Afternoon all. Really hope we hear something from princess soon. Getting a bit worried now as she was posting updates fairly regularly at first.

Sarah glad you had a lovely anniversary. I would have prob fallen asleep at the restaurant, so I think you did well!

Tyaca I am feeling a bit like you. I feel shattered, no life, no energy as never enough sleep, very little effort in appearance most days, have turned into a monstrous nag to DH (he is very good about it but occasionally lets it be known that he does not appreciate me taking out my bad mood on him). DS1, DS2 and I have all got bad throats / coughs / colds. DTs are not taking their milk properly, DD is hardly having anything, whether i offer milk before solids or after. THe only time she wants a proper full feed is at 2am kind of time, and I am now giving her half water then to desperately try to get her to sleep longer.

Ugh.

DS2 is rolling a lot now. He loves it and gets very excited. DD keeps sticking her leg in the air but gets stuck halfway and has only managed it once or twice. DS2 now hates his bouncy chair as it restricts him... Am thinking of getting the playpen put together again soon, these babies will be a hazard once they are moving, esp as DS1 has so many toys with small parts that he scatters everywhere constantly.

Lucy, I don't do much cooking tbh. I honestly think I would go over the edge if I was trying to prepare a meal from scratch for DS1 at 5-5:30ish pm each day, as well as making my own purees etc for DTs. DS1 has, in an average week, for supper, one or two M&S kids meals (spagbol / cottage pie / meaty pasta), they are yummy and not full of shite and he gets very excited about them, then he will have sausage and mash, salmon and mash, roast chicken and mash, meatballs and mash (you get the picture) cooked by me the other days. Nothing very extravagant! For lunch he normally has a sandwich, or quiche, or fishfingers.

As for the babies, they are mainlining on Ella's Kitchen sachets and Plum Baby pots.

Just looked over at DS2, he is now under the playmat (ie, the actual mat is on top of him ). He is kicking his legs around and cooing.

Gill, thanks for Beany update, I knew she still loved us really! at DS at your toddler group, hope he is ok. Let's face it, anything can happen when there is cake in sight .

Sally, fingers crossed re chickenpox. Am just waiting for my lot to get it, considering they are all at nursery some of the time. That will be a fun time .

Can't sign off without some poo talk. We had NINE poos from three DCs yesterday. Yes NINE. Even DS1, the non-pooer, did three (two golf ball sized, one the size of his arm ). And DS2 did a poo, rather than some poo for one of his! It was a lump, not a splat! Woohooo.

Is that the thread's first solid poo Egg?

Hope things look up for you and Tyaca. Hope those pesky kids start to behave themselves.

I am HOT and sweaty and grumpy although I have had quite a dramatic haircut today. It is short and bobby and supposedly a bit blonder. Three hours in the salon but the magazines were a bit clever for me.

leesmum · 03/07/2008 08:07

its so nice to have the computer up and running again, although it did make me realise how much time i am spending on it though what with MN and Facebook i was spending loads of time on here. Needless to say my house is spotless and i managed to re-stain all the garden panels and get all them other jobs done around the house that i'd been putting off for ages

We had a really bad night with DS2 he was awake on and off all night, we gave him calpol and nurofen but eventually the only thing that settled him was to put him in bed with us, when i woke up this morning he was facing me and had his little hand down my PJ top on my boob aahhh.

I was planning to go to playgroup this morning but DS2 is still a bit cranky so i'll see how he is when he wakes up.

Bye for now x

tyaca · 03/07/2008 08:57

omg - i think i would leave home after a day with nine pooey nappies.

oooh... new haircut gill. how is it? are you happy? dont suppose you could put a pic up, even briefly, for nosey us to look at?? .

heye leesmum, sorry to hear ds 2 had a bad night. hopefully he'll wake up feeling a bit better.

dh is at home. hooray and hurrah. today i am going to throw hand dd over and catch the bus into town for a day of shopping reading and all round being on my own.

Egg · 03/07/2008 10:05

Tyaca you having DH for TWO MONTHS.

Leesmum, you made me smile with DS2's hand on the boob.

Gill, bet your hair looks lovely. Does this mean you can't tie it back any more?

