Nope, still no mil, tis very odd, but then she is really weird, she will never call us, unless some minor drama has happened and then we get summoned over to hear news in person, or told to call sil or bil cos its not her place to say. However if we don't call in a few days she gets really upset, we should be making more effort. My family are so easy going, and she just isn't. Anyho, a couple of weeks left till start of term, sure she will turn up. It may be that she told us she was going away and no one listerned?

DanJARMouse · 19/08/2008 17:28

got him some lovely trousers from Next, i love next!!!

Some gorgeous brown cords, nice dark denim jeans, beige cords etc

Some long sleeve t-shirts and a beautiful knitted jumper in brown with next on the front.

oooooh i LOVE LOVE LOVE buying boys clothes, such a change from yukky girly pink things! (No offense to those with girls, but im bored of it after 2 DD's!)

LittleMissBliss · 19/08/2008 19:25

Hi all. Keep losing this thread.

Coby is a monster he drives me potty on rainy days. Going after stuff that he's not allowed. Shoes, books, sky box, plant pot etc. Drives me insane and i feel bad for constantly having to say NO!.

So today we went to Monkey bizness its a big ball park, soft play, and giant climbing framed indoors kids area. It was hell. Far too many screaming (joyus) children and loud music. Ds loved it, when he got used to the loud noise. But was too scared to crawl about. Which was a shame. Because he doesn't have a large area to roam arround in at home. He's becoming strong on his feet now and can hold himself up with one arm holding onto the sofa. He has recently learnt to wave hello and goodbye. Which is really cute!
I'm dreading the bruises stage.

Monkey bizness is on a big complex which has a splashdown lots of chain restraunts, cinema, bowling and also a gym. So today i signed up. I have to go at least twice a week for a month to get my joining fee back so that's incentive to get of my less pert bum. Membership includes pool use and all classes. So i'm going to do a spinning class once a week and maybe kick boxing. I can never keep up with aerobic classes so will be giving that a miss. I can also take Coby swimming for free too so thats great! and there's a sauna too, oooh fancy!

I hate weaning!!!! Well not the weaning part as he'll eat pretty much anything i rustle up, but cleaning and hoovering the highchair after every meal. I sometimes think oh i wont bother, it'll only be dirty again in a few hours. But force myself to clean the damn thing.

Glad to hear all your little ones are doing well and are happy. Shame about the sleep we have finally go thereish it does sometimes slip which is a shame. Nice to know that they are all doing things at different paces. The baby down the road is walking already at just 10months!!!

Greedygirl · 19/08/2008 22:01

Hi LMB! Nice to see you on here, glad Coby is thriving. I went to a soft-play place with my friend and her little girl the other day and my DS looked aghast at all the noise! He is a proper little snob lol. Being stuck in with the bad weather is crap, Adam loves being outside and gets v.arsey if he can't get out and about at least once a day. God knows what we are going to do over winter, our living room is tiny!

RGPargy · 19/08/2008 22:30

hi LMB!

We have a monkeybizz near us somewhere i think. I have also taken DD to a soft play place. She hated the first one i took her too (it was REALLY noisy) but didn't mind the second one we went to as it was much quieter. It might have had something to do with the time of day that we went tho, as we didn't go til about 4ish so most of the kids had gone home by then (hooray!).

I LOVE the weaning stage!! It's lovely to see DD tucking into all sorts of tasty morsels. Just the way she shovels it in is enough to keep me entertained lol.

JARM, sounds lovely, I just got a mamas and papas gorgeous coat on ebay for £12 very excited about it. LMB I'm with you on the cleaning up after weaning thing. Isla is full on all the time too, although recently she has started sitting well which is fab, I think that she actually learnt to crawl first and sit later!
We haven't done soft play centres yet, they sound stressful. But I'm sure dd will love it. Nice to know I'm not the only one with a tiny livingroom. Wish the weather would cheer up. Off to Scotland tomorrow Going to see a shiny new baby, can't wait.

jetgirl · 21/08/2008 20:47

JARM - I love next too, I got William some trousers and the same jumper as you just last week, so very cute, and I know what you mean about buying little boys clothes, they are so cute.

LMB - glad you found us again! Weaning is messy isn't it? But it doesn't last forever... V. impressed with all your fitness activities (I'm currrently eating a lovely bag of chocolate truffles as I type, so feel guilty now).

wonderstuff - hope mil appears before term starts!

