see my friends newborn baby later, he's a week old now. Hope Daniel behaves himself he tried to eat the last baby we went to see

tyaca · 10/07/2008 13:39

hello all, just scanning and popping in to say hi. been away at MILs while DH painted all the woodwork. flat's starting to look great - cant believe we never sorted it out for ourselves! picking up keys to new place this afternoon but not planning to moce til weekend. bean - did not know you were moving too and sry to hear about your ds1. hopefully just a consciencetious (or indeed lusty) doc.

Gill79 · 10/07/2008 23:12

hello - good luck with the move Tyaca - rather you than me but exciting nonetheless. What stage are you at with moving Bean? Just looking or are you more progressed than that? That's one thing we definitely won't be doing for a while. It's not common knowledge but the credit crunch / slowdown / possible recession is actually mine and DP's fault- sorry. After however many years of ridiculous house price rises we bought our first place at the end of last year - there will now follow a massive recession and housing crisis and we will be stuck here for the rest of our lives.

LO is doing great although becoming increasingly, well, mental. If I take my attention off him for a minute he'll sit and shout repeatedly while banging the floor with his hands, he gets so excited by the sight of bottled water that his face goes all rigid and he almost manages to bum shuffle towards it hooting dementedly and he's also become obsessed with eating me - even if I'm not holding him he'll lean over and try to latch on to face, neck, shoulder, wrist. Have been feeding and watering him like crazy thinking that he's hungry or thirsty but it makes no difference - think it must be a security thing . He's also got into a wierd habit of sleeping through till a 4am feed and then having another at 5am. Strange. Is not too bad cause I get a long sleep in before then - hope those still struggling get better sleeps soon!

Hope all well with DS1 Bean.

Princess - how was counselling session?
