Hi all, Callum can now sit up, and is starting to push himself along while on his tummy, he will be crawling soon he has been very poorly for a month, we were rushed to hospital last week in an ambulance when his temp shot up and he had freezing feet (sign of menigitis (sp?). he now also has an infection on his lungs.

DanJARMouse · 11/06/2008 23:07

SGK, so sorry you are having trouble with Callum, thinking of you all and big snuggles to the little guy.

Have uploaded a few new pics..... Daniel isnt so little any more! x

SparklyGothKat · 11/06/2008 23:09

wow he is big!!!! I have new pics on my profile too, callum is no longer that skinny baby

DanJARMouse · 11/06/2008 23:12

Maria, he is massive! Good on him!

Daniel was 16lbs 13oz about 4-6 weeks ago! Is just going into 9-12mnth clothes because he is so long!

SparklyGothKat · 11/06/2008 23:13

callum was 14lb 8oz 2 weeks ago

DanJARMouse · 11/06/2008 23:14

but that is really good! Considering Daniel was double Callum's birthweight!

SparklyGothKat · 11/06/2008 23:15

he is just going into 3-6month clothes! lol!! he is the oldest on here and the smallest! hehe

Greedygirl · 12/06/2008 13:48

Hi everyone, it is postively old skool on here with Sparkly and Jarm! Hello, your LOs are looking beautiful.

RG - Ellie's new sleep routine sounds fab, Adam is a bit crapola at going to sleep by himself.

Febes - sorry you are feeling stressed, think stress definately affects how much you can express, I expressed some the other day just for comfort and got loads but the pump wasn't sterilised so I had to chuck it anyway! How was the childminder?

Loopy - come out, come out where ever you are! I have hired a Jetpack for 2 weeks for our hols and Adam seems to like it. We are still taking a lightweight stroller cos Adam weighs a ton but I am really looking forward to a bit of baby wearing.

Going away to stay in a country cottage tomorrow in Rutland. No idea what there is to do there and the weather looks crap but never mind! No internet access! MN withdrawal symptoms.

jetgirl · 12/06/2008 21:04

I had William weighed today - he's 17lbs 13oz, which is how much DD weighed at her first birthday!! No wonder he feels so massive to me! He's feeling much better now, the antibiotics seem to be doing the trick, and now that his frist tooth is properly through he's much happier.

I'll catch up properly later, got to watch heroes...

RGPargy · 12/06/2008 22:28

Jarm/sparkly - your boys are lovely!

Sarah - have a great time in Rutland! never been there (and dont even know where it is!) but i'm sure it's lovely!

Jet - wowsers, he's a great weight isn't he?! Really pleased he's feeling happier now.

I went and bought DD a little bath seat today as her baby bath was becoming comically too small for her. She sits in it ok but keeps slipping forward on the seat and as it's got a vertical crotch bar at the front, it ends up that her little fanjo is pressed right up against the bar, which cant be very comfy for her! DP isn't very impressed with the seat and thinks we should just carry on using the cradle thing we have, but use it in the big bath with some non-slip shapes that you stick to the floor of the bath. I'm a little inclined to agree with him actually.....

DD has been very good at taking any food that i give her. Today for lunch she had sweet potato, carrot and parsnip mash/puree and although she pulled a face that told me she knew it tasted different than usual, she still ate it all up with gusto! bless her, she's really loving her food!

Hope you've all had a nice day today.

febes- hope your feeling better today. how was the childminders?

jet- thats a brill weight! i have no idea what raimee is at the mo as hasnt been weighed for so long- i might take her to mothercare just to use their scales hehe! aww you'll have to get a pic up of him with his little tooth!!

greedy- hope you have a great hol no matter what the weather is like (fingers crossed itll pick back up!) v jealous here all the same!

rg- the bath seat sounds painful !! lol. am glad you mentioned them though as ive been looking at them too. i want to get that little bath mat with the dolphin seat from mothercare but raimee isnt sitting up v strongly yet so dont think shes ready.at the moment shes getting in with us as her bath is so small now! (funny isnt it, they used to seem so small in the bath! i seen a newborn in the pub the other day and neither me or dp could believe raimee was ever that small!)

dont know if you seen it but that big baby prog has scared the life out of me! can not wait to start on diet now!

its raimees christening next week (though dp now wants to delay it due to new job/ lack of a wage for a few more weeks situation so we shall see! may end up in july now!), we were just planning on going across to the pub over the road which has a nice beer garden, and getting everyone a few drinks in, maybe a buffet. do you think thats ok? we havent really got the money at the mo to hire a hall or anything, plus were not inviting a huge amount of ppl, and our house and garden is a mess so thought this would be the best idea. do you think its ok or that i should be doing something a bit bigger?