Had awful awful night. Have been awake since 3am. DD woke at 1am but went back to sleep after a few mins without me going in. Then she woke at 3am when I fed her. Then she woke again at 4:20am. Had a huge burp and went back to sleep, but she woke up DS2, who then couldn't get back to sleep, so I fed him at 5am, he burped, went back to sleep, but 5 mins later threw up his whole feed (8oz) over himself. If it wasn't 5:30am and I hadn't been entirely shattered I would have laughed as he looked quite funny as he was entirely white. His whole head and hair were coated in milky puke. So then he was sobbing, and that woke DS1 up, who then wanted milk. Had to change DS2s bed sheets and sponge him down etc. Everyone went back to sleep briefly except me, and DS1 and DD were both awake at 6:20am.................

So went into town after dropping DS1 at nursery and got some little DT clothes and some balls to make DS1 a ballpit in the travel cot, which has cheered me up!

alkar · 03/07/2008 10:19

Glad you found a new nursery sarah, think its well out of order being told off for having an opinion. If it makes you feel any better my first anniversary was the day I came out of hospital after having DS, I was that sore from the section I didn't even write DHs card

How everything going being back at work and feeding LO omy? DS won't take a bottle either but luckily I'm not back at work until Nov/Dec

Sally - my DS was exposed to chicken pox a few weeks ago but he didn't get it so fingers crossed for you

Hope you have a good shopping trip tyaca and get those vouchers spent!

Egg 9 poos wow, DS has just done his first since saturday Sorry you had a bad night, hope you aren't too tired today.

Cute story waking up with James on your boob leesmum.

Right off to playgroup now, 30 mins late but whats new!

leesmum · 03/07/2008 11:04

Gosh egg it sounds like your night was much wore than mine BTW i saw your T.V. appearance and the twins are beautiful your DD was bigger than i thought you'd be and you looked the ulimate "Yummy Mummy". Did you not buy something for yourself on your shopping trip?

Tyaca a day out shopping by yourself make the most of it. I'd be nipping in somewhere for a quick pub lunch as well if i were you (a liquid one that is!)
Have you and DH made any plans for days out for this summer?

Alkar have fun at playgroup, we're not going today James is very clingy and just wants snuggles which is ok by me. How is Daniel doing with his feeding? is he putting weight back on?

BTW which teething gel do you lot think is the best? DS1 wasn't impressed with the gel and i'm not entirely sure it did much good, but i'm nipping out in a bit to get some for DS2 to see if it helps but i'm not sure which is best, anyone got any preferences? ta x

Egg · 03/07/2008 11:36

Leesmum I really rated Anbesol with DS1. You have to ask for it as it is behind the counter. It is a liquid (although think it might come in gel form but not suitable for children...). It is super powerful, try dabbing some on your own mouth! But it did the trick for DS1. No teeth yet for DTs though. Am half wanting teething to start, as sooner we get it over with the better, but also hoping they stay toothless til next year!

The novelty of DS2 rolling over has worn off. I can't leave him on the floor unless I am doing nothing else except play with him as he rolls within about 2 mins, then stays on his tummy and then after a minute gets upset and starts to eat the carpet whilst sobbing and he can't turn over again. It means I have to strap him in his chair while feeding DD or else I have to keep stopping to roll him back over every 2 mins.

Leesmum thank you for your kind comments! DD looks a really good size on tv, but if you look at my profile you will see she really is much smaller than DS2 (have a couple of new pics). She has started drinking hardly any milk again this week as I tried her back on powdered formula so it is back to the bloody expensive cartons again and straight away she had 5oz at 10:15am after only having 2 or 3 all week.

I often think about a nice pub lunch on a Monday when DCs are at nursery, but I can't as even if I only have one beer / glass of wine I know I will smell of alcohol and I can't turn up at 5pm smelling of booze .

alkar · 03/07/2008 12:00

Back from playgroup DS asleep and on MN already

Had Daniel weighed last week leesmum and he had put on 9oz in a week so I didn't bother getting him weighed this week as I know he's OK. Re teething gel, I have calgel which seems to work although the tube has split and it went all over my bag so beware. I also have nelsons teething crystals which seem to work and I think he likes eating them too!

Egg · 03/07/2008 12:08

BTW, forgot to say, only ONE poo from all three yesterday after the poo-athon the day before.

Alkar glad Daniel is doing well .

mitfordsisters · 03/07/2008 14:01

lol at liquid lunch. could do with a half myself

ds is sitting on my lap being very sweet.

went to baby massage class this morning. he did a wee and cried nearly all the way through it (as usual). dh asked why i was learning to massage him and did ds have a bad back? think i might give up on the idea.

gill, show us your new hair! i'm desperate for a hair cut. so embarrassed by state of my barnet, that i wear a clip in my fringe so it's clear that i'm 'growing it'.

egg, you poor woman - i hope they sleep like little angels tonight.

