Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tyaca · 06/07/2008 18:58

hello all, not had time to catch up with everyone... eye-deep in cleaning and packing for move but thought i'd swing by . hello beansprout! btw, read thru our jan/feb antenatal threads the other day - recommend it guys if you ever have an hour to kill .

omy · 06/07/2008 22:13

OMG!! just screamed myself hoarse over the tennis!! What a match! Ty - have you sold your place?

tyaca · 06/07/2008 23:41

hello. proper post. omy, we were watching the final of the las vegas darts classic rather than the tennis. pure class us . sounds like work going ok for you? how long til you break up? and no, not sold flat. finally bit the bullet and decided to rent. have a huge to do list which we are crawlong thru. dh around so things getting done a bit quicker, but he's got loads of exam papers to mark so days whizzing past and stuff keeps getting carried over from one days list to the next.

ah sally, i dont envy you a workaholic husband. and like egg i too remember the 2am post . sorry to hear you're feeling low - are you feeling any better? egg at your "only cry during the day" comment. tho' nice to hear someone else fess up to being a crier. i find myself welling up at the smallest thing.

leesmum, how've the first couple of nights with ds2 in his own room go? i also have a head full of curls. used to spend hours straightening it, cant imagine ever being bothered again.

and ty gill for hair pic. looks lovely . does it feel strangely Not There when you wash it? how's the weaning going? you BLW'ing? i am spending loads of time on aitch's website at the moment, cant wait to start.

well, topshop went well and i only overspent a little bit and am going to be good and return a pair of shorts that are fab but just not going to wear that much. on returning from shopping trip i had suddenly why my clothes all look a bit strange... what with my smaller (if longer) breasts and my new supersized middle i have morphed into a Pear Shape.

omy · 07/07/2008 08:51

Ty - what a drag getting everything sorted for renting! But you probably won't regret it in the long run - it's always good to have a property in London! Darts!!!??? What is aitch's website??

Work is so easy that I'm almost feeling guilty! The last 2 weeks of term are a doddle - this week no students and staff parties. We have even been given a day off this week as a reward for a brilliant ofsted! (I was cleverly on mat leave at the time!) However they will get their pound of flesh back next term when I work every hour of the day for the christmas concert preparations!

Egg · 07/07/2008 10:03

Tyaca we have done the same. We still own our London house and it has been paying our rent here, so it all cancels itself out. However out tenant has given notice so the agents are currently trying to market it again, but current tenant has hideous furniture so it doesn't view as nicely as it did when we were there!

Hope everyone is ok today. Am trying to start chores but don't want to. It is 10am already.

Omy glad it is a nice way to ease back into work! Sounds perfect.

Have not dared weigh myself today, after the lemon slice incident and many more similar ones .

CountTo10 · 07/07/2008 10:30

Morning all! What a miserable day its gonna be, have got lights on here its that dark!!! Still ds1 finds it exciting cause it means he gets to have umbrella!!

Princess - so glad to hear from you and fantastic news that ferdie is recovering. I can't begin to imagine what you've been thru. I also have to point out that if my mil came back with that response, she'd have been watching the tennis somwhere else. Still it's past and hope you've been able to recover a bit x

Well I'm feeling all smug as I have pureed fruit & veg and made my own chicken & veg stock over the weekend!! I do enjoy it though.

I'm a crier especially when tired etc and have got worse as I've got older!!

So period came back and either I've got a short memory but i don't remember the first one being that bad last time. I think I actually prefer childbirth to what I experienced last week. I was in so much pain I was taking regular ibuprofen and just laid on the sofa all night in agony. I almost reverted to buying maternity towels it got that bad. I did manage to find some really good tampons, clearly made for elephants but still had to have night time towels and was having to change every hour for the first couple of days!!! I can't discuss waking up in the middle of night tues night, dp was nearly sick!!!! Luckily it's gone now but my god I couldn't do that every month I mean much more and I'm sure I would have had to have a transfusion!!! No wonder they didn't trust women in the dark ages!!!

