March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

theblonde sorry to hear about your mmc. I had 2 before DD and was surprised to find out how common they are. Before you have one you don't even realise it happens

catweazle · 13/09/2008 15:52

Nobody around?

Had a diabolical night last night. We'd only been asleep for an hour when DD started throwing up, and it continued throughout the night Big downside of co-sleeping is trying to strip and remake a superkingsize bed in the middle of the night on your own

She was really hot in the night but has cooled down now. She's been asleep pretty much all day.

SuperSillyus · 13/09/2008 19:07

Catweazle that sounds really rough, I hope you get a better night tonight.

kittywise · 13/09/2008 19:20

catweazle that's awful. hope you don't get a sick bug too
Has she been better today?

sillybigsausage · 13/09/2008 21:07

Catweazle -have been there with the vom covered bed :

Hope DD is feeling better today - how is she?

Weather super today - spent the day in Kew Gardens with a MNer I hadn't met before and had a fab time

spongecake · 13/09/2008 21:55

hope your dd is better now, sounds terrible. was up most of last night myself, and think tonight will be the same
had cool time at airshow today, ds loved it and holds his arms above his head at planes going whooo- bless. also got chatted up by lovely chap- dh was working so went on own- haven;t had a crush on anyone except dh for years. bit of a shock really.

Piffle · 13/09/2008 22:06

cat similar here
Utter grimness
Fortunately and unusually Finn and dd have kicked the bug quickly. Well climbing up radiators to get to windowsills and riding bikes being any indication...
Finn adores planes infact ANY transport.
Have gone to emmabridgewater.co.uk and bought him true transport dinner set!
He says aeroplane ( air pain )truck train bus (chain choo choo) tractor bike or bike rmm rmm for motorbike shooter (scooter) boat wheel
He is focussed on motioN and food...
Currently naming breakfast cereals
Umm shreddies umm cheerios umm little weet
Mimicking dd methinks as she is least decisive breakfaster EVER

catweazle · 13/09/2008 22:31

She's been alternately sick/ asleep all day long. When she's awake she's quite happy- dancing to the music on the TV. No temperature. No dirty nappies. But drink of water- up it comes. BF= up it comes. The only good side is the BF- sleep for an hour- because if it's staying down for an hour it must be doing some good?

She gets up on my lap, lifts my top saying num-num? Seems to be a new word.

Piffle · 13/09/2008 22:36

self medicating
How very sweet and clever
God I miss bf now...has been 2 mths already

SuperSillyus · 14/09/2008 10:08

I'd like to be missing breast feeding just about now!

catweazle · 14/09/2008 10:26

Well we had a better night so I thought she was OK but after a BF at about 9am she brought it all back up and went back to sleep. Still no temperature. (no spots or dirty nappies either). Do I take her to the doctor or is it OK to see how she goes? I thought she'd be better by now. How long would you leave it? (it's been 36 hours now-started about 11pm on Friday)

kittywise · 14/09/2008 12:41

I'd leave it CW. The Dr will only say it's a virus and come back on x-day if no better blah blah.

Check she has wet nappies and is not dehydrated, that's the main thing.

If she's no temp and is otherwise well then it'll pass.
Glad she's better

kittywise · 14/09/2008 12:41

sound like old mother hen don't I?

sillybigsausage · 14/09/2008 20:03

Well we had summer at last today eh?

What gorgeous weather

Piffle · 14/09/2008 20:10

yes but check out the temp now in the kids bedroom
18 degrees
Aaarghh

sillybigsausage · 14/09/2008 20:23

Aaaay there's a fair nip in the air now....

Piffle · 14/09/2008 21:13

0r as dp said
Bit nipply out there dear? (.) (.)
Cheeky fecker

SuperSillyus · 15/09/2008 09:46

So I've given up and gone back to the drawing board. Feeding loads and co sleeping. I'll give it a bit longer.

I was too tired to engineer any change- only getting 3 hours a night, I'm back to 6 hours again (and long for 8 hours!)

I approached a gallery about applying to have an exhibition hopefully in about a year. I hope it will help focus me and not cause too much pressure...Maybe I should have waited until I had more work....(starts to panic...)

We are so tight for money at the moment and yet I am bidding on loads of ebay stuff...must stop! I got some fantastic bargains for dd at the weekend though

sillybigsausage · 15/09/2008 21:41

Piffle- !!!!

Rosy exhibition sounds brill idea!!!!

Yu should put some of your art on your profile on we can see it. I'd lie some nice art for my hoose

I'm in the same place as you re feeding - want to give up but cannot yet - co-sleping, demand feeding 18 month old greedy boy here- that's when I am not on Ebay of course, grabbing "bargains"

Shock
SuperSillyus · 16/09/2008 07:22

Sillysausage my art isn't exactly nice it's usually very messy and weird and doesn't quite work! (sigh)

Well, glad I'm not the only one. I suppose if our lives had a slower pace and we were all lazying around more and napping every afternoon...extended breast feeding would be the most natural lazy thing in the world to do.

I'm back to persevering a bit longer I guess.

catweazle · 16/09/2008 15:22

DD went back to nursery today but I didn't go to work because still had stomach pain. Just as well. Nursery rang at 1pm and said could I get her. She'd had 2 loose nappies in 15 minutes and a temperature. When I got there she was playing happily with some animals in a little treehouse thing and really surprised to see me. She hasn't got a temp and is fine. GRR.

Now I really don't mind being called to get her when she is hot and floppy and unwell, but 2 loose nappies? My DCs always get "toddler diarrhea" (probably because we are veggie) so it isn't necessarily a sign she is ill. None of the others went to daycare so it's never come up before. I've got visions of being called out every day now until she's potty trained They say it's the rules- 2 nappies in 15 minutes and off they go.. Looks like I'm going to be looking for a different nursery.. Don't other kids get this?

kittywise · 17/09/2008 13:19

catweazle, how very annoying

My babies/toddlers very rarely have solid nappies. They have all had/do have toddler diarrhoea. I'm really suprised when they have a firm poo