Hope everyone has a good day in this lovely weather xxx

RGPargy · 13/06/2008 12:15

Sam - Ellie isn't sitting up very strongly either so maybe that's why she slips forward.... I never thought about putting her in the bath with me, probably because i dont have baths, just showers. I might start doing that tho, great idea and lots of fun i bet too!

As for your christening, well it's a personal family affair IMO, so you should do what you want to do. I think hopping over the road to the pub for drinks and a buffet is a brilliant idea!

No news for today. I'm going to go to Asda in a mo and get DP his very first father's day card and i'll get one for my dad too i suppose lol. DP, DD and I are going for a little walk on Sunday round the local country park. he doesn't know it yet but i'm planning a picnic to take with us, including two miniature bottles of fizzy wine to pop too lol. I'm going to get some little cakes and crisps etc to go in the picnic bag while i'm there. Keep everything crossed for the weather please girls!!

Have a nice day everyone.

Hi all!

Febes, how are you doing? Term will be over soon - bet you're relieved.

RG, the picnic is such a cute idea! I love it. We're going to my parents to can't copy it but it is a great idea.

Jet, dont know what R weighs but she's pretty heavy too and has piled the weight on lately...

Loopy - where are you??

Hi Jarm! Lovely to hear from you.

Sam, that sounds great. People dont expect masses from a christening - it's getting together that counts and celebrating Raimee's life, so it sounds perfect.

News here is we're nearly ready to exchange - keep your fingers crossed that it does happen! It can so easily crash suddenly... getting quotes for removal this afternoon and have to start tidying this weekend.

Take care everyone!

RGPargy · 13/06/2008 14:29

Keeping everything crossed for you Choc!!!

DanJARMouse · 13/06/2008 20:34

hi guys!

Sam - Daniel's christening is booked for 29th June. Am really looking forward to it. Got him a Jasper Conran gown which I cant wait to see him in! We are just doing the church thing and then coming back to our house for a buffet. A few bottles of wine and a few cans of beer and Im sure people will be happy! (Tough if not!)

I really wish Daniel would cut a tooth, he has been so grumpy lately. Really whining and whinging, have been dosing him up with bonjela and the like which settles him for a bit but thats it. He is totally off his food as well, just wants his milk... so not like him!

Doing a car boot sale tomorrow to get rid of all Daniel's baby stuff - had to buy him 9-12mnth sleepsuits the other day because his toes were being crammed into the 6-9 ones! He is sooooo long!!! Also had to go and buy the girls new shoes today and they have both shot up a size each in the last 10 weeks so really hoping the car boot goes well to cover what I spent today!

jetgirl · 13/06/2008 21:34

I never made it back last night, William just kept waking and didn't settle until about4!! he's gone down nicely tonight though - probabaly knackered!

Sparkly - that must have been scary, hope Callum's much better now.

Jarm - I'm sure that tooth will come through soon, it's felt like William was teething for months, and yet I was still surprised when one actually appeared! Hope you make lots of cash tomorrow!

RG - your fathers day plans sound nice. I suddenly realised I hadn't sorted anything earlier today, so I'm going to do DH breakfast in bed or a cooked brekkie. The kids have made cards at nursery so that's one less thing to worry about.

sam - the christening do sounds perfect. People remember the occasion more than the food anyway (unless it's my brother who missed William's christening as he got stuck behind a tractor and arrived in time for the food!!) You will all have a lovely day.

choc- good luck!

