difficult one Pesha...
But if it helps, you can get tape:CD player adapter thingies!
Feeling a bit better as DH is feeling better so can see a tiny bit of normality returning. Maybe. Went to docs and was told he'd obv had an infection, they don't know where but the ABs had sorted it. Plus it was difficult to diagnose as he only got bits of the story because I had taken him once, DH once and my mum once

PillockOfTheCommunity · 29/04/2008 18:06

I'm having a clear out as I may be getting a lodger in the very near future, trying hard to be ruthless!
I've got loads and loads of books that I really don't need to keep so I'll post a list and if anyone wants any of them I'll send them to you

Pesha
Are they both 5 door? DO NOT get an A3 if it's 3 door, believe me, they are a complete nightmare, Andy used to work for Audi so we know these things
he's round for parents evening in a little while so I'll ask him what he thinks

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 18:25

ooh yes 3 door cars a nightmare esp with car seats
Yes Pillock please do - and I have a load I'd like to swap with you, although I guess that's kind of what you're trying to avoid?

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 18:26

3 door cars in general - DH has a Golf and it's awful to get t in and out of back (although I suppose it gets easier from about now anyway when they are forward facing and baby can walk etc).

Pesha · 29/04/2008 18:30

Thanks Pillock and SPB

Yes def both 5 door, getting 3 dc strapped into car seats in the back of a 3 door doesn't bare thinking about!!

Newer one is slightly bigger too, bigger boot space and space for dc but not enough to make a huge difference.

I think really my decision is teetering on the looks vs sportiness factors! How shallow am I?!

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 18:35

plus the newer one should in theory last longer...

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 18:36

Why am I giving advice, my knowledge of cars extends to colour and Isofix fittings

Pesha · 29/04/2008 18:41

See thats where its tricky SPB cos its only 2 years newer but has nearly twice as much mileage!

Oh and just for you - the newer one is a lovely midnight blue type colour and the other is black. Both have Isofix points!

Although I have all the car seats I'm ever gonna buy and none of them are isofix so it doesn't really matter to me but should help with resale I guess.

Where's GMM, she likes her cars doesn't she?!

Eddas · 29/04/2008 18:47

I'm hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Car freak petrol head.... Have you looked at the BMW 1 series? My mums wife has just bought a new one - she looked at the Audi's and thought the BMW 1 was better value/more extras for the same money.

Between the 2 Audi's personally I would go for the older model if it was the one I liked the look of the best as long as the insurance wasnt loads more expensive. Have you tried moneysupermarket and confused.com for cheaper quotes?

60,000 miles is a lot more, chances are it will need more work in the near future - plugs, brakes, gear box, all the wear and tear type things. 140,000 on a 3 year old car is a lot, has it been a company car? If so its probabaly been well looked after/serviced properly etc.

Pesha · 29/04/2008 19:08

HaVEN'T (oops, done a dooby! ) looked at bmws, I didnt wanna give myself too many options! I'm not great at making decisions - you probably noticed!

Don't know if it was company car or not but has full Audi service history, last 1 in dec at 130,000 miles and has had new brake pads and discs. Trouble is newer one looks soo much nicer on outside but older one has all the fancy extras and more power. Insurance is quite a bit more (I think 2 or 3 groups higher) but so far only got quotes off autotrader site to give me a guide iyswim.

Might go and investigate beemers! My dad always had bmws when I was a kid and my grandpa still does.

penpotEca · 29/04/2008 19:09

lol at GGM petrolhead! I was thinking mmmm the sporty one sounds nice

penpotEca · 29/04/2008 19:10

Gmm even!

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 19:11

oh of course - I read the mileage the wrong way round.
I can't even pick on colour - I like both! My car is midnight blue (well, sort of a blue/black so I assume it's similar) so if you want to copy me go for the blue one.
Gmm has been no help, just thrown more confusion into the mix - GMM TELL her what to buy!
Anyone got a birthday tomorrow?

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 19:12

Phoebe!

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2008 19:12

I am now in a ridiculously good mood - is this a modd swing?

geordieminx · 29/04/2008 19:29

If you have your heart set on an audi then go for the older one with th nice inside - when you are driving it you arent onna see what it looks like from the outside - but you will spend a lot of time looking at the inside. Get some quotes from moneysupermarket.com and confused.com - you only have to enter your details once and they search most insurers - I'm with AIG who were miles cheaper than anyone else and dp is with admiral.

Also if it doesnt look as nice from the outside its less temptation for someone to nick it.

geordieminx · 29/04/2008 19:29

ITS GM YOU FOOLS!!!

Pesha · 29/04/2008 19:30

Lol at modd swing! Glad you in good mood

BMWs at least a grand out of my price range, 2 grand if I want one less than 100 miles away Which a shame cos they do look nice and you're right about better extras.

POTC - tell Andy hes rubbish! I need someone to tell me what I want!!!

Was thinking perhaps we could get newer one with better looks and then boy sport it up with money we save on insurance!! Although that would then put up insurance

I want to test drive them both and then have a think but they're both about 40 miles away in opposite directions!

Pesha · 29/04/2008 19:36

Good point about nice inside and also less temptation for people to nick it! Older one would be a lot more fun to drive as well

geordieminx · 29/04/2008 19:40

Get the older one.

Sexonlegs · 29/04/2008 19:53

GM, did you say your mum's wife in an earlier post?

oooggs · 29/04/2008 19:53

sol - stop leading me astray no wine tonight

Luce - today we went to toddlers this morning and wobblers this afternoon (wobblers is a group of 5 of us who meet at each others houses on a rota)

GM - had stopped dream feeding ds1 by this age so no help sorry - currently (on a normal ish night) Erin sleeps through and Jack takes a full bottle feed about 3am

liath - too right 2nd child is easier, less worry, not as stressful probably due to experience - even though they still throw spanners in the works

mj - my dh would emirgrate tomorrow - but I couldn't go - family etc...

Katy - T is a little tinker I'll swap for Jack