Today has been a really good day. My 5 GCSE students got their results - 1 A, 1A, 1B and 2Cs so I'm thrilled. They did the course off timetable and had to put in a lot of independent work so did really well, and of course it means my pass rate this year is 100% A - C!

And, even more exciting...William crawled he looked so pleased with himself, though I shall be even more exhausted now!

We're off on holiday tomorrow, for a week in Liverpool, which should be fun, and it's DD's 3rd birthday on Monday so we're having a little party for her.

have a lovely bank holiday weekend, here's hoping for some sunshine

LittleMissBliss · 21/08/2008 21:15

Wonderstuff OOh shinny new baby. I'm so broody at the moment, really look forward to TTC.

jetgirl Well done on the results! Bet you feel a sense of pride for your students, makes all the hard work it.

well done William, your life is now over as you know it! Have a lovely holiday and hope your DD has great day and the sun shines for you.

LittleMissBliss · 21/08/2008 21:16

hard work worth it.

sam86 · 22/08/2008 15:20

Hi everyone! i miss you all!!
having a nightmare with new house and stupid plasterers etc. still not in yet though have to be out of here by first week of sept! argh!
in a crazy moment i offered to take my nieces to safari park tomoz, it looks like its going to cost a small fortune as well as sending me round the bend with so many kids around lol! it is nice and quiet when its just me , dp, and dd! i must be mad haha.

ive only managed to read up a little bit, i havent braved the soft play centres either, though my sister took her to a wacky warehouse party with her kids and apparently she loved it! (shes so nosy i think she just lvoes watching all the other kids!). cleaning up the highchair is the worst- there is always mushed up food stuck in the tiniest corner!
congrats with the results jet!! and make sure you see all the lambies (mini superlambanans!) in lpool! i love them!

found a nursery for when im back in uni, seems really good and i just turned up without an appt to have a look and they were meeting all the ratios and the babies all seemed happy and occupied. im dreading leaving dd there though- i know il be crying and staring through the window like an escaped lunatic!

im still engaged in the bottle- cup battle with raimee, she is winning though we've come to a compromise with a soft cup type teat. il keep trying with proper sippy cups though!

hope your all well, and fingers crossed for a little bit more summer pls!
sam xx

ChocolateHobnob · 23/08/2008 10:18

Sam, I'll be the same when DD starts nursery - in just over 2 weeks time!

Jet - well done! and enjoy Liverpool. Bet it'll be fun with DS crawling everywhere...

RG, been meaning to ask, how's your DS? Is he doing okay now?

Greedy, I'm making the most of post-milk snuggles too! it's lovely, isn't it? So glad am still bf just for that, though people are starting to think I'm a nutter now and asking pointedly when she's starting on 'the bottle' (she hates bottles) by which I presume they mean formula... um, never! Not that I have anything against formula but why does everyone assume they 'should' be on formula after 6 months?

DD slept through!!!! Just once, last Sat, but what a miracle. She has since gone back to waking up every darn 45 minutes but at least it shows she CAN do it, and so she will again, hopefully - without controlled crying or any other form of bullying parenting.

Sun is shining - bet it doesnt last! Have a good day all.

RGPargy · 23/08/2008 21:40

Hi Sam! Hope you enjoyed the safari park!

Hi Choc! DS is doing ok, still not in regular work () but i marched him into town the other day to register him with an agency so hopefully something will come along SOON! He's so not bothered about whether or not he works, that it's doing my head in! I wouldn't mind if he was worried about finding work but he's not and huffs and puffs when i nag him lol.

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 23/08/2008 22:03

hi everyone!
RG - how old is the original AJ?

Choc - I go to a breast-feeding support group once a week and if I didn't I would be feeling a bit out on a limb by now as no-one else I know in RL is still breast-feeding their LO. Only one person has made that "you're not still feeding him are you..." to me. Think my ILs are resigned to my weirdo (in their opinion) ways, I would love to hear what they say about it behind my back! Hurrah for sleeping through and hope she puts in a repeat performance soon.

Sam - how was the safari park you brave woman? I did a trial run with my MIL yesterday (I went to work and she looked after Adam) and I felt sick the whole time I was away but he was absolutely fine, didn't even appear to notice I was gone! It is so hard isn't it? I used to scoff at the idea of cameras in nurseries that parents could log on and look at and now I completely get it.