Have been all Nigella today. I finished making a dress for DD, then we made a cake for my dad as it's his 60th. DD was in charge of decorating the cake - it's pink and looks like it's just about survived an explosion in a hundreds and thousands factory . It's the recipe on p 260 of Feast by Nigella, though we couldn't put chocolate on it as Dad's allergic to it. The sponge looks amazing and I can't wait to eat it.

William's now sturdy enough to go in the big bath with DD, it's so cute watching them together, and he doesn't care a bit when she throws water at him. She poured 2 beakers of water on his head this evening while in the bath, and he just laughed

Have a good weekend, and happy fathers day to all the daddies!!

littleoldme · 13/06/2008 22:21

Choc- really hope the house stuff goes smoothly. If not you can come and live with me

Sam - The Christening will be fab. Everyone coming will be there c'os they care about the three of you and will make sure it's a fab day.

Hi Sparkly - That little boy of yours is getting big.

Greedy - Have a fab holiday. WHERE is Rutland ??

Jet - Sounds like you've been V dom god. save me some cake, sounds yummy

Great to see you again JARM. hope you make oodles of cash on the car boot. How's work going?

RG- Hope you reslove your bathing dilemma. I always put T is the big bath but keep it fairly shallow. There's just not enough room in our bathroom to store anything else.

I went into work on Thurs and picked up my new timetable. I'm feeling loads better about going back now. They are easing me in gently and our new boss is excellent. the whole atmosphere of the dept has improved.

Poor old Thomas though. I was welcomed in the car park by a big group of year nine girls who screeched adoringly over him. Poor lad woke up to to a gaggle of loud gigglily girls and burst out crying!

I've updated my pics X

RGPargy · 13/06/2008 22:46

LOM - T is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

DD has been asleep since 9.30 - that's coming up for nearly 3 hours!! i've been in to check on her and she's sparko in her cot, bless her. Is it normal for them to nap for so long?!!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 14/06/2008 17:09

Rg - Thanks - we think so. If I were you I'd take the rest when you can!

SparklyGothKat · 14/06/2008 17:12

lol Jarm Callum has only just gone into 3-6 months and Daniel is already bigger than him hehe

Febes · 14/06/2008 18:04

Hi!!
I am feeling much better now. We found a nursery so Anabel will start there on Monday. DH will be able to work more which will be good as we have no money at the moment. Its quite expensive at £47.95 a day but it seemed fine and she only there for 6 weeks.

I went to a NCT sale today and bought some sleepsuits for Anabel in 6-9months because she has nearly grown out for the 3-6 months ones. I also got loads of new toys and some stuff to send my nephew for his first birthday and I only spent £15- bargin.

RE- Baths -I just lie Anabel down on her back in the big bath and fill it about 10cm full or so. She can now sit up in the bath but its a bit slippy so I sit her on a facecoth and she loves it. When I let the water out I put her on her tummy and she swims up and down the bath.

I went to baby signing the other day and loved it so I'm trying to do the signs for milk and food but I always forget. It was really good though and I'm looking forward to next week.

Must go. Love the pics of your babies I must upload some new ones of Anabel soon.

RGPargy · 14/06/2008 20:11

Glad you've feeling better now Febes!

£47.95 seems extortionate for a day nursery!! Having said that, i've not had to deal with a nursery since about 1993 so i dont really know what the prices are these days lol.

Glad you found some bargains at the NCT sale. Was it manic there? I keep meaning to go along to one but i always miss them.

Good idea about the flannel. I never even thought of that! I'll give that a go next time she has a bath. Tonight we had a bath together and it was lovely! We both sat and played together and she seemed to really enjoy it. I had my legs out in front of me and then she was laying on her back on my legs and i was raising her in and out of the water. made her giggle.

What sort of things do they teach you at baby signing? I've got a baby sign book that someone very kindly gave to me and i've been signing the milk sign to Ellie ever since she was about 3 months old. Now that she's eating, i'm also signing the eat/hungry sign to her every time i give her food. She seems to watch the movements i make so i'm hoping that she'll catch on what i'm on about and one day she'll surprise me and sign back to me! on the two occasions that i've not said the word to her but just done the sign, she seemed to know what i meant and started kicking her legs about excitedly like she normally does when she knows what's coming. I'll be interested to know what they do in a proper class. I think i might enquire.

Have a nice evening every one!

xx