Egg · 03/07/2008 14:07

Well DD slept for 2hrs 40 mins just now and DS2 is still asleep, getting on for 3 hours. It's unheard of. So I didn't take advantage. Grr.

Does your DS normally enjoy massage? If he does I would carry on, but if not then prob not really worth it!

Off to feed DD now. Hoping she is hungry!

leesmum · 03/07/2008 15:07

mitford maybe you could try doing some massage at home, baby and you might be more at ease and you could do it at a time that suits you. x

EGG guess what i've just done.......i went to chemist with DS1 before, walked straight up to the counter as calm as you like and said " can i have some ANUSOL please" i could feel all the other customers looking at me as if to say "has that woman no shame about her sore arse" i realise my mistake and the pharmasist started to laugh at me DOH! Anyway i got some ANBESOL but DS2 is asleep again so i'll try it out in a bit.

Alkar i see that daniel is putting pleanty of weight back on, are you still giving him some solids?

Egg · 03/07/2008 15:41

OH I REALLY AM ROFL! That is so funny leesmum..... at least you realised rather than trying to put it on the poor lad's mouth!

Egg · 03/07/2008 15:41

I am still laughing .

mitfordsisters · 03/07/2008 15:44

That's quality napping Egg.

Sorry to hear about your arse Leesmum - rofl

I'm going to try the massage again tomorrow.

sallyforth · 03/07/2008 17:27

Oh leesmum that is too funny... you had me chortling away there.

Alkar at not going back to work for so long yet. am dreading my own return to work.

Egg you do a lot more cooking than I do! (which is practically none, these days). Lovely pics of your DCs on your profile, esp that one of your DS1. The one of your DD at the computer is very cute! Sorry to hear your DD turns her nose up at cheapo Cava and is demanding Bollinger hope this is not a sign that she's going to develop other princess-like tendencies as she grows up! (you know... like the fairy story The Princess And The Pea). How's her weight doing?

Gill yay for getting a haircut! I had mine cut a few weeks ago but I swear at the moment you'd never know! I am using my mat leave to grow out my layers so it looks really scruffy at the mo.

mitfords sounds like my experience of baby massage. we were told you couldn't do any massage if LO was (a) asleep, (b) feeding or (c) crying. Well, at the time (8 wks or so?) DS did nothing else except those 3 things!!! I only went to the classes because they were free and I needed to get out of the house (a VERY underrated reason for these things IMO).

tyaca how cool that your DH is at home now - makes up for all those late nights at work. you should take the opportunity to pamper yourself a bit - lots of long baths etc!

rozzyraspberry · 03/07/2008 19:47

Hi all.

I'm feeling a little traumatized today - ds1 had his last day of pre-school nursery. Made a complete ar** of myself by bubbling away when I went to pick him up - was managing to hold it together (just!) until dh told the teacher I was feeling a bit emotional. She gave me a cuddle and I was gone. He's been there for 2 1/2 years with the same teacher and has been so happy there. It's not the first time I've done it though - I cried on ds2s first day there in January - blamed that on pregnancy hormones but I've obviously just turned soft. We then picked up his school uniform so he was admiring himself in the mirror whilst modelling them.

I'm so jealous of your lone shopping trip tyaca - I hope you see lots of things you like!

Leesmum - I bet the chemist wondered why you wanted anusol for teething

Hope you have a better night tonight egg - there I was feeling sorry for myself being up at 5am this morning. Solid poo already - not looking forward to the nappies when they start to get smellier like that!

leesmum · 03/07/2008 20:26

Ahh Rozzy there's nothing wrong with getting upset especially when it involves your children, we also got most of DS1's uniform this week and i started blubbing just because he had a red tie on he asked if he could wear his spiderman t-shirt to school and i said that he had to wear the same as everyone else so they all looked the same, so he come out with "but mum how will you find me when it's hometime?"...more tears.

rozzyraspberry · 03/07/2008 20:37

Is that a pre-school nursery school leesmum? Ours don't have to wear a uniform until they start primary 1 when they're 5. That's so sweet your ds1 asking how you would find him if he had the same as everyone else on

princessllama · 03/07/2008 20:50

hi it's me. finally home. don't know where to begin really. it's been a terrible terrible week.have mil here to help so don't have a moment to myself to finally relax and have a good cry which is what i really want to do. luckily she is going home tomorrow. and i should be more grateful really. anyway the only thing that matters is that ferdie isn't dead. i will post when i manage to free myself...
