Here we go. I was too sick, sleepy and preoccupied with my weight to notice the old thread running out

hi MHC! Long time no 'speak'! How's things? How's the new place?

'lo everyone.

Quick visit, off to do the afternoon party-run.

justbeme · 17/05/2008 15:22

Hi MHC - how's the new house and the chickens?

Foxy, Ive just made some french white bread in my borrowed bread maker - smells lovely!
It's abit of a shock though , how much salt goes into a loaf (even if I am using lo-salt).

Just having a lazy day today.

foxythesnowfox · 17/05/2008 16:02

How much did you put in? Its about 1.5 teaspoons in a large loaf, but I put in about 1. Its one of the main reasons why I wanted a breadmaker. I read in the paper today that if you get a breadmaker, it will have paid for itself in 6 months with the current increases in food prices.

A new Panasonic SD254 ... best online price £78.99 at householduk.co.uk - according to the Guardian today. Snap it up!! Its not the top of the range, they've recently brought out the 255 which is about £99 I think. Mine (formerly Annobals) is the SD253 and its fab. I've not used the raisin dispenser, and I'm not sure if it drops automatically. I think it does according to the instructions.

lackaDAISYcal · 17/05/2008 19:10

evening all

RL met MN today in the form of one of the women on my Nov AN thread turning up on my doorstep!

We are doing a book swap, and she was up visiting her parents who live about two miles from me so she decided to deliver it in person. she and her DH and little boy are just lovely, but my house is like a bombsite. I was so

justbeme · 17/05/2008 19:23

Yes Foxy 1.5 tsps.

Thanks for that. I wonder how they worked out how the breadmaker would pay for itself - did they have a breakdown?

The loaf that I made that didnt rise properly as my yeast was out of date - Ive made a boozy bread and butter pudding - - god its stodgy - but nice!!

foxythesnowfox · 17/05/2008 19:42

I suppose they cost the ingredients against the cost of a shop loaf. Its important to use good yeast. Lidl do good bread flour, its about 50p, and better than Sainburys! Doves Farm and Carrs are about £1.30 a bag and the best.

Daisy, were you expecting her?! Was it wierd?

I just stuck my head in on the June '08 thread to send my good wishes.

They ignored me.

Sputnik · 17/05/2008 20:17

Ooh, I was going to do that Foxy. Maybe I won't bother .
I like their creme egg titles though.

Hey all, well done on the games JBM! And fab about the holiday Daisy. Glad you met another MNetter (she wasn't as fab as me though was she?)

I'm off to have a bath in a minute with a lovely lush bath bomb.

MHC good to have you back. How's the new place?

Hi everyone else, hope you are all having good weekends.

We have our first party tomorrow...

lackaDAISYcal · 17/05/2008 20:56

no i wasn't expecting her foxy, otherwise I would've tidied up and hidden the bottle of fruit shoot on the kitchen table ...only kidding, it's full strength coke all the way in this house...nothing but the best for my DCs

bumper she was tall and skinny and didn't look 3 months pregnant.....put my 6mo bump to shame so it did

foxy, thanks for your post on my london thread. Can you fb me with the details and I'll give her a call, if you can bear to have a hairy trucker lurking on your doorstep night after night .
DH thinks I'm a crazy lady, wanting to tackle london with two DCs and 6mo pregnant. how far out are you? I've been looking at YHA places. £80 for a family room in the middle of London which sleeps up top six, so I'll have a couple of spare beds if anyone fancies a trip to London! Of course I haven't thought about travel cots for DD or anything like that. I did see a premier inn in Kew for £70 per night for a family room which I could probably drive to......saving a fortune on train fares as well.

maybe I'll do it next year with just me and DS....

hi sputnik

Izzybel · 17/05/2008 21:09

Hey everyone!
JBM you're famous! Well done on having the tip of the day. I read it and thought "oh that's a good idea" as I was thinking about sticking mine on ebay or something but I don't think I will now as it will be good to use for messy play, then I realised it was your tip!
Foxy, can't believe they ignored you! How rude!
Daisy, I bet that was weird, another MNer landing on your doorstep! I don't know any other MNers and I always imagine you all calling each other your talk nicknames at meet-ups how weird would that be. Full strength coke? My DD is way more hardcore. She prefers gin
Hi sputnik
MHC, so sorry that you're on dial-up [frustrated emoticon]