Jetgirl - congrats on the results and the crawling!

RGPargy · 23/08/2008 23:03

Greedy - He's 18 now, so old enough to get cracking and work.

Choc and Greedy - forgot to say congrats on still BFing your two LOs!! It's brilliant that you've done it for this long. If i wasn't such a shy feeder with such awkward big boobage, i would probably have done it for longer as i was rather sad when my milk finally dried up. Maybe with the next one (if i have another!) i will go for a bit longer than 5/6 months.

Choc - so glad DD managed to sleep through for you. I bet you woke up in a panic!!

DD is starting to take her weight on all fours now and was starting to rock tonight. Think i'm gonna need those eyes in the back of my head sooner than i thought!!

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 26/08/2008 14:46

Whoops, nearly lost this thread! Quiet on here.

RG - yes thought he was about that age. Hope he gets a job soon. What is he like with Ellie? Thanks for the congrats but feel a bit of a fraud as my decision to continue bfeeding was partly through pure laziness and partly through Adam being a bottle refuser but I am still enjoying it so it feels right for us. Adam has been going backwards and rocking for yonks but still no forward motion poor love!

Countdown to going back to work next week - nothing else to report. x

ChocolateHobnob · 26/08/2008 16:28

Hi all

RG, maybe he will soon. Teenage boys eh? Wonder what our little darlings will be like at his age - the same I expect!

I feel like a fraud too - I am very lazy and bf is really the easiest option for me, particularly as I never tried that hard to make DD take a bottle. Same as Greedy, really.

And also counting down to work, and leaving DD at nursery... woe...

DD crawls backwards and rocks, can't go forwards, can now pull herself up and tries to move along furniture but can't, falls and gets cross!

Hope you're all okay x

Pixiefish · 26/08/2008 18:51

Hi all.

SJ is crawling well and standing well now. She has 2 teeth and is still breastfed (although still on 1 bottle of formula a day)
I have stopped the domperidone although I shink my supply is affected. She is well on the solids- doing a mix of spoon/BLW

sam86 · 27/08/2008 14:04

pixie- aww she will be walking soon! raimee is stil not quite crawling yet, she just rolls everywere! we are waiting for her top 2 teeth to come through, they are really giving her trouble at the mo!

well done choc and greedy ! even if you say its laziness, you are both doing brill to be keeping it up!

greedy - well done, you are stronger than me! i will probably be back at the nursery window within 5 mins of leaving! i wish they did have a camera there, i would be watching constantly!

rg- id crack the whip and get them both out there! lol Ellie sounds exactly like Raimee, our December babies! i get jealous of everyone else whos already having all those special "firsts" like crawling, walking etc!

the safari park wasnt as bad as i expected, there was only one bad moment when all my nieces were agruing over who would sit by who on the little rollercoaster ride, but i was expecting alot worse! raimee loved the sea lion show and just stared at them! she loves animals, esp dogs!she laughs her head off when Razzle shakes or comes near her! i think they will be best friends.

We are moving on the 6th now, as supposedly the plasterers will have finished by this weekend. There seems so much to do i dont know how it will happen! i can not wait to get away though, some idiots went on a bit of a rampage on mon night setting fire to bins and to somebodys car and caravan in our close, and its wrecked the front of his house, it was really bad and he had to come home to it yday from a weekend away, with no idea what had happened. i really dont understand people who can do things like this and just dont give a damn, if they had been in they could have easily been killed. can not wait to move now, even if the other house is only half done. it just scares me so much that people like that even exist.

anyway! i hope everyone is ok, we got some sun for the weekend though not much! we've been looking at scottish cottages to go to in January hopefully with a bit of snow! sooo want to go on hol!!

Febes · 28/08/2008 14:19

HI!!!! We are back on line finally and it feels like I'm back in the real world. It's amazing how much you get done when you aren't Mnetting. I've miss it soooo much though.
We moved into our new house 5 weeks ago and we've been pulling down walls, ripping up carpet and generally making a mess.
Anabel is 9 months now and cut her first tooth yesterday so has been quite hard work all week hopefully things will settle down again now. We have had a lovely holiday together although we didn't go anywhere but not working and being a SAH mummy again.
I have to go catch up on the thread and see what you have all been up to.