Dc are good, ds2 is just perfect at the moment bless him. He's trying to sit up but no rolling. He can sit on the sofa propped up with cushions but not on the floor. It's nosiness more than anything else!! Ds1 seems to be getting over his difficultness and has been fantastic the last week which is such a relief. Him and dp aren't getting on the best at the moment though which is abit wearing especially as I think dp is unfair a lot of the time. We had quite a row yesterday as ds1 threw a huge tantrum over something he wanted to so but dp wouldn't let him (whilst he was trying to watch golf, tennis & formula 1) and ended up hitting ds1 quite hard on the leg. I intervened which I know is wrong but I just felt it was out of order and not the right thing to do. I'm sick of him taking out his tiredness on ds1 or trying to do something that clearly is a stupid idea while ds1 is around and I'm trying to clean, cook and do every other buggering thing!!! Plus in that situation it's the last thing that he responds to, all it did was make him hysterical. It just pisses me off that at the weekend he just blows all routines and disciplines out of the water leaving me to pick up the pieces when he goes back to work. I have siad to him now though its either get on board or piss off cause I'm not having the boys be smacked cause he's trying to watch sports instead of playing with them!!!

Phew, sorry kind of went into one there!!! Still like we've said before, better to get it out here than let it build up and ferment!!

Egg · 07/07/2008 10:59

Count I had a veeeeeeeeeeery heavy first period. ALthough actually come to think of it, I think it was the second one that was the bad one, the first was ok. I kept half joking to DH that I was hemmoraging(spelling is awful but can't be faffed to look it up). Bedsheets had to be changed etc. It has calmed down now I have had three or so thankfully.

As for your DP. It sounds awful. My DH is a bit crap at sticking to the rules that I spend ages building up with DS1. I know he would never hit any of the DCs though (even if they deserve it!), I am way more likely to hit when I am angry / stressed / tired than him.

DH keeps trying to watch Rugby at 8am on a Saturday morning. This is always a time of day that DS1 watches cbeebies (who am I kidding, it is cbeebies o clock from 7am to 7pm ). But tbh DS1 does watch too much tv, so we have tried to get DS1 to realise he has to share the tv, so watches some rugby, then a bit of Balamory, then some more rugby etc. DH will still happily play with DS1 / DTs while trying to watch the rugby anyway, and it is the only tv the poor man ever gets to watch!

It's funny my DTs are crap at sitting, but DS2 is fab at rolling (DD can't do either really...). DS2's real talent though is standing. Well not exactly standing, but from about 3 months all he wants to do is stand up on your lap etc, while you hold his arms. Now he can stand while you just hold his fingers a bit to help him balance. His legs are about 12 inches wide which probably helps his balance! DD is only just starting to bear a bit of weight on her little legs.

She looks v pretty today. And is finally getting new HAIR. The old stringy stuff has fallen out (or been picked out attached to cradle cap) and she has some new fluff. She looks like a baby owl.

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:08

Hey ladies,

Am at work but have found an empty room so i can read emails and order bday pressies for BIL online! Feel v naughty but CBA with work today. Whole day started crap, was late 'cos dd2 broke front door key in lock and so we had to go out back door (not a big problem i hear you say except that it's p*ing down and i had to carry ds and all his 'stuff' to front and my back door key would lock from outside). sorted out in the end but i was a bit grumpy and so was ds! Will have to leave work early (how sad) to try to fix lock/key problem.

Thursady - yes chinchillas are cute and lovely but we already have...three cats, two rabbits, two guinea pigs, three gerbils, a hamster and some fish so i didn't really want any thing else!! I have already had to rehome a fourth cat she rescued (it didn't get on with the other three) and a dog she found and brought home on the bus!

My weight went back up but has dropped back to 12st 10lb so no real advance there, no time to exercise and or walk anywhere at the moment. We're off to Devon next week so hopefully we'll doo lots more walking etc. there (mind you, i'll probably eat loads too!!). Keep thinking something awful is going to happen when we go, i'm a terrible passinger in the car and worry that we're going to have an accident or that something will happen to dh. silly, i know perhaps i'll do test too.

Sally, i was so stressed about coming back to work but it hasnt been as bad as i thought tbhj. one peice of advice, don't spoil what's left of your time off worrying about going back! sounds stupid but i had to try really hard not to be grumpy and upset and not enjoy time with ds. It was a real conscious effort but i managed it (mostly!).