Izzybel · 17/05/2008 21:10

Bumper, hope you enjoy the party tomorrow

foxythesnowfox · 17/05/2008 21:13

Hey Izzy, Bumper ... anyone else lurking

I'll see her on Monday so get the details. You can't mention MN though! Blow my cover

Bumpers coming to London too in August (aren't you Bumper?) and hopefully staying with me. B&B two streets away Fairyfay and Andiem not far from us. Will FB you

lackaDAISYcal · 17/05/2008 21:35

we should try and get the same dates then.... I'll tell your friend we shared an ex boyfriend or something....at the same time

how will you explain bumper to your DP if he doesn't know about your MN habit? she's too young to be an old school friend

lackaDAISYcal · 17/05/2008 21:38

hey izzy ...lol at the gin

have a nice party tomorrow bumper....I'm sure DD will have a ball, scrunching cake into someone else's carpet

RiaButterflew · 17/05/2008 22:10

So, I was in the kitchen, stood behind the ironing board, heap of laundry and pile of ironed stuff, steaming iron in hand and DH came through and said "are you doing some ironing?", erm, nope, I get bizarre sexual gratification from standing around like this

RiaButterflew · 17/05/2008 22:15

I'm off - glass of wine and two fat ladies! night Rx

Izzybel · 17/05/2008 22:31

Lol Ria!

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/05/2008 00:10

Oh dear, I seem to be a bit pissed...... I've been to a fiends' engagement party in Clapham, i wasn't going to go but Dh talked me into it and I'm glad I did but I appear to have drunk too much . I'm now eating cheese on toast and catching up while it goes down, to avoid getting indigestion - or maybe I'm just a MN addict .

Are Daisy and Bumper both coming down to London in the summer? Hooray! Does anyone else want to come too?

I'd better go and get some sleep before the little horrors darlings get up.

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 18/05/2008 06:13

Yep, i'm going to go and stay with Foxy sometime. But she won't need to explain me away as her dp will be away during the summer.

So, it's 6am and dd is awake

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/05/2008 06:53

Morning all. Well I go out for the day and you lot get chatty. Are you trying to tell me something?

The wedding was good, and the jamlet was a star!!!!! Unfortunately my efforts to give her her tea early, before the 4.30 ceremony failed, she wasn't having any of it, and then she decided she was hungry at about 4.40, so DH took her out of the ceremony because she was making a bit of fuss. Not too bad, but we were feeling very sensitive to potential comments/ill thoughts from other guests (provoked from reading too many MN wedding threads1 ) And despite the fact she's normally falling asleep by 6.30 - 7.00 she stayed up smiling and clapping etc (with a short nap on my shoulder while we ate) until we decided we'd better leave at 9.30 All my family thought she was amazing (which she is of course ) and it was lovely to see them all.

Oh, and I've not confirmed it (she won't let me look) but we might have a tooth There's certainly something sharp and pointy, that wasn't there yesterday morning, on the lower gum.

So people are heading to London in the summer? Keep me informed re dates and we might be able to come in for a visit (though the thought of taking a pushchair on the underground (and we don't do slings/carriers) scares me). And Gt. Yarmouth isn't so far from my folks - we might be able to co-ordinate a trip home and a day out at the seaside???

Bumper - have a good time at your party today, and sorry DD's up so early for yu. I was hoping the jamlet might sleep in a bit, as she had such a late night, but not only did she wake at 4 (only briefly though) she was up at 6.20, so only half hour later than normal

LOL at Ria's DH's ironing comment, and the gin comment Sorry for everything else I've forgotten

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 18/05/2008 07:20

Sounds like she was fab jammy. These things are always a risk with kids! DD never sleeps if we are out just gets steadily more cranky.

Plus it doesn't seem to matter how late she goes to bed she still gets up at the same time.

She is currently devouring marmite on toast, though I have stupidly put it on a mat on the floor for her and now it is all over my carpet.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/05/2008 07:26

Oooh, can we give LOs Marmite? I've been wanting too, but have worried about it being salty.

The groom (my cousin) and several other family members are Norwich supporters, so there was plenty of good cheer when we changed the jamlet into her green and yellow "Eat, Sleep, Dream Norwich" 'jamas ready for the journey home..

Right, time to get ready for our 6 mile walk.