Febes · 28/08/2008 14:26

BTW I'm still BFing as well and Anabel has been biting me for the past few weeks. I have tried putting her on the floor, shouting out and stopping feeding but she still keeps doing it. It only hurts a little she mostly just gives little nips and then smiles at me in a cheeky way but occasionally she really bites down!! Is this the start of her winding me up. Does anyone elses LOs do this?

RGPargy · 28/08/2008 14:32

Greedy - Glad it feels right for you. In a way i wanted to continue BFing and do regret giving up sometimes, but hey ho, she's thriving now so that's all that matters. DS is good with Ellie. She's always got huge smiles for him () and he's always happy to take her from me if she's fussing so i can do stuff around the house etc. Hope work's not too bad for you. It's horrible being back at work.

Choc - Hope your work will be fine too. Ellie was laying on the floor yesterday and i pulled her up by her arms so that she could sit up but she locked her legs and wanted to stand!! She looked very pleased with herself that she was standing up, even if she was quite wobbly lol!

Pixie - Glad DD is doing well! 2 teeth, eh? I think we have one on the way as i'm sure her gum looks quite white but of course she wont let me anywhere near her mouth to look!

Sam - no need to be jealous of everyone else's firsts! Ours will be doing it all soon enough and that's when the trouble starts!! Sounds like you are doing a good job to get away from your close - sounds like a nightmare!!

Febes - hello and welcome back! I know what you mean about having an actual real life when you dont have the internet! Hope Anabel settles down for you now that her little tooth is through.

Nothing to report here really. We finally have carpet in the front room now as opposed to the really cheap crappy laminate that was in there before, courtesy of the previous owner, Mr Bodge-it!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 28/08/2008 14:35

Talking of BFing, i had to laugh. Yesterday i was sitting on the sofa and i noticed that the underwire of my bra was poking RIGHT out! So in order to slide it back it, i had to wip the cup over my boob. DD was sitting next to me and saw me get my boob out and i SWEAR she leant forward as if to have a feed! It was almost like she forgot that mummy doesn't give boobie feeds any more but then suddenly remembered as she sat back up again lol. She always stares at my boobs if i'm getting dressed in front of her. I'm starting to get a bit paranoid!

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 29/08/2008 20:34

RG - Ahhh bless Ellie for forgetting then remembering! Adam is obsessed with my DH's nipples (likes to tweak them - ouch) but seems to know that they are not for milk.

Febes - Ikwym re the start of them winding you up, Adam is starting to get properly cheeky - I love it! Re the biting thing, Adam did it a few times when his first teeth came through but not since. I just made sure he was properly hungry before offering him a feed and watched him like a hawk near the end of the feed cos I usually found it was at the end when he wasn't so bothered that he decided to try his new gnashers out! He hasn't done it for a while but it does make your toes curl doesn't it?!

Sam - glad the safari park was good, holiday in Scotland sounds lovely, we are going up to Shetland to visit my mum and dad at xmas and we are hoping for some snow but not when we are due to arrive or leave cos the plane is small and some guy has to come out with a snow plough and clear the runway while you circle around!

Yummy take-away pizza for tea - I love pay day!

jetgirl · 30/08/2008 17:11

Hi all - well now we're back from holiday the sun seems to have come out, typical!

sam - DD loved the superlambananas, and we had great fun spotting them when we went out and about.

Febes - William has bitten me a few times, but I just refuse to feed him for a bit and he soon gets the message. DD did the same when she had just cut her teeth and drew blood once - my tears soon stopped her in her tracks!

RG - I'm not sure who is worse, teenage boys or girls, I guess with having one of each I'll find out in due course. I foresee a clash of hormones with DD in the future! Hope your DS has a job soon, if for your sanity at least!

Greedy - wow, shetland at christmas must be lovely.

We had a lovely few days in Liverpool with my aunt and uncle who spoiled us rotten and loved having the kids around. DH and I had some time to ourselves while my aunt looked after them for a few hours which was nice. It was DD's 3rd birthday on Monday and we went to Chester Zoo which was lovely, then had a little birthday tea with jelly and ice cream and cake of course. DD is so funny as now everything has to be in 3's 'because I'm 3'. William loved the zoo, especially the monkeys, perhaps he felt some sort of affinity with them