Count, i would have intervened too, you need to have his support, just 'cos you're at home and he goes out to work doesn't mean your 'work' is any easier or less tiring. I'm sure your ds just wants soem time with his dad, perhaps you and dp need to negotiate some 'rules' and time when dp can have 'me time' (what the f**ks that anyway?!) that doesn't affect family.

BTW ds has only rolled over once, we all celebrated, he looked at us funny and hasn't done it since (he was 4 weeks early so perhaps he's just not ready yet). Am taking him for check up tomorrow re 'fits' (hasnt had one for ages) so i'll ask at hospital if he's doing ok.

Have a good day

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:09

Aww egg love the 'baby owl'! ds loves standing too, makes my arms ache! lol

Egg · 07/07/2008 11:15

Oooh ginger, just the lady. We are trying to plan a Hampshire meet (some of these lovely girls are coming to ME as I will struggle to get anywhere). Gill did a link to the meet up thread a week or two ago, and wondered if you are around as it is not too far hopefully for you and you will (I think) be off work for summer hols? Looks like the date might be 7 Aug (or poss 31 July). Both are Thursdays.

Funny DD rolled once too. But never again. And she can somehow turn over whilst strapped into her bouncy chair.

Good luck for DS's checkup. Hope it goes well and he has just grown out of his fits. DS2 doesn't do his juddering any more, although he sometimes starts a strange type shaking when he goes into a deep milk coma, esp if he has had to cry a bit whilst waiting!

Must must must do hoovering.

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:16

OMG, did the test and got 17, did it again and got 15! Do feel a bit low sometimes but not bad enough for medication! Not sure what to do now! Think i'll just be aware, keep talking to you guys and see doc if it gets worse!

Egg · 07/07/2008 11:17

Bugger about the door too... Not what you need. Are neither DDs around to stay in for a locksmith while you are at work?

Egg · 07/07/2008 11:18

Ginger so you must be feeling a bit like me then if I got 16... I really don't feel that bad, just have some very low points, but most are middle kind of points, and some high points!

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:19

Thats cool, would love to come to meet. Didn't see link, Winchester's fine for me and either day is cool too. Can you put link in so i can keep tabs on whats happening, am totally inept with technology so i don't know how to find the link apart from trawling bak though all the messages!

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:22

ooo cross post!! Yes sounds like me, am very happy and love ds to bits. Having another baby has been brilliant but I also get times when i feel very flat and basically quite sad. I do worry about things more than i should, sometimes i think because i'm so lucky to have ds that something bad will happen and that makes me panic, i guess that is why i scored highly on the test.

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:32

Door thing is a pain, true, dh says he might be able to sort it but am going to leave early anyway and see what i can do. Will need to get a new key cut so will try to do this, i don't think lock is broken! (hope not anyway)

Egg · 07/07/2008 11:34

Forgot to say, when we went on hols and hired a car, I was convinced DH was going to crash and everyone but me would die. Or DH would die and leave me with three DCs . But i think it was because it was a big car, and I was worried about him not being used to driving it. He was a master at it of course.

Will do link now.

Egg · 07/07/2008 11:36

Hampshire meet up thread here

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 11:57

Thanks for link, have posted.

We are borrowing my parents estate car and i keep thinking we will crash 'cos it's automatic and dh hasnt driven an automatic for years and he surfs and i think he will drown, especially as it will be the first time since his big op last year. It really scares me. I also keep thinking i'm going to get some dreadful illness and never see ds grow up! Perhaps i am depressed. I never tell anyone this stuff, perhaps i should!

gingermumi · 07/07/2008 12:00

Am going to have to do some work now, i'm Surprised no one has come looking for me! Will be leaving early so must at least look like i've tidied my desk or something!!

Egg · 07/07/2008 12:08

Ooops forgot you were working!

rozzyraspberry · 07/07/2008 14:42

Hi everyone! (especially beany - we were worried about you!)

I lost another lb this week so am getting there.

I haven't made any commitment to when I'm going back to work yet. I should really just get my arse into gear and give them a date but legally I only have to give 3 months notice if I'm not taking the full year off. I'm kind of waiting to see how the money lasts though!

