Here we go. I was too sick, sleepy and preoccupied with my weight to notice the old thread running out

Right, must be off to try and be productive!

LittleMissNorty · 19/05/2008 13:56

Oh I love Woolacombe

of all these holidays....mine isn't until October

I haven't sterilised anything since DD was 6 months old

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/05/2008 13:58

I have never sterlised anything for ds! Granted he has only had about 5 bottles in his life, but I never sterlised them or the breast pump, or in fact dummies!

andiem · 19/05/2008 14:08

no I don't sterilise anything either

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 14:12

I am quite fond of sterilising, I still do the big boys drink bottle spouts from time to time, though I'm nothing like as obsessive as Iwas before (or will have to be if I go away with DM next week).

I have the munchies and I have put 2lb back on. But I have got into a pair of size 20 M&S trousers my sis gave me the other day (I'm not sure why she gave me them, she said the length was funny, but maybe they're too small I'm hoping! I know it shouldn't be a competition but she loves to give me stuff she's too thin for as soon as she loses 1lb...)

baggins is being so gorgeous today. I just want to eat him!

Now, productive...? futon frame to wash as soon as I work out how to fold it into a bed to carry it into the garden.

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 14:18

I have just bought this from a local shop. It is apparently brilliant for eczema. I am going to try it on the boys after bathtime.

Seansgirlthesequel · 19/05/2008 14:28

Oh Ria, I thought I was the only one that did that, I sterilise DDs water bottle for school on a friday am I obsessive? Perhaps I will stop sterilising the bottles and dummies after all only another four weeks to go until DS is 1!

Well done on the touseurs Ria, I'd say that you're doing well I think M&S sizes are skimpy! So perhaps you're really an 18 Am having inbetween size issues I am in 18 Next and Long Tall Sally but when I bought size 20 Tesco crops this morning they are too tight Yes, I know I have put on 4lbs but am wearing my 18 linen trousuers today so it can't be taht bad

Be good to know if that cream works as both Dcs have eczema as does DH. Right on that subject need to order some more doublebase for DS.

Glad to hear BTW that DH has new job, hopefully he'l feel much better by wed!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 19/05/2008 15:15

I stopped routinely sterilising at about 9 months when I stood idly reading the formula tin and it said no need to sterilise bottles after 6 months. Having said that because she only has bottles on Monday and Tuesday, for a while I still continued to sterilise Monday's bottles because they had been sitting around for a week, but when they were freshly washed on Monday night, I would just make up Tuesday's bottles straight away without sterilising. And then I noticed the formula tin said to discard 4 weeks after opening and we'd been using the same tin for 6 months so I thought bllcks to all of this and now everything just gets a good wash. (And for the little amount of formula we use she gets pre-mixed cartons now)

LittleMissNorty · 19/05/2008 15:35

Mine have always gone through a hot wash on the dishwasher which is pretty good IMO. DD has just been eating grated cheese off the kitchen floor (anything to keep her quiet for a few minutes)....if she's alright doing that amongst the inevitable animal hairs, I figure bottles don't really need to be sterilised

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 19:30

I have just been to my first PTA meeting. PITA methinks.

andiem · 19/05/2008 19:40

ria some of the mothers on our psa make mussolini look like a nice person

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 19/05/2008 19:45

at pta comments. So much fun lies ahead methinks...

andiem · 19/05/2008 19:50

jammy playground politics is a whole new ball game when you start school

but we have had scandal of the year the dh of the chair of our psa has been shagging another mum at the school also on the psa ooh their were rude words in the playground

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/05/2008 19:56

Wow andie! What a juicy scandal! I clearly have all this to look forward to!

My dp is snoring, I want to go and kick him! If he was so damn tired what the hell did he play golf this afternoon? Twunt!

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 20:14

just out of interest is your PTA a registered charity? It appears we are not, don't seem to have a chairperson, no agenda, no proper minutes and couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery. I only went cos DH was ill.

I love a good playground scandal...

Sputnik · 19/05/2008 20:14

How's DSs sleep going Holly?

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 20:21

The really annoying thing is since I got back my mood/state of mind has plummeted and I feel like bursting into tears. I am supposed to be writing this sort of thing down for the CPN, but there was nothing particular that happened to make me feel this way.

andiem · 19/05/2008 20:22

no I don't think they are a charity but we raise big bucks xmas fair raised 6500

andiem · 19/05/2008 20:25

tbh ria I am class rep this year and my heart sinks when I go to the meetings there is something about some of the mothers that makes my teeth itch

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/05/2008 20:25

Shit sputnik! He fell asleep last night without feeding for the first time in months. I still can't get him to sleep for more than about 2 hours at a time. The Elizabeth Pantley book has helped me get it into perspective a bit more though. Some of the things she says make a lot of sense eg. some babies need feeding at night. I guess it's because he hasn't taken that well to solids, so still has a lot of milk. He is still on baby time and still has a breastfeed at least every 4 hours! The first thing I need to crack is not feeding to sleep, then maybe we can work on him sleeping in his own bed!

How are you doing with sleep? Are you still co-sleeping too?

Sputnik · 19/05/2008 20:26

Could it be a blood sugar thing Ria? Do you need to eat or are you coming dow from a sugar "high"?

Or maybe just annoyance at the meeting?

You should write it down, maybe it would help you identify a trigger.

OP posts:
Seansgirlthesequel · 19/05/2008 20:26

Ria,Don't think ours is a registered charity, they seem to be fairly well organised, although lacking in communication! Though (and I am new to this) apparently most people don't view them as 'The Parents and Friends' but as 'The Unfriendlies and stuck up parents'

We have no scandal (that I know of) but plenty of bitchiness! And there are little cliques and people you soundn't be seen talking to Me and my friend like to bitch about other peoples outfits and comment and other peoples inability to pick up/drop off their kids on time (odd occasions excused but persistent bad time keeping is noted

How was your holiday Sputnik? Hiya Holly! My DH is snoring too Holly BTW!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/05/2008 20:29

You have my pity SG, I love my dp sooooo much, but I really wish he would STOP FUCKING SNORING! It makes me want to put a pillow over his face!

Is anyone watching Dispatches?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 19/05/2008 20:30

Oh dear, I just had some dinner (pasta & tom sauce) and had to dash for the toilet

I kind of dread PTA gossip/cliques etc, not sure I'll fit in terribly well when the time comes. Ah well, time yet to sharpen up my social niceties. (Not that I'm a horrible person, just can't be arsed with a lot of the stuff I imagine/hear about goes on)

Sputnik · 19/05/2008 20:32

In general sleep seems to be getting better. I can't see a clock but I think he's now sleeping through til 5ish many nights, then feeds and goes back off. Not always though. And the last 2 nights have been bad as he's not well.

DD was a much worse sleeper, she used to wake up 45 minutes after putting her to sleep, and tok it from there really. Glad you fund the book hepful.

We're still co-sleeping, he's in a sidecar cot thing, it really suits us. No hurry to get him out really.