I did the Edinburgh test and got 5 so ok here. I did have quite a few low days after ds3 was born but only on reading all your posts over the last couple of days did I realise I haven't had any low days for a while now. I think it's important only to take the last 7 days into consideration when doing the test. No harm in seeing the gp though if you're worried. Hvs should really be keeping an eye on new mums anyway (although my hv hasn't been to see me since lo was 6 weeks). fwiw egg I would probably cry every day if I had 2 babies AND a 2 year old!

Ginger - lol at the number of posts you've made. Here's me thinking we would have less time to post when we went back to work

She is 21 weeks and 4 days now, and doing well!!!

Preschool have confirmed that DS has a place in september which is a huge relief- the only draw back is its only 2.5hours per day (mon to fri) his crap nursery had him mon, wed , thurs for 5 hours!!!! all will be good my routine will just change slightly,

DH and i are pleased whre he is going though the facilities are fab!!!

I have bad cold but other than that all well in our neck of the woods,

So wish i could come to meet up!!!(sad)

OP posts:
princessllama · 07/07/2008 20:05

sally, i'm not even going to attempt that test today. mind you, week before last would have been no problem. it's horrible when you feel down and still have to cope with babies with a reassuring smile on your face. dh and i spent wednesday thursday and friday having severe arguments every evening and then smiling merrilly at the kids in the day.
bummer about the lock ginger. sounds like combining work and home is hard enough without the chinchilla and the locked front door. i am always having horrid thoughts about dying or dh dying (esp. on his bike, esp. when it's raining like now...). i think it's a natural part of being a mum.
egg i finally managed to find the tv clip. love the twins they're so sweet. ds2 looked angelic with those big soft eyes and dd was a cutie. you looked fab, v with it impressively-although something wrong with the sound so it came after you'd finished speaking which was weird.
tyaca hope the moving process isn't too painful.
i am feeling completely weird. depressed and tired but also as if i've had too much coffee. v panicky all the time and difficult to breathe when i get remotely stressed. relieved am not feeling angry with dh anymore though. i read him all your posts and i think it helped make him understand how much he'd been in denial about how ill ds was, that and the huge huge bollicking i gave him. he also agreed his mum was way out of line which always helps . every day i relive the horror of last week in my mind. had to go to gp with ds for meds today and all the nurses and receptionists were crowding round telling me how frightened the dr had been. was horrible. didn't help that have had big stress with ds's reflux medication today. dh and me are going to see a really nice counsellor on thursday to talk it through. hope it helps.

tyaca · 07/07/2008 21:40

my HV made me do the test with her a couple of weeks ago. but then she's got me pegged as a bonefida mental - scored low and ok. i do love a test though... and a score...

count am v impressed at your chicken and veg stock. i'm reguarly stuck in nigel slater-esque fantasies involving fresh soups made with ingredients just picked from the garden. i am just learning to make curries at the moment and tonight struck gold with a fab ginger chicken thing. sorry about testing times with dh - its strange isnt it how sometimes its harder at w/ends when there are two of you and it should be easier .

ginger - agh to rain and busted lock. did you arrive at work a bit soggy? v wise thoughts re making most of time off work rather than worrying about going back. i have just got a message from my old boss and am v glad i missed the call >

egg - omg yes ever since getting pg i have never been too far away from dh-is-going-to-be-in-a-car-crash worries. get myself in real state, and start muttering "must get life insurance, must get life insurance" when dh walks thru door

hiya sarah glad you've got the new nusery place sorted - and sorry your ds missed his last week at the present place.

princess - haha! you made your dh read our posts . the jury of Feb Thread MN'ers. did he read your posts too? i hope so. ughhhh for those bods at dr's saying how worried your gp was. not sure how helpful that is, tho' know they will just be being nice. sounds like you need a few full stops. i guess we're all programmed to get thru the toughest of times as they happen and then afterwards it all comes up to get you. dont know what those full stops could be...? me i'd choose between shiatsu, excessive MN'ing, or excessive MN'ing boozing. Reckon Health Care Bods probably wouldnt recommend the last one

busy bees here packing and cleaning still. move on mon. v excited. dd caught outside in first proper storm today. in sling, but well wrapped under brolly and tucked into dh's coat round me. i couldnt see her, but dh reckoned she seemed perfectly happy and just kept sticking her tongue out.
